So I have a weird problem with USB C on my phones, and it does not feel as straight forward as it should. Let me explain: So I was excited to switch off of Micro USB. Since USB C started making it to phones I have had a Moto G, A Nexus 5x, a Pixel 4a, and a Pixel 6, while my wife has rocked an LG, and a Samsung G10. Now I can be a bit of a Linus, hence why my current phone is newer then my wife's, but I have consistently run into a problem with my devices that my wife has not shared. At some-point all of my devices stop being able to connect properly to their charging cables, even ones my wife has no problems with. As a result I have gone through the trouble of 1 buying brand name cables (Ankers are my go to), 2 buying high wattage chargers, 3 aggressively cleaned my charging port, and 4 started using wireless charging to reduce the wear on my port. I often have to twist my cables a few time to connect (especially when I need a faster charge, or use Android auto), and even then the connection is unstable. However my wife who is on a 4 year old phone has had none of these problems with the same cables. I can be rougher on my phones, but if I am wearing out my phone port I would expect new cables to have trouble, but that isn't what I see, and if it was the cables wearing out then I would expect my wife to have the same issues, but she doesn't. I am not sure what to do, and am wondering if anyone here has seen similar issues and might have tips for how to address. Thanks

I have a Google Pixel 3 XL and I would like to know if it would be better to go with a Pixel 7 or 8 as an upgrade

Hi everyone, I am pretty new to the community and not sure if this is the right place to put this. My Pixel 6a started to randomly reboot and get stuck in a boot loop right after the android 14 update. After a couple of tries it would turn on, this repeated thrice and now it does not turn back on. To be clear I did not have a single issue with the phone before the android 14 update. After a lot of hassle their support team picked up the phone for diagnosis. They diagnosed that there is a issue with the motherboard. But I came across the november android security patch which specifically mentions this issue and aims at fixing it, have attached a link and screenshot to it below. https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/242705137/google-pixel-update-november-2023?kgs=f2ffcd4f59636a1e&shem=igass&source=sh/x/gs/m3/5 When I checked with the support team regarding this, they outright denied this and told that a software update cannot brick a phone. Even considering it was a hardware issue I was sold a lemon in the first place. They have given a repair estimate to replace the phone at full cost(360 usd approx.) and I am liable to pay the full price because my phone is a month passed its 1 year limited warranty. I am pretty clueless in what to do now, any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Google released an OS update that causes pixel phone users (6, 7, 8, and Fold) that are using multiple profiles (a built in feature) to suddenly lose all access to either their main profile, or their entire phone altogether. Contacting support will only have them walk you through how to factory reset your device, and very rarely are they even acknowledging that this is a known bug. I had this happen to me, and ended up having to factory reset. The bug is still active and reproducible on my Pixel Fold. Steps to reproduce (and walk back from the edge) WARNING: This bug behaves differently for different pixel models, this process worked for me to confirm the bug is still active without locking up my Pixel Fold. I do not guarantee that even on a pixel fold that this process will not cause data loss to your device, so proceed with caution. 1) Verify you're updated to the latest version of Android 14. Turn on multiple profiles. Make a second profile that is NOT the built in "Work" profile. If you don't switch to the second profile at all your phone will continue to behave normally. 2) Switch to the second profile. AFTER THIS STEP DO NOT REBOOT YOUR PHONE UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED STEP 4!!! As an added bonus make sure the wallpaper is a different color than your main profile's. 3) Switch back to your main profile and lock/unlock the device, open up things like your photos app that use storage. For me, my UI started going weird. I'd unlock my phone but all the lock screen text would remain. I'd hit the home button to return home but nothing would happen until I lock/unlocked my device. Also maybe 10% of my UI elements would match the colors of my secondary profile's wallpaper, not the primary profile that I was on. IF YOU REBOOT YOUR PHONE AT THIS STEP YOU WILL LIKELY LOSE ALL DATA ON THE DEVICE THAT IS NOT BACKED UP. 4) Delete the new secondary profile that you added and then turn off multiple profiles. The phone will continue to be weird until you reboot but it should come back up normal. There's an article about how Google has told a couple users in support chats that they're "working hard on the issue" but without Google publicly stating anything I'm taking that info with a grain of salt. There are also people saying that this was being reported by Pixel 6 owners before the wider rollout started and that Google ignored the bug reports and rolled it out anyway. Android 14 comes to pixel devices. Personally the advertised new feature list seems a bit, mild. I am still waiting for manual controls for their camera app https://www.theverge.com/2023/10/4/23900207/android-14-update-download-google-pixel

pixel 4a Trying to unlock USB-C video output on a Pixel 4a
Noulo posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
I am very inexperienced in android rooting and everything related, so I'm sorry if I look like I have no idea of what I'm writing about, but I'm trying to get started. I just found out Pixel phones have the USB-C video option disabled in software, which sucks. On the surface many articles I've read say that it is disabled on software, which makes it sound like just installing different software (like a custom ROM) could be a solution. I've also read some that say it's disabled on kernel level, which chatgpt tells me is extremely hard to modify and should be only done by a pro, but on some other forums (which I know I probably didn't really understand) it looks like installing different software, again, could be the solution to the kernel problem. Is it really posible to do this? has someone ever done this? I know the phone could still have it disable on hardware level, but Pixel phones have a way to use an special dock to output video, so it really seems like google just disabled the option but the posibility is there.-

