  1. I am having problems with my CPU overheating. Built 9 years ago and AIO changed 1.5 years ago. Firstly specs: GPU: GTX 1080ti CPU: intel 8700k RAM: 16GB TridentZ RGB 3800Mhz Watercooler: EK-AIO Elite 360 D-RGB (6fans push pull) Mobo: ASUS ROG Strix Z370-E Gaming I think that the AIO is the problem as I cant think of a reason the CPU would heat up this much. At idle its around 70-80C and when loading anything it goes to 90-100C (checking temps with HW monitor). I can feal the very start of the AIO tube warm and the return at room temp. The pump header is at the AIO_PUMP of the mobo which is set to PWM at 100% no mater the temps. Normally I could overclock the CPU to 5-5.1GHz but went back to normal mode when problem started. This has happened 3 times now last times after a couple of days it gets back to normal with idle temps at 40-50C and peak at 80C with playing + streaming or other programs. If I unplug and replug the AIO_PUMP header I hear the wind of the pump for a bit and then it seems to stop so I think the AIO pump is probably the problem. Is there a way to confirm this? Or anything else I can do to troubleshoot or fix it? The AIO is still under warranty but I would need to send it to the reseller that will send it to EK for confirmation that its the problem and if not they will charge me for all the transport costs. As the problem appears and disappears seemingly after some time I am a bit scared to do this to not loose the money. Also I would not be able to use my pc while all of this is happening... Any help appreciated!!!
  2. Hey guys, I've had an H100i pro RGB corsair AIO for the last 7 years on a Ryzen 5 1600x and since the beginning it struggled to cool my CPU (it would run at 80C at max load with stock CPU settings) which I didn't think much of at the time because I was a big dingus when it came to PCs. for the last year I have on and off been trying to fix it but yesterday I bought a new air cooler to test if it was the AIO that's being funky. To cut a long story short, even after buying a new CPU (Ryzen 5 5500), swapping coolers, changing between multiple different brands of thermal paste, swapping out motherboard backplates and trying 3 different coolers, no matter what CPU or cooler I put on my motherboard it runs hot. My new 5500 runs at 70-75C at 75W power and 25C ambient temperature. The AIO works wonderfully in my brothers PC so I know now it was not the AIO that was broken either. I have no overclock or anything applied to any of the CPUs, I'm running stock BIOS settings besides for DOCP. My case has 2 corsair ML120 fans and a phanteks PH_F120SK_BBK_PWM fan for exhaust, I have removed the front panel as it is quite restrictive and all the temps are with 100% fan speed on everything. Heres the list of parts I have used and my current config: Ryzen 5 5500 (current) A second R5 5500 from my dads PC to test if it was the new CPU ID Cooling SE-226-XT (Current) Phanteks PH-TC12DX (just to test, from my bros PC) Asus Prime B450M-A (Current) Phanteks P300 Eclipse with the front cover removed so it can breathe (Current) Pastes I tried: Thermal grizzly hydronaut, kryonaut, ID cooling paste, Phanteks PH-NDC, solar geyser heat transfer paste (Its very fluid, was just to test) My case has 2 corsair ML120 fans and a phanteks PH_F120SK_BBK_PWM fan for exhaust, I have removed the front panel as it is quite restrictive and all the temps are with 100% fan speed on everything. I know the ID cooling tower works well, I built a friends PC and his 5700x with the same cooler maxes out at around 55-60C Is it possible there is something wrong with my motherboards socket or something thats making any cooler/CPU have a bad mount? Literaly any help will be appreciated, I have completely run out of ideas at this point I have attached a screenshot of HWmonitor while running a stress test
