So I've been doing a good amount of research, as I'm looking to buy a 144hz monitor, not too cheap, but also not burning my bank. I've pretty much settled on this one monitor, the Asus TUF VG249Q. The one thing that's been worrying me is that it's ips display. Now, obviously it advertises 1ms response time, but I can't remember how many times people say IPS has super slow response times compared to TN. Is it really that bad? Or am I overthinking. And as a side note, how does the monitor pair up against the VG24VQ. Pretty much the same monitor, but with a VA panel. I appreciate anything!

Hi, I'm new to forums so hopefully this is the right topic to put it in. I'm currently seeking advice on how to sound proof my room using foam panels of some sort. I have no experience whatsoever when it comes to sound proofing. I'd like to keep my voice in my room and not let it exit out of my room. I play GTA FiveM Roleplay and sometimes it can get pretty loud, and I'm also looking to get into streaming soon and it would make life a lot easier if I could stop my voice from travelling outside my pc room. Any help with this is highly appreciated, I have provided some photos of my room from different angles. I live in Australia, and I'd prefer to keep my budget under 200AUD. Thank you!

I recently took apart a HP-G71 Laptop and parted it out. I decided to make a DIY display and purchased a controller off of Amazon. Turns out that the panel on the laptop is dead but the controller works fine. (I tested the controller with a display from a Samsung NP365E5C laptop.) However, while the HP display is supported by the controller, the B156XTN02.1 Display on the Samsung is not. As a result the panel has 4 copies of what is being displayed with some being cut off. Long story short I'm looking for a supported panel and want to know if there is a way to look up old laptops by the type of panel they have. I can buy the old panels but they are too expensive to warrant buying. I'm looking for used or broken laptops I can take the screen out of. Hello guys. I'm between 2 monitors, one is a 27" Samsung qled TN panel non hdr with freesync and the other is a LG ips hdr freesync monitor. Now TN is known for bad colors but the Samsung has 125% RGB and qled. The LG has 99% RGB but is IPS and hdr. I'm not a competitive gamer so Ms is not my first priority. What monitor will provide the best colors/quality?? Is TN qled superior to the IPS HDR???

I'd like to know what is the best panel type for what your uses are and/or your experience with others compared to the "best". Some to list off include: IPS TN VA(other's with "VA") PLS CRT(I understand it's not LCD)(I have seen few who compliment the superiority of CRT) If there are more, you may list more that I don't know of.

I wanna know more about precast concrete wall panels.Is it good for regular homes? How the heat level inside? and durability?

Hi all rather different question does leaving the side panel off my cooler master cosmos case affect the cooling of my PC, so does it make it any cooler or warmer does it cause a problem with air flow. Reason I asked is because i used to do it on my old PC as that had over heating issues and set on fire 3 or 4 times oops. But had this build i built for last 3 years now, and its got some nice LEDs in it and the Sound Blaster z lights up. Which I cant see with this case as it doesnt have a window on it. So just wondered if it will affect it or make any difference having it off. Thanks

I want to buy a new monitor. I have found a nice one. Coincidentally it has HDR400. I know, HDR400 is crap. But i don't care about this feature AT ALL. I just want a monitor of this specifications and turns it it ONLY comes with HDR400. No option to order without it. But my question is, will i be fine by just disabling HDR400 or will i actually get a worse display? Are HDR400 panels more prone to things like ghosting or blb? (While HDArent is turned off) Best regards

Can someone please explain this to me? I thought TN panels were meant to have worse viewing angles than IPS? doesnt seem like it here as my TN is out performing both my IPS panels lol

Hey, i know i can put a Optical Drive into the R6. My question is, can i still do it when i put the panel that's near the Tempered Glass back to the level where the Mainboard sits? What interests me is, is the Optical Drive mounted in the back site of the panel? Or does it even matter? I don't know how to explain this in a better way.+ I put a Picture in here so you see what panel i mean.

