Hello, I have a problem where software and games load slowly, but that happens only sometimes and the problem will last until PC is rebooted. The behavior is similar to having a really bad and slow hard drive. However it doesn't seem to be fully related on to how "heavy" the game or software is. Opening something extremely simple such as a calculator or text editor may take 10 seconds to open, but opening a game can also take as much time. I would say the problem occurs every 5-10 time the computer is started, and like I said when I reboot the problem will go away. When the problem is in effect watching htop doesn't show anything weird. CPU, RAM, etc show usage as expected. I've updated BIOS to the latest and it had no effect. Switched off all tree hugging options from BIOS I could find, tried different XMP options, tried to default BIOS settings. If you have some exact option in BIOS in mind that could result to this kind if behavior please tell. I've benchmarked the disks and checked SMART, all seem ok, results here: SMART results: I am not a hard drive expert but I assume according to results above the disks should are fine? From where should I continue troubleshooting? Asus Radeon RX 6600 XT Dual Intel I7 11700K Asus Z590-A Prime Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x8GB DDR4 3200MHz Corsair RM850x Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS Kernel 6.2.2-060202-generic (tested on different kernels) I've used Wayland and Xorg, problem exists using both.

I've been troubleshooting a problem where my PC would boot and operate slowly but only sometimes. Slow boot and poor performance would start the moment I would press the power button, monitor would stay blank for several seconds and then the motherboard (Prime Z590-A) ASUS logo would slowly load to my screen. And when entering BIOS it would be so sluggish that mouse navigation is not possible because there is a 2-3 second delay when moving mouse cursor. If I would continue to boot in this state programs and games would take ages to load and the FPS in games would be horrendously poor. And if I would reboot there is a chance that it would boot just fast and normally and no problems whatsoever. Because the problem extends to BIOS and loading ASUS logo it would certainly be a hardware issue. I replaced RAM's to brand new and tried with different hard drive. My friend gave me a tip that I could remove my RX5700XT and use integrated graphics. I tried that and sure enough the boot was lightning fast every single time and it worked just fine. So I tested my old AMD 6950 to see if the PCIe bus is somehow broken or bad settings on it, that was not the case as the 6950 was also booting fast and working just as expected. So in 99% certainty the problem would be the RX5700XT, right? It has warranty left on it so I could return it but I am very curious to know what on earth could cause the GPU to be broken like that that it would cause problems but only some boots? Memory on it is somehow broken or what?

Hi there. I just build a new PC for my brothers last week. The problems start when they start playing game. The framerate I got is incredibly low for the hardware I put in. The spec are as follow. CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 (Stock cooler) GPU: GTX 1070ti MB: Steel legend B450 PSU: 750 watt gold Monitor: 1080p 240hz w/ G-sync Here is result, Solution I've tried and me running out of idea of what's to fix. In Valorant I've got on average 120 fps on everything on low with frame occasional frame drop to around 50 fps. For CSGO on everything on low I also got around 180 fps on average, Apex legend I've got around 100 fps. Every game with V-sync off. Window lasted version, Newest Nvidia driver and AMD Chipset firmware installed. When I check with Task Manager, MSI Afterburner, Zotac GPU software all of these software reported around 30-50% usage on CPU and 20-50% utilization on GPU only. I tried set Power option to Maximum, Ultimate power and it helps a bit. I tried swapping GPU to another computer with Ryzen 3 4350 and the problem is still here. This 2 PC run on Window home installed from the same thumbstick and logged in to the same account. Even with Aorus 1080ti, this computer refuse to utilize both GPU and CPU to it's potential and fps is almost the same as 1070ti in every game. I know that this card can run better than this because this Zotac 1070ti used to be paired with Intel i5 8600 and every game I've mentioned above run smoother with higher fps on 1440p than the current setup with 1080p. I can only force GPU and CPU to run above 80% in Benchmark and mining (I don't mine, I just wanted to see if the PSU limits the available power and maybe that's why