Hello, I'm hopefully going to be purchasing a dell xps 2 in 1, and would really like to get a stylus recommendation. I'm actually surprised that LTT hasn't done a pen round up yet. I'm not really a drawer, I'm really looking for something closer for note taking and quick sketching rather than proper art. The biggest need is for when I head to law school in the upcoming year.

I turn on my laptop (Lenovo Yoga Y520) like usual but somehow the touchscreen doesnt work but the pen does, so I go ahead disable the driver and enable it again but that doesnt work, So I uninstall the driver hoping the window will reinstall it with a fresh driver and that also doesnt work too. So what should do next? I'm thinking a bios update and hoping it will work again. I have tried to update the touchscreen filmware from lenovo official website, but when I install the filmware it says target device not found. Also the display flicker like when the driver is being installed but after the flicker another problem came in, there is a square artifact on the display. I didn't open anything yet im just on the desktop and there is a smal square artifact. The artifact size is about 1 inch x 1 inch. So does anyone know how to fix it? Soon I will do a fresh windows install if the methods on the internet doesnt work. Any response will be helpful Thank you

Hey guys, so it seems I should retire my surface pro 2 for a new 2-in-1 I was looking at the HP spectre x360 with an i5 and 8gb ram, looks great for my needs (would've preferred 16gb but they never go with i5s ) It seems perfect, but it seems like it doesn't work with an active pen. Now I am not a massive stylus user, but I do need it sometimes to jot down a diagram or formula while taking notes in onenote I went to a local computer store where they had this laptop and asked one of the workers if it would work with a pen and he replied that of course it would, since it's a touchscreen I don't put to much trust in that guy... But I don't see why it shouldn't be the case. I heard there is no Active pen support but honestly I don't need that, like I said, simple diagrams and formulas occasionally How can I try out if the model in the store can support a pen? Do you think it will? I have a surface pro 2 pen, should i try to see if that works? Thanks for the help to the clueless dude

So I'm looking at buying a pen display. I assume Wacom has the best displays and particularly 16 inch cintiq pro model seems to me the best for the money. I've never owned or even tried a pen display before though so I wanted to ask if there are any better options out there? Thanks. also as a side note, why tf is wacom's biggest most expensive model 1440p while they have another model that's like half the size and half the price that is 2160p

If you haven't used it please don't comment. For anyone who has used it, how has your experience been? I've been trying to sell my SP3 for a while because of all the random glitches and driver issues, and I'm looking to replace it with the base 32gb iPad Pro 9.7" (that I'll buy used for around $300) and an Apple Pencil (that I'll also used around $80). I know that the iPad is "less" powerful than the SP3 since one is a full desktop experiece yadda yadda, but A) I don't need that, and B) that's part of the problem -- Windows on a touch screen is really just shit.

So i bought my xps 9350 a while ago thinking that I didnt need any 2 in 1 functionality but as of recently i realized having a stylus with my laptop would be amazing (yes I have a touch screen) I hate the rubber tipped gigantic stylus' and i was wondering if there was good stylus (similar to the surface pen) that would go well with a touch screen laptop??

Hi everyone. I read, edit, summarize, present.... numerous documents due to work. I want to do sketching and handwriting on a tablet. Without too much lag and too less precision. I also like reading on the road from my devices, unfortunately my current phone is too small for this business and it is not old enough to justify a change. The tablet doesn't need to have a very strong cpu/gpu. I want to be able to do mainly light tasks without carrying my laptop around and increase my productivity for my hobbies. So, I need a tablet that meets following requirements: - No less than 9 inches - Supports pen and keyboard - Full workday battery life under mixed usage - Good speakers (for a tablet) for occasional video/audio consumption - Screen should be easy on eyes but doesn't have to have top notch color reproduction or coverage - Must be cheaper than giants like ipad pro, surface pro, latest Samsung tablets... - A bit anti-reflective coating and good brightness levels - Good build quality, material type is not very important unless they use poisonous chemicals easily dispersing around Here is the nice-to-have list: - Top-of-the-line wireless and Lte connectivity - Usb type c - Fast charging capability - High pixel density/good resolution Thanks in advance.

Hi. I have Dell XPS 15 from work that has touch screen and it seems like drawing with fingers works ok. I want to use a pen though. There is PN556W Dell Active Pen available, but I would like to get some feedback about it, if it is any good, and if there is anything I should consider before buying. Is there anyone who has experience with Dell Active Pen or alternatives? Or even is XPS any good with a pen? Thanks!

Hello, until now i used a T440p in combination with a thinkpad-tablet for university. Also I use the laptop for random surfing, and youtube stuff. But both of them are getting really bad. The performance of my tablet is laggy, and sometimes I'm not able to write down something, because windows is updating or a tiny thing is running in the background. And my thinkpad have seen better days, mainboard have a few issues, like DAC is defective and the charging-circuit is bad. So I decidet to upgrade, but my budget isn't the biggest one. I really need: 1. Active Digitizer, for writing math-stuff down. 2. 1080p or up display 3. decent battery time (at least 3h) 4. not really expensive I would like an ryzen 7 setup like the 3700u, so I'm at least able to play the one game I play while not at home (sea of thieves). For real gaming I have a gaming-pc, also for intense university software, like CAD-Stuff. I looked around and found the 1. HP ENVY x360 13-ar0106ng 827,08€ 2. ASUS Zenbook Flip 14 UM462DA-AI022T 877€ 3. Lenovo Ideapad C340-14API 81N60039GE 799€ My max budget would be 850€, but a few € more wouldn't kill the deal If you have other idears, or think one of them would be more suitable, please let me know.

