Disclaimers: I'm still learning. I can be wrong. This is not financial or legal advice, just me explaining what I've learned thus far. YMMV, but I'm not responsible for anything this knowledge is used for. All numbers are arbitrary, but somewhat realistic examples. It's confusing. I know. Tis life. I tried my best to explain it accurately. Concise is not something I do unless forced. So I've been learning stock trading basics for a while (terms, patterns, concepts, etc.), and I've been practicing along the way. Unfortunately, my program that I use resets sometimes (randomly) so I can't keep a running total of money lost/earned in this practice. Here is a picture of the program: Currently, I've lost 17% of my (paper, fake, monopoly) money, but this is a long play and I expected something different to happen (the huge dip in the DJIA was unexpected and threw me off). I should start making money Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of next week on this setup. To kind of help you read the above image, the top left is my totals. They give you $200,000 of paper money to invest, but $100,000 is for one type of trading and the other $100,000 is for the other type of trading. So it's more like I have $100,000 since I only trade with one half of it. Net Liq & Day Trades is what I use, and I don't "do" Day Trading. Right now anyway. I'm keeping an eye on Abbott and Tesla for reasons. I didn't straight up buy stock in either company. I purchased a Put for Abbott and a Call for Tesla. This means I make money if Tesla goes up and if Abbott goes down. Unfortunately, the opposite happened, so I lost like 30%, but it's reversing now. The bottom row of charts is the Weekly charts for Abbott, Tesla, & the Dow Jones Industrial Average (average of the an entire market's performance, not THE market, but A market). The top row is the daily chart for those things. But yeah. Still learning. I was really bummed out that the program reset on me. I had doubled my money on a stock going up $1 by selling Puts (literally, I had $100,000 worth of Puts and after I sold them, I had $200,000+). It was very lucky that the stock moved so strongly, but I knew it would go up. Options are Calls & Puts (There may be more, but I've only learned about these). The easiest analogy I've found to understand them is thus: Calls are Coupons on a stock price. i.e. If I buy a call for TSLA (Tesla) at $250, I have a coupon giving me the right to buy TSLA's stock at $250, no matter what the price currently is. Puts are Price Guarantees on a stock price. i.e. If I buy a put for TSLA at $250, I have a price guarantee that I can sell TSLA's stock at $250, no matter what the price currently is. So Calls are for buying stock, and Puts are for selling stock. If you are wondering how they make money doing that, if I buy a Call for TSLA at $250, but their current Stock Price is $255.50, I will pay $5.50 per Call. Then I will pay $250 per share of stock. So they still get the full price, at the time I purchased the Call, of the stock. However, Calls & Puts can expire. Just like normal Coupons and Price Guarantees. If I buy either of them, but I never buy or sell the stock, I lost money, but not a lot of money (what is $5.50?) That's one way the companies themselves make money on Options. What a Call & Put give you is time. If you think a stock is going up, you can buy a Call (Coupon) to buy that stock at, say $250, but then wait until it hits $300 to buy it at $250. So you know for a fact you are going to profit. Or you can let the Call expire because the stock dropped to $200 and you were wrong about it going up. So buying it at $250 would be stupid as it's currently $200. Options are just that. Options. They buy you time to think about whether you want to buy/sell the stock or not. Just for reference, here is how you make money buying & selling options (Calls & Puts): Buy Calls = You make money if the stock goes up - Because you have a coupon that says you can buy the stock at $250, if the stock goes to $300, you buy it cheaper than it currently is, then sell it for a profit. Buy Puts = You make money if the stock goes down - Because you have a price guarantee that says you can sell the stock at $250, if the stock goes to $200, you can sell it for more than it currently is. Sell Calls = You make money if the stock goes down - I'm still trying to understand why and how this works. It's complicated because you are selling someone else or a company the right to sell stock to you at $250 or wtv. Sell Puts = You make money if the stock goes up - I'm still trying to understand why and how this works. It's complicated because you are selling someone else or a company the right to buy stock from you at $250 or wtv. What each scenario does is it basically decides how much money you can profit or lose in the trade. i.e. if I sell a Put, my maximum profit is capped at 100% (double my money), but my maximum loss is infinite (I lose all of my money). However, the reason you would want to sell a Put is because you sold something. You immediately get paid for it, but the amount is small. And it's very likely you will profit, and very unlikely you will lose all your money. These are the things to consider when doing a trade with options: Profit potential (i.e. max profit is 100%, infinite, or what-have-you) Loss Potential (i.e. 100% AKA infinite, or what-have-you) Probability of both of those happening (i.e. odds of profit vs odds of loss) Each of those choices above (Buy Calls, Buy Puts, Sell Calls & Sell Puts) have different values for how much you can earn/lose and what the odds of each thing happening are. That's generally what I've learned so far. This is just practice mode, I'll give an update when I move to real money mode.