Summary Jon Prosser leaked once again all the details of an upcoming smartphone release by Google in a video posted on Front Page Tech YouTube channel. This time it's about the upcoming Google Pixel Fold, which is of course Google's first foldable smartphone. 256GB $1799 512GB $1919 April 26th Pixel Fold Teaser May 10th Pre-Order (Google Store only) May 30th Pre-Order (Carriers) June 27th Available When pre-ordering a Fold Google will also send you a Pixel Watch Specs Quotes My thoughts The Google Pixel Fold "leaked" entirely. Who saw that coming? I want one, but it's simply too expensive. Usually I'd be the first one to pre-order this thing, but not at that price, even with the included Pixel Watch. Compared to this my Pixel 7 Pro looks cheap lol Also one thing is weird about this. Why does it apparently only record at 4K 30? The Pixel 7 Pro can do 4K 60. Sources

Hi all, I tried raising the issue on Twitter but seems like no one from Google cares about a random tweet so anyway.. Here is the issue, The screen just freezes/hangs We cannot open new apps or switch apps but in the background/running apps send notifications and work but the screen is unresponsive and stuck The way to reproduce the issue 1) Zoom or Any other app that allows picture-in-picture or display over apps as allowed now minimise Zoom or any other apps could be even Disney Hotstar etc your video/ call will be playing and running in the background 2) Now open any other app say 9gag, Google Photos, or Microsoft Teams say a video or gif is playing and boom the screen freezes when you try to maximise Zoom or Disney Hotstar etc You can still listen to the audio call or listen to the movie playing but the screen is hung/stuck Waiting for 10 minutes has no effect, the only solution seems to reboot the device after holding the power button for 30 seconds. This issue seems to be PIxel specific cause my old One Plus 6 does not have the same issue

So what's the better buy for new flagship? Oneplus and honor both good whit new snapdragon 8 gen 2, pixel slower, but cheaper than both of them(pixel 8, who knows) Not very interested in camera performance, nor gaming. Don't really need wireless charging, but fast charging is + Looking for good battery life and future support. Don't know the pricing on Honor yet, but it will be around 1100 euros in my region. Oneplus 11 currently is 950 euros Pixel 7 pro 850 Pixel 8/8 pro(who knows) Currently using mi 11 ultra, but whit every update that comes to it, I get less and less battery life, yeah it has fast wired and wireless charging, but it's annoying, currently(when writing this post) I'm on vecation and I can't even use phone for whole day, whitout needing to charge it one more time(doing full charge every morning). Doing 1080p, 60 Hz, battery saver on. My gf has S23 ultra, and she can easily do all day(maps, internet, social) whit even battery left when we are back at hotel(around 8-10 hrs), don't offer me s23 ultra, don't like samsung ui Tnx for help

So which one worth the buy? Don't really do much photography whit phone and no gaming. Best one for everyday use. Both are same price point in my country, around 850 euros for 128gb models. Currently using MI 11 ultra 256gb, loved the miui, but latest 14, is trash, promised a lot of changes, got nothing as usual Have had oneplus 8t in past, liked the oxygenOS back then, are there a lot of changes? Tnx for help

So here's a simple question: If you had to pick a color for each Pixel 6 model, which one would it be? What's your favorite color? Pixel 6 Pro Stormy Black Cloudy White Sorta Sunny Pixel 6 Stormy Black Sorta Seafoam Kinda Coral

So I'm looking into if I can set up key shortcuts (multi presses of outside buttons) on my pixel phone, up to and including a factory reset. Is this even possible and if so, is it possible with the phone locked? Thanks for your time.

Are there any good stock, pure and clean Android phones beside the Google Pixel?

Hi, I recently found this black/grey pixel on my asus tuf vg27vq and I don't really know what it is. Depending of viewing angle its either fully black, grey or perfectly fine and what color or content is displayed does not matter. Also I found out that it's "behind" display. As shown in the photos depending from viewing angle its either above the mouse, to the left or to the right. Mouse is in the same spot on desktop. I tried everything - tapping, pressure, stuck pixel sites and videos for hours and it only got a little bit better. What can I do about it? Is it a pixel or very unlucky case of dust under display?