Simple question enough (answers not so much) what do you use to determine how good or bad a display is? Do you value HDMI or Display Ports? 10bit color reproduction or a larger lookup table? where do you fall on bit rate vs bit depth? wouldn't it be nice to just have both? Does color reproduction mean nothing to you if it's not factory configured for a Delta E of less than 2? Is it panel types? IPS vs OLED vs ???, or is it that IGZO substrait that tickles your fancy? Is size the reigning king in your household? Or does aspect ratio win out? (16:9, 16:10, 21:9, etc) Do you need enough nits to light up an entire room or do you prefer the darkest scene imaginable? what about DCI cinematic standards like DCI 4k vs plain old UHD 4k, or color specific gamut of DCI P3 vs REC.2020? or are you still worshiping adobe sRGB? Maybe you prefer resolution or maybe you'd be happy with a lower resolution if it has a much higher refresh rate? Maybe neither matters if total latency isn't under 16ms input to pixel change. Are you overly hyped about Dolby Vision or are you eagerly awaiting news on high density FALD lcd's? Will you even consider a new display if it doesn't have HDR? Does more $ = better quality inherently? Or are you about bang for the buck and balancing the best of everything under $X? Do you prefer open standards like freesync and displayport or is closed better for all of us like gsync and hdmi? You really couldn't care less if it doesn't vesa mount right? What's something you wish was on every spec sheet for every monitor? maybe displays are a thing of the past and you're eyeballing the first hologram projectors and the next wave of VR headsets? Or maybe projectors in general are your thing. Last but not least what price point would you consider buying some perfect monitor? For example a 10bit 4:4:4 HDR OLED with 12bit lookup table configured to delta E of .5 conforming to UHDA, Dolby Vision, 100% DCIP3 & 90% rec.2020, DCI4k, any size screen, under 4ms total latency, just everything that can be done right is, you read it and think "wow that's about as good as it's ever going to get". Even if you're broke assuming you had money to blow would you call a fair price around 600$? 30k? the soul of your first born? Of course it doesn't matter much without content, but thankfully DCI standards are industry standards across the board pretty much so every link in the chain has that as a lowest common denominator so thankfully most of your tv shows are technically ready to go right now it's just broadcasting them being the only weak link though there's always the bluray releases, streaming services, and more to fill that small gap. So what really matters to you in a display?

So, i want to buy a new monitor for gaming, and i know the basics: gsync/freesync, resolution and hz. Now, whenever i listen to a LTT video like today's, there are some things i realise i don't really know about. so, these are my questions: more importantly: what are the different panel types, and which is the best for what then; what does contrast ratio really means (what is 8000 and waht is the 1 in the 8000:1 on the top of my monitor) and finally, wt* is color reproduction? thanks in advance!

Between Samsung's PLS, Asus's IPS, BenQ's VA, & Dell's IPS, I have my mind on the following: SAMSUNG S24C650PL ASUS PA238QR Dell U2414H BenQ EW2440LI'm sure all of these are good for color reproduction, but I find myself more and more annoyed with the light bleed around the edges. I cannot stand the glow when watching movies with the lights turned off. Does anyone have experience with any of these? I know that Dell's Ultra Sharps get recommended a lot for color quality, but that 8ms is really scary. Should I just pick between the Samsung & ASUS or dish out a bit more money for the Dell or BenQ? Background: I'm a visual artist who works in fine arts & graphic arts, so of course color quality is important...but I of course I play games, too!

I've recently built my gaming PC, but the monitor I bought with it is disappointing in quality. I will return it for a full refund soon, but in the meantime, I need to work out what monitor to get. At the moment, my screen's pixels are obvious, you can see each individual one when playing games and it is very distracting. The game looks too sharp despite FXXA and AA, and the colour is off. The quality is also noticeably low when on the desktop and browsing the web. Desktop backgrounds are a pain to look at as I see their potential shredded before me. Not to mention constant flickering in game, as if I was watching through a low quality TV. I'm looking for a screen with extreme HD picture, where I can barely see the pixels at all at 1080p, with rich colour. Something like the iPhone 5s' screen, if you see what I mean. Response time to be at least 5 preferably. My budget is £140. Where can I go about finding such a monitor? Do I go with IPS? And if so, how can I make sure I'm getting the BEST QUALITY IPS PANELS? <-- very important that is specified. I am not risking a low quality IPS monitor, wasting my money. 1080p is the best resolution for me as money restricts me, and I prefer the constant 60fps+. However, that brings me to another question. The Hz of a monitor. Should I consider buying one capealbe of 75hz? Or maybe 100? What about 120hz? I play games such as Battlefield 4 and various Steam games such as TF2, CS:GO, Skyrim with mods and Real-vision ENB. My fps is an average of 60-100. Sometimes more but that would be when the environment is quiet, and no explosions are destroying my face. So, what about it, almighty linus forum? Can you help me in my time of need? Around late december 2017 I aquired a large quantity of studio foam panels. I haven't found a good way to set them up on my walls without damaging the walls. If anyone has suggestions please let me know!