it can't run at 100%) Have I done something wrong during a window installation process? Are there any setting I must change? Please, I have reinstall window on 4350 one once already and it improved nothing. I have no idea what's to change anymore. CPU - i7 9700K CPU Cooler - Dark Rock 4 RAM - GSkill Trident Z 16Gb 3600 MHz Motherboard - Aorus Pro Z390 GPU - MSI RTX 3070 As of a couple of weeks ago, my PC (2 years old) what seemingly happened over night, lost 30%+ performance. I went to bed with games like League of Legends playing at 350FPS, to now playing at 180, and stuttering or hitching with drops to 135. Of course this is still playable, but clearly something is going on. This is happening in all of my games: Lol, Valorant, Forza H5, F1 22, etc. I have tried trouble shooting a handful of different issues and I have no idea where to go anymore. It feels like I spent $2400 and now have $1200 worth of parts. Below Ill try to layout the steps I have taken to solve the issue: Tried a different GPU - I swapped out my GPU with my brothers 1060 and to my surprise It gave me higher frames than my 3070 (Roughly 10%). So I thought the issue was pretty clear, it was a bad GPU. I sent mine away, got another one, and I saw an increase in performance, but only marginally, no where near where I thought it "should be". Tested RAM - I thought maybe one of the sticks of RAM was going, because I've had some BSOD in the past that had error codes that could possibly been RAM errors. I downloaded MemTest86 and ran it through a few times with the recommended settings I found online, and it found nothing. Also made sure XMP is turned on. Reinstalled Windows - Installed a fresh copy of Windows 10, because why not, couldn't hurt. No Luck. CPU, GPU, RAM Usage - I wondered, maybe one of my parts was being maxed out at 100% and it was causing a bottleneck, but after checking task manager, none of my parts go above 65-70% usage during gaming. I have yet to try my "new" GPU in another PC to see what kind of numbers it gets. I doubt it's a cooling issue as I have sufficient intake, filters cleaned regularly and live in a very cool room at the moment. Is it possible my CPU could be at fault? Maybe the motherboard? PSU? It's incredibly discouraging to spend alot of money for it to all of a sudden stop working like it once did. If anyone has any possible solutions, I would appreciate them. I've been told to run a Userbenchmark test to show that all of the parts appear to be running as normal, but in "real world" usage it appears to be totally different. https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/58337855

I am trying to help my friend troubleshoot a weird performance problem he has been having, and I would appreciate any help. This will be a bit long if anyone can follow along and please give some advice. My friend got a good deal from a buddy for a 6700k with an Asus Maximus viii Hero, he also purchased some new (16gb) 3200mhz ram for it. He also has a 1060 3gb card that he is still running from his old build for now. His game of choice right now is COD Warzone, and he is having MASSIVE performance issues in the game. I mean 15-20 FPS. While a quad core does struggle in COD Warzone, it should absolutely get over 60 FPS consistently, especially since he plays at all low settings. It also isnt even showing 100% CPU usage on his task manager. So I have been trying to help him fix this PC to work with COD Warzone. Sometimes he plays fine for a few minutes and then his FPS just completely tanks back to 15-20 FPS. It is so crazy inconsistent that it does this, once in awhile we will try a fix which works for a few minutes, and it immediately tanks his FPS 5 minutes later. I have attempted every common sense fix to the game and his PC. Here is the really strange thing though. His old build was incredibly budget oriented, an i5 6500 with 8 gigs of 2133mhz ram, 1060 3gb. And it ran COD WARZONE flawlessly, besides massive stutter from the system running out of ram and writing to the hard disk. So our friend offered his old build to him that he just stopped using for a really nice deal. This way he could run 3200mhz ram, and have a nice speed boost from the raw CPU clock speed improvements. While the stutter was incredibly bad for him, the actual FPS was fine outside of the stutter. But this new build he got is absolutely struggling with the game right now. Things we have tried - Installing on an SSD - Allocating less vram usage with a change to the config file (this worked for a short time and then started messing up again) - Overclocking his GPU -Reinstalling the game (this worked for a little bit but then a new update hit and it messed up performance again) -Scan and