Hi So I have a HP Pavillion Power 15-cb060sa, but it only has a 1TB HDD which I intend on supplementing with a M.2 as a boot drive. Which M2 is compatible? (I think it's PCIe, not a 100%, so NVMe should work right? Will a SATA work in the same slot?) Thanks in advance

Hey Guys, I work in a corporate enviroment, we have 2700 people in the office... so we use quite a lot of paper. There is a project im currently leading to reduce paper waste and generaly increase awaraness etc in the office. Except the obvious stuff like locked printing etc i would like to introduce something.. you know, catchy. Maybe some contests even. I'm currently searching for some innovative ideas.. lets call it a non boring approach to the topic. Do you mind sharing some of yours if you happen to know? Like you know.. sometimes you can find those gifs with futuristic solutions to problems, like the robot collecting plastic from the seas etc... Maybe we can make some sort of brainstorm out of it? Anything is welcomed :)

I've been having issues with my servers just freezing (talking VelocityProxy and Minecraft (Paper)). I think that this is due to the IPv6 interface restarting. It looks like Velocity listens on IPv6, and around the error time the IPv6 interface restarts. This issue occurs every 1-2 days, randomly. Hello. So, I've wondered and been thinking, will there still be use of paper (made out of tree or atleast related to such) or will majority change over to digital use of information. Will books still be used in say, fifty years from now, if so, will they still use tree or wheat to craft paper or will they come up with something new more eco-friendly, as a super thing paper-like plastic thingy or something else? Mass produce of silk maybe? Not sure if that effects enviroment as much as tree, but would be lot more expensive. Thinking and seeing through sci-fi movies and so forth and theroies. But what do I know. Myself just prefer books over use of tablet, even when drawing I prefer pencil over the Wacom Intous that I have due to still being new to use the digital art of things!

Sorry if it's on the wrong section, but it's kind of a peripheral right :D... So i got a brother MFC-J5910DW and it says that paper is jammed. However, i see the rollers inside of the printer pushing the paper the wrong side out. So the rollers wiggle to get the stuck parts loose, and then it rolls backwards and make this awefull, not-intended sound that it never made before. I cleaned it multiple times now, so there's no paper jammed, but it still keeps on rolling backwards. ANY HELP PLEASE, I NEED TO PRINT STUFFS

What happens when you use plain paper on Photo paper print settings? Has anyone else tried this? it produces better albeit slower results than telling the printer youre using normal paper on Best setting, however im worried that this would damage the printer overtime and I don't know if it's viable in the long term.

