Budget (including currency): depends on how much cheeks I could sell but around $3,700 because I'm just a broke college student. Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, 3D modeling, Rendering, Simulations, and Development. I'm an Architecture major with focus in robotics, FrameCAD 3D frame prints, and parametric AI simulations. I use, iGrafx, MAT LAB, SIMUL8, abstractBIM, Sketchup, Rhino, Revit, Blender, Vray, Lumian, Keyshot, Twinmotion, Dynamo, Grasshopper, FrameCAD, Illustrator, PS... Game wise I shred basically all games if I could -- left my pc to render now it smells like burnt toast so now I just play with my bal---nevermind. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I need this PC for the heavier half of my major (very intense renderings and physics simulations) and to once again cry while getting one shot by a 13 y/o. Currently I have nothing but a 2018 MacBook pro which I stole from an elderly lady... jk CPU: AMD 5950x GPU: RTX 3080 or maybe the 6900XT (if I sell enough butt) RAM: 2x16 32Gb at 3400-3600 Ik ya finna tell me I literally can't buy these parts but I'm getting these even if I have to kick it at micro center for a whole month. My success in school and career legit depends on this. I wake up with my laptop on my stomach and fall asleep on me desk most nights if I do sleep... To give you an example sometimes I want to run a simulation that can tell me mechanics of very very rigorous walking loads on a new way of suspending a bridge... or how air moved through my entire building in the month July. I use VMware to access computers that might be able to (school) but we all know how horrible that is when your building has 50,000,000 geometries. what do you think ?? I know I need more with my workload, but understand I cry real tears when ever I have to spend over $32... that's why I still don't have a new pc, because I just can't spare more or settle for less then get more later if that makes sense. pls excuse me if I make no sense, I'm kinda just losing my brain by the day. if anyone knows a better way that I can accomplish what I do PLEASE let me know!! PLEASE

Hi! Guessing this is the correct sub-forum to post on? My wife is quite the gamer but she has never really had a chair. Reason is, she broke her tailbone when she was younger and sitting in chairs causes her a lot of pain after a while. (Now she just lays on a bed or couch with her gaming laptop) This is probably a stretch, but is it possible to find a chair suitable for her? I know certain sitting pillows exist, but I'm more looking for specially designed chairs/gaming chairs. I don't expect these to exist, but thought I'd ask just in case Maybe someone knows or is someone who is in a similar position with a solution. Thanks!

We got a Lenovo laptop in our shop that was supposedly turned off during a hardware update and now will not turn on. When pressing the power button the led light will turn on and stay power for a while before flashing once then staying normal again. It will repeat this process for 4-5 cycles before deciding that that enough and turning itself off. While this is happening the keyboard backlight, key caps, and screen do not power on or show signs of life. I have tried the following steps; Unplug battery and hold power button for 30s to discharge it. Unplug the main battery and then the RTC/CMOS battery and held the power button for 30s. pressed the FN key and the Novo button to boot to bios pressed the Novo button solo to boot to bios (also attempted with a press and hold) Prey unplugged the main battery and then the RTC/CMOS battery (holding power for 30s) and replaced the SSD and ram stick Bargaining simply holding down the power button with the charger attached and unattached(battery plugged in) None of the above solutions worked. I tried getting into contact with Lenovo support but I could not find any person or solution to aid my problem. Initially I assumed that it was stuck in a sleep mode but after testing I don't think that that's the case anymore. Does anyone have any experience with this or possible solutions for this. I will appreciate any support given, Thank you. ( I can give more info if needed)

Hi, I am trying to sort out a new chair for my pc but hoping to get recommendations from anyone else that might suffer with coccyx pain like I do. I suffer with crippling coccyx pain when I sit too long on any of my current PC chairs. Even moving in bed is really painful after long sitting sessions. So I'm looking for a chair that might help with this, I have a few conditions at well - No standing desks/weird gym ball things. Tried them and I stand all day as part of my job as well. -Must be available in the UK - Prefer a chair I could rest my head on/comfortable highback. -I sit with my legs crossed a lot so this might be an issue for narrower chairs. - Must be able to take more weight, I fluctuate between 90-115 kg over a year due to health issues. Thanks for any help/feedback!