Repair game files - running all low settings -running CPU affinity at normal -Power Plan to Maximum Performance -His monitor is plugged into the correct port So this leaves us off with tonight. I was running out of solutions but thought "maybe his CPU is throttling" because he is not familiar with building PCs and might have put an inadequate amount of thermal paste on. So I asked him to record his temperature in game. His Temperature was 90-98c. I immediately told him that was far too high for that chip, and to reapply the thermal paste for tomorrow. But then I asked him to give me his voltage, and his voltage on stock settings was 1.428 under load. Which if I am not mistaken is way too high for Skylake architecture (should be around low 1.3 ish under load I think). BUT THEN, when he was playing...even when he experienced this weird issue where his FPS was dropping to 15-20 FPS...his CPU NEVER THERMAL THROTTLED. It ran at 4.2 on all cores the entire duration. So while that temperature and voltage is something that needs to be addressed, that is not the reason for his performance issues. Another weird part is that people who play Warzone with that CPU are usually pegged at 100% CPU USAGE, his hovers around the 50-60% mark, sometimes lower. I am absolutely perplexed by his performance issues right now. While COD Warzone is a hot mess for optimization, there is no reason he should be getting 15-20 FPS. And it happens so strangely too, some times its fine for a bit and then hard dips for 10 mins until the round is almost over. We thought we fixed it multiple times. The game would run (locked at 63 fps) and experience absolutely no issues. Then the next round it would struggle again as soon as he loaded in. Other times he would struggle for the first 5 minutes of the round, and then his FPS would come back. It is so inconsistent that I cannot nail down this issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TLDR: Friend upgraded to a new CPU and is experiencing worse performance than his old budget build

Hello, all! For the last couple of days I've been trying to record some game footage, more specifically from F.E.A.R., a first-person shooter from 2005, using the recording program Dxtory. I bought it largely because of its customisability, which would allow me to troubleshoot stuff and allow me to record stuff in a way that strikes a balance between quality and efficiency. Now, there has been a weird problem I've been having. I'm currently aiming to record at 1920x1080 at 60fps, and I have been recording to my SSD since my other hard drives are either too full or too slow. With Dxtory enabled but not recording, it manages 1080/60 no problem. It runs perfectly smoothly, no issues, no dips. With Dxtory recording, I get through the intro just fine, but the moment you take some semblance of control is when the frame rate drops to 30fps, and even lower as I progress further to 20, perhaps 15fps. And even more bizarre, after stopping recording, the gameplay would be equally slow. Now, I've used a small array of codecs, those being (in order of use): Lagarith Lossless Codec UtVideo YUV420 BT.709 VCM MagicYUV Lossless v1.2 and x264vfw H.264/MPEG-4 AVC I've tried changing the number of threads being used by Dxtory, changing the settings in each of the codecs according to the recommendations to those who have recommended by individuals doing this on newer games, and despite making no changes to the graphics settings (since my hardware far exceeds the standards of what the game was expected to run on at the time), it's becoming very confusing to me. Upon request I will provide the settings I have been using on an individual basis to see if that helps, but as it stands, I'm at a loss. And it seems to be specific to F.E.A.R., as I'm not experiencing the same issues with any other game. I've tested this in Half-Life 2 and it has no issue with it. Hey guys, Not sure if anyone out there has this CPU, I just recently procured one from a friend. Everything's working well however after fiddling around a bit, I've noticed a strange issue. After playing around with some Overclocking, I was keen to see how my 'new' CPU compared to others on the interwebz. Turns out, rather poorly. Results of my CineBench R15 run: http://imgur.com/a/hD3L3 - Bear mind, this is at 4.5Ghz Original article: http://techreport.com/review/26683/overclocking-the-core-i7-4790k/3 Update: I just ran another CineBench at stock speeds, using CPU-Z to verify the clock speed (stock) + voltages etc. - http://imgur.com/a/l19V1 The webpage on the right shows an article demonstrating their runs with a stock 4790K vs. their OC'd 4790K and a 4770K (which are important as I'm using them as the benchmark