I'm currently upgrading my rig, and I'm switching out almost everything, including my CPU, RAM, MoBo, and Boot drive. I want to make sure that I don't lose my windows key, but I have no idea what I'm doing. Does anyone have a utility or step-by step I could look over?

hi forum. i was wondering. as i am getting a new pc. i would like to give its User Interface a big overhaul. i was looking around on the internet for an option for me to customize the top bars from application windows. and possibly get custom loading bars as well. and i was considering rainmeter as well. but i hear some say that rainmeter is fairly demanding on pc resources eventually what i want to accomplish is a theme of black and green. maybe with a kind of pcb style. but i was wondering if there was a way to create my own theme or so to accomplish that. any help will be very much appreciated

So recently ive completely lost myself to the immersive and atmospheric world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and it makes me sad that there arent more games like that. However Fallout 3 could potentially get close to the miserable survival experience of stalker with the help of some mods. So which hardcore survival mods for FO3 that i should look into?

I'm about ready to do a system overhaul, new MOBO, CPU, and RAM. I am trying to decide if I should wait until holiday time frame and hope there are some good deals, or buy now while microcenter is having a MOBO, CPU bundle discount. Thoughts? The discount is $40 by the way. Looking at getting a Ryzen 2600, ASROCK B450M Pro4, and Ripjaws RAM, 2X8GB

Hello LTT! I am working on a project on my own, where I had some spare parts from my awesome sponsor, Arctic. They made this post possible, so I wish to thank them one thousand times! I have a good friend, who is currently enrolled in a College program. As a student, his funds are extremely limited, and spending on his computer is not always possible in the way he wants to. He have been complaining a ton about how his rig makes noise, and after a visit to check up on the rig; i found two things. 1: The rig was dusty. Dust accumulation made his coolers ineffective, and drove temps up. 2: He was using a stock cooler. The 2600 is a hot chip, and needs decent cooling if the user wishes low sound from the rig. So; here is what I did. I kindly asked him if I could borrow his rig for a guide on how to clean your computer. This is something he had been wanting to do for some time, but due to time pressure had not perused. Obviously, he agreed and handed over the rig. Here is the story told in pictures: I picked up a fairly plain computer. Few scratches, broken front-panel and missing 5.25" bay cover. Dust filters is always a sight for sore eyes. Looks like the filters are doing their job so far First picture of the opened machine. I am a happy man overall. PSU and PSU Filters is a godsend - this is why they;re so important! Looks like some of the grease from the fans ball-bearings have been leaking, which caused this incredibly resilient dust to accumulate Ew I am not satisfied with the result of my "cleaning" but in the timeframe this was the best I could do. Here I have removed the stock heatsink, and installed the Freezer13, that was donated by Arctic. I sure hope he will like the newfound silence I don't have any pictures of the inital backpanel. Partly because it was not interesting, partly because I forgot. New cablemanagement is alright. Not my best work, but OK, considering the non-modular PSU. This is the next on the upgrade list! I really want to get the Modmat Xtreme featured by Linus a year or so back: However, it is only really available on FrozenCPU, which from what I hear, is still "closed" and not accepting orders (I've never bought anything there). I can't checkout correctly. Where else can I get it? I would very much want it because I plan on doing some rather unnecessary overhauls over the next few weeks. Is there anywhere else where I can buy one of these?

So i am planning on getting a new mouse, and possibly a new keyboard (not sure yet). And to be quite honest i know very little about KB's and mice. What i already have in use. Mouse: Logitech G300, about 2 to 3 years in use. Keyboard: Emachines OEM notworthyofaname, 3-4,5 years in use. (not really sure about the usage times, i could go dig my mail and see for sure) What i am planning. Mouse: Logitech G502 protheus(?) core Keyboard: Logitech G710+ I am not buying anything in the next few minutes, i have a week or two to decide. If you want to advise me on changing the mouse, do your best to convince me, i am pretty dead set on that one. (why? Because it has allot of buttons like the G300 and even higher DPI) As for the keyboard, these are the preferences. Price: ~150€ or less. Keys: MX brow or red, or you can try to convince me to stay membrane. Layout: Nordic (meaning "ö", "ä", "å" keys must be present) Also NO ten key-less boards, (EDIT2: It needs to be a full keybeard, meaning nothing is taken off, arrow keys, del, end, home.....all in their default places, not integrated trough button combos.) i play games like DCS and Arma, and i am not that efficient with binding all my keys to one area. EDIT1: I only care about the fact the the keyboard is good for gaming, i do need it for typing as well but i am pretty sure that while i still need to look at the keyboard in order to type, i don't need one optimized for typing. I also don't really care about the color, or back-light, a plain look is preferred as opposed to something that will be more noticeable than my 32" TV. Details: I play FPS games mostly, BF4 (the G300 has difficulty at sniping/trying to be accurate, it takes noticeable steps when being moved slowly. I aim slowly to the left and instead of mimicking me, it jumps to the other side of the opponents head.) And yes i have tried messing around with the ingame settings, this also happens in ARMA 2 and 3. I also play Crysis 3 sometimes, and DCS A-10 C (i know the mouse isn't really meant to help me on the later one, i have a joystick for it) Borderlands 2, Sniper elite NZA2 and Skyrim Of course i play some Shogun 2 and Sins of a solar empire rebellion, but those don't need a top of the line mouse. Ask for more details and you shall receive. I am mainly looking for an option for the keyboard as i am cheap, and definitely not an expert on keyboards.

