I feel like the PCH on my new MSI board is way too high. I have 2 2tb nvme SSDs a 4070 and a 13600k in it. Is there anything I can do to lower these temperatures? It's a mini itx case so there's no space for extra fans or anything. Thanks for any help.

So in armoury crate i put fans on silent and out of nowhere my pc shut completely off and doesnt get power anymore. I checked thr PSU switch and i think its the psu thars damaged. (If i would get power the mainboard rgb logo and gpu led should be seen.) But it didnt. PSU: Gigabyte GIGABYTE GP-UD1000GM PG5 1000W 80+ Gold Rev 2.0 I bought a new psu and im waiting to look if its truly the problem. I dont think it was a short circuit somwhere because there wss nothing metal touching my pc or something. My Room electricity worked too. What do you guys think could be the reason? Do you think my other components ciuld be damaged too? PC (wizhout psu): - aSUS Rog Strix B760-F WiFi -Geforce RTX 3070ti -Intel i7 12700k -Corsair Veangeance Ram 2x16gb DDR5

I'm looking to at ASUS PRIME B460M-A R2.0. This is the board : https://dlcdnwebimgs.asus.com/gain/16d8a2b2...75f7bb75//fwebp I've RX 570(x16) and wireless adapter(x1). The motherboard have four expansion slots; 1st PCIE X16 - this is full x16 lane and connected TO CPU. 2 x PCIE x1 - BUT i won't/can't be using any of these x1 slots for some reason(s). Bottom PCIE X16(ONLY by length) but operates at x4(even on the picture, it doesn't have full metal pins across it), and connected VIA CHIPSET - i checked the spec from Asus web. Now, if i install the wireless adapter(x1) on the bottom x16 slot, will the first x16 slot operate at full x16 mode OR x8 mode? I was told, in general, if both x16 slots were occupied(usually SLI/dual gpu), each will work at x8 speed only. But in this case, i'm confused since the second slot is at x4 speed and via chipset. So, can anyone explain to me ? *I'm sorry if say wrong things or understand something wrong. It's just a question and i'm not a pro it guy, educate me pls. Thanks in advance.

So... lol... PCH is reaching 86c while gaming. Dunno if its because the GPU heatsing pretty much covers 100% of the fan, either way there´s nothing i can do to change that, even tho the lower slot is a x16 PCIe 3.0, this Colorful RTX 3080 is a behemoth and it wont fit on the lower slot, it will pretty much touch the PSU cover if i use any other slot. Should i be worried about this PCH temps? Usually sits at 60ish idle and goes up to 80-85c when heavy load. PCH fan ramps to 3000+ RPM. Using a Ryzen 7 5800x stock and 32gb DDR4 @3666 on this rig. HALP

So my old pc is a kid from 2013... it's a basic basic thing which I had assembled(not exactly) 'cause I wanted a reliable machine... something that was not as unstable as Vista or 2000 Me... anyways... that dude has a basic h61 chipset motherboard and a stock pentium g2010 processor(I didn't need more than that back then)... I've used two operating systems on that machine... it originally had windows 7 and after about 3 years, I had to replace it with windows 8.1(it was not lookin' good) in 2018, I started experience something strange... the screen(and the cpu and literally everything) would freeze, all at the same time and the screen would show nothing but different colors(such as red, white or blue) and as I Saud before during that time the entire thing would be completely unresponsive...and believe it or not, this happened even at idle.... it was frustrating... so few months back, I asked a computer guy to scrape off the 8.1 and restore it with windows 7 repairing the disastrous freezing thing at the same time... he did as I asked him to... he said that he cleared and restored the bios(that was quite unsuspecting) but I literally didn't see how that could help... and that problem returned once again, creating major instability in my life(that was too drastic) to this day, even though I have a new friend (with i5 10600K), I still need a reliable thing and everyone knows that nothing can be more reliable than an old school windows 7 pc... I think I have explained myself enough... please enlighten me on this matter

Hey guys. I've sent a message to Asus support, but they take ages to reply. My motherboard is "Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha" As you can see in the photo, the PCH and VRM max temperatures are very high (also the VRM min temp is 9'C)! If someone could let me know if they are having the same issue, and / or what you suggest I do? Also if Asus do come back to me and say it's a hardware fault and they want to replace the board, do I have to send the board back to them before they send me a new one? As I really don't want to be without my PC. I have checked and compared the temperature readings across programs and they are the same. (Note: ignore the high core temperatures, I was messing with speedfan. The VRM and PCH issue existed before I was using speedfan)NOTE: Temperatures are in 'C

