I already have a killer gaming pc. That's not what this is about. I have an old pavilion with a bunch of ssd's that I use as home media server and bedroom streaming/mkv, mp4...playback. It has the holly 2 board in it, an A8-3870k and PCIE 2.0. The problem is that I can't playback 2160p codex. So, I bought a pny geforce gt 710. It appeared to be the fastest pci 2.0 I could find. While it kind of worked, booting was horrible. Especially the first couple times. The first time, I thought I bricked it. It killed my screen saver even after ddu all the nvidia software. When it did work it still wouldn't playback 2160. Any thoughts? Should I get something different? The box says 2020 on it so I don't think it's been sitting around since they first came out. I found online that the 700 series started in 2013. I went to nvidias site to get the driver. Pretty sure I had the right one. You put in what you have, and it tells you what you need. But maybe it wasn't right. I don't have a clue.

I have a question about which laptop to chose. I have to be honest my budget is really tight and I really cant squeeze more money to it. So basically there are three laptops in my region that i feel are ok. I need laptop for casual gaming but also programing and school so build quality is kinda important I guess. I have three options: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ARH05 Ryzen 5 4600H 8GB DDR4 512GB SSD nVidia GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 250nits Anti-glare 120Hz PRICE: 710,18 EUR HP Pavilion Laptop15-ec1007nm-1U6B3EA AMD Ryzen 5 4600H 8 GB DDR4 512 GB SSD nVidia GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 15,6 " FHD SVA anti-glare, micro-edge WLED-backlit 1920 x 1080 px 60Hz PRICE: 815 EUR Lenovo Legion Y540 81SY00CQHV Notebook Core® i5-9300HFProcessor 8 GB DDR4 1 TB HDD + 512 GB SSD nVidia GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 15.6 "Display typeFHD LED, IPS panel, AntiglareDisplay resolution1920 x 1080 Pixel 60Hz PRICE: 814,77 EUR I heard that Legion has much better build quality but Gaming 3 is much cheaper so yeah im leaning towards the Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 Thank you

My fathers desktop pc recently stopped working and he wasn't able to fix it and neither was I. Unfortunately we aren't very familiar with all the factors of what makes a good desktop pc and so I wanted to ask for him if these two pre-build desktop PCs are good value for the money relative to his usage. HP Pavilion Desktop M01-F1108ng B-Ware HP Pavilion Gaming DesktopTG01-2008ng, Gaming-PC He used his PC for all basic things but mostly home office and gaming. For home office he is not in need of a lot of processing power. In terms of gaming it's a mixed bag but I don't think he needs too much power either because the game he plays the most is World of Warcraft though occasionly he would play something else like subnautica or control. Visual fidelity isn't as important as performance for him. For the budget he told me that he would like to keep it between 700 and 1000 euros. Also incase it is important somehow we are from germany. If you could help him find a good pre-build desktop or verify if the two presented ones are good value relative to its price it would be wonderful because I want to protect him from paying too much for something less valuable. Thank you for your input in advance.

Hello, I have an Hp Pavilion 16 Gaming laptop. 10th Gen i5 10300h Gtx 1650 4 gb 16 gb DDR4 256gb m.2 1tb sata SSD Bios F.23 (AMI) The laptop is just 1 year old, I upgraded it to Windows 11 And it started running warmer than usual after a Windows Bios Update, I made sure everything was super clean, and I re pasted the CPU and GPU also using new thermal pads, I used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut,, ok it idles as 38-40 Celsius, I tried to do a stress test for 1 min and it immediately went up to 99C thermal throttled and Power Limit Throttle, when I’m doing basic things, it runs around 75-83C,, When I game it runs about 85C but spikes to 99C often and thermal throttles,, I don’t understand why I have done the paste and pads 3 different times, the fans won’t kick on until it’s already throttling, IDK what’s goin on but it has became a nightmare,, it never done this before Windows 11 and the windows bios update, and I have Reset it back to Windows 10, fresh install, Still same results.