to compare my results against). The reason I used this article specifically, is because I'm only running DDR3 1600 Mem, which I thought could be the issue. However they have used similar ddr3 1600 mem in this article so that's shouldn't be the issue. They are however using the newer Z97 chipset, but this shouldn't matter, right? My Specs: i7 4790K CPU 16Gb DDR3 1600 (4x4Gb dimms) Mem Asus Z87 Sabretooth Mobo (with the latest BIOS revision, 2103) Corsair RM750X PSU (Gold Certified) Corsair H75 AIO CPU Cooler Zotac 1070 GPU Samsung Evo 850 250Gb SSD Now I know that that article is a few years old, and that the results of the CineBench R15 I tested could be a bit different so I asked another friend to test with the same updated version. He has a 4770K, with the same DDR3 1600Mhz memory and a MSI Z87 Mobo and gets a score of roughly 700cb (so roughly comparable with what the article showed). If I run the benchmark again (at stocks speeds) I get 680cb, lower than my friends 4770K! That makes very little sense, as at stock settings the 4790K should be appreciably faster than the 4770K. Ok, so maybe there's an issue with the clock speed, or memory settings you say? Well, I've taken out both 2x4Gb pairs and tested them individually and both end up with similar results so it can't be some sort of memory issue (i.e. populating all 4 Dimm slots, which would lead me to believe there's an issue with the motherboard in that case). I even tested with the XMP profile disabled (runs around 50cb slower) to no avail. Whilst running the test again, with CPU-Z open I can indeed confirm the CPU hitting the targeted speeds (4.2Ghz for stock, and 4.5Ghz with the OC). Temps generally tend to stick around the 60-65c mark which is decent as well (when testing it was rather toasty in the room due to it being a very warm evening). As for Motherboard settings, for the stock settings I've used the 'Optimised Defaults' setting, and for the OC I used an Asus tutorial on how to OC on their Z87 platform (official Asus video), starting from 'Optimised Defaults'. I also did a clean install of Windows 10, then installed all of the drivers on the Asus website designed for this motherboard. I then connected the machine to the internet and let Windows Update do its thing. So it shouldn't be a OS/driver issue. The BIOS also had to be updated (as the 4790K doesn't work by default on earlier Z87 mobo's) via the 'USB BIOS Flashback' method. So could anyone with this CPU please run a Cinebench test for me and let me know what their score is? I would also need to know your system specs (CPU, Mem and Mobo). Thx

I posted a similar thread but it seems to be dead and none of the solutions I've tried have worked. My gpu tanks while in game, usually hovering around 70-80%, and very rarely getting into the 90's. This cause my fps to usually max out in the 80's, and getting as low as 50 in some scenarios. And oddly enough the usage seems to go down when there are more intensive moments that would demand more usage. My gpu temperatures don't get higher than 70c. My cpu hangs around ~75% usage and around 55c. Looking back I feel that this trend may have started a year ago when I updated from windows 8 to 10. I'm not sure though. I can't come up with any solution What I've tried: Fresh driver install Fresh install of Windows Switching PCI-E ports Swapping out identical cards Made sure Nvidia control panel was set to prefer max performance Made sure power options in windows were set to high performance Build: i7 4790k @ 4.7ghz MSI z97 g45 gaming MSI 980 ti Corsair Vengeance Pro ddr3 16gb 8x2 1866 Playing @ 1080p 144hz Here are some afterburner graphs while in game:

So after years of hell with apple, and almost .. hmm let me count ... 1 .. 2 ..3 ..4 ..5 ..6 ..7 ..8 ..9 ..10 ...11... no wait 12 repairs, and 3 replacements (given a brand new Mac in box) I have come to find the reason behind why all apples computers have such shity performance when it comes to anything GPU dependent; be it gaming, creating animation, or anything else in that magic box. It has to do with ... bottlenecks. if you ever bothered to look at apple pre-made configurations they boost a fast intel processor, mind it might be a year old, but then gives you a GPU that is to weak for the CPU the offer causing a serious blow to performance when needing that GPU power. If we were able to configure a Mac to be more balanced, in that the GPU and CPU work well together the benchmarks might look somewhat difference in light of performance, given that any base model will have a GPU that is to weak for the CPU. I would love Linus Tech to make a youtube video about this, really testing this out. it would be very interesting to see the results.