Hey forum, I'm building a new rig and while doing my research i found i didn't know as much stuff as i thought i did.. I don't know how pcie lanes work.. Soo I watched Linus video on this : PCIe Lanes - PCIe 8x vs 16x in SLI And now i wonder : The 8700k only has 16 PCIe lanes. From what i understand the GPU will use 16x lanes in the best scenario but could use 8x Several questions here : 1. How many CPU/PCH lanes does the mobo have ? And how do you find that number ? 2. Will the M.2 use the PCH lanes ? 3. Does using a 1080ti with only 8x lanes affects its performance? 4. Can I do SLI with two 1080 ti's and an M.2 with this setup? Also, 5. is this M.2 compatible with the mobo, and is it any good ? Hello everyone! I don't really know if I post this in the right section, so correct me if I do it wrong. So, recently I was worrying about my PCH/Chipset temperature in my Legion Y720. Maximum it reached was 93C and the chipset itself when I opened the backplate of the laptop it seemed that it didn't have a heatsink attached to it. Basically it was left open to cool like an M.2 NVMe SSD without a heatsink attached to it. What I decided was to buy a full sized motherboard chipset (38x38mm) and cut it using an electric pendular saw to fit on my chipset (30x30mm). Easily said, but the problem was the following: Upon cutting the heatsink (yes, I was aware to not leave any metal part hanging or touching any electrical parts) the thermal adhesive pad was damaged and no longer able to be used on the chipset. Fortunately, I thought about this before ordering the heatsink and I also bought some thermal pads (0.5mm it seemed to fit perfectly) along with a new thermal adhesive pad to put on the heatsink itself, so it will not move inside the case. I put two little regular thermal pads (these are not adhesive, so they will not hold the chipset in place) near the chipset die to cover a bigger area of cooling, attached the thermal adhesive pad on the heatsink, put the heatsink on the chipset and made sure it was making contact with the die and stuck on the motherboard without touching anything that might have electrical contact. The heatsink itself was a little bigger than the space in the case, so the backplate will also put a little pressure on it to not slip anywhere. Put the screws back, fired up the system, and voila! The system was working as expected, temps dropped (idle temps was around 65-70C, now they are 50-55C, lowest was 47C), but now I have another problem that I hadn't found the answer to it: Those thermal pads (both adhesive and regular), what is their maximum operating temperature? I don't want to suddenly my laptop catch fire because I was stupid and didn't thought that a big temperature can set them on fire. I doubt they will, but now I'm a little paranoid. So I'm asking the community what do you think? Should I remove it and leave it as it is? Is there any chance for the thermal pads to catch fire? What should I do?

Eyo people, I have another question for you guys. I have tried to find an answer for this for a long time but whenever I find someone else asking it, it ends up describing which device uses which of the two. For the purpose of the question, assume I buy a x299 board from Asus and want to use 2/3 M.2 NVMe drives and use 1 GPU (1080Ti). Assuming I get a 7820x with 28 pcie lanes on the cpu and it has 'up to' 44 lanes on the chipset of the x299 board. The reason I want to use an all M.2 build is that I like the speed of them and want to get rid of the bigger drives in the case. I don't like seeing drive cages or ssd trays in my case. I probably won't use any RAID configs and won't be benchmarking the M.2 drives non-stop, so the heat won't be a problem as well. The real question: If I use it like that, do all the M.2 drives use the CPU lanes? And if not, does the performance really matter between CPU/PCH lanes? If there is a difference, is it even noticeable if you don't have your pc constantly moving files back and forth? I will probably use most USB ports and wired ethernet, but no SATA ports for drives if that helps determining any bandwidth bottlenecks.

So ive bin getting Usage/lagg/and frame spikez when gaming. this issue started lately and seems to only come in to play after having gamed for a little while. could the pch be temp throtteling? as it seems to be the hottest mobo heatsink atm sitting at 62-64'c under load

I was looking at my temps today and noticed that my GPU and PCH temps are higher than the rest of my system. The rest of my system sits at about 35 Deg C while my PCH and GPU are at 60 C. What is a good way to lower these temps (besides raising fan speed on GPU). GPU is a PNY GTX 670. Side note - Can someone tell me what the PCH is and why it would have a higher temp than the rest of my sytem?

This problem occurred when I updated my bios from one version to a more recent one at the time not realising that this would wipe my bios settings as the times before it did not or I didn't notice, but this time I had 2 850 pros running in raid 0 for a boot drive. When the bios finished updating wiping the bios data it then tired to boot off the raid array with out the raid mode selected, so iIlost all my data and know this code keeps sparring. Hi guys and girls I am overclocking 5820K (core= 4.2GHZ 1.153125V cache= 4.0GHz 1.115625V) quite successfully with NH-D15, temps are super low and processor is super stable, at least 12h-100% stability with AIDA64, the thing never caps out beyond 65 degrees. I just have these inconsistent spikes and drops (PCH and VRM) that I like to know if they mean anything at all. All comments meant to help will be appreciated!

PCGHX (german enthusiast community) member der8auer managed to mod the latest Haswell-E cpus to allow for potentially higher and more stable uncore clocks. Similar to the Asus OC Socket it has to do with the socket pinout. He's differentiating two versions of the mod, the "lazy" and the "plus" method. Doing the "lazy" version two pins are beeing soldered together, where the OC socked delivers additional voltage. The "plus" method is a slightly more advanced version, where a wire is connected to those two pins allowing for manual voltage control and input, similar to the EVGA Evbot for gpus.
