I heard about the refreshed Xbox Series X on GameLinked as thats where I get all of my gaming news. lol But as you can deduce from the title, I'm a bit disappointed that it's digital only. I understand that discs for modern consoles act simply as glorified download codes, but like I want my wall of plastic cases! XD So I was pondering if this is actually a bad thing though. There is the concern of ownership for certain, but like maybe this isn't a bad thing? Steamdeck is digital only and the PC space has effectively been digital only for years now. Has the time come? Am I old now? Is it just an old woman yelling at the sun when I say I want and will continue for as long as possible to purchase physical media regardless? lol Though I was curious as to people's thoughts on the subject manner. Do you think this is a good thing or a bad thing? Also is Riley really that white? Him and I might have something in common after all! XD

So I'm a huge fan of physical media, I even collect game discs for PC games, not just consoles, however an interesting question came to mind. So the idea behind having a physical disc at least for me is in the case that the online purchasing of the media is to ever go offline, I still have a physical copy I can install from. When installing Jedi Survivor on my Xbox Series X you can see in the attachment below that is claims just under 3GB on the disk were taken and the remainder was being downloaded. I might just be dumb or never paid attention to it until now, but with game sizes getting huge due to graphical increases, are companies no longer storing the entirety of a game on the disc itself? Has the disc become a type of download code? I certainly hope the entirety of the base game is on the disc for the sake of preservation, but it's not looking like it. Plus I don't know of any discs that can store 100s of GB. Took a cruise through Reddit and came across this discussion It would seem to suggest that discs are just download codes effectively and the only real plus side of them is to have that giant cool looking wall of just endless plastic and discs that you can awe at. Personally I'll keep buying physical for the principle and the awe affect, but I'm certainly concerned about the possibilities of personal preservation endeavors due to this idea. Also, I attached a photo of my console set up if you guys are interested. It isn't perfect, but it works pretty well, plus I have a power strip hooking all the consoles up, so I turn the power strip off whenever I'm not playing. I do this for electrical and fire safety reasons as I have a lot of older consoles that I don't trust being hooked up with power without my super vision. IMG_4434.HEIC IMG_4435.HEIC

I can play GTA: San Andreas with a PS4 controller on my iPhone. I can install and play the iOS-version of GTA: San Andreas on my M1 Mac from the Mac App Store. But how do I use the PS4 controller with iOS games on my M1 Mac? I can activate a "controller simulation" feature from the app menu, but it wants to use the keyboard and trackpad. The controller is connected via Bluetooth, and when I press the PS-button my Mac shows a folder with games. Anyone with a M1 Mac that can use a PS4 controller to run iOS games from the Mac App Store?

So my ps3 hard drive is old and getting slow. So I wanted to upgrade the HDD but I do not have a dualshock or sixaxis controller to be able to able to install the updat file onto. (makes you push START and SELECT). is there anyway way to be able to do this with out a ps3 controller. Im using a Dualshock4 and have one of the move controllers with the X and O buttons to be able to navigate menus and stuff. Could i just get a USB to sata adapter and use the backup utility to clone the drive? Will using a game disk or CD with the updat file on it automatically play? will a knock off ps3 controller work? or any other ideas? thank you

https://www.windowscentral.com/uk-parliament-discussing-motion-make-scalping-consoles-xbox-series-xs-and-ps5-illegal https://www.thegamer.com/uk-may-make-scalping-illegal-soon/ At last! Gamers rejoice! The first step towards progress is about to happen, although console gamers caught us in our sleep seems they cared to lobby more than pc gamers But it is a first step and if it actually happens I think the door opens for PC parts as well. Which will corner the rest of the chain since even AIBs sell at scalping prices nowadays but now (hopefully if UK indeed will make it illegal) they won't have any excuses to do so and if they keep at it then we could probably press for them as well since there (hopefully again) will be a legal precedent UK, I didn't expect that from you, I thought EU would make the first step, nevertheless congratulations!

Summary Dbrand has started offering matte black replacement plates for the Sony Playstation 5 console and dares Sony to sue them. The initial waves are sold out and new orders won't ship until May 2021. Quotes My thoughts They look really nice and I am thinking about placing an order myself. Hopefully Sony doesn't actually try to sue Dbrand here since Dbrand is not using the Playstation name or logos on their design at all. I am pretty sure that's why Platestation 5 was forced to shut down and not actually just offering new plates. My ping is suddenly higher specifically on overwatch’s eu server. About 2 weeks ago I would get about 200-230 ping but now it’s at a constant 300ms. Nothing has changed on my end, same devices, same modem, router and isp. I could only imagine the isp has changed their route to the eu server. One thing to note is that I did have this issue about a month ago, but it seemed to be fixed once I factory reset my router. This time though, I’ve restarted, reset every network device I have but nothing improved my ping. Is there anything I can do to resolve this? As this has happened before once and it was resolved as previously mentioned. edit: forgot to mention that my ping in every other regional server on blizzard has the same latency as always.

