I was asked to get a cheap over-ear headset for someone, something with passable audio and a decent mic. Something that isn't completely terrible. My budget is around $20-50. Some of the options I've looked at were the Razer Kraken X and HyperX Stinger Core. It'll be mainly used for online video calls and casual content consumption. I've only looked at budget gaming headsets so far since they were the only decent options I could think of. If anybody can share their experiences with these or have better recommendations it'd be greatly appreciated.

i bought a pair of moondrop blessing 2 a few months ago and i hate it. it made me look at my dt990 pro in absolute disgust. and i was forced to sell the beyerdynamic on ebay for 60% of the price i bought it for. now i have room for a new pair of over-ear. and i narrowed my target to the following three: sennheiser hd600, audio-technica ath-r70x and hifiman sundara. i live in a small city. i can only find hd600 in my local audio stores. i listened to it and i felt quite mixed. human voice has such a full and satisfying timbre on these headphones. however, there is a lot of bass roll off and the sound stage is almost as narrow as a close-back. i'd like to know (preferably from owners) how r70x and sundara sounds. i know some of these (r70x in particular) are not very easy to drive. i'll do my homework on amps afterwards but first i'd like to hear your opinions on those three headphones assuming they are properly driven. cheers.

Hi all! So essentially, although I have the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x at home, I'm interested in buying a pair of headphones for $50 (or less) that I can use outdoors or for travel, preferably if they were over-ear. I'm open to all suggestions, as long as the headphones actually look good when you're wearing them, and that they, obviously, sound good (I'd rather not have over-powering bass, but I don't mind bass all that much). I need them to look good when I'm wearing them since I'll be taking this pair outdoors, and I don't want them to be some massive, bulky, weird looking cans. So far, all I've found are the m20x, which aren't bad, but I'm not sure about their aesthetics. I could use some more suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, Title says most of it, I'm looking to get a set of portable Over-Ear cans for on the go use, walking to from school and such. I've got the SHP9500's by Phillips and I LOVE them, comfort, sound signature are perfect.. The only problem with those is that they are a little big (for on the go use) and they are open-backed, which for on the go usage make the leaking an issue. I'm going to be running this off a Samsung Galaxy J3, no amp (maybe one in the future if needed). I'm looking to stay under the 100 dollar so so mark, plus points if under $70, willing to go a little above 100, but hoping to conserve some cash. Any recommendations?

Hi! So I´m looking to get a fairly decent pair of over-ear headphones, Mainly for listening to music. I´m looking for opinions on which are your favorite for listening to music, I´d really them to be heavy on the bass/good with base. I have to rigs and right now I own the Logitech G533 and the Major II Bluetooth headphones, so feel free to compare to them if that´s possible The budget max is 150$ Appreciate all the help I can get. Side note: I see a lot of people that use the audio-technica m50/40x headphones but from what I´ve found on them, they don´t really emphasize the bass that much, but rather a clarity in the audio. Is that right?

So it seems like this type of headphone is the best unless I want noise cancelling. I listen to a variety of music ranging from metal to casual songs. I'm also going to play games with it. What would be the best option with my budget? [Edited] I also want the headphone to have not much impedance so that I won't need an amp.

Hi Guys, Looking for the best quality and sound from a over-ear headphone. I have been looking at some Sennheiser and Audio technica ones, but still not too sure. Looking for a price around $160 (£130). This is going to be used on iPhones and Laptops. If you have any suggestions please go ahead and reply. Living in UK Thank you very much, and have a great christmas. Dec

Hey, I'm looking for a pair of warm sounding over ear headphones in the $300-400 price range. I'd like them to have some kind of a warm sound and reasonable bass ( It really hurts me when the sound is completely flat ), without sacrificing too much of clarity in Adele's songs etc. I hope that I described my type of headphones well, but just to be sure I'd probably listen mostly to music like these songs: The last but not least important criterium is the appearance. I'd love the headphones to look as sleek as possible, because apart from using it with laptop I'd listen to music while walking around the city. My two entry candidates are: Bang & Olufsen H6 -- These are IMO beautiful and I'm especially interested in but I haven't had any possibility to test them, so I'd like to know if they have rich and not flat sound Bose QC35 ( eventually 25) These headphones are quite on the expensive side so I'd like to know if they should be fine for me and if you have any other propositions. Thank you in advance for reading my "essay"!

