Hi. My Zotac RTX 2070 super Amp Extreme is running at PCIe x16 3.0 @ x8 3.0 checked in GPU-Z. I have tried reinstalling the drivers for GPU. I have reinstalled windows as well and updated the bios of the motherboard as well. Last week my GPU started doing wired stuff like green and blue lines in videos on YouTube using hardware acceleration. the video was glitching and was playing frame by frames. My wallpaper engine started glitching as well on hardware acceleration and My local stored 4k, HDR videos started glitching as well and was playing frame by frame. Disabled the Hardware acceleration resolved the issue. Then after 2 days, the GPU stopped working and I was unable to install the driver and the device manager was giving an error in GPU [Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) ]. Frames were dropping and the games started to crash after every 10 mnts. So I gave the GPU for RMA. Today I got the newly replaced unit of GPU. Youtube, Wallpaper engine is working fine now on hardware acceleration now and my local stored 4k, HDR videos are working fine as well but the GPU is still running at x8 instead of x16. I have stress tested the GPU and CPU as well and checked the wattage usage in HWmonitor if it's fluctuating or not.I have reseated the CPU GPU, reseated all PSU connectors, I have updated the Mob BIOS as well. Hi there! I bought a "Rog Strix Z690-i" and have a few Questions: 1. I bought a Kraken X63 and I can't use the cooler in any orientation on this board because it's really build up. I saw a few pictures of a Z63 that seems to "fit", but I thought they should have the same measurements. Do they? I've read that the board would slow down the PCIE5.0 from x16 to x8 if I use the second M.2 slot. Can somebody confirm that? Is there a significant impact on the performance of a 3080ti? And do all Mini-ITX-boards have this downside when using two or more M.2s? Intels Block-Diagram tells me that this should not be a problem, as long as I connect the second M.2 via the chipset and not directly to the CPU. Little bit of background I am in the process of building a new computer I wanted to try something new by using a RAID 5 setup, but, I am running into some problems for the most part I think I understand how to set it all up through bios but I am having issues figuring out what RAID card to get that best fits my needs been searching around on here for some answers and its kinda all over the place so I figured maybe this is a case by case sort of problem so ill list out what I have so far. First RAID 1/0/10 are not options I don't want to do them even though I understand they are simpler and require less work, I am pushing my self to do a RAID 5 setup. OS: Win 10 Drives: 6x Kingston 120GB A400 SSDs Type of RAID Card: PCIE x8 (no nvme/m.2 pcie) Don't think the rest of the computer matters at this point really just looking for information on what raid card to get; - what's the difference between Controllers and HBA controllers - is there really a need to go full controller over adaptor (maybe this isn't even the right question) - What performance hits will I take going with a lesser brand then over the industry standard brands (LSI vs Intel) - is there any other specifics about raid cards I should consider before buying one that I haven't covered. - what if any software do I need to manage my RAID 5 setup such as in the case if I lose a drive do I need software to rebuild the array. - should I have a raid card with a battery to improve redundancy or is this too cost prohibitive for typical home use. - what exactly is RAID "code" (looks like it has something to do with the algorithm that controls which data goes on what drive but im not 100% sure) and does it even matter for what I am trying to do? - when buying a raid card is ideal to buy 2 of the same card incase one craps out? (see a lot of people ask this question no real answer) - when buying a RAID card is buying used (ebay) considered a bad idea (mostly asking in terms of saving money if possible if I dont need to spend upward of 2000$ that would be nice but if its a must its a must) any help is appreciated thank you very much. edit: been adding some more questions as I am looking for the answers so you may want to refresh every so often if you are considering helping.

So browsing the Newegg I saw an MSI rx550 aero and it said it was PCIe x16 uses x8. This peaked my interest as I have a PowerEdge 2900 with a PCIe x8 slot that could use a discrete graphics card. My original plan had been to cut the end of the slot and have the GC hang out the back. But a plastic shroud turned that from simple fix to a PIA. I didn't want to remove functionality from a card by physically removing those channels but if they aren't electrically connected in the first place, no harm. So the question is are all rx550s using x8? Are there better or cheaper cards that are electronically limited to x8 PCIe? I'm not looking to game on it. Just more Gui than it's designed for. Linux compatibility a plus.

Hello, I've recently updated BIOS to 0802 on ASUS Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC) and GPU seems to have started running at "native x8 link speed." It used to always run PCI-E 3.0 @ x16, but now BIOS, GPU-Z and CPU-Z all show that it runs PCI-E 3.0 @ x8. Running GPU-Z render test or UNIGINE benchmarks doesn't help. It still shows PCI 3.0 @ x8. Clearing CMOS, reseating vid card didn't help. Running BIOS at optimized defaults didn't help. I'm running out of options here. Do you think I "broke" the mobo or vid card somehow or is it the BIOS issue. I hope it's the latter one. PC is only a month old and I had no issues with it until the recent BIOS update from 0505 to 0802. Here are my specs: BIOS: 0802 OC'ed?
