It seems that during the Pokemon go fest in Chicago the servers were not working, users were not able to play the game leaving many fans out raged Niantic at first issued a refund of 100 dollars of in-game currency but later offered a full refund of 20 dollars for the wrist bands. http://fortune.com/2017/07/22/servers-failing-pokemon-go-fest/

Fellow Techies. I know I haven't posted here in a while.... years even! TECHTUBERS BEWARE! I just had to post about this because I feel it warrants urgent attention. Particularly our community. Just finished watching the latest WAN show and my brain hurt with the entire topic of YouTube and demonitiseing of "sexual content flagging" I am not sure how much of this can be proven at this stage but we are ALL familiar with the ever popular "Pokemon Go" app. Scrolling through my YouTube recommended tab and I stumbled across a video produced by the guy who runs "TrainerTips" channel ( A massive Pokemon Go community/let's play channel titled "YouTube DELETED my Pokemon Go Channel for SEXUAL CONTENT" WTF!!!!! Nicholas, posting from his alternative, personal channel. Not only did his video get flagged for " sexual content" and removed but it went way beyond and wait for it... NOT ONLY DELETED SAID VIDEO, NOT HIS CHANNEL BUT HIS ENTIRE GOOGLE ACCOUNT.. WAIT... WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K YOUTUBE. One theory, based on his subscribers was due to video titling including CP (combat power abrivation for pokemon go characters). Nicholas also states that fellow pokemon go based channels and other communities that use CP references eg Club Penguin etc. If that is true then again WHAT THE F**K. The ALGORITHM tweaking needs to be THOR HAMMERED. The main concern and my reasoning for bringing it to our Community attention. If CP is doing this? THEN WHAT ABOUT EVERY TECHTUBER UPLOADS VIDEOS INC CPU in the title too? SCARY SH*T GUYS AND GIRLS. PLEASE DISCUSS.

Trainer Tips and MYSTIC7 are two content creators that make Pokemon Go videos, on Youtube. These creators are well known in the Pokemon Go community and also by Niantic, the creator of the Pokemon Go app. They were several times sponsored by Niantic. This morning, their channels were terminated for violating community guidelines. MYTIC7 posted, on twitter, that is channel "went down for community guideline strikes for sexual content". 18 hours later, their channels are still terminated. Even if Youtube is aware of the problem. These two creators were only posting Family Friendly content related to Pokemon Go. These Youtube termination are getting out of hand ... Edit and Followup : Their channels are back up. Edit 2 and second followup : Trainer Tips posted a video on his other channel. At 6:30, he explains that the Youtube algorithm went after his channel for using the term "CP". In Pokemon Go it means "Combat Power", but the Youtube algorithm mistaken it for "Child Porn". He adds that this already happened to WWE videos, because they use "CP" to refer to "CM Punk" and Club Penguin videos, "CP" referring to the name of the game.

Long story short: I need help finding a device under $250 that is easy to root, has good battery life, and a nice display. Long story: I'm trying to root a phone so I can spoof my location in Pokemon Go. I don't want to void the warranty on my personal phone, so I tried doing it with my old one, an LG Stylo 2V, it didn't work and the phone's battery sucks. I decided that I would buy a cheap phone that's easy to root, has a good battery life, and decent display. I went into bestbuy and decided on the Moto G7 Power. I ordered it from Amazon and when I got it I discovered that the phone has a ridiculous flaw, it's a brick. The phone doesn't respond when plugged in or turn on when you press the power button. Apparently the solution to this is to hold the power button for 15 seconds on and off until it turns on again. I've only successfully done this once and it took an entire day. The phone was forced to restart when updating and the same thing is happening again, so I'm going to return it. Now I need help deciding on a new device that I can root easily.

Nowadays the tech we use relies heavily on data communication and location information and this can certainly be a drain on you phones battery life. I’m talking to you Pokemon go users. Cheap battery banks you may think do the job of keeping your phone topped up but in reality you will be paying for a product with false capacity, dodgy circuitry and just a poor quality product but this is no longer your only option on a budget. For only £21.99 you can pick up the Anker Power Core 10000. What’s so good about this battery? Anker only uses high quality Panasonic cells inside to not only deliver a high amperage output but at a constant rate. High efficiency circuitry that allows you to get the most out of the batteries. Solid construction (found out through a little accident that apparently you can drop this thing off a head height shelf and its total fine) as it is made of durable ,non fingerprint attracting plastic. "Power IQ "technology allows the device to recognize what phone you have plugged in and then supply the phone with the correct amount of amps to charge it as fast as the device is rated to do. Small, very small. This battery pack is the ideal size just to slip into your trousers back pocket and not create must of a bulge and is still comfortable when sitting down. Capacity. This battery is great for power users (pun intended) as it will charge most modern phones around 3 times which is not bad considering most battery banks this price will often do around 2-1 and a half charges Includes handy micro USB cable to charge the device and your phone. What’s not so great? To be honest there is not really anything to say on this matter unless you are being nit-picky and need a small little LED light found on most battery packs but let’s be real who uses them? (Note this product does not support Qualcomm quick charge but Anker offers a variant of this power core that does and only for a few pounds more)

I live in a small town with only 4 Pokemon gyms. The problem that we have is that a lot of people from nearby cities are GPS spoofing their Pokemon go game, and taking over our gyms with high level Pokemon. For example, I took over a LV 7 gym today at a local ballfield. Right after I captured it for my team ( go instinct) a player took it over from me and dumped a 2400cp charzard ( Fing valor). I look around, and nobody is even within sight, and there are no houses close by. Go to battle it, and boom, it's now a level 4 gym with many 1000+ CP Pokemon. All trainers with similar names. Again, nobody within 1km of me. There is currently no way to report these dicks, and they are ruining the fun for our rual town.