  3. Hi, I m having an problem. So, it goes like this This strangely started appearing when I downloaded game Assetto Corsa. In that game I ve got green screen that can go back to the normal view and again happends. So I noticed that just when playing assetto corsa. But, from that, it happened in another game today. In game named Squad. I have been playing squad for few years, and never had this issue. For now in League of Legends, this never happened, before and now from assetto corsa also game was working fine. It looks like Steam games are causing this. I mean I didnt clean my PC few months I can say. Also thermal paste wasnt changed In maybe year or a two. But this never happened. Today after PC restart, I got error message about cpu overheat. I mean it isnt cleaned, its winter and my home heating system is behind pc but not to it, under it, to the table on which pc is. But like I said, that didnt happend never, and I have this PC so long. CPU is old, but is performing very well for all my needings. Here are specs: Intel i7 2600 4.0Ghz 4C 8T RAM 16GB HyperX DDR3 SSD HDD PSU 550Watt RX 570 4GB It is connected trough HDMI, on TV screen 32Inch Samsung. IMG_4168.mov
  4. I'm sorry for my poor english! So this year I bought a rx vega 56. I was in a hurry when buying it and I didn't give a thought about cooling and etc. My pc specs were CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x MOBO: Asus prime a320m-k Ram: 16gb ddr4 3200mhz cl 16 SSD: random samsung 512gb nvme m.2-2230 ( the m.2 slot on the mobo is right under the gpu) 700w aerocool psu So from February to June of this year, I had no problems with the pc. All games went smooth, no crashes, blue screens or random blackouts. I had done some overclocking to the RAM (3333 mhz at cl 17) and also GPU through AMD software-Adrenaline Edition and it was all good. After a period of 1 month ( i think) I started to have random blue screen once in a while, but nothing major. I thought that it was the Ram so I bought a second hand 32gb 3000mhz g-skill aegis in a rush. Problems were still current so I tried undervolting a bit and it didn't work so I went on and underclocked the card a LOT, reduced power usage and that was it. The gpu was causing the ssd to overheat. I bought another ssd (XPG GAMMIX S70 blade 1tb) with a passive heatsink on it and I put a fan blowing air to the ssd and still when I try to do smth graphics intense, the pc blackouts or just freezes and then blackouts. So I think it is a relatively easy fix by swapping out for a less power hungry GPU or a motherboard which has it m.2 slot not under the gpu. I will be very glad if someone suggests a workarround about this. I have attached the overclock and underclock settings for the RX vega 56. Thank you! rxvega56ocopt1.xml rxvegaverylowpower.xml
  5. System Specs: Case: Lian Li Lancool 216 (2x160mm front intake and 1x140mm rear exhaust) Motherboard: Asrock x670E Pro RS CPU: 7800x3d CPU cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE GPU: XFX Merc 310 RX7900XT Black PSU: Tough Power GF3 850W AMD driver version 23.11.1 This is my second GPU. I had to RMA the first one for the same overheating issue, the hotspot reaching 110C while playing games and used to sound like a hurricane. While idling the GPU temps are at 50C and the hotspot is at 67C with 100W I used Baldur’s Gate 3, Stress test built into AMD Adrenaline, MSI Kombuster, and Heaven to put the GPU underload. All of them provide the same consistent results below. Under load, the GPU heats up to 65C and the hotspot is pegged at 110C drawing 350W. The GPU clock speed reaches 2400MHz (sometimes spike up to 2500MHz, but only as a spike). My first card at least used to boost past 2600MHz very easily. In some cases, while playing other games, I have seen the GPU draw 290W and still hitting 110C while the clock speeds are below 2200MHz I used HWinfo and AMD Adrenaline to monitor the clock speeds and temperatures. Airflow issues:- I measured more than 4 inches between the PSU shroud and the GPU fans. The bottom front intake should also provide ample air to the GPU. And since the GPU temps reported (65C under load) see fine, I don't think the airflow is an issue Sagging:- I don't know if GPU sag can cause an issue, but I am using the GPU brace provided with my graphic card I don't want to just RMA this again. The shipping cost for the first RMS was about 100 USD and I am not willing to spend that much again. Did I just get unlucky twice? Apart from this what else should I be looking at? What can I do to mitigate this and get some proper experience?