I'm looking for something in an over-ear configuration with an open back and that's wireless. Does anyone have anything they would recommend?

Hey LTT Forum! I am planning to upgrade my headphones in a few weeks and am struggling to find one that I am satisfied with. So here I am, asking for your experience and recommendations... In terms of requirements; Less Than £200 Over-ear design I plan to use this strictly in my home so I don't care if they are open/closed backed. Bluetooth is not needed due to the extra cost and i don't care about impedance, as I will just buy an amp along with it (if needed). I do like my bass, so preferably I would like a pair that don't compromise it. Hopefully there is someone who can help me with this. And as always, thanks for the help :)

Hi y'all, I made an impulse buy with these fabulous AKG K92s! Here's my mini review Price: $59 USD, $79 CAD...36€!? Buy these if you're in Europe...seriously! Comfort: This is truly an over-ear headphone, that completely surrounds the ear unlike the Audio Technica M40x/M50x. It's very lightweight. The self-adjusting headband is a nuisance if you have a huge melon like mine. The pads are bit harder than I'd like. Overall, they're very comfy...especially if you don't have a huge melon. Build: Let's get the first thing out of the way: non removable cable that is wayyy too long! ARRRGGHHHHH!!!! Why AKG!? WHYYYYYY? Otherwise, this thing can really take a beating. It uses a metal headband and tough plastic parts. This headphone should easily last several years if you don't yank the cable and you leave it on your desk. Sound: The overall presentation is in your head, which isn't surprising considering that this is a closed headphone. The overall sound is very comparable to a modern Beats headphone...I have the Beats Solo 3 in mind. And that's amazing considering that they cost a fraction of the price of Beats. Heck, I'd even wager that the K92 is better than the M50x. This means that you'll get fun boosted bass, recessed mids and sparkly elevated treble. A typical "V-shape" frequency graph if you will. Fortunately, the highs are not annoyingly shrill and fatiguing...but there's still a little bit of grain (forgivable considering the price). The bass is slammin' and it doesn't sound muddy or slow. The K92 is surprisingly detailed for the price. You'll want to listen to rap, pop and electronic music with the K92. Because they're not so good for acoustic music. Listening to Animal Collective's Man of Oil, I noticed that the vocals lacked a lot of energy and that the background noises took over the song. I will confess that the mids are not the greatest on the AKG K92. Conclusion: If you ever lusted over $300 Beats, Bose or Sony headphones but could never justify the price, then look no further! The AKG K92 is a no-brainer. It's amazing how much you get for $60. I remember how the internet hyped the Superlux HD 681/HD 668B to the high heavens several years ago because they were about $30, even though the comfort and treble gave me migraines. I have none of these complaints with the AKG K92. That said, the K92 looks like a tough sell in the U.S.A. market because of the Status Audio CB-1 and the Monoprice Retro.

My four year old logitech g430's are finally wearing out and I'm looking to upgrade to a significantly better pair of headphones around $150. I'm looking for over-ear and preferably open back and wireless, however I wouldn't mind wired or closed, I don't need noise cancellation or a microphone but I wouldn't turn it down with them. This is my first time exploring the headphone market and the amount of options there appear to be is overwhelming, however the research I have done have led me to a couple of options. Sennheiser HD 4.40s, Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7s, Sony XB650BTs (there's so many different wireless sonys around this price) and CB3 Hush (from this article.) I plan to purchase around black friday/cybermonday deals and I'm mostly looking for more researched or experienced opinions. I have a behringer UM2 audio interface for my microphone that has "Powerful Phones output with Level control" the only specs I could find in the owner's guide is a 10-30kHz frequency response and 0 dBu max output. I have no dedicated soundcard and my MSI Z97 PC Mate motherboard has a Realtek ALC887 codec.