I met with their Lead Sales (they sell 3d modelling and tours that they make on the platform to the cities and districts) and I then talked with him about Oculus Rift which was still on it's kickstarter campaign and also the Virtuix Omni, they can create entire virtual tours of cities! This is really cool now, but in 5 to 10 years, it'll be amazing with the kind of graphics power and computer imaging advances that are coming! we have a lot of innovation going on and lots of start-ups getting funded and amazing creative people and it just makes me proud to be Portuguese! We've been struggling a lot but it seems like we're going to be just fine :3

So for school I had to write a long paper about Bitcoin, (like 3500-4000) words, I interviews two major economists, but I won't put the whole thing here, just like a TL;DR. The basic point is that Bitcoin has a price but no value, and will eventually crash. Essentially, Bitcoin is a new currency, so it is rivaling the US Dollar, Euro etc, the largest market in the world. It is not trying to beat PayPal, or MasterCard or whatever, it is trying to be better than the US dollar and therefore has the most competition and most barriers to entry. Since, Bitcoin is not a national currency, there is no-one who is backing this currency (this is clear when we see examples of fraud, theft etc and there is no compensation). Moreover, unlike the dollar which has the US government producing goods and a physical and known representative who can be held accountable, Bitcoin is trusting in 'Satoshi Nakamoto'. He could cheat, give himself several hundred Bitcoins and make a HUGE profit, we have no way of stopping him, other than 'trust'. Secondly, since Bitcoin is not the currency of a country, we have no way of knowing the relative price of basket of goods. (IE one way of comparing goods is the 'big mac index' how much does it cost to buy a big mac). Or how much it costs to buy 100 of a certain goods, except that with Bitcoin, there is no central OFFICIAL market and therefore any relative price of Bitcoin is exactly that, RELATIVE. It is whatever that individual believes the price SHOULD be. Since there price is so volatile it makes value hard to put down exactly. Value is knowing that today $100 is worth the same $100 tomorrow! Thirdly, one of the prime features of Bitcoin is that it has no Central Bank, this is not exactly true, every currency which distributes money, has a central bank! A Central Bank has two main roles: 1) To control the flow of money into the economy 2) To facilitate transactions Bitcoin has chosen to completely ignore one it's responsibilities, this is not appropriate, would we allow a parent to be like meh, I'm not feeding my kid, but i'll do everything else I am supposed to? NO! This choice of ignoring to control the flow is irresponsible because it means that the price is more volatile, and therefore harder to use as a currency in stores. What I mean by this is that if a storekeeper knows that the value of Bitcoin changes by $20 every day, they are going to be wary of accepting as payment because they do not know if they are being ripped off (if the price went down) or are ripping customers off (if the price increased)! The sheer amount of time it would require to keep up to date with all of this would cause massive problems, with business who barely have enough time to do what they are required to do. Moreover, by keeping the money supply fixed (not fixed rate, but fixed as in cannot be changed) it means that unpredicted increases or decreases in number of users leads to shortages or surpluses. Which, in the worse case scenario of each, leads to hoarding which drops the price to 0. Lastly, going back to the second role of the Central Bank, Bitcoin attempts to be anonymous, however, there are several key flaws as I see with this. First of all, all transactions are logged and remembered, yet why? If they refuse to return money after theft and fraud, why is there a PUBLIC record of all transactions... Furthermore, the recent shutting down of the 'Silk Road' (run by 'Dread Pirates Roberts') shows that the anonymity is not perfect since both his, and also the federal government's (several hours after the seizing of all Silk Road assets) Bitcoin wallets and location were found. Not even the largest government in the world could be anonymous, what chance do the rest of us have? In conclusion, I believe that Bitcoin will fall because it has no inherent value, no goods that it creates and decides the value of, the price is arbitrary. Moreover, the volatility of the currency causes the price to fluctuate which means that the value of Bitcoin is hard to pin down, and therefore does not have one. Moreover, the Bitcoin ideal has failed, as I believe it will crash soon under the egotism of users, and the failure of it to keep to its core principles. so i really want to put my 212x on but i couldnt find any isopropyl alcohol at the chemist so is it ok just to use some toilet paper on its own? i also dont think i have a micro fibre cloth

To finish off at my school in Switzerland, I have to write a final paper. I have decided to do it on Encryption and how it works. In addition to the paper itself I would like to create some program, app or something. That's were I need your help, I have had some vague ideas but non of them were really convincing.
