I have been using Pulseway ever since I watched one of linus’s videos. I have 3 computers that I need to setup for remote management for my family and when I went to Pulseway they stopped letting personal accounts be made because they are going for businesses only. Can anyone suggest any other remote management software that is free and also trustworthy. I looked on google and I keep getting turned towards “Jump Cloud”. Are they a reputable company? Thanks and God Bless

Hi, I am Polish immigrant that came to US couple years ago. Back in Poland I use to play only on PCs (Old Laptop). In US everyone of my friends and family are playing on consoles; I had no choice so I bought my first console (PS3). Couple months after that I bought my second console (PS4) but everyday I was thinking about all days when I was PC gamer. 1 year after that I decided to build my PC and come back to old days of PC Gaming. That's why I am here; I plan to spend at least 1,500$ on this project. It will take me a lot of time to get money for (at least 1 year) but dreams become true.....

I just felt like listing everything I intend to do at some point both at work and at home so I could have a list. And I figured I would share that list with people because why not? I'll probably check them off as I go or something and update when I get a major one done. If I have time, forums threads will accompany them if they are cool and I think people will care. Note that what stops me for many of the home ones is money. Also ETC = Estimated Time of Completion, ETA = Estimated Time of Arrival. Note also that all ETA/ETC's are assuming I don't join the Air Force. If I do, then those will obviously change a lot. Some things probably won't even happen. We'll see (If I become a drone pilot, which is totally a thing, I can still live in Texas and have tons of free time, it just all depends on the job). Home projects (ordered by which will get done first, most likely): Start making PCB jewelry and such out of my heaps of circuit/motherboards to sell on itzy and other websites. (ETA: 5/16/2014; ETC: Eventually) This will feed the others and is relatively easy to start and spreads over a long period of time, so it's first. Finish setting up my FreeNAS server with my plugins and such. (ETC: 5/17/2014) This still hasn't been done because I've been busy. It honestly ties with #1, but I'd prefer to complete or at least start #1 first. Thus the order. All I need to do is install the OS and get the plugins to work. I've got to find a stable version though and that's proving difficult. Route Ethernet through the walls in my home. (ETC: 6/21-31/2014) Approximate cost $200 or so in total, I intend to have a patch panel with Cat 6A because future proofing and me having a FreeNAS server for backups and such means I need no bottlenecks. It will also add value to my house, I'm sure. Finish or fix all the renovations going on in my home. (ETC: 5/11/2015) This is something that my step-dad was doing. However, he stopped when my mom died (they were doing it together). Since then, little has been done and most of it is unfinished. I have most of the materials. I just need to have time to do it. This sort of ties with #5, but this doesn't require much monetary input, so this is more likely to happen sooner. Set up Solar Panels on my roof. (ETA/C: Eventually) This has some issues as I have trees EVERYWHERE where I live, so I'm either going to have to trim some, or find a different way or place to mount them, approximate costs are $16,000 but I expect to get some grants and stuff for it too from my local and state government as well as my electricity company. I'm seriously considering an unorthodox and strange looking setup, but at the same time, I don't want to do that. My house would look dumb, and future buyers might not be interested in something like that. Although I do entirely intend to bring my solar panels and thermostat with me if I do move. Work projects (I'm not doing ETA/ETC or descriptions for these because it's work): Finish re-arranging a file server to where all the drives are formatted to allow usage of their total storage capacity, since they are formatted in MBR and not GPT. Finish setting up Roaming Profiles within our Domain. Finish setting up our Ubuntu server to host services like Cacti, Nagios, our internal messaging server-client program, and the like. Upgrade file server in #1 to server grade hardware (it's consumer stuff aside from the HDD's currently). Clean our phone closet and arrange all wires neatly (this will take FOREVER). My Gaming PC specific Projects: Buy a Logitech G502 (ETA: 7/11/2014 I love this mouse so much. :D The only negatives for me is the lack of a pinky rest and the blue light (only option), but I use that to maneuver my mouse anyway and it kind of goes with white/black anyway respectively. I may sell my current mouse to make up the difference to get this one anyway. I also decided some time ago that my next/final mouse would be a Logitech one after I watched a video of one of their engineers explaining the intricacies of Mice designing. Buy a new keyboard (after completing the review/in depth look at my current one) (ETA: 9/11/2014) I'm not sure what I'm going with after this. I only know it will be black or brown switches, full keyboard layout and will have macros. We'll see. I'll update this as I decide. Purchase another reference 290X or sell my current one and get a 295X2 if possible. (ETA: 11/11/2014) Preparing for 4K, and future watercooling. Watercool all the things (ETA: When finances allow) This one is going to take a while. I know what parts I want, how they are going to be set up, and everything, but hey, it's costly to water cool. And that's just counting those 3 categories. I have many more. This is why I'm so busy. :( So many things going on at once *sigh*.

