Robert W. Taylor, Who Helped Create the Internet, Dies at 85 This is my first news post and I hope it classifies as such, if not feel free to move it. This pioneer (amongst others) for what we now are using everyday and the younger generations take for granted, is now dead which I don't personally think is sad as it's part of life, but let's hope that he will never be forgotten for being the man that had enough of using 3 machines for 3 different projects just because there was no network and fixed the problem. Just need some help if anyone has had some experience with these receivers. I just bought a pair of Klipsch R-15m speakers and want to use a receiver to drive them in a 2.1 (possibly 2 or 3 subs). Also need a sub out to which I have a wonky setup for my sub(s). Currently the Pioneer VSX-531 goes for 299 CAD and the Yamaha RX-V379 for 329 CAD. My dad has a Pioneer VSX-921 that drives a 7.1 setup and does well so I trust the VSX series. Do you think the VSX-531K would be plenty for my speakers? R-15m Specs FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 62Hz - 24kHz +/- 3dB LOW FREQUENCY EXTENSION: 54Hz SENSITIVITY: 94dB @ 2.83V / 1m POWER HANDLING: 85W Continuous/340W Peak NOMINAL IMPEDANCE: 8 Ohms Compatible

I have a pioneer LX301 and I'm having trouble getting the full throughput on my devices. My Nvidia shield and HTPC with a GTX 1050ti should theoretically be able to output full RGB 4k at 60hz and my Sony 940d should be able to play it. I'm not sure what I need to change. Currently everything is running at 30hz. The option is available to select 60hz but when I do the screen goes blank. I've tried different (high speed w/Ethernet from monoprice) HDMI cable. I'm stumped please help!

So I went out and got myself a 4k TV. Granted the TV itself can stream Netflix, and i've got a Display port active adapter for my PC I've pretty much got the hole system worked out. My problem is however, that my internet, here in my dormitory, isn't always fantastic, making streaming 4k anything is rare. So naturally I want to get some 4k Content that doesn't have to be streamed. IE Ultra HD Blu Rays. My research shows that 4k blu ray players run like 200$ or more. And a xbox 1 S conflicts with my console gaming alignment. The Pioneer UHD Blu Ray Player only runs for 130$ on Newegg or Amazon. The problem is the amount of stuff you need to make the Blu Ray Player play 4k Blu Rays is ridiculous. special motherboard features, and a 7th Generation Processor. Somewhere on the internet I saw someone mention that they Rip all their 4k Blu Rays for safety using open source software like MakeMKV, My question is, if i bought the drive, could i rip the disks and watch the 4K movies on my HTPC (i5 6500) Using VLC media player. Has anyone else done this, If not i think this would be a Fantastic Video, Given that 4k TVs are becoming very popular, but 4k content is still very hard to come by and this loophole would open up a lot of content to a lot of people. So if someone smarter then me could tag Linus or whatever crew member would be best to bring this to i would greatly appreciate it. So I'm not expecting this post to get much if any traction but I thought it was worth asking. Do any of you know how to, or a place where I can learn how to jailbreak my new car stereo? I installed a new deck in my car so I can have fancy touchscreen/handsfree tech in my 9-year-old Pontiac Grand Prix (still worth it though) and learned from my brother that he has a friend who has jailbroken one before so that he was able to mirror his phone screen on the stereo. I mean like a full mirroring where you can go in and out of apps and all the fancy shit your normal phone already does. This is horribly unnecessary but also extremely tempting to do. The stereo is a Pioneer AVH-X2800BS. I don't know if the specific stereo matters or if all of the AVH codenames can be jailbroken the same way. So how do I do it? I haven't been able to get into contact with my brother's friend and see if I can get any info from him. I tried googling it but that yielded no useful results and venturing past the 2nd page of Google are pastures I'd rather not wander in. All I'm really asking for here is at most a forum or some kind of website dedicated to jailbreaking anything and everything so I at least have somewhere to begin to search for myself. Thanks, guys!