  6. So i have a acer aspire one d255 With 2 gb ram, atom n550 and a 500gb hdd and i tried to run the laptop it died after 10-30 minute use, so maybe its the os its to heavy, and i swith to linux mint xfce, Before i install it i tried using it for 10 minute and still died.. Can anyone suggest anything to solve this, i really need it for school Thx
  7. Hey, I am having a really weird problem with my pc which I can not figure out from 3 months now, so I am posting here if someone can help. I have a i79700k processor, I am trying to use it on gigabyte Z390 ud motherboard, the pc doesn't boot/post when I setup my pc and the processor gets really really hot in a couple of seconds. I took the motherboard and the chip to gigabyte server center, they tested the board and it worked with their processor, it posted and I saw the bios myself, they tried with my processor, it didn't work. I sent the processor to Intel, got a call from them that the processor is completely fine, they have tested it on multiple board, with stress testing it for 12 hours. I got my processor back and the motherboard, they still didn't work. Processor still over heats, motherboard lights up, ram lights up. There's little lights in bottom right corner of the motherboard it tells that it has detected ram, cpu, gpu but no boot. Now I wonder if the processor is fine, the motherboard is fine why does it not work. It's supposed to be working fine on this motherboard. Thanks for reading! I hope I can get some help.
  8. Hi everyone, I need your help on figuring out the source of a problem. My computer has the following specs: Motherboard:- Asus TUF Gaming x570-Plus CPU:- AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU:- NITRO+ AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT SE RAM:- 32Gb DDR4 (16x16) Corsair Vengeance PRO 3600Mhz Memory:- M2 WD Black 1Tb- M2 WD Blue 1Tb- 2x WD SSD 1Tb Fans:-6x Corsair iCUE SP120 RGB ELITE CPU Cooler:-Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE Case:- Lian Li pc-o11-dynamic-razer-edition Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 GT 80 Plus Gold 850W Full Modular OS: Win 11 64 The issue i'm having is, whenever I play a game, lately it's been Minecraft, my GPU overheats to 115ºC (Hotspot) and shuts down the whole PC. I tried removing AMD drivers via safemode, and then clean installing them again. I checked and all cables seem to be connected correctly (im not too savy, so I might have missed something tho) I've updated the BIOS I updated windows and all that good stuff. Still, whenever I run Minecraft with shaders, and we're talking about shaders not too demanding (Make-up Fast Shaders), my GPU Overheats and shuts down. The GPU fans are spinning. I have the CPUID HWMonitor log, but im not sure if I can post that here, or if it has sensitive data on it, but here's what it captured when I was playing: https://pastebin.com/mDVuGXwe Does anyone have any idea about what's going on? This is something that started happening when I changed houses, meaning, 2 months ago, I didn't have these issues. Thanks for all the help, and i hope i gave all the needed data for someone to help me find a sollution.
  9. I have a used iPhone 13 mini (256GB model) that I bought like 6–7 months ago, and it's been a while since it gets uncomfortably hot, especially when watching videos for too long or installing updates. It bothers me so much that I place a table fan next to it when charging. I turn off Bluetooth and Location, and never use it while charging. Also, I am worried that it might shorten its battery, as it's already gone from 100% when I bought it to 93%. I am running the latest version of iOS and use the original 20 W adapter for charging (the cable isn't original though). My questions are: ¿Is it normal? And: ¿How can I prevent it from heating? Thanks.
  10. I built a new gaming/coding PC for myself a few days ago and as I was stress testing to see if everything is good, I see that when I run the Aida 64 stress test my CPU shoots to 98°C immedietly. However, the clock speeds tends to stay always between 5 and 5.1 GHz. The CPU usage is consistently at a 100% regardless. What's concering me the most is that I read that AMD CPUs tend to thermal trottle when it reached 95°C. I updated my BIOS and all drivers and now I can see that the CPU maxes at 93-94°C while maintaining the same clock speeds with 100% usage as before. Do I need to updgrade my CPU cooler of something? I'm currently using a Cooler Master Hyper H412R in an Corsair 4000D airflow case. I've only 1 intake and 1 exhaust fans but I've orderd more fans for the case. I'm also running a 4060 which does not go above 60°C. Also, as I'm here. Can you suggest me a Linux distro which could be stable for NVIDIA GPUs? I've installed ubuntu but I'm unable to boot into it if my monitor is connected to the GPU (DisplayPort and HDMI) but I am able to boot into it if its connected to my motherboard. It's annoying to switch the cables everytime as I play games on Windows and Code in Ubuntu. The WSL2 in windows isn't detecting my GPU and I'm left with no other option other than dual booting.
