I've been noticing a trend lately where it feels like more and more PC hardware is being designed for gaming. Over the last few years it almost feels like the hardware isn't being developed for business but more for the gamer market. Granted I do follow gamer related channels, I haven't seen videos talking about what the new hardware is being used for in business, deep learning, science, etc etc. Are companies like Nvidia, intel, and the like, focusing more on the gamer? Or is it because I haven't really looked into hardware being used for other fields beside just games. Let me know what you guys and girls think!

HI, i would like to ask you some question, 1 Can i link two different pc's on a different internet position with the vpn creation from windows ? for example: a laptop is what would log in instead the desktop is going to be the worktower, I have already tried and it works.I got some problems that i searched on internet the Windows VPN and it seems that it work randomly sometimes yes sometimes no. 2 If not, can i use a vpn connection for example like WinScribe, to connect the pcs? or it's just a private connection that secure your navigation? For Example i'm connecting to a VPN with the laptop and the desktop shouldn't be the same like i already did? We are talking about a close local VPN so it should be work like at house or university, no? I'm a little confused about this Connections, because i even proved at university and it works for a while, than it stops and dosean't work again. It's seem to me that Windows VPN can't connect always. Exactly what i need is to create a share folder on a PC tha can be access by other 2-3 pcs from internet, so that they can edit it too, from other location, is possible?

how to use hdds in different pc as local disks?
Xeliath posted a topic in Servers, NAS, and Home Lab
So, I heard a NAS isn't good for storing games (And playing them frequently) I want to have my Steam library go there, and I also need to be able to use a drive to record to (I have multiple drives.) What would be? Please include instructions, as in this catagory, I'm very dumb. If you are wondering why I would ask this question, it is because I need more fans in my case (A InWIn 805) and that requires taking the hdd cage out. I do not want to use a external drive enclosure, but I do have a second computer with free SATA ports and SATA power, and it has ethernet if that means anything. I also have about 6 HDDs, but I won't use RAID due to different capacities, brands, and rotation speed. Yes, I literally don't know how many HDDs I have (Because some might be dead, I have a total of 12) But is it possible to redirect OBS (I use OBS to record) to write to a HDD instead of my C drive? I cannot afford to spend any money on this right now, so only free options work ._. If a HDD only NAS is fine for games and recording, then just say so. Thank you- 27 replies

I've decided that I want to switch out my PC while it still has a little value. Looking at used parts has opened my eyes as to what a budget PC really is. And therefore I have decided to sell my prebuilt. So I want to clean it up before I put it up for sale. Which is where you come in! How do i clean it (only on the outside) I have bought some isopropyl alcohol (93%)(i think? pic attached) Do it need anything else or am I good to go? (also have a compressor)

I am wondering, what are some of the best streaming PC's on the market currently?
-
Okay so I have a driver problem. My GPU drivers seem to uninstall themselves whenever I go to play a game. I can restart and they come back, or I can reinstall them in the same instance, and either way whenever I launch the game again, they uninstall. My computer got temporarily moved and I needed a WiFi card, so I installed one, problem has existed since. Removing WiFi Card however, I still get the same problem. I seem to be getting an error code 43 in device manager. - A generic error code when windows has a problem with a device. Anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this to happen?

Alright so, recently I have been messing around on pcpartpicker with different budgets and uses. And boys, I think I finally did it, the ultimate mix between budget, upgradability, and gaming performance. This is an amazing day and age. For only 450$ (excluding OS). Here it is... the ultimate budget build Finding the correct parts isn't necessarily hard, but you have to know what to look for. I chose the Pentium because it had hyperthreading with a good clock speed while still being in a modern chipset. The motherboard is an H270 because of it not like you're gonna overclock a dual-core, and it could go all of the things I needed, including USB 3.0 and PCIe 3.0, as for ram, 8GBs is definitely enough and this motherboard has 4 DIMM slots so there a lot of room for upgradability, it runs on ddr4 and the CPU socket is LGA1151 so you can upgrade to a 7700k later on or something. The GTX 1050 is probably the best budget GPU you can get this week (because the prices fluctuate so much) but you can grab one for about 110. and its always good to have some kind of modular PSU because you can get rid of unneeded cables which are great for cable management. The case has plenty of room for other taller coolers and even Radiator support. Everything on this list is about expandability, so there you go. /////------>look at it now <----- \\\\\ thanks for coming to my TED talk

