Hi guys, I'm having a really frustrating problem with my wireless headphones. I'm using the Plantronics Rig 800HX Wireless Xbox/PC headset, which utilises a USB wireless Transmitter/Receiver. I have decided to try and resolve sound distortion problems that have plagued my Warzone gaming for some time now. Initially thinking it was just warzone, I have been messing with the in-game settings, which made no difference. However, when testing the headset with the standard Windows Sound Control Panel, I have noticed that even the test audio is distorted. When I set the output to my 3.5mm jack-connected speakers, I get no such distortion, it's as clean and crisp as anything regardless of volume. I have tried all of the following; Every single one of the Sound Format options Swapping the USB ports Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers several times Changing the exclusive control options Swapping wireless adapters with my Xbox ... and none of these make any difference. The test sound is the same regardless of the settings. Also, the distortion occurs at ALL VOLUME levels, and does not change one bit between them. The sound is exactly the same. I know for a fact this is a PC-side issue and not an issue with the headset, as they do not distort at all on my Xbox. As a temporary solution, I have installed EqualiserAPO and stuck a pre-amp of -20dB on it, which seems to have aleviated most of the distortion. Previously I've had to play on 20/100 as anything above that was just too loud, but now my system volume is set to 60-70/100. What it does mean, however, is my headphones thinking I'm deaf as they're now assuming a very high volume, so they scream at me with battery level indicators. Does anyone have any ideas what I should or could do? Any assistance would be massively appreciated! For reference, this is the test sound I'm talking about;

I have the headset mentioned in the title, connected via USB-c thru Plantronics BT700 Adapter. It is registered under Device Manager as "Headset Microphone" and "Headset Earphone" I think what I am looking for (comparing to my working gaming headset) is "Headphones" and "Microphone", is there any way to override this, or an alternative way to use this device for gaming? The audio works great when just playing computer audio, but the moment you try to use the Mic, (open a game, join discord) it sounds as if it is audio coming thru a phone call.

Hello LTT community! I have an interest in the SHURE SRH440 (upgrading to the fabric cups because of the heat generated by the pho-leather). With this solution I will need to buy the cups, a mic splitter, and a mic (or just a mic with an in-line splitter). However, the Plantronics RIG 400HS has the microphone and the padding already but has cables on both ears, which I severely dislike. I currently have the AKG Y50's but the on-ear (supraaural) design which leads to me having migraines while using them for more than two hours at a time. Instead, the SHURE and Plantronics are circumaural headphones (aka: over-ear) which will be far more comfortable over longer sessions whatever I may be doing. So I pretty much have decided (unless someone wants to change my mind) on going with the SHURE, however I am at a brick wall because while I want good audio quality, it's hard for me to know what microphones could work with this headset. A cheap solution would just run a cheap lav mic down to a splitter through the headphone cable. However I understand that this has several constraints including audio degradation, hissing, and simply sounding quiet. So I was looking into cheaper solutions like the Mod Mic and found the V-Moda Boom Pro and the V-Moda SpeakEasy Mic Cable. So... Will either work with the SHURE or am I S.O.L.? Thanks for anyone who replies!

Hey, i'm currently in the market for a new pair of gaming headphones, and have decided to go down the separate headphones and mic route. i would be looking at a pair of DT 990's with a ModMic 4/5. my main problem however is that i would really like to keep the mic loop-back feature that my current Plantronics RIG headset has. my plan is to get an adaptor like this http://www.misco.co.uk/product/198034?affiliate=GOOGLEPLA&cm_mmc=google-_-Product_PlusBox-_--_-198034&gclid=Cj0KEQjw4cLKBRCZmNTvyovvj-4BEiQAl_sgQmjPkGFr3g-0y01R7DlP0R_wtLjXoSdTP2CssNz2tDIaAnGS8P8HAQ and plug both the dt990 and the modmic into the headset port on the RIG to provide the same loop back. I believe that the RIG mixer acts like a DAC because the output from the pc is a USB (digital) and the output is 3.5mm 4pin (analogue) and to my knowledge is also a AMP due to the ability to change the volume. I've done quite a lot of online research into using the RIG mixer as a DAC/AMP that would also allow for hardware mic loop-back but found almost nothing. would this work, and if so, approximately how much quality would i sacrifice by doing this. also that would be the best OMH resistance to buy the dt990's in for such a setup. many thanks

Spec Page Thoughts? Here in PH, it's the same price as a Cloud I. The USB thingamajig looks interesting. The 7.1 surround is software-based though so no point including that in the "value" of the product.

Hello. What's the difference between those two headsets and which should I buy considering I have Asus Xonar DX? Thank you. P.S. I don't like the design of HyperX Clouds.

I have narrowed down my chooses to 4 headphones. I put the in order from best to worst from the reviews I read online. But I only tried 1 so if there is someone that tried some of those let me know how they are. 1. Steelseries Siberia V1 Asus Republic Of Gamers Edition 2. CM Storm Ceres 500 3. Genius HS-G550 Lychas - I tried them at my friends house and they are really good, maybe a bit too heavy on the base, and heavy in general. But they are pretty decent. 4. GameCom 367 Plantronics

Hello everyone, I can't decide between two headsets. They are the Hyper X cloud 1 / 2 and the Plantronics RIG 500E. My question to you is, Have you owned or used either headset ? Which one do you recommend.