Hello, my hp pavilion 14 x360 has always been unreliable when it comes to performance, but lately i've started investigating and I really can't find an answer for that. I'll refer to Rocket League as it's the game i play the most. With only the game open, it gets 110-120fps stable and easily on 1080p, but as soon as something else is running (like discord or spotify), the performance is really capped, with stuttering as low as 20fps, but generally stable around 50 to 80. I've always thought it was the MX250 gpu's fault, but I realized that when underperforming, the gpu starts running at 30 to 60%, instead of the 100% it gets when performing fully. It doesn't seem to be a RAM problem, as the 16gb are far from full. The cpu, instead, caps it's performance heavily, with extremely low usage and clock speed (as low as 0.5ghz, while under lighter load it stays usually between 2.5 and 3.5). Checking out windows' built in resource monitor (resmon) you can see that the max speed is much lower under load, as if it was throttling, but at the same time, checking HWMonitor, the temps are around 70C, or in general lower that it's supposed ceiling, and i don't think it's a power usage problem, as the cpu is perfectly capable of running at it's max speed, while respecting it's TDP. Obviously this problem applies to a degree to any usage of the PC, not just gaming, as it starts struggling at quite random times (even opening a single app like discord, or the file manager) sometimes it seems like the CPU doesn't understand when to be ready lol (idk what im talking about clearly). Sometimes i get to play somewhat smoothly even with discord open, if i wait a couple of minutes it seems like the cpu understands how to manage the load and it goes of fine, but sometimes it doesn't. I think the solution might be undervolting, but I have no idea why, because i can't understand the problem, and sadly voltage control is locked on this machine and i can't tweak any of that. I can't really find similar threads online, i'll provide more data if someone asks and knows where to look, because i really don't know what to look for except what i've posted (these are some , thanks in advance. resource monitor when switching to a heavier load, the cpu heeeavily throttles: HWMonitor under load, some of these values (VID, core usages) randomly swing between max and min, idk

So my friend gave me her laptop to look at as it was running slow etc... But she also mentioned a problem that occurs on startup. The Laptop boots into windows 10 fine without any errors, but when it gets to the log in screen it just flashes for ages (10-20 minutes) in which time you can't click, type or anything, you just need to wait for it to stop. I've looked around and the closest problem I can see is when people were having a similar issue, but it was occurring on the desktop not on the login screen. Wondered if anyone knows of this error/has experience in fixing it. Cheers. In the process of upload a video to attach. EDIT: This is a quick video to show the problem. According to my friend it just started happening out of the blue one day. No updates seem to have caused the issue (apparently).

Hello artisans, I bought my PAVILION 15 BC015TX last year,it`s the non-touch one. To get a better useing efficient, I want to change my non-touch display to the touch display. And I checked the official website and find it possible to make it as there`s another version which has the touch display. I got the HP official Maintenance and Service Guide and I think I got the spare part number of those things. Where can I buy these things on the list? Or where there`s a searching system of those part number? (Maybe I can know about its model number from the system??) I`m going to do it myself or if it`s too hard to do , where can I find the skillful people to help?? Many thanks!!

Hi all! I have the chance to get a HP Pavilion 14-ce0012nw at a fairly nice price (430 usd when converted from pln). The problem is that there are really very few reviews of this laptop anywhere. Does anyone have any first hand expierience with this one? I am especially interested in the battery life, as well as keyboard and trackpad performance. This is the exact spec in question: https://www.x-kom.pl/p/447068-notebook-laptop-141-hp-pavilion-14-i5-8250u-16gb-256pcie-w10-ips-burgundy.html#Specyfikacja (Sorry for the polish link but I can't seem to find this exact configuration on any english site) Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello,I wanted to ask for the some opinion's since right now I'm thinking of buying a HP Pavilion since it's pretty cheap and has the green variant witch I f love while being well aware of the fact that it has the cooling capabilities of an oven +the fact that HP had the "ingenious idea" to not allow for fan speed control, but i love to tinker with my gadgets and I was hoping that by going with an i5 8300h +1060 3gb and changing the thermal paste +undervolting maybe this can really be a great long therm (insert here a think that makes you happy). Or I guess I could be smart and wait for the 2019 models to create a reduction in price for better 2018 model's. Ty in advance for your help.