  11. hello everyone, for a wile now my graphics card is running really hot. always running 86.c and then starts to termal trottle. pc case is the Be Quiet! darkbase 700 white limited edition. there is a i5-9600KF with a watercooling from coolermaster masterliquid. the 2 standard fans is in the back and in the top 140mm exaust. there is also 2 fans 120mm in the top exaust. there is also 2 coolermaster fans from the radiator in the front intake. i applied thermal grizly thermalpaste on the graphics card. can anyone help me to fix this problem?
  12. Wondering if I could get some advice. A buddy of mine gave me an old used laptop, a 13 year old Dell Vostro 3500. Its immaculate, well taken care of and I use it just to browse the web and do MS Office stuff. For that it works perfectly. There is no graphics card. CPU is a Core i3-370M @ 2.40Ghz 8GB RAM Win10 Home To watch YouTube when at home I hook the laptop up via HDMI to a small projector. The laptop chugs along for about 20 minutes or so and then immediately shuts down. The underside and side vents could likely fry an egg. The same thing happens when accessing a USB stick for a while. The stick itself gets super hot, the laptop even hotter and it shuts down. This only happens if writing/reading large files not for small read-writes. I used CoreTemps logging feature and it showed the CPU reached 89°C and then the laptop shut down. When not doing any of these things the laptop runs perfectly. What could cause it to try to melt itself when I use HDMI or the USB ports?
  13. In God of War at 1440p, everything on ultra settings and unlocked framerate it reaches 86 C. With MSI Afterburner, it gets to 72 C with the fans of the GPU maxed out to 100, but I still don't know if it's normal. I bought the GPU from a friend, and I wanted to test the games, but I got to high temperatures (with out MSI). My specs are CPU 12700k 4800 mhz GPU: 3090 RTX 24 VRAM RAM: 2x 16 GB DDR5 5200 MHz Kingston Fury Beast NVME 2TB Patriot PSU 750 W Corsair I'm also planning to perform a stress test; could that damage the GPU or my PC? What should I see if it was used for mining?
  14. Anyway to keep my 5800X temps under control while gaming or under loads, even idle is 46-60C sometimes, and under load it hits 84C like no joke even tho using a 360mm AIO with it but cant seems to keep it under good temp range
  15. my system has ryzen 5 3550h with 16 gb dual ram and 1650 4 GB GPU when i play games for example VALORANT my CPU latency spikes up to 50 ms for few seconds in every minute and cause my game to stutter. i am facing this stutter problem in every almost every game. my games fps drops to 3-8 fps for 3-5 seconds and then goes back to normal. this happens every 30 sec to 1 min. any solution to fix this.
  16. Alright somebody help me out here. So I'm running a Radeon R9 290 (yes I know it's ancient but it works) and the old cooler just isn't good enough anymore. So recently I bought a Corsair H100 AIO and have it attached to the card with that NZXT bracket thing. Unfortunately now, it somehow performs worse than before and actually crashes now, in certain situations. I feel like I did something wrong since this is my first time, but I can't think of what specifically. Any suggestions? Here's what I've done so far; Connected the bracket to the card with the AIO installed (used MX-2 thermal paste) Connected the three 3 pin connectors to my fan hub (the fan hub is connected to the chassis fan connector on my mobo) And obviously mounted the fan and radiator to my case appropriately. The case is a Kolink Obsidian and does officially support water cooling systems. Any help would be super. Thanks
  17. Hey everyone. In the last few weeks I noticed that while playing demanding games my RTX 2080 TI nearly immediately reaches a temperature of around 85C°. Then every few minutes the temperature will go up to 86C° and some form of emergency cooling kicks in which makes its fans spin with a lot more than 100% speed. I noticed that when I remove the glass panel of my case (Fractal Design Meshify C) my graphics card will never reach such temps and even under load it will be 10-15C° cooler than before (I made some benchmarks with 3DMark), meaning most of the time the temps will be around 70C°. My CPU temps are mostly fine. So with this information gathered, I think there's something wrong with my airflow and I would like to improve it. This is my current setup: https://imgur.com/a/8bhLx6Z I have 2x 140mm intake fans in the front, and 2x 120mm exhaust fans in the top left. There are two additional fan locations in the top and bottom right. Would it make a difference if I put additional intake fans in said locations or is there anything else I can do to prevent my graphics card from frying itself? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)