Does Linus know more than 1 language? I am especially curious if he knows any ASL(American Sign Language) because in this video at 1:13 he signs 70 in asl.

Hello again, fellow TechTippians! So a little over a year ago, I posted this question to the forums "How to ship my Rig (Moving from the UK to USA)". Well, it's a year later. I've moved from London to Austin. My Personal Rig has come with me - and boy did I learn a few things about shipping computers internationally along the way... First of all, I want to stress something: @wolfsbane3083 had the best answer to my original question. However, due to budget constraints, time, and locally available resources, I had to go with a sliughtly different solution. That all said, i wanted to share my experience with you all, lest some other poor soul out there has to go through the same thing I did. THE RIG So the machine I was shipping was housed in a Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 5 body. Full specs include: CPU Intel i5 4960k Quad Core CPU Motherboard Asus Z97-PRO Gamer S1150 Z97 ATX RAM Kingston HyperX Savage 2400MHz (4x8gb - 32GB) GPU (x2) MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Gaming Twin Frozr Case Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 5 Storage (x1) Intel 535 240GB SSD, (x1) Samsung Evo 240GB SSD, (x2) WD Black 4TB HDD PSU EVGA SuperNOVA 750W PC Power Supply Cooling Corsair Hydro Series H110i GT 280mm Extreme Performance All-In-One Liquid CPU Cooler THE BUDGET Due to the expense of everything else with this move (I think I spent culmatively $8000 on Visa fees, Processing fees, Flights, Medical Exams, and more) I had to limit my shipping costs as much as possible. Overall, I had approximately $200 to spend on shipping. THE SOLUTION So how did I send it? It boiled down to a few stages: Deconstruction: I removed the HDDs and SSDs, along with my two Graphics Cards, and the WiFi antennas, from the rig prior to packing. I also put back into the case the original rear PCI-e shrouds. Packing: I used the box that came with my Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 5 case (as well as the original foam packing), filling the outside & inside of the case and box with ESD safe packing peanuts. Preparation: I placed the graphics card into their original ESD wrappers & retail boxes, and the HDDs and SSDs into a foam-lined steel carry case. These boxes all then were packed into my checked luggage. Shipping: Using the courier DPD in the UK, I paid approximately $180 for shipping & insurance (guaranteeing me reimbursement for damage done to the components at retail price) and taking it by hand to one of their depots. THE OUTCOME The rig arrived approximately 3 days after I did (taking 5 days overall). The box it arrived in was... frankly... destroyed. In hindsight, I could've definitely done with purchasing another box to place the case's box into, and attaching it to a flat wooden pallett. Unfortunately for cost (the side & weight of this would've moved me from consumer to commercial shipping costs, which were almost twice the amount I paid) I wasn't able to do this. Upon arrival, there were a few... concerning things that I noticed. Two of my RAM modules had become unlocked and gotten stuck between various other parts of the case They were otherwise undamaged, and are still recognised & used by my system without incident. The power-supply came loose from the case's bracket & the screw became lodged underneath the PSU's body This was the most notable damage to my system, as the actual PSU chassis has become slightly dented and damaged from moving around within the body of the case, during its journey. There were also things that didn't go wrong, and seem unaffected by their transatlantic journey: The CPU & All-in-one Water Cooler remained in place, undamaged, and tightened to the case Due to a lack of suitable box to place the Corsair H110i GT AIO Water-Cooler in for shipping, I was forced to leave it in the system. There has been no damage, or drop in performance. The original box that came with the Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 5 case is very resilient I switched from a Corsair Air 540 to the Mastercase Pro 5 about 6 months prior to my move, in small part because of Cooler Master's legendary packing materials. I was not disappointed. Okay guys, that my 'guide' to moving internationally. There are lots of mistakes I made (that hopefully someone else can learn from), and plenty of things I discovered along the way. If you're about to go through a similar move, and want any advice or want to ask any questions, please feel free to hit me up. Also checkout the original thread that was linked at the start of this post, as there are lots of useful tips in there from people who have actually worked in the shipping industry. That's all for now guys - catch you next time!

