So for the last few years I have been pirating games left, right and centre because I couldn't afford them. Well I still cant, but I am so sick to death of the viruses and random crap that comes with these games that I have decided to start again. And when I mean start again I mean, Everything, I want to wipe everything bit of data off my drives and start again. not too fussed about losing media, as I have lost most of it over the recent years to a virus or two anyway (or its in the cloud) I've decided I'll just buy real cheap older games from like, Kinguin and G2A etc. Better old a stable than new and buggy as fuck. (also the karma of not stealing any-more). So I was just wondering what would be the best way to go about this? bare in mind I have a dog shit internet connection so re-downloading will take for ever, but in know some bits will just have to be done. cheers. p.s, even got myself a legit copy of Windows #GOme

Hello Fellow LTT Members, I recently acquired Elite: Dangerous as a gift from a friend. I wanted to know of any good sources for getting started. I am doing some research and have found a webisode from this youtuber AdoredTV:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHXbDmbswY3xNOmzr5O3zgA I noticed Star Citizen had it's own page and thought to myself, "wow, I am hyped for SC as well, but did everyone just overlook this game entirely?". If you play and aren't too far in the game and want to meet up in space some day feel free to message here or PM me or anyone else who follows. Just be careful not to give out any personal information that can lead to any misfortune. Cheers B)

Hi guys, I'll admit it, I pirated Windows 7 for my very first build back in 2011 (C'mon guys, who hasn't?). The guilt was killing me, so I bought a retail copy of Windows and my spirit has been put to ease since. However while I was using my pirated copy, I didn't really notice any huge problems. I guess my question is, how are pirates getting away with this? What do they do that makes it so good that they can pass as genuine copies? This has irked me for the longest time. I have some friends that have never bought any OS and have always downloaded an illegal version. I'd love to hear you guys' opinions in this.

IsoHunt released the source code for Pirate Bay along with a backup of the data base of the best torrents from The Pirate Bay, Kick Ass Torrents and ISOHunt! I guess this shows that piracy is something that can't be stopped. Even with the take down of The Pirate Bay. This raises a question for me why would you run your own torrent site and run the risk of getting caught and facing major prison time? Torrenting is something that can't be easily delt with I mean it was services like Humble Bundle and Steam that reformed me by allowing me cheap content and much greater ease of use. Recently the Pirate Bay's main servers were raided and shut down, reported on LinusTechTips at this article on the 10th of December 2014: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/267276-pirate-bay-raided-and-is-now-offline/ Fast forward two days to the 12th of December 2014, The Pirate Bay as people know it is back. But not from the original founders... Nope, this Pirate Bay is not a Proxy. ISOHunt, another Torrent sharing website that was recently shut down (Or Blocked, stupid ISPs) has created a website called "OldPirateBay" which lists all of the Pirate Bays Archives. What is weird about this, is ISOHunt could be seen as a direct competitor to the Pirate Bay, so why would they help? As I mentioned, this is not just a proxy or old back-up of TPB, but has some useful features to some... such as A functional search engine Magnet and Mirror links All the old TPB content (does that include the ads?) Plus there is new content being added all the time In a statement, the people over at ISOHunt said this about why they have created the "new" site: My thoughts. It took all of 2 days to have a fully functioning backup of TPB operational, with some improvements. Shows piracy is not gong anywhere any time fast. Do I condone piracy? No, but its good to see people who care about something take it so passionately to keep it alive, so to speak. One thing I do have to say though, I love the "new logo and colour scheme, to me, it looks like a metallic blue" What are your thoughts? Please leave them down below. Original article from Gizmodo: http://gizmodo.com/another-torrent-site-has-resurrected-the-pirate-bay-1670450805?utm_campaign=socialflow_gizmodo_twitter&utm_source=gizmodo_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow Edit: Thanks to @OnekillWalter for remindning me, I should have put the Obligatory TPB Theme song:

Source: Yahoo - https://www.yahoo.com/movies/s/pirate-bay-shutdown-had-virtually-no-effect-digital-191141913.html The Pirate Bay, the most well-known and notorious torrent site, was shut down. However, numbers indicate that there was no real difference before and after it was raided by Swedish authorities. Apparently it will take far more than just taking The Pirate Bay offline to stop pirates.

On the WAN show I found out about the Froot VPN service which is currently 100% free and doesn't require you to enter ANY personal information. I at first also felt like it being a bit of a sketchy service since they are a completely new service with very little known information about them , but I still decided to try it out. There is no way for me to know if their claim of not keeping ANY data and not handing any over to 3rd parties is true, but I do feel like I can take their word for it. I wouldn't be surprised if these claims turn out to be false, but to be on the safe side I didn't enter any very important passwords. I also like the idea of the end to end encryption which lets me bypass our router's firewall (might also not be good since malicious websites would too). Now to the service. The first thing I noticed was that there isn't a program to install, but rather a small add on that you have to create yourself which feels a bit ghetto in the network settings, but the more I use the service instead of having an app I only see the benefits. I use win 8.1 and when I click on my network connections at the bottom right of my screen a sidebar opens and I'm able to quickly enable and disable the service. I also don't see the point in having an app that slows down the boot and runs in the background since the service really is that basic there is nothing you can customize. ON/OFF is your choice, only one server in Sweden, but you always get a different IP- Address for each time you connect. I personally like the way they implemented the service compared to installing an app that causes various other issues with your PC and adding more steps to troubleshooting. I guess what I don't like about it is that you can only pick one server. And I guess it would've been nice to see some recommendations by trusted companies to reassure the consumer. Finally before I forget...SPEED here is my speedtest result with the VPN on and with the VPN off. One bug I found that sometimes some websites like Speedtest won't load possibly to the VPN service not sharing the IP.

