My bank is such a headache when it comes to paying for things internationally since they often declines the payments, even though I have my card set to accept worldwide payments and also set to allow all internet purchases. Unfortunately, not all sites support PayPal. Didn’t LTT have a sponsor for generating virtual credit cards? Any ideas?

Summary The restaurant payment processing company Toast has now started adding a 99 cent charge to all charges over $10 that are processed by the payment processor. This appears as a 99 cent Processing Fee on the receipt that the restaurant hands to the guest. Locations that are taxed on meals will also be expected to pay taxes on the 99 cent charge as well that Toast pulls straight from their account. The 99 cent charge is supposed to be used for research and development. All of this started after partnering with Google, it was trialed the past few months and went in to affect on Monday at any location that uses Toast. Quotes My thoughts The unfortunate bit about all of this is that Toast/Strip/Braintree/<payment processor> has these businesses by the short and curlies. It is very difficult to replace a payment processor. Not to mention a payment processor that also provides your POS and probably inventory management too. This is going to hurt those small businesses as the only way to stop this is to not use any business that uses Toast until Toast/Google relents and backs off this 99 cent charge that is going to cause problems for their real customers (the businesses). I wouldn't be surprised also that in some jurisdictions that this might be completely illegal as the guest wasn't made aware of this before siting down to eat or placing their order. Hopefully the FTC will step in and tell them to knock it off. Dear Floatplane team, I would love if you would enable subscriptions through App Store on iOS. Yes, I understand that you would have to add 30% on top of your regular price to compensate for Apple’s cut, but that’s okay. Here in Sweden they’ve changed the laws/rules so that nowadays my payment card expires every year instead of every fourth year. When you have a busy life and have 20+ subscriptions, running around and updating the card everywhere is not reasonable. Having all subscriptions through App Store therefore provides a peach of mind and a less stressful life. Giving users more payment options is (probably) always a good thing. Thank you for reading my suggestion, I appreciate you and look forward to future Floatplane updates. Best Regards, Filip

Hi, So I am looking for help with an auto-renewal issue I got. 2 years ago I got a key / trial (can't really remember the specifics due to it being 2 years ago) for Bitdefender antivirus. I hardly used it because I didn't like the massive system usage it took, and I knew I was careful enough on the internet that it wasn't a necessity for me. Anyways, I just forgot about it. A couple days ago, I got a PayPal notification saying a charge of £54 was authorised, my first immediate thought was has my PayPal been breached; has someone used my account to buy something? When I checked my email I finally found what it was, apparently I signed up for a Bitdefender autorenewal and that has kicked in and charged me. That sucks, I'm normally good with autorenewal traps, if I'm signing up for a software trial or whatever, I usually set a calender reminder for me to cancel the subscription before it charges me, but this one must've slipped through the cracks. Anyways, £54 is a lot of money for me, I'm a student who's really tight for money as it is - so I contacted Bitdefender support to ask for a refund and cancellation on my account. I got a reply in a couple of days time, basically saying all they can offer me is either a longer subscription or 60% partial refund. I don't want either, I just want my money back for a product I wasn't aware I was purchasing. What is my next move guys ? I have attached screenshots of the support email (I haven't replied yet). Do I reply standing my ground saying what offered is not acceptable? Do I threaten their support with going a legal route if the don't comply? Do I contact my bank and try and get a chargeback ? This has never happened to me before and I don't really know where I stand legally, I feel I've been scammed even though I know I must of signed a T&C for this. Why is it so hard for a company to give you money back from a mistake ? I feel like I've been robbed. Anyways, I really appreciate any support you guys give, I'm just super stuck right now and looking for advice. Thank you

Hey, I want to buy an LTT Floatplane club subscription. PayPal doesn't wish to have me as a customer thus I'm not able to pay through PayPal. I've been snatching the LTT Floatplane videos from the interwebs for a good while now out of necessity but I do want to contribute. I'll be making payment in Bitcoin. Please can any staff send me a PM with payment information (Bitcoin address + price (i.e. $29.99)) and I'll be sure to make payment at my earliest convenience.

I booked a flight with Ryanair a week ago but they haven't charged my credit card and I checked it says the flight is ok. Will they charge right before the flight or something like that? I also booked return from easyjet and they charged

Hey there, I hate to annoy you guys with this, but it really gets me that I am unable to give my money to LMG over the forum. In Germany PayPal doesn't allow the kind of subscription you are using, Patreon isn't a problem though. Maybe you could change the subscription settings or just add a single payment 1 year version If it is more work for you guys, just make it more expensive.

okay, so i personally dont really want this to become a widespread thing anytime soon, as cool and exciting as it is the chance of error (as low as they may claim it to me) is just too much for me, however, as this technology got perfected i would slowly be more comfortable with it. but also the cost of implementing a system would be insane. not just getting the costs for the stand that scan your face, but also the database that hgolds the information where the faces are mathed with the bank accounts, but then also holding such nformation is so important to keep safe, there are s many ethical and social issues as well as technological hardware and software plannning that needs to go in place for widespread adoption i dont know, maybe i am exaturatting im not against it, but i dont want to to be adopted by the likes of Woolworths or coles (massive australian food stores cuz i live in australia, they are the equvalent of wallmart) what do you guys think? https://www.engadget.com/2017/09/03/alipay-facial-recognition-payments/