Hi, the first thing I want to say, sorry for my english. Well, I have a pair of Plantronic headset (Gamecom 777), after almost 3 years, their time is over, so I have to buy a new one! I am not an audiophile, but I hate the distortion, besides I like feel the bass because of the music I usually listen to. I have 60$/€ to spend, so I can't consider buy good headphone and a 9 bucks mic, because I just HATE that mics like Zalman ZM1 that looks like it will break just touching it (I don't like use windows volume control) Then I'm looking for the best headset in my money range. I like Plantronics Gamecom 788, because I like this brand, and some people call this headset the best price-quality headset under 100. I read it has a good sound and bass quality and a good mic aswell, however the materials are poor, but I do not care so much, my actual Plantronics are made in plastic and they had had a long life. My other question it is about HyperX Cloud 2, a lot of people and rewiews call the HXC2 the best price-quality headset in the market, they talk about the amazing sound quality (not so good bass), the materials, the mic... But. This cost 90 depends on where you are looking for, and I'm not really sure of try to buy this because of the price (obviously) and because I read a lot of people talking about auricular issues, like stop working with some months of use, issues with the DAC that HXC2 brings... Some questions then... -It really worth to pay a 40€ difference between 788 and Cloud2 because of the sound quality? I don't have dedicated audio card, just motherboard integrated. I don't know if I really will feel a truly difference between them. I mean, like if I test 10€ generic brand and Sennheiser HD 439. -If I turn off the 7.1 button on HXC2. Does the mic still working? -Do anyone of you have some issues like mentioned? -Some objetive opinion about 788? Thanks in advance!

Hi, folks, I'm looking for the crowd-sourced wisdom of the LTT forum for suggestions pertaining to my question in the topic title. I recently purchased Plantronic's Backbeat Pro (not the more recent Pro+) and have managed to successfully pair it with my PC (running Windows 10) via a third-party Bluetooth USB dongle called BlueSoleil (I currently live in Seoul, and this was the only product on hand at the time of purchase). I'm pretty content with the sound quality, but my only problem is that when I first turn on the headphones and the PC's Bluetooth, the sound quality seems to default to a very tinny sounding "phone-call" quality sound. I then have to turn off the Bluetooth on my PC then activate the "Bluetooth Advanced Audio" features manually in order to get a connection that allows for "music-level" quality sound. So I'm wondering if there is a way to make the connection default to the "Bluetooth Advanced Audio," so I don't always have to fiddle with the settings each time I put on my headphones. It's very annoying whenever I want to listen to some tunes or start a gaming session. One caveat, even though I'm happy to say that my desktop PC is my first build, I'm still pretty much a liberal arts guy who feels he's (virtually) walking among more technically adept people, so please...not too esoteric with the PC speak! Best regards, Captain Kibosh

Hi guys, I have searched this forum and I've seen a few white noise topics but they usually seem to refer to a clip on mic (mod mic I think) but its something I don't have. Right now im using a Plantronics 380 with a dolby USB adapter that came with the older model Gamecom 777 because if I recorded without it, I couldn't hear my mic or I couldn't even hear game audio well and whenever I try to record with the USB adapter white noise is there. Whenever I mute the mic from the headset itself (side of the ear cup) the white noise disappears. The USB adapter plugs into my front ports of my case. (Silverstone raven RV02-E) My friend has told me a few suggestions like getting a new headset (he suggested the hyper X cloud II) or get a sound card I think he suggested one of the old Asus Xonar 5.1 PCI-E (or PCI cant remember) sound cards which is about 50 AUD I think. I am not 100% sure which I should choose because if I likely buy one of these and they don't fix the problem its kinda money down the drain. I did get to try out the cloud headset itself at PAX AUS with the 1 jack going into the USB adapter but really couldn't test recording there. I don't exactly want to spend a lot just for a solution to this(the Hyper X cloud II price is probably the highest im willing to go which is about 130 AUD from pccasegear) I have also tried the audacity method and while it does seem to work it makes my voice sound kinda weird and sometimes other sound cues disappear. Any help would be appreciated

Hello, In front sorry for any mishaps in my post, This is my first time posting something.(This is mainly becus of my dislexia) I have a USB headset (Plantronics Gamecom 780) But i wonderd if i could use a EQ program for windows 8.1 so i can do things like boost my base or my mids and high's and so on. Also it uses software to enable/disable the dolby 7.1 audio. I have read it at some forums it was possible but the only thing thay said was (yes its possible) and gave no info or links. Or is this not possible becus its digital audio and not analog. If something is not clear or there is not enough info please ask so i can fill it in. Thank you infront for any given info. Sincerely, Nickyvh

I'm buying a new headset and since I know almost nothing about such things I'm asking the community for opinions. I know that the Plantronics are a bit more expensive, but are they actually better and if so in what ways ? I'm mostly using them for gaming and music(bass doesn't concern me much). If you recommend other headphones let the maximum price be 50 bucks.
