I'm planning a build for streaming games, but currently I have a fairly new 1080p 60 hertz monitor that I still want to get life out of. Most of the games I play (indie games) aren't super intensive, but I do want to be able to render my stream layout without any issues. What would be a good middle-of-the-road GPU that would suit me well for a few years until I eventually upgrade to 4k down the line? Would it be worth getting a higher end graphics card and just sitting on it until I upgrade my monitor? This is my first PC build, and I'd appreciete some pointers! For reference, my total budget for the build is $2,500

Greetings Linus Tech Tips, This is my first question/post/comment to your forum, I have been watching your channel for years and mostly like what you do as I enjoy your reviews, thoughts, and ideas as they represent a non-biased observational real-world opinion. I have been working in the IT world since the late 70's and have seen many things come and go. Although I may be “long in the tooth” I provide tech support to a fair number of clients I try to stay up to date on what's new and upcoming as learning is what keeps us alive, for once you stop learning what’s the point of living?? Being that I was an early adopter of SSD drives and had several of the very early SATA & M.2 drives and I quickly learned how drive health would wither rapidly from just normal regular use. Now that we are several years into this new storage medium with SSD having better drive health management, we all know that caching and defragging SSD’s is problematic. So, knowing this fact why is it that "Windows 10/11" drive utility still wants to "optimize" SSDs by default, and is there a difference between Optimize and Defrag??? Asking for a friend!! LOL I would love to hear what insight can you give us on the Optimize vs Defragging subject?? PS what are your picks for the top hard drive utilities for SSD?? Thanks in advance, [PII mod removed]

just to let you know i am running windows: i was wondering if i where to ignore the PL2 and try to keep it PL1 65 watts would that be better for performance or should i undervolt it or should i even stop it from jumping to PL2 level of power usage

Can anyine explain what does Windows Drive Optimization do to SSD. Does it defrag it or trim it? Also after optimization it shows that my hdd is being trimmed. Why is my hdd being trimmed?

So here's what I got running perfectly a okaaayyy: Corsair EVGA 850x supernova G3 PSU Corsair cryogenic cooling Asus ROG strix x299-e Gaming motherboard Intel Core i9920X 12 core NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 8Gb Super founders edition 64 gigs ddr4 3200Mhz corsair ram 512GB Samsung 970Pro NVMe M.2 32GB intel optane memory PCIE M.2 80MM 2TB Seagate Barracuda 3.5 sata hdd Windows 10 Professional What I intended to add was 4 - 2TB WD black 3.5 sata hdd's in RAID 10 for back up and faster game loads. I originally had a 2 terabyte barracuda HDD, which I believe uses smr storage, with intel 32gb optane memory to boost it. I went out of my way to add 4 WD black 2 terabyte cmr HDD's to run in RAID 10 with optane memory to boost that instead. Come to find out intel optane memory does not work on RAID 10 or any raid for some reason, isn't that just peachy......... So my dilemma is now what?? Is my RAID 10 set up better than than the barracuda with optane enabled? is there a way to force otane to work with my RAID setup? Should I put the game launchers on the barracuda with optane and keep game data in the raid array? Should I ditch raid 10 and run raid 0? Should I sell the optane memory and get another mv.2 ssd and run that in RAID for just the boot drive. Should I get another optane and run the two in raid 0 as my boot drive keeping RAID 10 for games and speed? Do I even need RAID 10? Should I be using RAID 0. Should I sell my kidneys? Why is air cooling better than water cooling? This Sounds Too Good to be True - God-Tier Thermal Pad. The Ruthless Economy PC. This BIZARRE Chinese Motherboard has a Graphics Card in it! As you can tell I've watched way to many linus videos and googled myself into a brick wall. So really what is my best way to optimize my hardware. maybe even force optane to work with RAID 0 with 2 of the drives and use the rest for backup? Maybe return 2 of the hdd's and get ssd's instead, or return all of them and get Raid 0 ssd's and use the 2tb as a back up. Or 1 large ssd with optane memory and the 2TB as a back up for important files? Does optane even help with large 64 gig games? Oh boy here it goes again....... Please somepeoples help meeeeeeee. The new Drives cost 396$ U.S green backs so perhaps there is a much better option than anything just tried to do.