Hey all, My windows (1803) will not update to 1903. It will download and install but fail at 100. With error code 0xc1420121 and one other. I tried: Restarting, direct update, windows update assistant, restart, windows troubleshooter update, remove perihals, download 1903 as an iso didnt install. However DISM, restore health fails, and DISM says source files missing or corrupted. How do i fix this corrupution and would it impact the update? TLDR: 1903 update fails do due to potential image corruption

hey bros, i pulled out the num5 key from uncle's laptop while was using it because it was pressing itself like this 55555555555555555555555555555 and i thought that maybe it not fitted in right, when i pulled it the hooks that were holding it in postion were destroyed and now the key is not even sticking in its place, yes i thought about sticking it there and putting it where my uncle keeps his laptop but it looks like that it is not sticking at all (i want to find a way to make it stick there (it wasn't working previously so that wont matter, i don't want it to work now i just want it there) . it will be ok if its squished he wouldn't notice that because his 5 year old is like beating up the laptop all the time. So, is there a way in which i can stick it in there without any adhesive and if there isn't any then pls recommend me an adhesive that does not smell too sharp (noticeable) and please no tape.... any help would be appreciated..... thx

It's story time, folks! I work for a non-profit child care center, where education is focused around computers. We run Minecraft servers, CodeAcademy, etc. The kids learn how to code, write mods, and are even working on a full-feature LEGO stop motion film. The place is called ArtsROC (www.artsroc.net). Our computers are pretty old and nasty, not to mention that having over 30 computers takes up a LOT of space. We wanted to start replacing systems, while trying to bring the amount of space for towers down. Being an LTT fan, I knew there was only one solution - virtualization. To start, we decided on doing a 4 gamers 1 cpu build. After some Amazon shenanigans, all the parts arrived. We decided on the following parts: Core i7 7820X MSI X299 Pro Gaming Carbon AC Corsair H100i v2 4x8GB DDR4 G.Skill Trident Z RGB @ 3000MHz 5x Kingston A400 120GB SSDs Corsair RMx 1000W 2x GTX 1050 2x GT 710 Corsair Crystal Series 570X (love this case) The original plan was to basically copy the tutorial from LTT's "2 Gamers 1 CPU" build from a few years ago by using unRAID. The system POSTed fine, and all hardware was detected by unRAID. After following the guide exactly (using Windows 7 Professional ISOs), we could only get 1 VM working. Frustrated, we scrapped unRAID and decided to install Windows 10 Pro and use some janky "multi keyboard/mouse" software instead... but it sucked. Then the weekend came and went. This morning (monday), I was back at work and was determined to get this stupid thing working.... my job was on the line. First, I tried Windows Multipoint Server 2012... a virtualization tool based on Windows Server 2012 designed for this exact type of use. Unfortunately, it refused to create VM templates. Scrapped that idea. I went back to unRAID and tried using Windows 10 ISOs... this time, we couldn't get a single VM working... not to mention that the system kept auto restarting. It was clear that unRAID wasn't the way to go. Finally, I installed Windows Server 2016 and enabled Multipoint Services. @LinusTech himself said "it doesn't look like this will work very well". But I had to try. A couple hours later... IT WORKED. 4 VMs CREATED, INSTALLED NVIDIA DRIVERS, AND WE ARE GOOD TO GO! I was surprised how scalable that Multipoint Services is. It could be relatively easy to expand it. We need to replace all our systems by the summer, so we're thinking of doing a 16 or 20 gamers, 1 tower build... TAKE THAT LINUS. But for now, I am calm, and satisfied. It works, and I am beside myself. I have no experience in server management or IT, so I was kinda winging it this whole time. Bottom line: It works, and I still have my job. Here are some pics for your enjoyment... Hey Linus, if you wanna partner with ArtsROC and help roll out a 20 gamers 1 tower build, hit me up