I have recently sold my RTX 3090 due to it's value as I couldn't miss a free £1200 profit lol. Anyway, in the meantime for the next year or so i'm going to focus on some studying and maybe play some older games to keep me occupied... I am thinking of buying one of the new Xbox or Playstation consoles to put in my living room for friends when they come over and it would be great if any of the old classics could be played on them. As far as you are aware, are any of the following games available to buy on the stores that also work on the latest Xbox or Playstation? 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand Burnout Revenge Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night Hogs of War Mercenaries 2: World in Flames Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath Team Buddies The Godfather The Godfather 2 The Punisher Tony Hawk: American Wasteland Tony Hawk: Underground 2 Stranglehold Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses Many thanks in advance.

Hello there. __Introduction__ I've recently been setting up my home theater equipment in a new apartment, but I have been experiencing a few problems down the road. Most notably, loss of audio. Due to the handful of devices connected, there wasn't enough HDMI-in ports on my AV receiver. To get around this, I've invested in a HDMI switch, so I can take on more signals from various devices. Since my AV receiver handles the surround sound speakers, everything goes through that. __The Problem__ Temporarily, my consoles would send the signal to the AV receiver, which would then send the signal to the TV, so no problems there. However, to get more inputs, everything went from the consoles, through a HDMI switch, then to an AV receiver, then finally to the TV. But for some reason, this kills the audio signal entirely. None of the consoles detect an audio output anymore, so the speakers remain silent (both on the AV receiver and TV). If there's only 1 "middle man" in this chain (HDMI Switch or AV Receiver), then both audio and video works fine. But if both are added to the chain, the audio is lost entirely, and not even shown as an output on any of the consoles. __Alternatives__ I'm currently thinking of a workaround, where the consoles would send video to the TV directly, and audio would be sent to the AV receiver via TOSLINK for audio. Once I get the necessary cables, I'll be trying that out. __Components__ - Samsung UE32ES635U - LG HB965TZ - Delcato HDMI-7044 - PlayStation 3 Super Slim - Xbox ONE - Xbox 360 Original

Hi everyone, I finally got my hands on a PS5 after overpaying $930 after tax on a Newegg shuffle bundle. I've watched a ton of videos about the PS5 thermal performance including GN's thermal breakdown, and I have to say, they were right about how HOT this thing runs. It certainly helps understanding the airflow pattern and the blower style cooler but I currently have the console on the horizontal stand because the console is also as big as an old VCR. I was wondering if anyone knew of vented/mesh side panel replacements for the PS5 disc edition? I wanted to get the dbrand dark plates that Linus showed off on Short Circuit a while back, but if there are performance panels elsewhere, I think I'll go that route instead.

Is this real?!?! Apparently 980 Pro having issues in PS5
Qrtrmstr2k posted a topic in Console Gaming
Short but sweet…apparently there might be an issue with the Samsung 980 Pro running in the PS5…maybe it’s an issue with the drive the end user has?? Maybe it’s limited to some drives…maybe it’s a real issue?? I only stumbled into this lastnight, not my video… -
In this article titled "Give Your PS4 a Speed Boost While You Wait For a PS5": http://superjumpmagazine.com/give-your-ps4-a-speed-boost-while-you-wait-for-a-ps5-2432bec8b7e8 It says putting a cheap $35 250gb SSD inside the PS4 just for the OS, and reusing the stock drive externally for games will prevent the menu lag and stuttering on the PS4. Does anyone have experience in doing this?
-
Budget (including currency): 2TB SSD maximum. Country: Norway Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Playstation 5. Mainly I wanna buy a 1TB or 2TB Gen 4 NVME SSD for the PS5, preferably something top quality. Did look up Crucial but they only have Gen 3 and no heatsink! So wait for Crucial to make one or should I maybe buy another brand? Considering the latest umm scandal Linus and group exposed it's probably best to about the usual players like ADATA, Patriot, HyperX and others who do not manufacture DRAM?

PS5 is Really Lagging Behind Xbox Series X Right Now!
Michael Kelso posted a topic in Console Gaming
Hey y'all I wanted to share this interesting article I found on medium.com. http://medium.com/super-jump/every-advantage-the-xbox-series-x-has-over-the-ps5-29775f5340e7 It's goes really in depth into all the advantages the Series X has over the PS5. Theres surprisingly a lot, and the new ps5 update only fixed 2 of them. (Still waiting on VRR Sony!) It's kinda shocking how much Sony can get away with being the winner last generation. One of them is why did Sony get all the credit with their "tempest engine" 3d audio tech when right now Microsoft is doing the better job. Xbox has their own audio processor just like Sonys, and they have 3 different hrtf software implementations (Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, DTS X) to choose from compared to Sonys. And they have been supporting them since the Xbox One! Also the PS5 can't actually output any 3d surround signals to home theatre systems, while xbox can. Sony needs to get rid of "lying Jim Ryan" and get their own "Phil Spencer" rival. Also really agree with both Linus and this article about all the potential e-waste and wasted money not allowing PS5 games to support PS4 dualshock controllers. -
I know I'm not the first to say this so I am interested in doing the same thing. The ol PHAT PS3s tend to suffer from heat and would like to water cool the system. My problem is I can't find any waterblock designed for a PHAT PS3. Koolance and OCool aren't available anymore so I wonder if anyone can help me out in finding a good waterblock to use?

