Need a GPU for a CAD teacher's future workstation. Will be doing low to intermediate levels of CAD projects, and wants to dabble with Unreal Engine 4 a lot more soon. Rendering times are to be as low as possible. My current GPU budget is $1000-1200. (If I go with an R9 3900X, $1200, if I go with an R9 3950X, $1000. (I also need to know if I should go with an 3950X, I can see the benefit, and 2nd gen TR is prob not a good idea atm, but does the boost a 3950x gives outweigh the cost for my budget?) https://pcpartpicker.com/user/nathanpete/saved/#view=cjpW3C Also wants to do a little AAA gaming, but u can still game on a Quadro if gaming isn't the primary purpose. Basically: Do I still need a quadro for non-super complex CAD and UE4 in today's world? Hi guys, just recently join this community here, prettty much a newbie in all these tech things. just kind of wondering what kind of water blocks that i can use to water cooled a quadro p5000 since there isnt any specific water blocks for it in the market as far as I am researched. but is it possible to just use a gtx 1080 water blocks in the market? since some brands offer a full block instead of the universal one that offers just partial of it I asssume? thank you very much! HotHardware has managed to get their hands on a pair of workstation graphic cards from Nvidia and ran some benchmarks on them to see how well they perform. The 2 cards they got were the Nvidia Quadro P6000 and Nvidia Quadro P5000. P6000 is built on GP102, the same as Titan X (Pascal), and it's fully enabled, making it have a total of 3,840 CUDA cores vs 3,584 CUDA cores found on the Titan X (Pascal). It comes with 24GB of GDDR5X, ECC memory support, a 384bit memory interface, that can churn out 432GB/s of bandwidth. Power rating is at 250w. The P5000 is the same as a Nvidia GTX 1080, both are GP104. It has 2,560 CUDA Cores which is the same as a GTX 1080, double the VRAM 16GB GDDR5X vs just 8GB, ECC memory support, a 256bit interface and up to 288GB/s of memory bandwidth. Power is rated at 180w. It also features Nvidia Quadro SVS and with the new Quadro Sync II module. It can run up to 4 cards in a 16 display configuration. With 2 modules, up to 8 cards and a total of 32 displays. From what I've read in previous threads, the general consensus is that a PC will run with two different graphics cards, however... it probably won't work in SLI and each card needs to drive its own monitor. So i'm guess on a multi-screen system (left = CAD Card and right = Gaming Card), if the CAD software is open on the left is will run better on the left than the right and visa-versa for the gaming software. I don't have enough experience with multi graphics cards system to ascertain if this is correct or not but my gut is telling me that this is not quite correct in relation to my use case. I won't be doing CAD and gaming at the same time and I would like to use both screen at the same time with the software stretched across two screens or one type of CAD software open on one and another CAD software open on the other. Background:- Designing a new air gapped, full PC system with two main purposes; high end CAD including Simulation (Flow as well as others) and high end gaming. Graphics Cards:- (both cards need to be connected at all times due to the system being sealed) for CAD: a P5000 or possibly a P6000 (if I can justify that, to myself) for Gaming: an RTX 2080 Ti Screens:- Two 27" screens (or a single curved equivalent)[and maybe an A4 sized-ish screen in portrait]. Scenario:- Do some CAD, close the software, click a switch (physical or otherwise), the computer switches cards without rebooting, play some tetris (as if I would use an RTX 2080 Ti for just tetris lol) My initial train of thought would be to have the screens plugged into both graphics cards at all times and some how control which graphics card is powered up. I'm hoping this can be done in software without powering down or maybe by adding a physical switch/relay etc between the PSU and the graphics cards; but i'm guessing the system will need to be powered down or else risk system death. However if I can keep the system powered up and use a physical switch without system damage... that would be ideal. My other idea was to have both cards powered up at all times (a bit wasteful) and have the screens permanently connected to both cards via some kind of KVM switch (not sure if that's still a thing, I had one back in VGA days, worked a treat). Hopefully this would shift the PC's card choice. If that would work then I could probably automate that with some kind of AutoIt magic or something. My third idea which is an option but I really really don't want to do, is design my case to have two systems inside and have a KVM switch to move between them. But this seems like a cop out to me. I'd rather try to get the single system to work than compromise. I posted this on here because i'm looking for some guidance, thoughts, ideas, nuggets of truth from folk who have done this type of thing before and succeeded or failed. Both the cards are really quite expensive and any info which could assist the design would be much appreciated. Your probably thinking "why don't you just use the RTX 2080 Ti for the CAD work"... I tried opening one of my smaller models on a sample machine at one of the CAD software re-sellers with an RTX 2080 Ti and is was clunky AF, properly unusable.

Was going to get a P5000, then held off for the RTX5000, then held off again because of new CPUs, then held off once more because of rumours around new GPU architecture and PCIe4.0. Based on the 2x 2080ti vs RTX8000 video it would be reasonable to assume that a single 3090 was roughly the same performance as a current RTX8000 but for about a 1/3 of the price. I do alot of heavy Solidworks modelling but not enough simulation to warrant ECC or anything above the 5000. When comparing the hardware specs between the 3090 and 5000 it looks pretty clear that the 3090 will wipe the floor with the 5000 with all things CAD related as well as gaming. Will the 3090 do away with the quadro cards? Is there a quadro on the way with the new 3090 architecture? Should I just get the 3090 because it'll be years before a new quadro comes out?

Dear Friends, I would like to start saying that this actually is my first post in to the forum so Hi to everyone! I was looking from quite some time in to the web for information, that I'm abut to ask you for, but I can not find it anywhere. Hope you guys can help me. I have the great opportunity to have in my hand bought ASUS 1080 Ti ( as my own graphic card) and Quadro P5000 (which i luckily win yesterday in a contest) . Some guys told me that they have the same chip architecture so I can run them together in my rig to deal with heavy tasks like GPU rendering using V-Ray. With that in mind I have three questions to start with: - Is it possible to run bought P5000 and 1080 Ti in one system and to complete tasks together ? - I'm with MotherBoard << ASUS Rampage IV Black >> Is it going to support it ? - I have Cooler Master GX750W PSU. Is it going to be enough to run the bought of them (1080Ti is 250W and P5000 is 180W) Hope that you guys can help me because the next step is to plug them bought and try... not sure what will be the result.