Hey guys, I need everyone's help to pick out a pair of headphones. My old Siberia V2s are starting to die and I'm looking for a replacement. I have, of course, found a lot of reviews online, but I would like some insight from a community I trust. A few general rules about the headphones: Must be around $50 (I can squeeze out a few more $ but that's my price-range) Must not be flashy (I don't want to stand out in a crowd) Must be over-ear (Basically I don't want them to sit on my ears as I use heaphones a lot. They should rest on my head) A mic would be nice (but not mandatory) Bluetooth would be REALLY nice but not mandatory (And as a cherry on top, the possibility to use a 3.5mm cable when the batteries are dead) I commute for a total of 2.5h on my bike every day and I listen to music at work for about 4h-5h on average. I have heard good things about the ATH m20x and m50x, Bluedio T2S, Ausdom M04, MDRZX770BT (which are a bit out of my price range) but their downsides vary from poor mic quality to cable length (Making them hard to use on a bike). Thank you for your suggestions in advance! EDIT: I generally listen to rock music. EDIT 2: I did read the recommended gear thread and the Monoprice 8323 do seem super tempting.

Hi again guys! The last audiogear i bought was the AKG K7XX Massdrop Edition. I love these, but this time i want a pair of headphones i can use outside of my home, on the go and in the public.Currently I have been watching some pretty standard headphones that people(maybe not the audiophiles) seem to like. Dont like earbuds and such since i cant find a pair that is comfy, good sounding and that stays in my ear These are the Sennheiser Momentum 2, Bose QC 25 and Bose QC 35. I have tried all of these, and altought they may not be the best bang for the buck in audio, i think they look nice and feel comfy. I dont want a big bulky pair of headphones so id like something like these. This is OK since i have a big bulky pair at home wich i love. Normally i would go for a none wireless pair of headphones, but i am thinking of buying the upcoming iPhone 7. And as the roumors says, it wont have a 3,5mm output. That's why im also considering the Bose QC 35, and when im thinking about it, it would be pretty nice with a pair of wireless headphones as well. So what do I want? Good looking pair of over-ear headphones to use in the public A pair that is comfy enought to wear for hours, like on a plane. Good audio, but doesnt need to be better than the K7XX I also kinda like the noise cancelling in the QC 25 and 35, but that isn't a must Optionally: Wireless Optionally: can use for workout Budget max: about the price of the QC 35, so about $350 in the US, but in Norway everything is more expensive, so a hundred dollars more ($450). But that is a maximum, and i dont really want to spend that kind of money, unless you guys can convince me otherwise. Thanks!

Hey there, I've been trying couple of so-called "over-ear" BT headphones from Amazon, JBL E50BT. some Phillips headphone for 40 bucks, one from "Anker" with great reviews and couple other I can't remember. They all s*cked, mainly because they weren't really "over-ear" (like the JBL which rested on my ears on top and bottom), or because they put a lot of pressure on my jaw (like the "Anker" and Phillips). My main concern is comfort, I have to be able to carry them multiple hours a day without pain. I don't care that much about sound quality and I don't want no super-boom-beats-bass. Battery life doesn't need to be very long. I don't want to wear them doing sports. I'm looking for maximum sized ear pads that may isolate a bit from outside noise, are very comfortable and don't hurt me. Preferably under $100. Please help me, I got a chronic disease and my neighbours drive me nuts with all the noise (yeah, I've talked to them already, but little luck). Thanks, Markuess.

I wanted to know what are the best headphones I can get for $150(CAD) or less. I play a lot of games and listen to a lot of music so, try to get headphones that are good for both. Edit: Don't need a mic with the headphones

Hi @ all, I am currently searching for a closed-back headphone, for both at home and on the go use. I already own a pair of open back Sennheiser HD558, which I really like. Yet, they are nothing for "on the go" and even though I really like more neutral headphones, for some genres, the could be a bit more punch in the low end (Not Beats by Dre level of punch, more like "notably present bass"). I once tried the AKG 550 (which are currently at their end of life I guess, 'cause you can get them dirt-cheap). Yet there is also the AKG 545 (which seem to be the same sound-wise, but foldable and witch a shorter cable) and the AKG 845 (which seems similar to the 545, but with bluetooth). My questions: Has anybody any experience with the headphones mentioned above (and can confirm that they are the same or similar comparing their sound) There 845 are Bluetooth 3.0, so no BT 4.0 LE. I have never owned any wireless headphones. How bad is the loss in audio quality and can it be negligible, taking into account that on the go music will be from Spotify anyway and there is probably some background noise, so things don't need to be as crystal? What about additional powerdraw on the phone (regarding its not the Low Energy standard) And finally: besides above questions, what are your personal recommendations for portable over-ear headphones (bluetooth or not) in the max. 200-ish area? Best regards and thanks for any insight Chris

