I thought i was crazy spending 4k building my PC I guess I could be a bit crazier. Sucks its shelf-life is only 2 years.

For quite some time now people have been telling builders to hold off on buying GPUs because of the mining craze. Does anyone have an idea or an estimate as to when the mining craze will die down?

http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?2684911 bought that Sapphire RX580 8gb for $296. Delivery is July 7th. I have no faith that I will actually get the card then, but at the very least I have the pricing locked in and they inform you if there's a longer wait... Which I am happy to do. Just bought a damn free sync monitor. Anyone else use this site for purchases? Or have dealt with a out of stock item?

After searching around for a monstrous cable I saw plugged into the psu of a show case pc at computex 2017 I found what I believe is that product used. This is hilarious and goes right up there with that $1,000 HDMI cable. http://www.theevolutionofsound.com/power-cords/ These people want HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS of dollars for standardized power cables. $4k a meter? What is this commercial sea bed cable?

I was looking to buy a refurbished MacBook in nz and I was looking at two particular models on apple own store. One of the models that I looked at had 16gb of ran but no touchbar, and one had 8 with one. They both had 256gb of storage which should be enough for me. Which should I choose? (They’re both around the same price so I don’t know which upgrade would be more future proof. Also they’re both 2016 models.)

I need a good all-round tiny PC. The requirements MUST be that the PC has a small footprint, decent hardware (CPU at least 4 cores and a dedicated GPU), and is under $1k USD. I priced out a Lenovo Thinkstation P330 Tiny to the tune of $720.30. It seems like a pretty good deal given the specs relative to size and price (see attached screen shot). Thoughts?

Source: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/61023/nvidia-price-geforce-gtx-2080-up-1499/index.html I'm going to have to say Anthony over at Tweak Town is on the money with this article, of course I believe that $1500 might be a bit of an exaggeration and a stretch, but nevertheless with the mining boom, I do not see how he could be too off base with this article as his estimations are based on fact and previous leaks or articles claiming that the mining boom isn't going anywhere anytime soon and GPU prices will only be on the rise through Q3 2018: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/nvidia-gpu-prices-will-continue-increasing-through-q3-2018.html

Today I decided to do an analysis of my brothers Alienware X51 GTX 660 Model. I found this: Part Name Ebay Price GTX 660 60 Samsung 256gb SSD 85 micron 2x8gb Sticks 92 DVD Player 15 Core i7 3770 3.4ghz 130 ALL PARTS TOTAL 382 Alien Ware x51 gtx 660 700 Now I found this interesting because paying for all the parts costs $382, but paying for the computer with an Alienware Logo is about 700-750$. This surprises me because of the tech actually inside the computer. The GTX 660 is worth 60 dollars today but inside an Alienware computers its worth about $120. I just found it weird people will pay almost 100% extra for a logo.

Hello, when I was helping someone pick out a GPU for their budget, I suggested the 1050Ti since it was safe from miners (at the time) and it was cheap for the cost. The GPU cost was $190 at the time but when I looked at it again in 2018, THE PRICE WAS AT $300. I looked at my current GPU (which was a 1070ti) It used to be $500 for the FTW version, BUT NOW IT IS $850. I realized that something was wrong so I checked the 1080ti price and guess what? $1,500 FOR THE 1080Ti WHEN IT USED TO COST $900. WHAT IS THIS?!

I have a personal issue with the crazy price of thermal paste. When I was on amazon a few weeks ago searching for PC parts, I decided I should pick up some thermal paste which is essential to having your computer not explode wasting hundreds of dollars. But thermal paste costs 12-13 dollars and I thought that was alright considering the misleadingly large package it was sent in, and the large look it had on the display images, but when I finally got it, it was a tiny tube that was smaller than a paperclip. I understand that you don't need that much for a single CPU but then after that you can use it for repair and other electronic devices. I think thermal paste should come with the CPU and the CPU cooler with the perfect, amount of thermal paste. I'm salty because it's so small thought, maybe this is a really dumb rant but I'm getting fired up XDDD

Wow, I found the A+++ winner for ridiculous ebay listings guys. I was dumbfounded by this. A CPU from 2013, not working, at that price. Maybe their motherboard was fucked but I doubt they only tested it on one motherboard or that wasn't working. This person has no idea you can't repair CPUs ???. I have lost a lot of respect for anybody who sells dead components or semiconductors like that at a premium. The CPU is dead, recycle it and move on

Amazon: http://geni.us/IiUw NCIX: http://bit.ly/29dygo3 This is, quite possibly, the dumbest purchase we've ever made...