Hi! My house is old, its been here for a while and has very very high ceilings, which means one thing, LOADS of dust. I have already gone trough cans of compressed air, but within a couple of weeks my computer needs cleaning again. Im looking for a portable, reliable source of high pressure air, to clean everything (including the many dust filters on my pc) I am also looking for something that will be able to store air, or be very quiet, as (in my work place) I have to regularly clean computer equipment, but we are constantly packed with customers, and therefore I cannot have a compressor running because, complaints up the wazzoo. A small air compressor, with storage and power, would do. but I do not know which and I come to you to find out the best options! To sum up Portable (small ish, not 300kg, holds air or can produce without being plugged into something(ie plugged in) silent/quiet (I cant have a compressor running as explained above) powerful (POWER!!!! POOOOOWWWWEEER!!!!!!!!!) Thanks! Robert

I will try to keep this concise, I don't like wasting people's time when asking for help!! I am planning a gaming pc build, right now I have an old HP pavilion g6 and peasent console. Get gifted a Samsung LED monitor (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-S24D390HL-23-6-inch-Monitor/dp/B00IJS6OUA) which was not my choice, but it's a gift so nothing I can do. I have tried the monitor with my laptop and ps3... and it's killing me, the eye strain instantaneous. After five minutes my eyes are red and burn like hell, and I get bad headaches. I have tried lowering the brightness and contrast and all types of light arrangements in my room with no better results. I know that this kind of issues are common... but I have NEVER had this problem. I spend hours upon hours working on my crap laptop, which also has an led display and have no issues! I hope someone has advice, and thanks for your time! Also, sorry for my bad english. Sidenote: I am very concerned by the lack of linus dropping expensive hardware at CES... I was hoping he would give the sennheiser rep a heart attack with those expensive headphones

So I have been using a R.A.T. 9 Mouse for 4 years and I am now looking for a new mouse for a new build. Recently I have been experiencing upper arm and wrist pain after gaming sessions. I play in about 3-4 Hour chunks and in total will spend 8-11 hours continuously at my computer every day. I Play fps games using a mix of fingertip and palm, however I use 3 fingers on top while palming for web browsing. I play at around 1700 DPI and only require a programmable forwards and backwards button and a stepped scroll wheel that can take abuse. As far as laser vs optical, I will be buying a new mat so either is fine as long as they are accurate. I am so used to the thumb and ring/pinky rest featured on the R.A.T. mice that I want something similar. I thought I would post this here to see if anyone has suggestions. I wish to keep it below the $80 mark but if something really suits my needs up to $100 is ok. So far I have looked at the Logitech G502 Proteus, Deathadder, and a R.A.T. 7 + a large bottle of ibuprofen. Thanks, RedPanda

It's a great headset but it hurts my head. The headset is wireless thus it is really heavy and the headband cushion is pretty dang pathetic. After 1-2 hours of use the plastic underneath the cushion start to press down on my scalp, causing pain and redness. I've been wearing a hat underneath the headset as some sort of extra cushion but it just isn't enough. Anyone else have this issue? Any solutions?

Hey guys, I got my Razer Kraken 7.1 a few weeks ago since I wanted decent v-surround, a good mic and a USB-soundcard since I'm stuck with some onboard-crap. Well they were just as painfull to my ears after 1-2 hours of wearing them as any other closed headset that I tried (e.g. Roccat Kave 5.1, Creative Soundblaster Rage USB). I used a Sennheiser PC166 until now, also USB, but it got a little messy and I wanted a closed one. The only thing with the Kraken is that it doesnt hurt right away like the other ones, but just after those hours of use because the earpads get pushed in and let the speakers push against my ears. So I tried bending it a little and putting it under pressure for some time so it would break in but that was no success. I also like the mic on the Kraken (although my Sennheiser still was better) and I can live with the bassy sound of Razer audio-products (still prefer decent balance). I'm not that much of a fan of the idea of good headphones and a clip-on-mic, weither it's on the cable or the headphones, so I want to know the following: Do you have any idea how I could "boost" the earpads on the Kraken so they don't get pushed in so easily? I mean Linus wears them on the WAN-show almost every time and doesn't complain about pain on the ears. I already searched for replacements for the earpads themselfes but I couldn't find any and the Razer support also turned me down. Unfortunately it's too late for me to return them so I have to stick with them (gave them too much time to hopefully break in - big mistake). I will think about a way to get a decent soundcard (tending to ASUS Xonar DX 7.1) and maybe a Sennheiser PC360 with it but until then it will take some time. Thanks in advance! Kind regards, Trek