Hi guys, As you can tell by the title, I am experiencing several issues with my Pc. It started 3 days ago, when suddenly my pc shut down. I restarted it and suddenly any simple task felt laggy, it took me like 10 seconds to open a browser. I ran a benchmark and every single part of my pc only performed half as good or worse as usual. Hey all, new here and an amateur to PCs in general. I'm having an odd problem with my gaming rig. I've read, researched and tried everything within my knowledge base, and tried many things I've read off here and other forums. I apologise in advance for the wall of text, wanna provide as much detail as possible. My issue is as follows: My rig was originally assembled in a crappy, low budget mATX case where it functioned flawlessly. Ran games like R6 Siege on Med settings at around 180FPS, and Call of Duty: MW at about 120FPS on Med. I then reassembled the machine into a new Corsair Spec Delta case, changed out the Wraith Spire for a Max, and installed a Corsair Pro Controller for my case fans. The only other thing I did was update to the lastest 2020 Edition AMD GPU drivers. Now upon restarting, it ran Call of Duty, although about 20-30FPS lower than before, for about 20min until it began stuttering. Then after another 20min of playing through the stuttering, it would get worse and worse. After quiting the game, the PC ran terribly, laggy mouse, Chrome was laggy and unresponsive, any other applications were also laggy and unresponsive. Restarting the PC fixes everything until about 20min into gaming again, where the issue repeats itself. This is the story playing any game. I have tried changing settings in the Radeon software, rolling back to 2019 Radeon software, putting in game settings to lowest, nothing worked. I have monitored CPU, disk, temps, and RAM usage, and all are normal, no abnormal spikes to be seen. I have also reseated the RAM and GPU, as well as completely wipe my drives and reinstall Win10 again. I have checked the health of my drives using HDSential, both 100%. I'm at a loss at this point, short of fully stripping and reassembling the PC, I don't know what else to do. PC specs: Ryzen 5 2600X MSI B450 Bazooka V2 Corsair LPX DDR4-3000 16GB MSI RX570 ARMOR 8GB OC *Everything is stock clocks minus the XMP profile for max RAM speed.

Hello all, Ok so. I need some serious help because I'm sick of pulling my hair out for about 2 months now with issues after building my first pc ever. First I had bsod for a month before swapping the ram over into the other slots and that fixed that issue. This is my parts that I used to build my new pc: - asrock ab350 k4 gaming mb - ryzen 5 2600x - g-skill fortis 16 gig 2400mhz (x2 8 gig sticks) - asus strix gtx1070 oc 8 gig - viewsonic 27" 2k 60htz monitor - 120 gig ssd for windows - 1tb western digi blue for games and storage (only old part this is a 2010 part) - coolermaster bronze 650w psu Ok, for a start, the above computer cannot run counter strike source (YES SOURCE) fps ranges from 30-300 mostly sits under 100 and dips very frequently to 30-40-50.... It runs csgo with a solid 150 fps lets say all set to high or ultra. It also runs rise of the tomb raider on max with no dips under 60fps. The only other game I notice runs horrible is now pubg going down to as low as 30 which is basically unplayable like css. What I have done or tried: - check ram speeds bios setup / setting - install all latest drivers - windows power settings to max - nvidia options have now all been lowered or turned off completely (vsync, aa etc etc) plus set to max performance - different resolutions - run anti virus scans - clean registry - disk cleanup - run sfc/scannow - run mem test - run driver verifier - remove extra start up items - turned off xbox game dvr via powershell - overclocking gfx card All of this has achieved 0 change the change of 5fps is not worth mentioning or able to actually measure, so it made 0 difference. Counter strike source still runs at 30-90 fps which basically makes it unplayable (or at least not very enjoyable). Am I just really dumb thinking this pc should be getting 300 fps flat ? I'm completely at an end of ideas. I'm leaning towards the fact some hardware may be faulty because the performance is very sub par for what I've built ?????? If