Is it just me or is Corsair's K70 RGB (Cherry MX - Red) out of stock everywhere?! I'm in Canada so it usually sells for $220.00. I bought it on NCIX and it's been out of stock for weeks, and the only place I can find it is on Newegg (Canadian version) for $340.00!! Did Corsair's factory explode or a shipping boat sink? It's been a month and I just want to use my keyboard already.... Thanks guys

The crowd funded project " Ampy" has been a bitter disappointment to backers. Some have called it Or The "Ampy" was meant to be a battery bank that would charge via motion. The way it would achieve this is by internals magnets that would create a current to store energy. Although the battery could also be charged via plug, the Kinect charging has been its strongest selling point but its terrible! :I seems that was a lie however: This means that you'd most likely die by exhaustion before getting your phone fully charged. IT JUST ISN'T WORTH IT!! Original Link: BBC NEWS

Hi. Again I'm asking you to choose one of following earphones: Beyerdynamic DX 160 ie or Sennheiser Momentum In-ear or Beats UrBeats 2.0 or Razer Hammerhead Pro or AKG K376? Which of these all are them most comfortable and has the best sound quality? What I call "best sound quality"?: Very accurate, I can hear every instrument and vocals clearly, Slightly exaggerated bass, decent soundstage (I know that closed headphones don't have big soundstage). Music I listen to: Peaceful music, Aggressive music, Bassy music, Music from 80s,90s and 2015... If you need examples from those music styles just ask. Please don't judge me that I chose Beats and Razer on the list. They are also under 100€ so.... Thank you for replying.

Hey, So i won a Game Developing contest in my country. Its a game about being active and not a observer in bullying situations. I'm planning to sell the game to some country's for educational reasons. My current specs are: Intel Core i7 4820K Gtx 980 and 18 *yes 18* GB of ddr3 1333 Ram. Now that the game is getting tons of attention from country's my plan was to make it even bigger. *its like 5 mins of gameplay max.* I tried with my machine but after 30.000 meshes i cant build lights any more in high quality, the engine stops responding and it take a ton of time to render. So with the money i got im planning to make the most price>performance build that even our lord linus cant dream about. If you could help me choose it would be perfect. So. CPU: 2X Intel Xeon 2697v3 or 2X Intel Xeon 2699v3 GPU's: 4X Gtx Titan X or *say your opinion here:P* i was thinking also the Quadro M6000? *what about tesla gpu's?* Motherboard: Asus Z10PE-D16 WS. 4 pci3.0x16 slots. *ik the last one gets hidden by the cooler but all the cards will be watercooled.* RAM: So i dont know why but the RAM specs are these: 16 x DIMM, Max. 1024GB, DDR4 2133/1866/1600 MHz RDIMM, LR-DIMM, NVDIMM Memory. the 1024gb means 64gb per slot and i was like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? I don't know about ram outside the normal computers and i'm not well informed about DDR4 help will be needed. PSU: I got one Corsair AX1200i. Will this be enough? For w/c also. Or should i go with his 1500w. brother? CASE: Corsair 900D? It has tons of fan positions for the water cooling loop. HDD/SSD's: I'm not sure about this. i got 10 sata 3 ports. My thoughts were: 8X Intel 2TB DCP3500 SSD's and 2X Hitachi Ultrastar He6 6TB discs. Any thoughts how would you do this? At last i will need help to choose the blocks for the cpu watercooling loop and the rads brand you recomend Thank you