  18. Hello, I am in a bit of a pickle and have an idea for a solution to my problem, however, I have no clue as to what I am looking to buy or use. Here is my problem: known issue as it is, my Razer Blade battery keeps bulging due to overheating from running my laptop hard. I believe the heat is being transferred via the metal backplate as it comes into direct contact with the battery and gets quite hot after a couple hours of heavy use. I believe the solution to this issue, to stop the batteries from overheating and bulging, is to get some sort of thermal shield fabric or material, ideally thin, between the battery and the backplate to significantly slow the transfer of heat. For the life of me I cannot find a product like this online. Any assistance toward this end I would greatly appreciate. If there is another solution to this heat problem I would be glad to hear it. Before anyone asks, the fans on my Razer Blade are set to max and the laptop gets ample airflow with the rear of the laptop being four inches higher than the front. I do clean the dust out of the laptop regularly as well. Vatruvius
  19. Hello all Please help me figure out why my CPU suddenly got way warmer. Or I mean, give me opinions on what might be wrong. So, right after I got my 3090, my CPU's temps have gone through the roof. Yes, my case is very well ventilated. Almost all air in the top of my case where my AIO radiator is is cool. I think my CPU already had this "problem" before I got the 3090. I just think the problem shows now that I'm able to push higher FPS. I'm not 100% sure though. So I think I remember my CPU was always sitting in the 60/65c's when I got it (with no OC). I then started experimenting with overclocking and was able to push 4.7 all cores with stable temps (like peaks near 75c) for a long time. Suddenly one day my CPU was not stable anymore, so I just removed the OC. (back then I had a GTX 1080Ti and played in 2560x1080). Then as time went by, my CPU's temps have gotten higher and higher. And after I got my 3090 installed, I saw after some hours of FH4 gametime, I had peaks near 95c on some cores, which is just insane. In Battlefield 5, I had 3 cores on 95c and 1 core 98c, which is even more insane. I then bought a new AIO (HX100x), because I thought it might have been my old one, which was 6 years old. installed the new AIO and temps was better. Had peaks just above 90c in Battlefield and only on 1 core. But still, these temps are very high... Yes, I do play in 5120x1440p now, yes I do pull more frames with the 3090, yes it will make my CPU run hotter, yes my CPU is the 8700K, which is warm, but 90c? Really? So, to make my CPU "relax", I've had to turn on Best Case-Scenario in BIOS for SVID, and take my clocks down from 4.3GHz to 4.1GHz, to make sure my temps only peak at 80 after hours of gameplay. Is this right? Is the 8700K just this warm, when you push it with a 3090? Also, have the internal thermal paste or whatever it's called, gotten worse? If that's even possible. Is delid needed? I hope someone with some expertise can help me figure out what exactly is wrong, if anything "is wrong" actually, and if delid is the only thing that can save my CPU. Thanks
  20. First off...yes its a macbook. I didn't anticipate getting this much into gaming when I bought it so now I have this small issue. This thing gets hotter than Satan's six pack at the gym when the game is running after a few minutes. hovers in the High 80C. I'm playing around with an idea of making a little custom cooler that sits on the bezel above the CPU. I want to get a piece of square piping, a small 20x20mm fan, and line the pipe with copper heatsinks that would draw up the heat. I'm still lost on a few ideas... Is it difficult to take a 3pin fan and tie into a basic USB-C connection so it can plug into my laptop? Should I get one fan to blow into, or suck out of the pipe? or one on each end? Is there any soft thermally conductive material I can attach to the bottom of the pipe so it doesn't cause any cosmetic damage to the laptop? Would somehow going for a small liquid cooled heatsink be better rather than all this? I've also thought about running some basic flat water pipes (if those even exist) over the bezel that hook up to a more conventional cooling set up? I could potentially use the liquid cooling setup when I build a more suitable gaming PC.