There was recently a video uploaded by LTT, about a portable monitor. I am now wondering if there is a monitor available that has pen input and works as an external monitor for a phone (pixel 2 xl). My use case would be to take notes in class, since this would be cheaper than buying a notebook only for class.

So I'm interested in buying the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (2nd hand), however the pen is way too costy for me and I'm looking for the cheapest possible active pen alternative. Pressure sensitivity is required though. I want sth that will have the same functionality (pressure sensitivity, tilt and high-precision). I own an Acer Switch 3 which has an "Acer Active Pen" but I'm not sure whether or not it will work with the MS Surface pro 4. If that works I'll just keep it and use it, but if it doesn't what else could I obtain with minimal price? Here's the pen I own: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/model/NP.STY1A.009 Thanks in advance!

Hi I recently purchased a lenovo yoga c740 and I was wondering if anyone knows whether it supports pens that have tilt functionality. I know it does support Lenovos pressure sensitive active pen and active pen 2 styluses as well as some wacom pens but I can't seem to find any indication online as to whether it also supports styluses, like the lenovo pen pro, which have tilt functionality.

Hey LTT Forum, (first time here posting) while searching for alternatives to classic wacom tablets and pen tablets in general, I found this interesting device and would like to know your thoughts about this E-Ink Tablet. The interesting thing is that it combines E-Ink Display with a pen which is designed for notes and drawings. The resolution is advertised as high enough for those purposes. For a device with those functionalities it's pretty pricey. https://remarkable.com/store/reMarkable-and-marker I would appreciate to get some feedback. Thanks and have a nice day.

Hello, I'm waiting from HP (because my Pavilion 14 was lost during the travel to their repair service) the delivery of an HP Spectre 2018 (8Gen Processor), as everybody know the HP Spectre has an active pen (like the Surface Pen) that for me (I'm a student) will be very usefull to take notes during the lessons but I have a doubt: I have a bad calligraphy on paper (I won't even think on a screen with digitalizer how bad can be), can Windows automatically improve/correct the stroke, the shapes and the calligraphy in general? I know that exist an OCR function but I'd really like to have my notes written by me but understandeable Thanks in advance, Carlo. Note: I'm really sorry if there are grammar/ortography errors, I'm still learning and I'm using a Lenovo Netbook to write this thread, I hope in Your comprehension.

Has anyone seen information about the new Lenovo Tablet 10? (link) I'm interested in it but there's very little in the way of information out there about it. I'm looking at it as a replacement for my ageing Surface 3, as I don't want to spend £200 just for the pen and keyboard for the Surface Go

Hello everyone, I'll start university in a couple of months, and I'd really like to use something digital instead of a paper notebook. I considered many alternatives, but all of them left me kinda unsatisfied. They are, with each's drawback: 1. 2018 iPad 6 with pencil (feels like I'm buying an iPad air) 2. Either wait for the new iPad Pro or buy the 2nd gen, still with the pencil (it's quite expensive, and I know I probably don't need it) 3. Buy a 2 in 1 (I'd have liked it to have Ryzen, but isn't the battery life worse than Intel? How much? Also, a 13" screen (or even 15") as a piece of paper... Is it doable?) 4. Buy a windows/android tablet (android tablets feel like a bigger phone, so a duplicate, and windows tablets are either too expensive (surface book) or don't have a good CPU (eve v, surface go)) So, since the community has more experience, what do you say on this? Thank you for your time, EMENCII

Dear linustechtips forum, dear reader, I bought a Microsoft Surface Pro (V5) about two months ago. Right from the start, I noticed a strong inaccuracy with the newest Surface Pen (V4). Palm rejection works fine, but when my palm rests on the screen, the cursor and drawing line jumps uncontrollably in all directions. This phenomenon is so annoying and disturbing, that writing with the Surface becomes basically impossible. I stumbled over this post in the internet: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpronew-surfdrivers/surface-pro-intermittent-pen-inaccuracy-when-hand/28ef8566-0003-4c68-a964-6c2562423eb0?rtAction=1514844810410 So apparently 1200 people have the same problem, but Microsoft doesn’t respond or change anything. The post is already half a year old. After contacting Microsoft, they first told me that they're working on the problem, but I should send my Surface for repair. Received a new one, but the problem still exists. We need more attention to this problem, and more people to know about this, so they're warned, and if they want to rely on the pen, don't buy the Surface. The best thing would be if Linus checks his Surface for the problem as well and makes a video about it, but that is probably too much to ask. So, tell anyone that thinks about buying a Surface about this, because Microsoft doesn't care Thanks for your time.

I recently got a used pavilion x360 convertible laptop (14m-ba015dx) from my local bestbuy, and everything ran very smoothly except for the active pen that came with it. The pen is an SPEN-HP-001 (905512-001). From what I could gather from the support tickets I read it was a problem with the drivers, so I updated all of the hp drivers and then did a clean install of the hp pen control program and the touchscreen driver, and then I updated the BIOS as well. I bought brand new batteries for the pen, and still no luck. The instructions for the pen said to just put the battery in and touch the screen to use it, and I've tried looking for ways to pair it otherwise but no luck. The wonderful HP employees just tell everybody to check compatibility lists for the pens, but I checked and mine was on there it just isn't working. Am I missing something or is this active pen just broken? I feel like BestBuy would have made sure the pen worked before selling it...
