I'm currently building myself an office and I need to have my PC in a place where I need to fish wires through the wall. Its also a wall that will be hard to work on once the sheetrock is in so I want to run my cables once and not have to worry about it. It's only about 15ft from rear IO to monitor so my current plan is to run Ethernet (because its cheap and easy), Display Port, and Thunderbolt 3. The Ethernet is kind of extra and I probably won't use it. I will have an active DP cable into my GPU since I don't think I can run it through TB3 since its 3440x1440p @120hz with G-Sync. Then I will have TB3 (prob with a TB4 cable for future proofing) for my peripherals including mouse, kb, mic, 1080p webcam. The thing I am worried about there is added latency so I figured TB would be better than USB. Does this sound good so far? For hardware I need to get a Thunderbolt card for my mobo and they have a weird proprietary TB header called ThunderboltEX. I can get one new or used but I can't tell if its required to use TB? Its a PCIe card with a cable to a 5 pin header. Can or should I just use a standard TB PCIe card? I don't mind getting one that isn't top spec because when I upgrade my mobo in the future I will look for one with built in TB 4. To recap, is Ethernet + DP + TB a good set of cables with low latency? Should I use ThunderboltEX or another card? Any recommendations for cables or TB hubs for on my desk? Thanks Specs: Intel i7 7700k Asus Z170-A EVGA RTX 2080 Super 32GB RAM Alienware AW3418DW [3440x1440p @120hz G-Sync] Links: Asus Z170-A Manual Asus ThunderboltEX Card

Hello I have a very big issue that I've been experiencing with my PC's lighting using Asus Aura Creator. The problem I'm having is that some keys on my Asus ROG Claymore keyboard are not lighting up when using my profile. I don't know if it's a software, code issue, or a hardware limitation in the processing on the keyboard. I wonder if the problem would be detectable in event viewer, if there is a config file or if I need to fix my installation of Aura Creator. It's disappointing when you invest about $9,000 on a Video Production PC for casual work and the lighting and aesthetic of what is essentially a ten thousand dollar PC does not work properly. If anybody can respond with extensive troubleshooting steps or solutions I can try in great detail as I have had learning delays in the past and struggled understanding instructions initially. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to any help you guys can provide.

Hi, I'm looking for a 75% keyboard (so it's a quite compact keyboard but still with the function keys), just like the K2 from Keychon but with a wireless connection made for gaming. So not a bluetooth connection. A connection comparable the "lightspeed" from Logitech. I can't find any keyboard that meets my wishes... Does anyone have an idea?

Hi Team, I am working in a company as a Software Developer. Recently I started WFH and purchased an LG 27UP850-W monitor and want to use this as my productivity setup. The monitor contains, an USB-C, 2 USB, 2 HDMI and 1 Display port. I am using my companies laptop. My question is, I have connected Keyboard and Mouse to the available USB ports of the LG display. Now my comp. laptop has a thunderbolt port available. 1. Can I connect my laptop thunderbolt port to the USB-C of LG Display? 2. If I can connect, can I output display along with using keyboard and mouse which is connected to LG display? 3. Will my laptop be able to get charged at the same time? Please help me with this. Thanks, Harsh.

Hello, this is my first post and I would like to bring some questions I would like some answers for. I just recently bought a WD Blue SN570 SSD of 250GB(the SSD don't look like the official pictures, it look like the pic in this URL). So my questions are: Does the SSD can use the full speed of any USB(A, C, Thunderbolt) port(with adapter/s) with an external enclosure like this one from Amazon? SABRENT Dual Enclosure - Thunderbolt 3 Can I use the Thunderbolt 3 cable in the enclosure and turn it in a USB-C(non-thunderbolt) cable so I can cap the maximum speed offered with that USB-C port? Can I cap this USB-C 3.2 gen 2x2 PCIe Card in speed with the enclosure of the first question? This question are for me to convert my unused SSD in some kind of multi-purpose tool for diagnosis/backup/OS installation at the same time I coul use the full speed of the device fastest port. How I'm planning of using it as multi-purpose tool? Using Ventoy so I can store diagnosis tool and isos so I can simply launch the application with out installed OS or any interfering local disk slowing my tools. ¡I'm open to suggestions!

Hello, BLUF: I am in need of an internal optical drive that is has HDR UHD capability, and would like help if you know of some drives that are suitable. Body: I am a fan of HTPCs that replace most of the entertainment center to include consoles and BR players, i have one that i made a few years back however my drive is not UHD HDR capable, i was looking to upgrade it while also building HTPCs for my brother and his friend to move into the PC gaming world from console. They have both also requested optical drives capable of UHD HDR formats and playback. However, I have only found 2 internal drives on the market that seems to have both capabilities Pioneer (BDR-212UBK), Pioneer BDR-212UBK and the Pioneer (BDR-211UBK) Pioneer BDR-211UBK. The BDR-211UBK is an outdated drive and found it on amazon, but the description is written strangely, in bold writing it says "Ultra HD Blu-ray is supported only if a display is powered by Intel Graphics and supports HDCP 2.2. If your computer includes more than one graphics processor, Ultra HD Blu-ray is supported only on the display that is connected and powered by Intel Graphics." Does this mean i can't use a graphics card like a 2070 for the display output to use the drive for BD playback???? Or does it mean that i just can't have a Intel CPU without integrated graphics like a I5-9600KF, but am able to use a graphics card as long as the CPU has integrated graphics? I don't see how that would be an issue. I know that everything needs to be capable of it down the line to the monitor or TV, even now my graphics card and Pioneer ELITE receiver are HDCP capable... (refer to attached image) in both of these drives too, the only mention of HDR is it saying that if you have a non HDR display media will be output as SDR and they do not simply advertise the HDR capability. very confusing... Please help.. I was curious if anyone had any other models, options or any luck with using these drives and could elaborate on the requirements for HDR UHD playback on PC? TLDR: I need to upgrade my BLU-RAY drive in my HTPC and build 2 HTPCs for other people with HDR UHD capable BLU-RAY optical drives. However, i am unsure about the system requirements for a drive i found that may work and found another drive that may work but it doesn't state it is HDR capable, it only mentions that HDR media will be converted to SDR media if connected to a non HDR display. i'm looking for insight, and suggestions as well as other options for drives.