  21. Hello i'm new to this website but a big fan of Linus so sorry for anything i dont fol. So basically i undervolted my gpu because its been getting to about 83 cel while playing let me just state that im not happy with that temp. I undervolted but still gaming at 80cel and so on. Personally i dont think its an okay temp to game at. So i need a little help. Any suggestions for cooling that wont involve sacrificing performance. i would like to get my gpu to atleast like 75 -70 while gaming. The things i would like some help on is fan curves general tips for airflow and things i probably wouldnt know. I have an M atx case with like atleast 2 inches of room under the gpu. also i would not like any suggestions that cost money. Feeling the top of my gpu it gets pretty hot. Thanks.
  22. I have a i7-10700k not overclocked and when i am gaming it is reaching temps from around 80-90c even when the usage is under 50%. I've looked this up and I'm getting mixed answers on if this is an issue or not. its just that those high temps seem a little to hot. for example: when im playing Minecraft my CPU is getting to over 85c consistently sometimes to even 92c, which for long spans of time i know isn't good at all. i am running a ARESGAME River 5 CPU cooler which i know is a budget cooler but the reviews where good and i didnt have alot of money to spend, so it seemed like a pretty good bang for the buck. Should i remount the cooler and apply new paste? or should I go with a water cooling set up or just a better more expensive cooler Someone please help
  23. Hello, dear comrades. I am desperate and you are my last resort. Recently my motherboard died out of nowhere, so I've had to replace it. Bought a new ASRock z170PRO4 for my old i7-6700k. Everything works, but there is a catch - the temps have been absolutely trough the roof. 50-60 at idle and instant throttle with any kind of load, including installing drivers. I haven't even closed the case and this dreads me immensely. This is beyond my comprehension. The cooler I'm using is NZXT M22 AIO, and it was more then enough for that exact CPU for a year and a half. So far I've tried: Remounting the cooler and thermal paste numerous times Setting all fans and pump to max speed Manually changing CPU voltage (was around 1.5, changed to 1.25 with no effect whatsoever) Disabling turboboost and speedstep Re-inserting the CPU Updating bios, chipset drivers and whatsnot Nothing helps. I'm on the verge of tears, since Imma not going to buy a new gaming PC and if the thing dies, I'll be stuck with a laptop...
  24. So i have this Gigabyte Sabre 15 laptop i bought in 2017. The spec are as below: i7 7700hq gtx 1060 16GB 2333 DDR4 ram 128 GB SSD + 1TB HDD It's an old laptop i use every day for the last 4 years for mostly gaming. I can game at least 3/4 hours a day using this, every day after i am back from work. I noticed the last 2 month, this laptop unable to handle its heat properly, making even idle temps high. I have done : 1. Cleaned the inside, vents, and fans of the laptop 2. Reapplying thermal paste on both cpu and gpu 3. Undervolt my CPU, tried to underclock/undervolt my GPU but this is laptop we're talking about, voltage control are locked and i cant do anything with it. 4. Tried multiple GPU drivers. Didnt work. I revert back to factory shipped driver for now ( I found some game crash using newer driver , dont know why ) 5. Cooling pad + lifting the laptop barely do anything None of the things i did above solve this issue. I am not asking for the laptop to be 70 degree under heavy load. I am just asking for it to be at least not throttling. i am at my wits end. I can still fire up RDR2, TW:WH2, Squad no problem. But it will start throttling, 5-10 minutes into the game. For context, i live in a tropical country, where the room temp can reach 34 degree in the middle of the day, but i play in a AC controlled room. I am really hoping i can hold on to this laptop for another year cause most laptop i want is unavailable anywhere Thank you
  25. So I have a brand new pc I’ve had it since October and it’s worked perfectly since day 1. Goes from off to start screen in seconds. Has 11th gen i7 32 g ram Rtx 3060 1tb ssd. I’ve been able to run everything on epic. Now since I played Icarus first my aio pump started ticking so I had them send me a new one under warranty but I haven’t received it yet and now when I turned on my pc it gets stuck on a black screen either right after the gigabyte logo screen or it doesn’t even get to that. More then half the time I can’t even get into bios or It just freezes. I don’t know what to do did Icarus break my computer? Here’sa video of the problem out even got to the bios this time and now it’s cpu temp is up!!