that was the case would I get more bsod's ? Or can you have faulty hardware that "works" and does not cause a bsod but causes some other issue ??? One other thing I can note or add is for a first time ssd user, I have to say I do not see any improvement AT ALL over a standard hard drive.... this is another great disappointment as I wasn't going to bother with one in the first place then I did... for what ?? my system takes a good 30 seconds plus to get to the windows login page (even if it was asleep, not power off) then takes a good 2 mins at times to load up windows fully.... Is this normal for an ssd ? why do we even bother with them ? Recently I have constant windows explorer crashes also when I try to view file details, It locks up and crashes certain folder are 100% guaranteed to do this, It happens with both the brand new SSD and the 8 year old HDD. Also before anyone bothers mentioning I have a 60htz monitor so I only need 60 fps. I understand this but 30 fps is "f"ing terrible Please help, because this is extremely frustrating and I feel like I have 100% failed in building a pc. Thanks for reading if you did

Hi everyone, Just last month I set about building a new gaming rig. However a month into my rig being built and used I have noticed a severe decrease in overall performance of Galax RTX 2070 super. This performance decrease is most notable in my frame rate in games such as: League of Legends (140+fps average down to an 75fps average), Modded Minecraft (60+fps down to 30fps) and Apex Legends (144fps down to 100fps.) I have attempted to remedy the situation myself by using DDU to reinstall the drivers as wells as adjusting my overclocking to no avail. I would greatly appreciate any advice (check below for pc specifications.) Hey guys, I recently made a post about having bad performance in Gears 4 however I've realised this problem seems to be across my whole laptop. Since doing a BIOS update the performance of my CPU has gone down and meaning my laptops performance in games has gone down dramatically. Using Hard Ware Monitor I can see that the CPU is reaching its normal frequency around 3.2-3.5 GHz but is reaching high temperatures around 75-85c on all the cores and both Hard Ware Monitor and MSI Afterburner show that the CPU utilisation is not maxed out, not seeing a core use more than about 65% utilisation but my framerates have basically halved. I know its the CPU limiting the framerate as the GPU utilisation is also low and the in built benchmark for Gears 4 shows that the CPU is the part limiting performance. What I've done so far to try and fix this problem was update windows, update all my drivers using the Lenovo Vantage software and uninstalling my graphics card drivers in device manager and then reinstalling them again using Nvidia Geforce Experience. I have also gone back to the BIOS version I was using before I was having problems however this has also not solved the problem. I'm not sure if this is related but I've also noticed that for about 10 minutes after I boot into windows my CPU usage is at 100% by 'system' in task manager which I found out was coming from intelppm.sys which seems to be some intel power management thing. It's worth noting that my performance in games is still bad even after this stops. It's probably also worth mentioning that this laptop is only a couple of months old so I don't think it would be a thermal paste issue and the fan seems to be working all okay. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated and feel free to ask questions. I have included my laptops specs below and the windows version. Hey, this is my first time using a forum like this. I was wondering if someone could help me out. I have had problems with my PC performing below expectations before, but now I decided I should talk to some smart people. I recently downloaded FINAL FANTASY XV on my PC and from what I can tell, it is not performing how it should. On recommended settings, I am getting about 20-27 fps. I had put them on the lowest settings and the fps went up to 30-50 fps on there. I see others getting 60 fps with my same graphics card, I have a gtx 1070 with a decent Intel processor. I have the latest drivers in nvidia and I do not have any outdated PC components as far as I know of.