Hey, So I've been eyeing the Pixel 6 Pro for a while now, and I've just worked up enough money to buy one. The main selling point for me, outside of the fantastic camera and screen, is the AI assistant. I'm curious about where the tech is going and Google seem to be way ahead in this area (presumably due to the tensor chip and, you know, google being google). The thing is, just as I'm gearing up to actually buy the phone, I'm seeing that they might release the new Pixel 7 in October. Do you think the AI part of this phone will be substantially different from the current gen phones? Or is this just unknown? I can't make up my mind on if I should suffer with my 10 year old device for another few months or take the plunge and just go for the 6 Pro.

I was (foolishly) using Google's fabric case and while doing doordash I dropped my Pixel 5 cracking the screen. About 5 months later I finally decided to get it fixed and went to Asurion since that's who Google reccomended (iFixIt kits didn't came out a month later ), after getting the phone back it would restart 1-2 times a week randomly, then after a few weeks it restarted and came back up as corrupted and wouldn't turn back on. I took the phone back to Asurion and they (for whatever reason) replaced the screen again (and didn't provide a new screen protector after getting rid of the one I had just bought) and then told me they couldn't do anything because it was corrupted, their only advice was to call google - who told me to have Asurion look at it in the first place. Is it possible that Asurion damaged the motherboard or storage during the repair? Or is the corruption a separate issue? I didn't try to root or install anything on to the phone, as I like the default OS and have no reason to. If I end up having to pay to fix the phone again, I'll probably just put that money towards a new phone instead. I was looking at the S22+/Ultra, Pixel 6/Pro, or waiting until the Pixel 7 comes out in October. I like the Pixel phones as I use a lot of Google products for home and work, but I have heard there's a lot of issues with the 6. I enjoy having a nice phone since I use it everyday, but I also mostly use it for spotify, snapchat, text/call, and occasionally youtube/tiktok, which seems like is wasting a rather expensive phone. Do you feel these higher end phones are worth it? Do you feel the S22 or Pixel 6 is better? Is it worth waiting for the Pixel 7? Is there a phone you think would be better? Apologies this was a long/ranty post, dealing with Asurion & debating on what to do for a new phone has been stressful lol

Hi. We've tried using iPhone 13 for IRL streaming via 4G, 1080p 60 FPS, SRT protocol, h.265 codec. It works well for 30-50 minutes, then there is overheating warning, ping growth to 1500+ ms, and stream starts lagging extremely - everything is grey. It's currently +30°C - +35°C outside. Now we're looking into buying some Android phone with good cooling, Asus ROG Phone 5 or something similar, but It seems like it's only possible to stream in 60 fps with Google Pixel. I've done some testing with Google Pixel 4a, same settings as iPhone. It worked for 5-8 minutes via 4G, then overheated and disabled mobile network. Streaming via Wi-Fi worked for 30 minutes (still with overheating warning, and mobile networks got disabled). Any thoughts, what phone should we get for streaming? Perhaps anyone here has Pixel 6 / Pixel 6 PRO, and could do some testing to check if it would overheat?

I bought a PIxel7Pro and was going to get the Grip Case from dBrand for it. On my work phone (iPhone 14) I use their case and screen protector and have used a dBrand screen protector on my old Pixel 3XL and it was fantastic. However, dBrand no longer makes screen protectors for phones other than iPhones. I have in the past had issues with cases not interfacing well with screen protectors and am wondering what you all think is the best screen protector and case combo. Any help would be much appreciated. VR Ben

Like the title says it just pops out if you press down on the bottom edge of the bar, which I discovered by just sliding my finger down the bar to lower the volume like normal. I feel like for 900 dollars it should at least stay together. Luckily it goes back in.

Hi guys, I need some help diagnosing this issue. I bought a Samsung 32" c32jg50 monitor almost a year ago and a few days ago I noticed what appeared to be some dead pixels on the right top corner of the display. When I tried to count how many pixels were affected by looking at the them under the magnifier (to know if I could use the monitor's warranty) I noticed that none of the pixels were actually dead pixels as you can see in the attached images. I don't know what I actually have here since no pixels are dead or stuck but some subpixels seem to be less bright than some others(?). I don't really know if this issue has a name and whether this is going to be covered by the warranty. What do you think? Do you think Samsung is going to cover this issue by changing the monitor's display or won't they? Do you know what the name of this issue is or if this can be solved by some other method that is not changing the display? Thank you all in advance

Found pixel 3 xl without sim and no emergency contacts. What to do with it and how to reset it (it is still locked from the previous owner). If I can somehow get it to its previous owner the would be preferred. Thank you

So first I just realized I had a dead pixel in my laptop (Sagee NP9176), I tried many things from Youtube that didn',t work out. I entered at Control Center from Clevo and I wanted to try a different power profile to try to fix the pixel. The laptop restarted automatically "in a normal way" and now the screen doesn't show anything and it resets automatically every now and then. I REALLY NEED HELP with this. My thesis is inside that machine (I have an online backup luckly but that laptop is very important to me for other stuff). If it doesn't have a normal reppair, how could i hard reset the laptop? (Even if that uninstall the OS)