Reader, I am looking for a storage solution that will meet my needs for personal back up better than my current solution. My current solution is a WD passport 1TB, which is several years old and probably on its last legs, ergo the thought into upgrading. My backed up storage requirements are still within the 1-2tb range and i wont need much more for a while i don't think so a mild investment is acceptable. Due to my lack of knowledge into the personal back up world i have not really though of a budget so just realistic solutions would be nice, cheaper the better of course. Im looking for the storage to be: Relatively Fast (my current WD passport is so slow for copying and accessing, cant even watch a video) 1tb minimum but prefer 2tb unless I'm sacrificing space for cost effective speed. Secure! Some kind of encryption, or password protection, or something. Doesn't HAVE to be portable, but I'm not too good with servers and Cloud base storage, but I'm willing to learn if its advantageous enough. (would probably still need Cable access for speeeeds) Probably some other things but i cant think of them off the top of my head. My realistic use of this device or product is to back up my PC/Laptop's In one go (right now its really slow and i only back up personal or critical files, to which i clean regularly) then once i have performed said back up, i would store it away somewhere safe/ turn it off. So security and speed are my main focuses. I'm not to bothered about cloud access or network storage, but open to learn it and work on it if it is SUPER worth it, considering my use case. Thanks to all those who read and/or help! Have a lovely day.

why is it, that every ai personal assistant, from the google home to the amazon echo and home pod, resembles something that belongs in a bathroom, or utility room, with the exception of the google home mini, which looks like a doughnut - the apple home pod, like a toilet roll, the google home, like an air freshener, the amazon echo dot, like a tin of shoe polish, and the big 'echo plus' like a roll of kitchen roll???

So iv'e been looking to build a personal rig now for a while so i can get rid of my terrible laptop, Overtime i have looked at parts and then the rise in GPU prices happened and the GPU i was going to get went up to like £900 and that is way out of my budget which is about £700. So here is the rig that i have put together so far....... AMD ryzen 5 £128.99 ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti £169.99 ( https://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-geforce-gtx-1050-ti-cerberus-oc-4gb-gddr5-graphics-card-768-core-1341mhz-gpu-1455mhz-boost?v=c ) Corsair 8GB DDR4 Vengeance £94.82 ASUS AMD AM4 Ryzen TUF B350M PLUS Micro ATX £84.98 Corsair 550 Watt £59.99 CoolerMaster MasterBox Q300L Windowed micro-ATX/ITX PC Gaming Case £39.98 And a couple extra fans for the case. Seagate 1TB £36 Coming to a total of £631.52 What changes would you guys make that would stay within my £700-£750 budget?

Hey guys, First time poster here, but I need help. I have been looking on the web for a personal finance program and I have read bad things on just about everything I find. I know a lot of people say Quicken right off the bat, but I heard they switched to a subscription based program. There are those free apps like Mint and Acorns, but I hear they have issues syncing to bank accounts and it can turn into a huge inaccurate mess. I heard that YNAB got worse since and their support is bad. I just need something that either syncs very well with Union bank or that I can upload the bank files too or that is easy to use and I can manually enter everything. Any suggestions?

What's up, all? Well... I just spent 45 minutes typing a thread, hit submit, then get an error page and lost the whole damn thing. Awesome... I'm not even about to try to recreate what I typed, but, as the subject states, I'm looking for a new laptop to replace my cheap 2.5 year old Dell inspiron 15R (which replaced a Dell Inspiron 17R). I'm about to start building a custom gaming desktop, but I still want to be able to game with my laptop since I'm on the road all the time. For work I usually have 4-8 apps open at once, including excel, word, adobe, chrome, IE (several windows), and calculator. I also don't need a ton of storage as I have external network hard drive along with cloud backup. I'm leaning toward the XPS 15 (although I love the Razor Blade), but it seems like I can get similar performance out of the Inspiron 15 5000 for much less. I've also looked at the SAGER NP8152, Alienware, and FANGBOOK 4 SX6-VR500; but I feel like they might be a little overkill. Game wise, I play ESO, Civilization, and Hearts of Iron 4; cpu heavy... I don't want to spend more than $1500, but I want this thing to still be lightweight, have a long lasting battery, and not be an eyesore... Any tips including minimum specs (gpu, RAM, hard drive, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What the hell happened to the Custom Made case design that Linus was working on? Did it all just get thrown out the window since the Big Move to the new office or what?