I am looking for a pair of speakers for my setup at Uni. I want a pair that sound quality but don't distort at loud volumes (obviously for uni parties). I have seen some Mission 732's and also some Tannoy Mercury MK2's locally both at around £60.Both have a fairly decent sensitivity, would these be good options? (also some Pioneer S-X430's but I don't think they're in the same league as the other two)

I feel pretty dumb. I got my build all together and popped in the UHD Bluray I just bought and got the error that I can't continue. So I have an I7 9700k, Pioneer UHD Drive, GTX 1060GB and an MSI MEG ACE Z390 motherboard. Seems like my only problem is that I don't have ANY display connector on my $280 motherboard. From what I can see I can't output from my 1060 because it doesn't have HDCP 2.2. I have SGX enabled of course. The error in the Powerlink says GPU not supported. SO here's the 3 options I've come down to and would just love some educated advice on which one is best. 1. Exchange the Pioneer UHD drive for the LG WH16NS60 - which "Supposedly" can play UHD discs properly using DVDFAB 5. (This is my favorite option if I can output 4k/HDR from my 1060 and not have to disassemble my motherboard) 2. Exchange the Motherboard for one that has HDMI 2.0, But I cannot find a regular sized z390 ATX with HDMI 2.0. I'm not completely against going to a z370, but I do really like the Wireless AC and Bluetooth built in. 3. Hardcore chance, Wait until a GPU is released from AMD or NVIDIA that has HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. Oh and yes it's important that it's an internal drive solution for a full PC and not ITX. Thanks for your time reading this.

Asus, Denon & Marantz, Philips and Pioneer engaged in so called "fixed or minimum resale price maintenance (RPM)" by restricting the ability of their online retailers to set their own retail prices for widely used consumer electronics products such as kitchen appliances, notebooks and hi-fi products. http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-18-4601_en.htm

I just got an LG 55B7A OLED tv, its great. I also had to get a new receiver as my old one didn't support HDCP2.2, 4K60, HDR, etc. So, I got a Pioneer Elite VSX-LX102 7.2 channel receiver that supports all the HDR standards, 4K60hz, HDCP2.2 on all inputs and so on. I have a Windows 10 PC (with a GTX1080, so HDR capable), Chromecast Ultra (4k60, HDR capable), and a regular Bluray player (not 4k, no HDR) connected to the receiver with brand new HDMI 2.0 cables and then a single HDMI 2.0 to the TV from the HDMI out of the receiver. I immediately learned how much I hate smart tv's as WebOS was clearly not designed with an AV receiver handling all the inputs in mind. I'm not able to get any content to play with HDR. It just plays at SDR. The damn TV has so many convoluted, overlapping, redundant settings, some of which seemingly supersede others when you don't expect it. However, the one setting in the TV that seems to be critical to HDR support is HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color. When I turn this on, the receiver stops sending any video to the tv. I've tried rebooting the chromecast, my PC, nothing works with HDR enabled on the TV. Disable it and the video comes right back. Just for giggles I connected my PC straight to the TV and HDR was recognized by Windows and the TV even flashed a notification saying HDR was active. Back to the receiver, and Windows won't even let me toggle HDR anymore. I'm not sure if my issue is with the TV or the receiver. The receiver should just be a passive HDMI switch basically (I have upscaling turned off on the receiver). The TV has so many damn settings that can alter the way inputs work though. I have the HDMI input from the receiver set to "PC" on the TV input settings menu. This disables almost all the excessive post-processing the TV usually does. HDMI-CEC is enabled on both the TV and receiver. Should I change the input type in the TV input menu to surround sound? Should I just return the Pioneer AVR? I feel like I'll just run into the same problem with any other brand of AVR. I don't want to have to plug everything in to the HDMI ports on the TV and then rely on ARC for audio as I've never had a good experience with that. I tried it with my PC and while it worked with the Pioneer AVR for a few minutes, the TV kept turning its own internal speakers back on even though I had them off with Audio set to HDMI ARC on the TV. This tv is beautiful, but the "smarts" of WebOS aren't implemented very well. I mean, does LG really not anticipate someone with a nearly $2K TV will use an AVR for handling their AV inputs??? Any input from other LG OLED owners on how to get HDR/HDMI Deep Color working is greatly appreciated.