Hi everyone, New to the forum so hope this is the right area! As you know Christmas is coming up, and I want to ask for some new headphones (preferably over-the-ear). Their primary use will be for listening to music from my phone (iPhone) and laptop (Macbook Pro) - and for my PS4. With regards to connectivity, wired or bluetooth, I'm not too fussed. Budget is £100. ----------------------------------- I've only ever used Apple Earpods and Xiaomi Pistons before - then when I bought my Macbook I got a free pair of Beat Solo's and I was blown away by how much better they sounded than the 2 earphones I just mentioned. However, I understand that Beats (especially Solo's) are not that hard to beat - no pun intended So I guess what I'm asking is: What's the best pair of over-ear headphones, that will sound better than Beat solo's, for £100? ----------------------------------- Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you!

I would like some opinions from young people/teens/college students etc. Is it dumb to wear Over-ear headphones at public? (If they look good. (as example Sony MDR 1R)) Do I look like a complete dork/nerd if I do so? (I never see people wear over-ears in public here...)

I am looking for the best Over-Ear Noise cancelling, bluetooth, reachable battery, headphone with a mic on the market. The mic doesn't have to be gaming quality, I'd rather have better quality sound. Open to all suggestions and am in the U.S. thanks!

I'd like your recommendations on some Sennheiser's over-ear headphones (the reason I'm so brand-specific isn't because I'm ignorant of other brands, it's just that I can get a really good deal on Sennheiser headphones at this time).Anyway, I'd like them to be over-ear, big-ass drivers are also welcome since I have big ears, but I'll consider all inputs.I'd mainly use them to listen to music.I'm fairly flexible about the price since I can get a deal.Thank you in advance.

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some nice wireless over-ear headphones to enjoy some music on the go. I'm mainly listening to classic and some breakbeat like this. I was looking at the Sennheiser Momentum Wireless but it's currently very hard to get in Germany and I would prefer something I can order via amazon since I really like their customer service when it comes to warranty questions. Active noise canceling is not really wanted (if everything else is great I would still give it a try), a mic would be okay but it is not necessary, budget is around 500 € but can be adjusted if necessary. So, recommendations anyone?

Hi all, I'm currently looking for new headphones as my current ones are breaking slowly... Very slowly. I currently have Sharkoon Xtatic Digital 5.1. (analogue). I've had them for well over 5 years, but now the bass is cutting out often, and the left speaker is becoming quite. It also produces static if the Windows volume is over 19% which I have to lower by 1% every 1-2 months. They have been through a lot. From dropping them, to my cats having them as a feast, to the pins bending. It's about time they retire. So, I have a dedicated internal sound card that I am more than pleased with. Asus Essence STX II 7.1. I don't think the rest of my specs are needed, but if the are then I'll add them later, or you can find them on my page if needed. I need headphones that work well in games, but even better when listening to music. They MUST be analogue and true 5.1 / 7.1 surround sound. None of this USB or virtual rubbish. I would also like them to be over ear. I get pain if they are on ear, or in-ear. I play games often and love what 5.1 offers, it makes you apart of them game and I need to keep that. I also listen to a lot of music. When I'm not working then I'm either gaming, listening to music or watching anime. So headphones are a big part of my personal life. I listen to bassy music and love a good bit of base in game. I absolutely adore base. Base is love, base is life. I completely understand that bass can interfere with a gaming session. Like a frag grenade can over power every other sound in a game. That's not good, however in music the bass is a must. So in short I need a pair of headphones that can complete both tasks, rather than shining at one and lacking on the other. again, let me know if you need any more information regarding my system, headphones or general information. I have no idea what I'm looking for as I'm no expert, far from it. I'm just a consumer hoping to find what works best for me. My budget is around £100-200, £250 maximum. There must be an absolutely good reason to hit £250. I hope you can all help me 'cos it seems as if I'm unable to help myself!
