Hello guys, I need some help to make a decision! I want to buy an internal sound card for my rig, the problem is that I can't decide between those three: 1) Asus Xonar Phoebus | Link to Amazon 2) Asus Xonar Essence STX | Link to NewEgg 3) Creative Sound Blaster ZxR | Link to NewEgg My second Question is: If I choose the Creative Sound Blaster ZxR which is 5.1, my headphones are 7.1! Would my headphones still be 7.1? Sorry for my bad english, thanks in advance!

Got an annoying problem with my Asus Phoebus soundcard, it randomly began only using the right channel of my headphones yesterday. I tested my headphones with a few other devices and it worked fine, I've re-installed the driver and it didn't work, re-intalling windows and the driver didn't work, re-seating the card in the PCIe slot also didn't work I could of course just resort to my onboard audio, but I need to figure out if the card is faulty or not so I can send it back ASAP.

I have a question regarding audio cards. I currently have a ASUS ROG Xonar Phoebus 7.1 sound card and I am using a Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset. They both work great, but the sound card picks up a lot of electrical noise from other components. One example that I can mention; While in the CS GO menu I bring up the console and change max fps from 150 to 0(no cap) and I will instantly start to hear squeelz and buzzing in the headset.(not noticeable while playing so I havent cared too much). Also while playing some other games the sound can sometimes start to distort and "jitter" as if the sound files are corrupted and sometimes cause crackle noises while playing sounds in game. I dont know if this is a sound card problem or game problem. It happens alot while playing Kerbal Space Program and Planet Coaster. Is this the sound card failing? I have all the newest drivers. Question I have is, will my onboard sound from the motherboard be just as good(or better) or should I keep the sound card and just "overlook" these noises and bugs from it? Motherboard is a MSI Z97 Gaming 5.

So I purchased an ROG Phoebus Soundcard in 2012. It was problematic from the "get go" with poor mic reception from the built in mic and also using any mic plugged into the combined volume control/mic (pretty well documented - I solved this by using a seperate mic and disabling the built in mic). Not ideal. August 2015 rolls along and after having done a clean install of Windows 10 64bit I discovered that there were no drivers for the Soundcard and none of the ealier versions would install under any circumstances (yes i tried the troubleshooting installation process, it didn't work). I live in the United Kingdom, your specific warranty process may differ from region to region, and attempted to return the product as it is covered by a 3 year warranty by Asus. Sadly in the UK Asus warranty means that you have to contact the original seller of the product. Asus have NO customer facing warranty department(s) meaning that you cannot contact them via the usual channels - email, website portal, telephone - NOTHING AT ALL. Sadly it turns out my retailer had gone out of business..... In a last ditch effort to get some resolution I decided to contact Asus "Tech Support" - a bit further down the page is the response i recieved! I've recently taken linus' advice and gone ahead and bought a soundcard (ROG Xonar Phoebus). While i can say its made a huge improvement to my audio consumption. I soon discovered quite a big problem that im still yet to find a fix for. The pitch of what ever im listening to weather it be music on spotify or a youtube video playing in another tab will change when i open up other applications, or even just browse other in tabs on my computer, sometimes quite dramatically. I've checked and made sure to disable all of various asus DTS doo dads and the dolby home theater EQ wizardry, Would you believe me if i told you i had a degree in audio engineering? None of these make a difference. And make no mistake this isn't a change in different frequencies becoming more proponent, this is full on key changes, this shite could make MJ sound like Tom Jones. My main point of concern is the fact asus AI suit keeps telling me my CPU voltage is low, it should be 3.3 and its running around 2.9 it likes to warn me. I've given this a Google and it seem that AI suit is not to be trusted however when I boot onto my motherboard bios it also shows my voltage as running low to my CPU. Some information on my build is as follows: . of course we have the Xonar Phoebus its self . Intel i7 3770k . asus sabertooth x77 . x2 GTX 660ti running in sli . 8gb ramm . A peice of shit 1tb hd . and a little 60gb OCZ agility for my boot which is Windows 8... yes i know. . Most importantly my PSU is a Corsair AX 850 Is this a hardware issue i am faceing? Is my PSU powerful enough? Or is this all down to the fact im plugging all my electronics into one extention lead? Thanks in advance for anyhelp you can offer. x x x x