Hi, So I built an HTPC and I'm noticing audio dropouts. I'm using a trial version of WinDVD Pro and I'm noticing the audio continuously dropping out. Initially I thought it was due to the DTS HD audio codec, but then I'm experiencing the problem when I run dolby digital videos. I set the amp to pass the audio to my TV and noticed that its dropping there as well. Funny thing is I'm experiencing a dropout at the same time of the menu of Lilo and Stitch. Please help me solve this issue. I've checked the manual and I did the steps that they said and it hasn't helped out. I really want to get this issue solved and so far am leaning towards the trial software being the culprit as I don't experience any audio dropout with other content (e.g gaming, youtube) Thanks, 4321Rocket

Hey, I'm looking for a headset for gaming and music and I heard that Pioneer SE-M521 are quite good for the price ~35€. Are these headphones good for gaming too or should I look for something else, I have also heard good stuff about Superlux but it takes more 2 weeks to get those in my country. What do you recommend around ~50€ price range?

I currently have a old aftermarket Kenwood. currently i just want to replace the headunit then in a few months ill add a sub with intergrated amp. Hello and welcome to my review of the Pioneer SE-CL721 in-ear headphones. Quite a while ago I bought a pair of these headphones for daily use; bicycle, sports, ect.. and I thought by myself; why not make a review? So here u have it folks. (excuse my English) Packaging and first impressions The in-ears come in 3 different color combinations; red-white, red-black and red-green. (I own the black one) Having the package in my hands it was looking very tight. I was hoping the wires were okay inside there. After quite some time of picking and using the jig saw I managed to open the (damn) package. The package comes with 4 different rubber sizes for your ears, and a manual. Display Knowing myself, I'm not really a huge audio freak like some of u out there, but the sound that comes out of these things is quite impressive for their price. (Of course you will need a good audio output as well.) There is a clear balance between high and low and manages to give u a full listening experience. It manages to work absolutely fine with drum and bass all the way to classical music. (Rock in my case) Turning the volume up a bit makes the listening experience even better, making the balance even stronger between high and low. Shape Fits great in the ear, no annoyances so far. Of course you can improve it by adjusting the rubber size as well if needed. A little downside tho, is the weight of these ears. This is very personal, as I have different ears than other people. I notice it when jogging or moving your head around, this makes them slip a little out of my ears. You can definitely feel them when you are wearing them. Having this issue I swapped the rubber tips with my old Sennheiser CX 250, which really improved the listening experience for me. The top end of the ears are quite small, which allows u to put on any type of rubber tip on it. The length from bifurcation to in-ear is quite long by itself, and can be adjusted by a slider. Normally left and right side are equal with wire length. Having a closer look at it I can tell that these in-ears are very well-made and strong. The rubber wiring is quite thick and doesn't tangle very easily, which is quite handy when storing it somewhere. (Sorry for the crappy self-made photo) experience This headphone that I own is nearly 3 years old, and I can report that it is still working fantastic. It went trough rain, water and fell down once or twice. (It even went for a ride in the washer) Usually you will have to put these headphones on for almost 2 days to play them in good shape. It didn't take too long with these headphones to "change" their sound, it was pretty much plug and play. Conclusion Excellent headphones for their price, I totally recommend this one for people with a specific budget. Used with Realtek HD Audio Sandisk Sansa Clip+ 4GB Zwart Asrock 870 Extreme3 Sony Xperia U Zwart Pro's and con's + Balance high and low + Build quality + Shape + Price - Weight (personal) - Color combination (personal) - Not many accessories Scoreboard Overall: 5/5 Easy of use: 3/5 Audio quality: 5/5 Build quality: 4/5 Price: 5/5