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my home printer from a $60 Canon from a couple years ago. I am getting a new job that i will likely need to use a (2 side scanner, 2 side color printer, wireless connectivity, and fax would be nice to have), however i am getting into photography as a hobby and i'm looking for something that will be able to produce good quality color prints. I've looked around the internet, but most of the printer reviews are really generic, and the specs for printers on manufacturer sites are also very generic, still acting like WiFi is a new feature. I guess i'm looking for recommendations for an all around great printer for business printing and high quality photo printing.

Budget (including currency): £800? Perhaps more Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games Other details: don't actually need the PC yet.. Soo for a little bit of background I've been gaming with just a laptop for several years now (gtx 980m so not that bad), but I've just moved house and actually have an office with space for a pc again . With all the new fancy graphics cards coming out near the end of the year that's when I'm going to get a new rig.. However in the meantime I need to get everything else e.g. desk, chair, keyboard, headphones, (already got a mouse), random little desk cactus ect. I'm not 100% sure on what my build will be yet but I'm not expecting a multi monitor setup, probably just a 32" screen, and a smallish pc build on the desk, so will need a biggish desk. My thoughts so far are as follows: Desk: Ikea IDÅSEN 160x80 cm It's big and desky so should work fine? Chair: No idea, was going to get a nice IKEA one but the stores near me are out of stock. Mouse: Currently got a razor mouse that works fine so will stick with that for now Keyboard: ??? Something well made, clicky? Tempted by a razor huntsman just so that it'll match my mouse with RGB fancyness. Headphones: I've heard good things about the new Razer BlackShark V2 so might as well stick with the razor theme. Mouse mat: Not sure, what are your thoughts on the massive ones? Awesome comfyness or a pain to keep clean? Anything else? I'm bound to be forgetting loads of stuff, if you know anything cool that a desk needs to have let me know. Fancy rgb Any and all suggestions you can make are welcome

So another problem with my computer build. On my old Windows 8.1 PC, my Blue Yeti worked perfectly. But now on my new PC running Windows 10 it does not. I have all the latest drivers installed for my Z370-E Asus motherboard. I've also tried what is recommended on the Microsoft help forums and that didn't work. Any guidance would be appreciated.

The blackwiddow has such a nice satisfying tactile feedback compared to my Deathstalker. i wasnt 100% sure oin which keyboard to buy so i went to my local store to try out the ones that they had on the demonstration shelf. and i walked away with a bank balance £165 lighter and a new Blackwidow. Help my PC when I press the power button terns on but no peripherals light up and no signal shows up. The plot thickens when I say that the lights in my headset are always on(the headset uses an aux to connect to the PC and and a USB port only for power no thing else), and that my peripherals light up for like 5 seconds only after I turn off the PC switch the power supply cutoff switch on then off again and then press the power button. I know the PC is on because all fans spin on the psu, the heat sink, and the case fans and the lights on one of my fans lights up. Any help or tips would be very much appreciated, Thanks. It cut out while watching youtube. my system includes CPU fx 6300 stock cooler amd rx 480 4gb 8 gb ddr3 ram 120gb ssd windows 10 home 600 watt psu

Title kinda says it all. Building a PC, I plan to buy it on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but it's a lot more expensive than I expected. Most people I ask tell me that $700-$1,500 is a good price to shoot for, but so far, my build clocks in at $2787.70... I'm not really sure what I could safely downgrade. I want it to be able to run new games on high or ultra-high for at least a year or two, and all of the parts I picked seemed like the best out of everything recomended to me. Any downgrades to recomend? Should I even be worried about this price? (it's within my budget but I'll always jump at the chance to grub a bit more money) Also, if it's not too much trouble, I'm not sure what case/monitor/keyboard/mouse ect ect I should go with. Periferals and all. Any recomendations in that field would be welcome. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/68HtYJ

Hey everyone, I am looking in a mouse to get to kick off the summer. I have ~$100 to spend and need a mouse that is, most importantly comfortable. I game, like most here, in long sessions at a time so I need a mouse that I can use for hours on end. Secondly I want it to be aesthetically pleasing, I know Linus swears by the ikari lazer, but I can not stand the way it looks, sorry Linus. For reference I love the way the DeathAdder 2013 and Logitech g700s look, both are mice I am seriously looking into. If you have any experience with them please let me know. I much appreciate any suggestions, thanks in advance guys. DFJ