Catch em all..Maybe later.. According to data collected by Sensor Tower, SurveyMonkey and Apptopia, The number of daily active users, downloads, engagement and time spent on the Trending Pokemon Go app each day are off their highs from just a month a go and are showing to be on a downward path , Pokemon Go became the most downloaded app on both Apple and Android phones within days of its release in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. U.S. online sales for Pokemon-branded merchandise rose 105 percent in July compared with the previous year, inb4 Gotye's new song "Now you're just some app that i used to know" The app have been a source of weird news for the past few months, People flooding certain areas & some distracted too much disregarding their surrounding getting hurt , it even helped some of the physical stores boost their sales ( one retail chain even reported sales increase by 100% after the store hosted the pokestop) some users stumbled upon dead bodies some fell off cliffs and the app users have been reportedly targeted by criminals who robbed users when they approach region to catch the pokemon(where's Pikachu when you need him) ,Reported road accident(s) due to usage while driving , was a report that a pregnant lady got hit by a car while playing The popularity of the app has been so much general consumers moved over from certain apps they used daily & were more engaged in the Pokemon go app , which technically doesn't sit well with investors & share holders who expect profits from the company , kinda look at it like printed newspaper loosing to online media, it's gonna do what it can to keep afloat , according to Axiom Capital Management Pokemon Go is starting to lose the battle for mobile 'mindshare' What do You have to say on this? Hey guys! I was out the other day at this park on a hill with a friend, and I was taking a look at my current pokemon. I noticed that I had a really high CP goldeen with decent IVs that I should evolve, but I needed a couple more candies. God answered me, and I found one! Oh, and I caught this along the way too.

Hi (I am sorry if this belongs elsewhere, but I wasn't sure). As most people have, I have had Pokemon Go for a while. I am playing it on my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 rooted with CyanogenMod Lollipop. I have gone on a data plan today, and I've only just realised how slow it's going to be and how bad the battery drain is. I do, however, own a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 tablet. Is it possible, using a hotspot to share my data with my tablet, that I could play it on there? It is not a cellular tablet, so is that going to be an issue? Thanks, Alpha.

Today TunnelBear was pretty cool. For the last few days I'm been itching to try Pokemon Go. For the last few days I've been just staring at "Not Available in you region" on the Google Play store with udder sadness and hearing other people talk about it with jealousy. Ingress go me hooked in augmented reality gaming and I had to have this Pokemon DLC. Well, No longer am I a "have-not Pokemon Go", today TunnelBear made me a have. Steps to achieve Pokemon Go Greatness within Canada: 1. Create new Google account making sure to specify your account as being in the sucky ol USA slightly less awesome United States of America. I just hopped into Incognito mode for a couple minutes to make the account. 2. Add this new Google account to your cell phone. Don't worry, Android supports multiple Google accounts. 3 Install TunnelBear. Make account. Flick the single button to turn on the VPN. 4. Open Google Play Store, switch to the USA account, Search "Pokemon GO" 5. Be delighted that the stupid "Chat for Pokemon Go" isn't the first option. And I even have 450MB to go this month before I even have to think about paying anything. Not bad TunnelBear.. Not bad. No janky APK sideloading for me. Now for Pokemon GO ... hold on .. I think I see something ... brb

Surprised to see no active threads to Pokemon Go (just a quick search). For those who don't know there is a new app out that is amazing! Honestly I have not touched the last few generations of Pokemon. Anything after the DS came out just didnt feel right to me, but to each their own. This is a new itteration of the beloved original in app form. Who among you have downloaded it? What do you think?

So as it turns out, logging into Pokemon Go on iOS (possibly Android) gives full access to your Google account. This includes, but is not limited to your geo location, mail, drive, calendar, etc. Removing the app from the permissions page doesn't seem to effect use of the application at this time. Hopefully they can get this fixed, because as it stands that's a MASSIVE security hole for a lot of accounts. Found this interesting. I'm part of the GO beta so I thought I'd post about it. Original Article This news is several months old, but I keep forgetting to post it. I have not seen anyone in the community report it, so I guess I should post it now before the Pokemon GO conference later today. (Check back here at 10 AM PT for coverage of that.) As revealed by tech gear website SlashGear, the decompiled code for Pokemon GO has revealed the game is programmed to work with virtual reality headsets such as Google Cardboard. When you wear the headset with your smartphone connected, this means you should be able to see Pokemon in their real-world environment in an Augmented Reality setting. In other words, you’ll be fully immersed in the game’s visuals as if you’re in the actual video game. The game’s code for the virtual reality compatibility is currently inactive in the beta, but that will probably change at some point — likely when the game sees its full release. It’s not surprising the game would be compatible with Google Cardboard considering Niantic has ties to Google. According to SlashGear’s sources, the game’s VR capabilities are being tested by both Google and The Pokemon Company. Perhaps one day we’ll actually be able to walk around with these virtual reality headsets on and see Pokemon around us in our real world. Thanks goes to my film school friend Paisley S. for alerting me to this story! She’s spearheaded many virtual reality projects, so for her to show me this means it’s a big deal.