My Setup/Personal Rig, Location: Germany, Date of purchase: ~30.03.2011 Usage: I'm mainly going to use it for gaming and school, homework, office, internet research with a lot of tabs open at the same time. (A LOT ~400 with ~50 loaded all the time right now, Firefox sometimes blacks out and does some weird black flickering stuff and it lags quite a bit, give it more access to ram?) I was quite surprised when I couldn't run Tomb Raider 2013 at ULTRA custom settings and now GTA V since I'm running every other game at MAX ULTRA custom. (haven't tested Batman Series, Dirt 3, Dirt Showdown, Mad Max, Project CARS, Watch_Dogs, and so on. Crysis 2 actually works but sucks compared to 1 and Warhead) I want to be able to play every game at max. except maybe Tomb Raider, GTA V, Project CARS. I will play Elite Dangerous: New Horizons and plan on getting Imagine: Star Citizen as well as other games (obviously) I've got another MS DOS setup for the old games. Sound/Music processing where I already have the equipment but not the skill, so it can wait. For the future I want it to be able to do some mild CAD work. So to come to a Conclusion: It's going to get quite expensive, so my main objective is the new Graphics Card since that's a must. I've got Holidays for a week now so i wanted to get all the parts and planning during that time, at least the GPU and some Drives. If I've missed something important or something else hit me up. sorry if this is already mentioned cant check due to search not being there https://www.gov.uk/gosuperfast Government and local authorities are investing £1.7 billion to help bring superfast broadband to over 95% of the UK by 2017. there is a postcode checker that tells you options for broadband in the area dont know if there is any push to make things cheaper for personal broadband but there seems that there is up to a £3000 voucher for businesses which I think can only be a good thing but i do wonder how that will work if it is a £3000 for investment or to keep bills going overtime .... website is brief https://www.gov.uk/broadband-delivery-uk gives more detail with a 3 phase program to cover 90% then 95% and then test ways to provide to the remaining 5% as well as SuperConnected Cities Programme that has broadband connection voucher scheme, Wi-Fi projects and "innovative digital projects" could we see similar to whats planned in New York(?) eventually happen in the UK? as well as investments in mobile infrastructure trying to remove the black spots so everyone has some coverage https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/making-it-easier-for-the-communications-and-telecoms-industries-to-grow-while-protecting-the-interests-of-citizens/supporting-pages/improving-mobile-coverage https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-secures-landmark-deal-for-uk-mobile-phone-users Full mobile coverage going up from 69% to 85% with guaranteed voice and text to 90% having legally binding contracts with EE, O2, Three and Vodafone

I have been wanting to set up a personal server for a while for backup and important storage. I have looked at storage solutions like drobo however they are expensive. I want to hook three computers to a personal storage unit and I want to hear what anyone has to say. Please include links and reviews if you have a personal storage solution. Thank you.

So I noticed many people were making threads that sound like this: Topic title: XXXX dollars PC build Hey, guys i need build for xxxx dollars but im not sure for the parts etc. etc. And i need it really fast i can't wait ___________________________________________________________ Randomly i decide to browse a Croatian forum and see a very clean thread, a PC building thread. Now goes the question: What is the purpose of this one? To make a functional thread that reduces spam to the minimal while at the same time, helps other members build their PC's correctly, now, if you already don't know how to build one, there is a sticky called "DIY PC", go there, watch some PC building youtube videos and come back, if this one could actually be merged with the DIY PC one it would be awesome, but very cluttered, anyways, after you've come here and know how to build your pc, but need help with just post your budget, your wanted part vendors (amd, intel, asus etc...) and what do you need your PC for, from where you need to buy your parts, and what special add-ons and possible upgrades would you need in it... AND BY THE PARTS PEOPLE IN HERE SUMBIT FOR OTHER USERS WHO WANT TO LETS SAY EDIT, I WILL IMPLEMENT A POPULAR CONFIGURATION AT A CERTAIN PRICE IN THE OP POST SO PEOPLE WHO NEED PC'S FAST COULD ACTUALLY BUILD ONE So the actual post should look like this: _________________________________ Use of my PC: Editing in Adobe Suite Budget: 500 $ (or any other value like euro, kuna, dinar) Vendors: AMD, MSI, Western Digital, Corsair Specialties: Precise pherephials, and a tablet. ___________________________________________ and my answer, or answer of anyone on the forum should be a partslist and some lines covering why should you get just them... AND IF SOME PARTLISTS GET VERY POPULAR BY LIKE COUNT, OR EVEN DOUBLE POSTED FOR SAKE OF NOT MAKING UP ANOTHER CONFIGURATION WHEN YOU ALREADY GOT A GOOD ONE, they will get implemented in the OP post COME ON GUYS, LETS MAKE THIS WORK The thread will be updated every day, and we will add configurations for overdone things like gaming and editing in this very op post here, like a "catalog" on most popular price tags, either I will post configurations or either you users will post in and i will implement it in this thread. ___________________________________________________________________________________________- 250 Dollar AMD build Type: slight gaming CPU: AMD A4-6300 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor ($54.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: Asus A55M-E Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard ($54.99 @ Amazon) Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($39.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($52.48 @ OutletPC) Case: Apex TM366BK MicroATX Mid Tower Case w/300W Power Supply ($39.99 @ Mwave) Total: $242.44 Optional: Dvd Rom 15.99 dollars Graphics card (Depends on your power supply)

I know this sounds stupid but what is the dumbest rumour you have ever heard about yourself?