Hi! I recently bought a Surface Book 2, the 15" model with a GTX 1060. It's an amazing laptop. I can play Fallout 4 in 1920x1200 on the Ultra preset with 60 FPS (vsync) all the time. Or Space Engineers with the High preset in 1920x1200 with 60 FPS (vsync) as well. BUT playing GTA 5 in those resolutions with high settings yields 30-40 FPS. I doubt GTA is so much more demanding then Fallout 4. Is there something I can do about this? I tried updating the GeForce drivers but they are apparently handled by Windows Update on the Surface so it won't let me install drivers manually. I checked thermals with GPU-Z when playing GTA and the GPU was at 67°C all the time. What I found interesting was that the GPU usage in task manaher would go no further then ~70% in GTA, but in Fallout 4 it sits at 90% and when something intensive happens it goes to 100% If you need more information let me know. Hello, I recently built a new pc a week or two ago, Everything was smooth sailing when I fired it up. I could play OW at low settings and easily get 300+ fps, with a fps limit of 180 I could hit 180 easy only using 40-60 percent GPU usage and 15-20 cpu usage. So this past weekend, Finally got around to installing FF14, got it fired up, played great! Was hitting well into 300 fps at lower settings, and everything was solid. Went out to lunch on Sunday, Left my pc running while I was gone. Fired FF back up and was getting very low framerates, and now my gpu usage is at 100% and my thermals go 80+. so I restarted, opened the game back up, same issue. So starting to get concerned I opened OW again, A game I knew I was getting high fps in, and now I only get 120 fps on low settings, and much less on high. So I unistalled and reinstalled the nvidia drivers, that didn't work. Reset the driver settings, That didn't work. So I reinstalled windows and wiped my drives, That didn't do anything. opened FurMark still got only 120-125 fps. Checked my clock speed in game, its at 1860. Again my GPU usage goes to 100%, the gpu temp goes 80+, cpu usage and temp stays normal (20-30 percent in game). I opened up my PC and made sure the card was seated properly, it was. I'm not sure what to do... I'm a tad worried because I bought the GPU off of craigslist off a miner, But it was a spare gpu of his, the plastic and tape was still on the box, and we unboxed it and tested it at his place and it worked fine, plus it worked for for 2 weeks. Could really use some help, I built this system in a node 202 from fractal, so the GPU is seated on a riser. I will try to put the gpu straight on the pci slot tonight and see if I get any luck, but has anybody heard of this or know what the issue could possibly be? Also can a card just go from working fine to shot just like that? So I've been building a new PC for a friend of mine, and I decided to go with a Ryzen system using a 1600x on ASRock's X370 Killer SLI/AC motherboard. The motherboard in general has been acting weird, but the thing that's stood out the most has been the terribly inconsistent performance from the onboard LAN (Intel I211-AT). Sometimes it'll operate at full speeds, but a lot of the time it doesn't. A pattern I've noticed is that it tends to have a bias against Google stuff. Downloading Chrome only goes at 1 Mbps (yes, that's megabits, not bytes), and I can barely play YouTube videos. Windows updates aren't particularly fast either, hovering in the 4-6 Mbps range on average. Multiple sites are in around that same range for downloads. Speed tests using both speedtest.net and fast.com typically go up to around 12-15 Mbps, instead of the 22-26 Mbps I'd usually get on other devices. Here's the precautions I've taken thus far: installing the LAN driver from ASRock's site, installing the latest LAN driver from Intel's site, using Google's public DNS, reinstalling the OS, running Windows in "High Performance" mode, connecting closer to the router, swapping out ethernet cables, flashing different BIOS revisions. Nothing I've done has worked, and I haven't seen this issue reported elsewhere. I have no idea if the bottleneck is the network adapter itself, or if it's something the motherboard is doing. I'm tempted to order a PCIe network adapter to see if I can get better performance, but I feel like that's something I shouldn't need to do. So I'd like to see if I can find a solution to this before jumping the gun on a new LAN card. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

So last week, I bought a Zotac 1060 Amp Edition to replace my budget 750ti and was looking forward to an enormous performance jump. Instead, this card has performed worse than my 750ti. I barely am getting 30 FPS on Fallout 4 on high/ultra settings but even when I dial back the settings to low, the framerate does not increase at all. Borderlands 2 gives me the same problem. Even CS:GO won't run higher than 30-40 FPS. The only game I can get to run decently is Overwatch which runs as high as 65 FPS, but I still get enormous drops down into the 30s. I've uninstalled all of my graphics drivers, reinstalled the drivers, updated Windows, and even flashed a new version of my motherboard's UEFI for good measure. (My system has an i5 4460 and I can't imagine this could be bottlenecking me.) Every benchmark I've seen has the 1060 getting mid-100 FPS in Overwatch on ultra and I can't figure out what's going on with this card. And before anyone says anything, yes, my monitor is plugged into my GPU, not into my motherboard. I've tried the card in both PCIE slots on my motherboard and neither makes a difference. Zotac's technical support won't answer when I call them. I seem to be the only person on the internet having this problem with a 1060 as everyone else can't stop talking about how great their card is running. If anyone has any suggestions as to what I can do to remedy this, I would greatly appreciate it.