Hello everybody, I am pretty new here. I regrettably purchased an Alienware X51 R2 from Dell for over $1000 last year. I primarily use it for gaming. I want to see what my upgrade options are with this machine. I am thinking of ditching the case and getting a larger chassis. I don't know what would be compatible with the Alienware motherboardas far as processors, graphics cards and RAM go. I have not gotten clear many clear answers online anywhere else. I also want the OS to boot from an SSD and have everything else on the 1TB hard drive it came with. When I bought the computer, I didn't have a whole bunch of knowledge on building computers. I feel like I could have gotten a better value for my money if I put the work into building a PC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Here are the specs: Alienware Mini ITX Motherboard - Would I just be better off getting a different motherboard? 1TB SATA 6Gb/s (7,200RPM) 64MB Cache 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600Mhz NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 750Ti 2GB GDDR5 4th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-4460 Processor (Quad Core, 6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost) Graphics Card Upgrade Options (according to Dell): NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 960 with 2GB GDDR5 and AMD Radeon™ R9 370 with 4GB GDDR5

So I have just finished digitally building my new beginner gaming PC, however from my research it will perform WORSE than a PS4. This is extremely strange as the overall price comes to around £600. Thats double the prise of the PS4 and I haven't included a operating system or any accessories (e.g: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse). I don't understand this. This is the PC I have digitally build : http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/DMGCWZ Have I just chosen a bunch of bad parts? I have included a SSD but that only adds £70 to the price. Any help is appreciated.

Been scrambling all over the internet to find any parts to upgrade a Alienware X51, its been 4 years since I bought it (I regret it, since now I have knowledge of PC building), so is there any upgrades I can perhaps do on the Alienware X51? The PC sits on my wooden desk, so airflow is fine. Haven't actually opened up my PC in the last 4 years, so I will have to clean it out when I upgrade. Outside of the case, looks pretty clean. Current outdated specs: CPU: i7-2600 (wish it was unlocked, but oh well) GPU: GTX 555 RAM: Don't know if RAM was made by Dell themselves, but 8 GB PSU: I think its a 300w External PSU, sits on my desk Storage: 1 TB (technically 995 GB according to PC) 7200 RPM Mobo: Mini ITX X51-R1 Fans: Standard fans, does a okay-ish job at keeping CPU at 57c minimum to 71c max. I currently have no images at the moment, so here's a image of it: I regret buying this junk and could've built my own PC. am sad, crying in corner rite now.

I'm well aware that this build should probably be closer to $1500 in total, but boy, this is the lowest I can possibly get where I live. I'll never know the joy of super cheap retail prices. Anyways, after weeks of researching, this is the best I could come up with. A gold-themed (mostly) mATX build. I won't be overclocking nor will I be doing any SLI, hence the locked processor and H97 mobo. There are three things I am still not sure of: - PSU: I figured a 550W PSU would be enough, but is it? The only things I'll add in the future is a couple more SSDs and probably some LED strips, more fans, or even a fan controller but that's it. Future Graphics card would most likely have lower and lower power consumption anyways, right? - CPU Cooler: CM 212 Evo, or any good air cooler would probably be sufficient, but would I benefit from closed loop watercoolers like Corsair's Hydro lineup for example? - SSD: I know Samsung's EVO is the popular choice around here, but until they get that performance issue fixed, I won't consider it for now. Hi there guys, I was looking for the Cooler Master Elite 110 for use in a home build. However, I was having trouble finding it in UK outlets, and wherever I could find it it was fairly expensive, compared to the Elite 130. Ebay Elite 130: £35-40 Elite 110: £90 Scan.co.uk Elite 130: £40 Elite 110: £66 Does anyone have any idea why it's so expensive compared to its big brother, and why it's barely available? Thanks, FullNuclearBreakfast

Story from /. This makes me hopeful for our Australian friends. :D Maybe computers/services will get cheaper? Hopefully. Do note that this is different from how Europe does it (where they just replace the $ with a £ which isn't equivalent, but makes up for VAT to an extent). If that's how it works. I don't live there. No idea. Thoughts? I didn't find an article about this using the search function.