Ok guys This is my review of the SE-A1000 By pioneer. Hopefully my grammar does not make you hurt yourself. this is my first review on this forum. any formatting tips are welcomed (but beware im lazy ) I am no audiophile but i do appreciate good sound and dislike beats so take that for what it is worth. Sound Quality: So this is the most important part about headphones. if they sound like crap why bother with them right? These are an open headphones so there is no isolation. Overall highs are very satisfying, i do not listen to classical music by choice but tried some Mozart and quite enjoyed it. Also listened to the persona 4 OST which includes some piano violen and other instruments along with some Opera-like singing at some points. As far as mids go they were not mind blowing by any means but were definitely there unlike alot of "gaming" and mainstream non-audiophile headphones go. I also played a few games like Battlefield 4 and such with explosions everywhere. as a result the lows were good, nothing like the Beyerdynamic DT990's but they were still really good. Overall sound quality Score: 9/10 Conclusion: Sound overall is excellent. only thing missing was the head rocking bass that would make gaming a tad bit better. although I may be nit picking here though. Do not think they are sub-par by any means. Comfort: In terms of the headband its similar to the style of the Steelseries Siberia V2's. it is a suspension band that evenly distributes the weight over your entire head regardless of your head shape. The headband is leather on the top and a cloth material come in contact with your head. Usually you see some sort of pleather or leather material here but these Pioneer's do not. The earcups are pretty a standard circumural (did not spell that properly) size with nice interior foam covered by cloth. Overall this is the most Comfortable pair of headphones i have put on. it doesnt feel like you have anything on your head at all. I keep forgetting i have these headphones on after a long computer session. I cannot stress how much better this system is for headphones. "solid" headphones like my Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro's are much heavier and feel alot more stiffer ( although still a comfotable pair) than these. The only thing is that the headband is a tad too loose but i just tilt the headphones back a tad to make up for this Overall Comfort Score: 9/10 The headband being a tad loose is definitly a con but one that can be modded here by the post of warrenpchi http://www.head-fi.org/t/670454/pioneer-se-a1000-appreciation-club-sennheiser-hd-650-for-45 Looks: not going to say much here to be honest, as its all about preference. It shouldnt really matter really matter unless you like looking at yourself. Here is a picture so you can judge for yourselves Price: it obviously depends what country you buy it from, what site and so on. i bought mine from amazon (Canadian) for $100. On the American site they go for $59. that being said for the price these are AMAZING. yes caps were completely necessary. in all seriousness i would have no issue putting these up against headphones at the $150-$200 range. they would be extremely competitive there. this is also the reason i gave such high scores in the sound quality area. they honestly sound like $200 headphones to me. and just so everyone knows they had a $200 MSRP when they first came out its just no one really knew about them so they lowered the price Overall Price score: 11/10 would buy again The bang for your buck on these headphones (especially in the US) is just too insane. Conclusion: I am going to keep this short. BUY THEM! if you want a cheap gaming headphones these will run circles around any typical gaming headset out there by far. I used to have logitech g930's back in the day (a couple of years back) and these are just so far ahead it blows my mind. if you want headphones that are realitivley low-cost and like music these are definitely for you if you have any questions please feel free to ask and i will answer them to the best of my ability. If you read most of this review you definitely deserve a cookie because this must have been really difficult to read.

Hi every one! Sorry for that simple question but this is the first time that i will build a rig with WC. Could someone that owns the case or the WC tell me how can i know if they are compatible

So, i found these headphones on sale, and i currently have the money to buy them, so my questions are: - Are they good for that price (in dollars it would be around 33$~) - Will they be good enough (atleast better than my Canyon earbuds) in louder environments like busses, loud streets...? I'll be buying a new phone very soon (i hope i'll have it before this month ends, because the carrier currently doesn't have it in stock), so i though about buying new headphones for it http://www.emmi.rs/slušalice-hifi-slušalice-pioneer-se-mj512-w.11.html?productId=40560 If anybody needs me to translate something, i'll gladly do it P.S. It seems i can't link anything, so i'll just post the URL of the site

So I got some money from the holidays and my birthday and I was going to buy the Logitech Z906 with that money. But after doing some research I'm having some doubts and I can't decide on what to buy. Option nr1: Logitech Z906 Option nr2: Pioneer DJ DM-50D-BT (or better value speakers if anyone can recommend some) I would love to have a 5.1 surround setup in my room for gaming, watching movies or listening to music. But I have a pretty small room so I'll never be able to turn it past 30% or I'll be deaf. On the other hand I would like the Pioneer speakers since I like DJing in my spare time but then I won't have the 5.1 surround anymore. I really can't decide, is there anyone able to help me out here? Thanks in advance