The poor performance is only in singleplayer. (Multiplayer plays fine at ~80fps with no changes done to settings). FPS is around 10-15 Cut scenes may go up to 20-40fps GPU Usage is at a steady 30% CPU Usage is inconsistent, between 60-90% but mostly in the 70-80% GPU memory and core clock speeds have no fluctuations. CPU temps are at a steady 55*C GPU temps are at a steady 45*C RAM Usage is around 3,9GB (I got 8GB) Antivirus is not present Specs: GPU: GTX 670 CPU: i5 3350P RAM: 8GB OS: Windows 10

I'm currently sitting on a budget of £600 (roughly $860) and I need to make some magic happen. My poor little AMD based PC has always disappointed me no matter what I threw at it. Here are my current specs, just wondering what the best upgrade path would be: AMD FX-8350 R9 270x Gigabyte GA 990FXA-UD3 8GB Corsair Vengeance 120GB Samsung 850 Evo 500GB Hard Disk I'm wondering whether I should hold out until Zen's ultimate release and pair one of those newer CPU's with something like a 390x or an R9 Nano? I'm also very tempted to swap over to the Intel/Nvidia side of things and get myself an i5 with a 980 but it's really pushing my budget to the limit. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi, i recently built a gaming PC and have always had this problem. When playing games i can usually max out, i always seem to go from a steady 60+ FPS to about 30FPS. I took some screenshots of the graphs on MSI Afterburner while playing GTAV, http://imgur.com/a/lM06j, its a bit messy mind, but I noticed that the GPU utilization keeps going from about 90 to 50, and at the same time the power goes from 65 to 55, and the OV and Voltage Max go to 0 and Utilization limit goes to 1. My GPU is overclocked to 1005 Mhz with a boost of about 1270 Mhz, and the memory is OC'd to 3071 Mhz. I don't think it's because of the OC's because they were only recent and this has been happening since i built this PC. My temps never go over about 70 while playing and the limit is 95 i believe. My FPS goes down at the same time is the clock speed does. Here are some of my system specs: Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.150316-1654) Processor: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Processor (8 CPUs), ~4.0GHz Memory: 8192MB RAM Available OS Memory: 8174MB RAM Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 PSU: Corsair CX Series 750 Watt ATX/EPS Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 Motherboard I've been searching for a solution for about a week now and I haven't been able to find one, I'd really appreciate if someone could help me out a bit here because getting bad fps is not fun. Hello, I recently put together computer out of case for testing. Windows starts but startup is very slow. Windows health report says that the CPU/Memory/Graphics/Storage are all running with poor performance regardless of all tests being passed. The Windows performance index says it can't generate a score because it can't evaluate the memory performance. I tested all DIMMs individually and the same results occurred. Windows Memtest halted at 21% of an extended test, but memtest86+ results in no errors after 6 hours of testing and also couldn't give the memory speed. AISA64 seems to show all cores and memory performing reasonably.Tests by hardware specific software (ROG tests) seem to show no problems. At first I thought memory, but the health report and (individual dimm) memory testing makes me think it's something else... Is this possibly a motherboard issue with connectivity? Iffy processor? Testing all stock values Mobo: ASUS Rampage V U3.1 BIOS 1401 RAM: G.Skill F4-3000C15Q-16GRK Processor: Intel 5960x Just with a stock cooler for testing phase PSU: ax1500i (overkill now, but for what it will eventually become) Video: GTX980 updated drivers Storage: Intel 750 (drivers installed) Windows 7 x64 Home Premium SP1 Help would be greatly appreciated, anything should be RMA-ed soon Thanks, Obsidian