As the title says, i am planning on a complete peripheral overhaul, that means Mouse, Keyboard, Mouse-pad and even headphones. Current Mouse, Logitech G300 (i like it because it has so many buttons, if i am going to get something new it should have the same amount of buttons, i play ARMA 2-3. DPI? higher please. Size? slightly bigger :wub: ) price anything south 60€ if possible, although i am just in planning now so don't mind going over slightly. Keyboard, an OEM Emachines thing, it uses membranes (something with MX reds, for gaming mostly but i do type alot. otherwise as long as its Nordic and has a short LShift it is probably fine.) Price same as mouse. Mouse-pad, currently an office use mat. (anything is better pretty-much, for gaming size? i have a carpet already thanks.) 10€ max Headphones, creative Fatal1ty. (something better, Mobo Z77 Pro 3, on-board audio device). Price? same as mouse and KB. i am really getting tired of my current ones because the mouse is shuddering some times, the pad is distorting my mouse movements and probably capping it accuracy as well. The KB, well it is almost broken in half, but that's a whole different story, i have changed, i swear.

Inside is an Asus Z97, GTX 960, intel i7 4700K, 16GB corsair vengeance, rosewill photon 1050 80Plus gold, and 1TB HDD by Seagate. the new build is: Lian Li 011D XL case Aorus Z390 Master Aorus 2080 Super intel i9 9900K Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 32GB DDR4 3200 power supply from original build is being used HDD is coming over as well. I am aware that I need to wipe the HDD when moving from my current PC to my new CPU and MOBO so windows 10 doesn’t blue screen, but I have no clue how to go about doing this. My main question is, how to I move my hard drive and windows 10 from my current build to the new GPU/CPU/MOBO/RAM without corrupting it and needing to buy it again? I’m definitely new to the tech industry and custom PC building, and moving to a new PC is foreign territory for me. Thanks!

2007 White Macbook OVERHAUL! "probably not what you were expecting." ok so first of all my bad for the early post thing. there is also not a shot of the computer before... oops. i didn't initially intend to post this log but had enough pics and decided to. this is my white macbook from like '07 or '08 that has been running strong every since i purchased it. bear in mind i've kept this computer in as close to pristine condition as possible with a laptop that actually sees some travel. despite my precaution it seems there was at one point a spill to the keyboard which i was unaware of other than the fact that some of my keys stuck. <_< well enough talk lets get into what actually went down. this is probably the closest to stock picture i have. just runnin' some tests. knew this would be here hah, that cant be good! here too! so by this point i had the fan, hdd, odd out and really started thinking about what i was going to do. i then ending up deciding to replace the thermal paste on the heat sink, replace the fan, replace the speakers, and opted to leave out the odd in favor of adding more storage. here is everything basically gutted once i made the decision to wrap the whole thing in carbon fiber!! B) a fresh fan and some new speakers! man do these speakers go out quickly... the storage adapter i used with a tiny bit of modding. a couple of shots of the bottom case all wrapped up. and here it finally is, nearly complete! OS installed and ready to run some benchmarks. in the end i chose to run two hard drives (the original one and another salvaged from a dead computer) in RAID 0. i chose this configuration because it was what i had. in the future i may opt for an ssd/storage drive and with BF around the corner that may happen. this topcase though... this will have to go. i have been meaning to borrow a camera from a friend who owns a better one but haven't gotten around to it. when i get my hands on an SLR i'll snap some pics of the final product and what i ended up doing with the topcase. i will also post the specs then. i can post some benchmark stuff if anyone is interested. its nothing mind blowing though i'll say lol. look for updates!