Hello wonderful world of LINUS FORUMS! I am in the need of your expertise in PC building and buying. I am getting a new PC for college in around a month and have no idea what to get. All I know is that I want to be able to play battlefield at 1920x1080 with 60 fps, other titles such as Rust and CS:GO are in my genre of games. I have been looking at some websites and IBuyPower but I want to ensure that I am getting the best bang for my buck and I also am kind of scared of building the PC myself since i'm so clumsy. Any information/tips would be appreciated. *EDIT* I didn't disclose how much money I had for the build (1k$ to 1.2k$ American)

I am trying to build two small (micro atx) computers. This is because I'll be sharing space with the other person and we would like to save as much space as possible. I was looking at a review on the thermaltake v21 and I tight it might be possible to stack the computers. You guys think this is possible? Thanks in advanced

Pocketnow: http://pocketnow.com/2016/01/14/iphone-outsells-pc-pocketnow-daily Topic Title says all. I think we can all agree that it's because PCs can't be replaced easily; most PCs can last 5+ years before a significant upgrade is needed. While people tend to replace phones after 1-2 years.. What do you think?

I am 15 and like building PCs and I would like to start doing it as a business. I live in the US, and I was wondering what the required things are to start building and selling. I would like to sell them online on a website like Ebay, or even on my own website. I wouldn't be hiring anyone, it would be in my house by myself. If you have any other advice, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

So, I've compiled a list of various pcpartpicker part lists that I've found myself using frequently, I thought maybe I should share them all in one place. One note, I've had very good experiences with EVGA's ACX coolers for a while, feel free to change them as you please. On top of that, most of the builds here focus on more of a black theme so it can be changed easily for a red, green, yellow, etc. accent. No OS included, if you shop around right you can find an OS easy. Be sure to reply suggestions!

Dear members, I am wanting to sell my PCs to get some more money to make a new one. I was wondering which people would think would be more profitable: selling it in pieces or whole? It is used a I wanted to sell it...would it be more profitable to sell it in pieces or to sell it whole. I would think it would be more profitable to sell it in pieces, because I could sell each piece for slightly more than the percent they are worth in a whole build (depending on the part). If that makes sense. Also I feel that I could slightly over price a whole build and not get buyers but if I sell it in parts I could better price them. I'm not trying to cheat anyone I just would like to see which would be more profitable. Please leave your options in a response, anything is greatly appreciated! Thank you! (this is my first forum post so also let me know if it's good) -reagain900

Hello I am currently selling this Gaming PC (http://www.ebay.com/itm/281562670591?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649) I have been selling this Computer for a while and have not gotten much interest. I don't think I made any mistakes with the Hardware choice or the Pricing, Here's the full specs: -AMD FX 6300 CPU @3.5Ghz (6 Cores) -Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 Motherboard -8GB of DDR3 @1600Mhz -1TB Hardrive -AMD r9 270x -600W PSU -Fractal Design Core 1000 Case For $750 I thought I was offering a good value. This leads me to the question: "What am I doing wrong?" As you can see there are no watchers and the thing obviously hasn't sold it just has views. Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello, recently I've been trying to build a decent gaming PC on a budget of 1400 Singapore dollars. I intend to play heavily modded Skyrim on ultra. I've found all the parts that I need except the video card. I've narrowed down my choices to the PowerColor PCS+ R9 290 4GB and the PowerColor TurboDuo R9 290 4GB OC. I have set aside S$435 to spend on the video card. The TurboDuo version costs S$439 while the PCS version is currently on promotion and is S$459, making it S$159 cheaper than the usual price of S$618 (Do note that prices in Singapore tend to be higher than elsewhere from what I've seen). I am having trouble deciding on my own even after doing research on whether the PCS is worth going over budget or if I should go with the TurboDuo. Can I have opinions on which is worth buying? 1 Singapore dollar = 0.8 US Dollar

Hey guys! So a while back I found a Bitfenix Prodigy on eBay for 15 bucks with a broken handle and jumped on it. Although the guy failed to mention that the one handle that the one surviving handle was slightly broken so that it could not screw on to the case on one side, thus not being able to hold any weight. This meant I would have to buy 2 handles from Bitfenix. Now this wouldn't be such a big issue if Bitfenix shipped with someone other than FedEx... I need about 30 dollars in case parts and shipping is just under the same price as whatever your buying. And me being on a budget this made buying all the parts needed at that price not an option. Although I did stumble upon this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/chassis-clearance?mode=list Used Prodigy's for half off and free shipping, some practically brand new! I just need to ask before I buy if this is a safe place to buy from. I don't need to be loosing any more money here now that I'm so close to finishing my build. And don't you guys DARE buy these things out now that you know about it! THERE (at least 1 of them) MINE! Oh and I haven't purchased a MOBO yet so other cases are still an option id need be but I really like this case and I have a plan formulating in my brain for a sweet modding project!