Hi, I have recently got a new cad and I need to change my payment info for my Floatplane club subscription. Does anyone know how i can do this - I have looked around but I can't seem to find a way! Cheers UPDATE - PAYPAL

I would like to know why a Paypal account is required for Floatplane? I understand the reasons for using Paypal as a payment system, instead of just allowing for payment using debit/credit directly, but it is very inconvenient that an actual account must be made. Often, you can use paypal to checkout without an account by checking out as a guest. I believe the reason that this is not available is because Floatplane is a subscription based purchase, and you cannot do subscriptions with a paypal guest checkout. If you were to offer the yearly purchase of Floatplane as a one-time purchase, I believe the option to checkout as guest would appear. I highly encourage you to consider this. Offering the onetime payment would not pose any logistical, financial, or otherwise difficult problem for you as far as I can see. As long as the purchase isn't a subscription, enabling guest checkout should be as easy as this: Thank you.

Alright so I have been trading on CSGO for quite a while ... I've gotten from 30$ to about 200$ and i decided to cash it all out on paypal .... after some minor purchases either on steam or some other games i'm left with about 150$ I want to buy a mechanical keyboard called MOTOSPEED ck104 infilictor because of it's price, looks, reviews and basically because it's mechanical and my cheap membrane is wearing off pretty quicky with some letters dissapearing. I have 150$ on a non-verified paypal ( i don't have it verified because i don't have a credit card because I'm only 17 ). Is there a way around to buy that keyboard ( and yes I found it ) on Amazon instead of forcing myself to buy from highly unreputable site Gearbest ( shipping time is like 60 days and they say it's 30 ) ... I can not buy gift cards because as far as I know you can't do it in Europe. I way thinking of buying it from Ebay, it is high shipping time but still lower than 60 days but it's out of stock for now at least the last time i checked. Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I'm a new member and therefore I don't know if I'm doing this right, but I would like to offer the suggestion to add a payment platform to floatplane. The reason for this suggestion is that I do not wish to use paypal, ever, and that a credit card at my current bank would cost me more than floatplane would, and I would not have any other use for it... I am located in Germany, and I would love to see PaySafeCard as a payment option for floatplane. This would also require a wallet feature on the floatplane side, and I don't know how that works legally or financially for you, so I can totally see how that would not be immediately possible, if at all. Edit: another way that could work would be if the lttstore sold "credit" for floatplane, so I can ask someone with a CC to do it for me once a year or even less often; and pay them back in cash. Anyway, if it is simple for you, it would make things a lot easier for me; and I suppose I'm not the only one.

Disclaimer: I am Doing this as I have not gotten help from any other method I have tried I got charged multiple times for floatplane and when I discovered this I sent a email to the floatplane help email and then four days latter I still have no reply. Considering that this issue involves payment and is not just a bug, this is unacceptable. If anyone has a connection to one of the floatplane staff that could help me out that would be great.

Does anyone know if the option to pay the full $30 for Floatplane all at once is still an option or has that been removed? Just wanted to know if there's anything other than paying $2.99 each month.

Hope It doesn't cut into my profits. Wonder if eBay is gonna push PayPal to the side eventually. I'd link an article but there are none yet.

Does anyone recall a sponsor ad during a recent video on LinusTechTips for a masked credit card payment service, like Final? I think there was some promotional deal through Linus, but I haven't been able to find the video with the sponsor ad again. Thanks, all.

Last week I purchased a Fujifilm XT-3 camera on amazon. The total for the camera is just over my credit card limit, so I used amazon gift cards to pay for it. ($1820 in gift cards from my local kroger grocery store). Amazon has yet to ship it out because they need to do a "Payment verification" , and they say it will take 12 hours, but it has already been a week. If there is a problem with it they wont tell me, and I am so frustrated with them. Does anyone else know about this? Or can clear it up on what I should do?

Ok well I do have a paypal and it does have €13.00 but it will not let me purchase unless I have a credit card or bank accaunt. It says: "To complete this payment, add a debit or credit card to your PayPal account. Your card will not be charged unless the transaction amount exceeds your balance." I dont have a credit card or bank accaunt, but I do have money in my paypal to spend. Is there any way I can still purchase without Credit/Debit card and Bank Accaunt ?

Rooting the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge will disable Samsung Pay
Victorious Secret posted a topic in Tech News
Go Samsung Go? I can see why this might happen for Samsung. Rooting can give access to things you shouldn't otherwise have access too, can lead to all sorts of security headaches, maybe to preserve the secure nature of their payment system they opted to brick it in the event you root. Don't know if I really agree with that, then again you don't own the software you get on those phones and Samsung is entirely allowed to do what they want on that end. C'est la vie, I guess. http://www.sammobile.com/2015/04/21/thinking-of-rooting-your-galaxy-s6-or-s6-edge-dont-or-youll-lose-this-important-feature/