Hey y'all, I want to put an SSD into my laptop to give it a speed boost and make it last a little longer. My laptop model is the HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab292nr. I'm not worried about the installation process, as I've already taken my laptop apart and seen that it would fit in the same space as the current hard drive, but I'm worried about compatibility. I tried temporarily putting my boot SSD into the laptop, but it didn't work. I think it said something about it not being compatible or approved HP hardware or something like that. I'm not sure exactly, as this was a while ago. I have a theory that reinstalling windows with HP recovery would fix the problem, but I don't want to wipe that drive. That drive was a Inland Professional 240GB SSD. Does anyone know of any compatibility issues that HP laptops have? If so, what brand of SSD would I need to buy to make it work? Thanks -S

So, I bought a brand new laptop (HP Pavilion 15-c0053cl) SPECS: i5 8th Gen/12GB RAM/1TB HDD/Win 10 This is pretty good. But for some reason the startup is a nightmare it lags soooooo much. The apps work fine afterwards. I have tried disabling as many startup apps I can leaving only the necessary once Enabled. The startup utilization is also not high(RAM 15 to 20%). Does anyone know anything about this ? Help.

Hi, I'm experiencing a problem with my laptop. It won't boot. It is also making a subtle ticking noise. I suspect the HDD In English it says that a requested device isn't connected with the corresponding errorcode. I did some tests and it detected a HDD failure. I tried to search for the failure ID but I couldn't find anything. I hope you guys can tell me what's going on.

I have hp pavilion notebook with i5 8th gen processor(8300 H), 8 GB ram with 128 GB SSD and NVIDIA GTX 1050. So it sucks at gaming and can not even produce 60 frames in most of the modern games in 1080p. Is there any way that i can upgrade graphic card to GTX 1650 or any other better graphic card without buying a new laptop.

So I bought used gaming laptop and it's cpu is underperforming while under load. I have i5 8300h and if I open up any game or stresser, the speed sticks to 0.8GHZ and sometimes goes up to 1.1GHZ after some time. If I'm just browsing it works perfectly fine, reaches it's turbo boost clock speed 3.6GHZ some times. I opened up intel XTU and it said that my cpu is power throttling and sometimes shows that it's also curent/EDP throttling. Laptop that I have is Hp pavilion 15 gaming 15-cx0001na with no upgrades made to it.

Hello. I have an HP Pavilion 11 laptop that I got from a friend for free. It worked when they gave it to me, but after taking the bottom cover off of it ONCE to see the battery life (I don't normally have internet), it no longer boots. The power button just lights up for a short while, no fans spin, no screen light, nothing, and then the light turns off. I would like to see if this is fixable because I don't have the money to pay for someone else to do it, and I need this laptop because of the recent world crisis and my school system is making us do our classes digitally. This is a video of me demonstrating what exactly it does: It should be running Windows 10, 64-bit. It has a Pentium processor, but I do not remember which one. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Video . So my hp laptop refuses to turn on. The power button light turns on, when clicked, but nothing comes on screen and suddenly turns off. But the funny thing is that when ever I take it to the shop to get it fixed it works fine, this happened 5 times, each time I take it to the shop laptop turns on and works fine. This started happening after I opened the lap to clean it. I said to the repair guys that I did open it up, but they said they couldn't find any loose contacts. Somebody pls help me as I have my engineering finals this month and all my notes and project report is on my laptop.

I have a strange problem with the battery in the HP Pavilion dv6500 laptop. Some days ago I got dv6700 with a damaged BGA so that I could descrew for fun. I noticed that there is a battery in it. So I put it into my DV6500. And here the problems began. Under linux, I normally charged it to around 70%. The next day, when I turned on the laptop, I had only 12%, where after a while there was an alert about low battery status. Now, when I started to test the battery under Windows, it loads very long and very strange. The program for monitoring the battery status says that the battery "disconnects" from charging every minute and starts charging again. Currently, about 7% charged for an hour and I do not know what may be the reason for such a slow charging. In addition, the same program claims that the battery has not been charged (battery cycle). I am adding 2 information screens, maybe it will give something. (battery is original)