oof Summary PlayStation has been getting hacked!! They have disabled the servers until further notice to stop the hackers and fix the flaws in their security system. LittleBigPlanet's twitter account shared a statement about the hacks stating "Due to the severity of the recent attacks we have no other option than to temporarily disable the game servers. We do not take these attacks lightly especially when they target our loyal community members. Thanks for understanding." - LittleBigPlanet twitter account. The servers should be back up once PlayStation fixes the security flaws. Quotes My thoughts LittleBigPlanet just has not had good luck like ever. The best LittleBigPlanet was on the Vita in my opinion. Yes I had a PS Vita and I loved it. I recently read somewhere that someone was interested in a broken PS3, it had the yellow light of death, but would only take some of them based on their timing of when the yellow light pops up. They wanted to know how long the green light is displayed when you try to power on before the yellow/red light comes on. What's the difference between the yellow/red light coming on within a second and the yellow/red coming in longer then this?

A hot take. For the last week I have been using a PS4 Pro, I own an all digital One S as well, also I’ve had a base PS4 for approx. two years prior and a borrowed Xbox One X for a couple of months, before I got my own One S. I got the PS4 Pro to play some exclusives (Spider-Man and Ghosts of Tsushima) and I’m actually quite dissappointed. The difference in quality for the first party game is fairly minimal (on a 43 inch tv at least) and the work culture of the console is just attrocious, until very recently I was seriously considering getting a PS5, but after just a week of using the PS4 Pro I started to highly doubt whether the new consoles will hold long term. And the shop I got it from cleaned the console out for me, so I can only imagine what it was like before. The console is so loud, it’s almost unplayable on speakers on my normal sound level; living in a small appartment it’s completly unplayable when my SO is in the same room working without ANC headphones, and it’s completly unplayable in night, when one of us is trying to sleep. For playing first party games it’s not worth the hassle over base PS4 which is quiter and smaller (I had to rearrange my whole cabinet and cable setup, even though all the other consoles fit my space with reasonable breathing room). For playing third party games the One X is in the worst case scenario similar, while being, comparatively ofcourse, barely audible. And the cherry on top is that I didn’t check if PS4 plays 4k blu-ray, so now I have to either side-grade my One S to one with optical or upgrade to One X if I want to watch movies.

Hi. Im thinking of buying a Playstation 4, but im not too sure what to get. So I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the difference betweena PS4 (orginal) and a PS4 slim since they are the easiest to find and buy second hand. And how would they perform with games like Farcry 5, Cod, and those types of games?

So... i've recently looked at lots of options and watched a lot of content on MANY gaming platforms in my search for that holy grail... one platform to rule them all... so, if I was a hobbit, I'm looking for that ring of power! I can tell you, I haven't found it yet but with most of the developer big boys focusing on getting their games working on multiple platforms, it's only logical that the platform providers try to present the perfect platform and freedom of choice to the consumer. The closest I have got so far that presents that PC, console and cloud gaming "box of fun" in a single subscription service, is Game Pass Ultimate from Microsoft but that has it's limitations. Nvidia Games is a close second but I havent got this working on a console... yet... Linus did a comparison video of these platforms a while back but alot has changed, even since that video so has anyone else found that gaming nirvana that gives you the option of freedom of choice both on gaming platform and content/game providers offering cross platform games?

So here we are again... Six or so months ago, I finished my first small form factor build; a gaming rig inside an Dreamcast shell. It was an...interesting learning curve, with non-standard components I wasn't used to using, and a LOT of dremel work. But obviously now I have to go bigger and better, and having done SFF, I've got to try something else I've not done....enter water cooling THE PLAN Of course, the case. We've got the classic...the one...the only...the FAT PS2. Roughly 3.8L in size. The last system was Intel based, so for that reason alone I'm going to make this an AMD build. The graphics card will hopefully be more powerful, I'm looking at a 1080, or a 2060S. Ram, 16Gb. That's an easy one. Storange size unknown, but it'll be M.2. Watercooling, obviously...I'd like the CPU and GPU both to be in the loop if at all feasible. As with the Dreamcast, from the front I want it to be as sleeper as possible. only the keen eye should be able to tell what's inside...

I am looking into getting a ps3, and I would like to know if it is backwards compatible with earlier PlayStation games. I mainly want to play the old gran turismo games and the early resident evil games. Thanks!