Hey guys It seems that Asus published a complete new interface for the Phoebus without telling anyone.... After removing the old (terrible) software for Phoebus i installed the new Driver and i was complete surprised by the new interface. It looks like Asus finally throw the old ROG Xonar Phoebus Software away and started from scratch again. The new Software Center is now called Sonic Studio Pro and it looks simply awesome. On the left side you have the main Settings with Volume Control and Recording Control and the Audio formats. Below that there are Profiles to select but unfortunately at the moment these Settings are disabled. On the right side there are the Sonic Studio Pro audio Effects.It is basically the same as Home Theater and you can only use these if you disable Dolby Home Theater. If you enable Sonic Studio you can basic play around with some Equalizer Settings and do some tuning. I still prefer Dolby Home Theater but it´s definitely much better then the Xear Option in the Previous Driver. On the top you can select you Audio input and Output. Finally it looks like Asus gave the Phoebus the software it deserves. The software looks nice AND it performs really good with no bugs encountered yet. I´m simply happy that after sticking with the Pheobus for over 3 years now (the first year was hell...), the Phoebus is finally at the point where i can recommend it....

Hi forum! Ok I need some help finding the sound card for me. I have a pretty good headset but it doesn’t help if I don’t have a sound card that has 150Ohm or better, It’s the Sennheiser PC350. So I put up this thing on a Norwegian Site that I wish to buy an ASUS sound card that has 150Ohm+, one guy said that he had a ASUS Xonar D2X that he wishes to sell. Ok so the price he wants for the sound card is 700 NOK with shipping (115USD or 88EURO), the thing is that shipping in Norway is insanely expensive = 120+ NOK (20USD). The sound card was bought in late june 2011. The cards price completely new is 1000 NOK + shipping (165 USD). Ok so my question to you guys is this a good price or should I ask for lower? And also, I can also save up and get another better sound card that is completely new, if so which one should I chose? The requirements for me are that it has really good sound quality and is able to run 150 Ohm headsets. Hi, I recently got a sound card (Asus Xonar Phoebus) and i would just like to know how to configure this part:(in picture) should I put the Sample Rate and Bit Rate to the Highest? or just keep it this way?

Linus's Phoebus Review at 3m:51s Dear Linus, In an effort to increase the accuracy of your review videos, as you got Slick to robotically pledge to us in that now infamous apology video, I'm writing this short note to you to try to educate both you AND the rest of the community about what EXACTLY an Op-Amp is. First things first, a definition. An Op-Amp is short for operational-amplifier, which as it's name implies, *BASICALLY* amplifies signals. It's original use was in old analog computers (old like the vacuum tube days) in order to perform calculations without more modern circuits. In modern times, it's one of the more important pieces of a modern solid-state amplifier. However, it is not a NECESSARY component of these devices as amplification can be implemented with only MOSFETs and JFETs as seen in amps like the Schiit Magni, mind you with a considerable increase in power requirements. It's very important to state that operational amplifiers, ideally, do NOT "color" sound unless they are poorly designed or poorly implemented in an analog amplifier circuit. Which is important in the notion that swapping them out WILL probably create a different result from the original op-amp, not because the new op-amp is "better" or because this is an "upgrade", but because an amplifier's circuit is usually designed around the properties of its Op-Amps. Other non-ideal deficiencies can include high slew rates, high output impedances, and limited gain, all of which must be dealt with by the TOTALITY of the circuitry used to create the amplifier. Fancy parts like gold caps and high-output op-amps are only as good as the board they are printed on and the specific parts they are connected to (and how they are connected and grounded!). I think it suffices to say swapping them is a fool's errand, something that I think Asus may have finally recognized not in principal but in the fact nobody really cared about that feature (including you). While I understand your point some people might like to screw with their own stuff as a hobby -- and I'm all for silly hobbies -- I think those people aren't really buying soundcards. Just saying. I just bought an Asus Xonar Phoebus, works perfectly but the Asus Sound Radar doesn't work when I turn it on, is it compatible only with certain games? how do I get it to work? Thanks!

Hi, i have that problem, when microphone, when plugged into xonar phoebus, is making buzzing, or humming noises, which get really annoying when GPU is under load. It's well known problem, and it cannot be solved by new drivers, because i tried without any, and it was the same. What should i do? I really like this card. Should i return it to the shop ( return of money ), or should i return it using warranty? What do you think? Has anybody some kind of information, about how to solve that problem?