So I was watching the archive and was thinking, I have a TV subscription that I pay monthly which enables me to watch movies and series as well as record them so I can watch them later or re-watch them. Most of the movies and series are not evenprovided in 1080p, so I prefer downloading higher quality ones from... sources.... I find it to be more convenient as well. So my question is, is it still wrong? In my opinion I see nothing wrong with it, however I would like to hear other peoples views on this.

A game within a game. Game Dev Tycoon allows you to develop games and engines while trying to develop your small company to be the next EA. But for an apparent 97% of the people who played the game they could not get far because they were plagued by piracy and people pirating there big ticket games. As people took to the forums wanting help with what to do the game devs let people know that the cracked copy of the game was changed to allow for your game to be pirated and thus your company would fail. The developers released the cracked copy at the time of the legal download so that people could understand what piracy does to businesses and even more so to small businesses and I think they proved a point. This is quite the eye opener to allow for people to see the direct result of there actions and how it is not such a small deal. Some people have the mentality of they seem to think they are the only ones doing it so the $7 the game costs won't be missed. But as we see from this game of the over 3k downloads only 3% of the people actually bought it. For a small developer this just sets you on a road to failure. While there are some people who do not pay for games and only pirate, others sometimes can not afford it because of lack of income or want a demo before they throw their money at a game they have no idea about. Piracy within the gaming community and the movie/music industry are quite different. As movies can make money not just from theatre release, but from dvd sales and tv slots. Gaming companies usually get the majority of there money from initial release or when the game goes on sale later on resulting in lower profit. Hopefully for the people that pirate games you understand a little bit better that the effect it has is bigger than you think. Sources: Eurogamer "It says blah blah our game got pirated stuff like that. Is there some way to avoid that? I mean can I research a DRM or something?"

What Do You Think Of Game Dev tycoon? (and the expansion)
aidanthepcnerd posted a topic in PC Gaming
So I recently purchased this 'pirate troll' game dev tycoon and I must say I Am sucked into its vortex this game is soooooo addicting and I'd rather play this $10 game than a $60 drm sim city. Greenheart Games (The Dev) Has announced an Expansion that allows you to: Rip of indie Devs, Use DRM, Develop App stores and Even deal with with press enquiries, I am very excited for the expansion as it takes a step closer to the game being 'big'. I was wondering what your opinions are on the game and the new expansion are? Thanks, A. -
We know Maxwell is coming and prices for the GTX 980 and 970 have already been leaked but AMD is not standing still either. New leaks indicate that AMD's brand new liquid cooling design from Asetek which debuted on the R9 295X2 is evidently coming with a new single-GPU card. Allegedly the R9 390X. Now if you guys remember a few months back I broke the news on LTT about AMD's two next generation GPUs. One measuring ~350mm² and the other measuring ~500mm². Now we can confirm that the first has been launched and it's the Tonga GPU powering the R9 285 and the upcoming R9 285X. The second GPU measuring in at ~500mm² makes it a massive chip and certainly the largest AMD has ever made. Liquid cooling would certainly be a requirement at this point to cool such a large GPU at reasonable acoustics and temperatures. Source

NOTE: No site has reported on this until now, so this is essentially breaking news. I expect WCCFTech to pick it up very soon. UPDATE: VideoCardz & WCCFTech picked the news story up but I'm happy to announce that we've beaten them to the punch! This leak is very interesting, the source is not AMD or any of its board partners, it's actually not really a leak either. Synapse Design is a company that offers services such as software and development SDKs to help companies like AMD design floor plans for chips. These floor plans are then used to start manufacturing the chips at third party fabs such as TSMC & Globalfoundries. When a floor plan is finalized that's labeled as a "tape out" in semiconductors. Well Synapse Design just recently released a list of the chips which have been taped out in the last 12 months by a number of their partners. At the top of the list are two VERY interesting chips, both of which are large GPUs. Synapse Design only has one client which makes GPUs this large & that's AMD. http://www.synapse-da.com/Corporate/Clients To put this into perspective the Hawaii GPU powering the R9 290X is 438mm² large & the GK110 GPU powering the 780 Ti is 551mm² large. According to Synapse Design they have taped out a 500mm²+ GPU & a 350mm²+ GPU. AMD's largest GPU ever was Hawaii so AMD has never designed a GPU this large before so I'm very interested to see the implications of this. These two new GPUs might very well end up being AMD's upcoming successors to the 290X and 280X, presumably the 390X and 380X. 28HPM is a TSMC node so these are not the GPUs which AMD reportedly intends to build at Globalfoundries. The alleged time frame for these chips' release is the second half of 2014 up to the first quarter of 2015 (July 2014 to March 2015)..

For first scenario : Let's say you have 2 friends, both really like to download the pirate version for whatever software they like but the one of them have capability to buy the software and the other is not. what would you do to them? if they is very strict with his opinion to always use the pirate version. how will you treat him ? Second Scenario : You have a friend that have capability to buy the game anytime. but he is a bit skeptical about new game so he want to try the pirate version first, if he likes it he will buy. even there is possibility to refund the game. what will you say to him ? what if he is strict and what if he is not strict about his opinion ?

I, by no means agree with piracy, but i still do it. I also buy music and movies on amazon, but i pirate a lot more unfortunately. Ive come to realize sometimes im pirating things that I wont even watch or listen to, I just have come to think, "Hey i can get anything on the internet for free, so i might aswell get whatever I want" Im curious to know if anyone is in a similar situation and if you all dont approve of piracy or dont care at all. My father would never pirate a single thing, but he knows I do and even streams off my server, content he knows is pirated. Would you watch content someone pirated because your not comitting the crime of piracy? please let me know.