Budget (including currency): TBD Country: Italy Games, programs, or workloads that it will be used for: A videogame, OBS, and Adobe Audition running simultaneously, then I work in Premiere Pro and After Effects. Other details: Currently, my system is configured as follows: AMD - Ryzen 5 3600 xt MSI - b450 Tomahawk max Corsair - Vengeance LPX - 16 GB (2 X 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz C16 XFX - RX 5600 XT Thicc III ULTRA Corsair - RM650x (650w) My current monitor is an old-ass Sharp tv, 1080p 60hz. So, my problem is as simple as finicky: I want to upgrade and don't want to waste too much money, so far easy. But I also would like to meet a requirement: Recording gameplay of AAA titles at 1080p, at least medium settings, or most likely something gravitating around medium. I am willing to buy used, (DM me!) But I'm not willing to pay MSRP for used, please go scalp someone else. ( alsoyou c: ) As a target, I was thinking of playing things like God of War: Ragnarok and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. I'm not sure I can though, especially for GOW:R I tried recording God of war 2018 and it was kind of impossible, thanks to Sony not giving a shit about optimizing ports, not expecting this one to be any better, My questions stand as such: What should I upgrade next? What should I prioritize? Is the RAM still enough? Is it time to retire my CPU? Is it time to switch to an Nvidia card (rhetoric question, I do need a GPU that doesn't soil itself in software applications)

Hi, i’ve been running 2x 2560x1440p monitors at 240hz and 144hz about 2 years now and they have both always been plugged into my poor, poor 2070 super. And it just hit me that the secound monitor that is mostly used for youtube and such could run at 60hz 2560x1440p and i could save some gpu performance. But what if i plug that monitor direcly into the motherboard, would i be able to run it at the same resolution only at lower hz without impacting cpu performance? im using display port

Hoping someone can point me in the right direct to learning how to optimize my video settings across 3 displays. I know nothing about this and I think my current settings could be improved. Performance currently seems fine even while gaming and having other screens playing video ect but I think quality could be improved. I game on the Dell GSYNC monitor, video usually on the 4K TV but I do switch around. Video card: EVGA NVidia GTX 960 SSC 4GB http://www.evga.com/articles/00895/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-960/ Display 1: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00847TYYO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Display 2:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IOO4SGK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Display 3: https://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-SmartCast-E50u-D2-Theater-resolution/dp/B01L5VZWL4/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486951193&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=VIZIO+SmartCast+E-Series+48"+Class+(47.51"+Diag.)+4K+Ultra+HD+2160p+120Hz+Smart+Home+Theater+Display+w%2F+Chromecast+built-in+(E48u-D0) TV/GSYNC monitors are using an HDMI cord while the HP monitor has a DVI-I. Goals: Know how to optimize setting for quality across each display. Program? Existing guide? Anything would be appreciated.

Does anyone know if I can get Plex to optimize only media that would normally require conversion? Or do I need to manually check each one if it requires conversion and then optimize? Some of my media is the wrong format, so my old server will struggle to convert and then stream media live. Obviously the solution is to optimize those files, however I do not want to have to optimize my whole library.

I have recently discovered that my system was only using about 40% of my memory resources. I fixed the issue with less of my resident RAM, but I was wondering what the best setting for VRAM is? How can I get the most performance out of VRAM allocation? The second question I had was, if I want the computer to know exactly how many CPUs to account for, should I include GPUs? Finally, do multiple core processors count as multiple CPUs? I think a lot of people could use the answer to these questions. Please help!

Here is my current build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Krazycat/saved/Kqhw6h So, I'm looking to clear up some space on my 850 Evo and wanted to migrate my OS to a new ssd, specifically an M.2. I'm a total noob when it comes to storage and relatively green with PC building in general but I'm learning. I'm looking for advice on what to do. I'd like to get a smaller M.2, like MP500 120Gb, simply to put the os on. I mostly use my system for gaming, browsing, work online (not storage dependant), some media, and light photoshop on occasion. I'd like to stay under $200 USD for this upgrade. A couple questions here. Should I just fork over the cash for something like 970Pro 512gb or EVO 500Gb and migrate my os and store more games on it? or just get 1Tb Sata and boost my overall ssd space? My pc is pretty snappy as it is but want to have space for games and programs. I7 is OC'd to 4.5 and GPU is OC'd to +135Mhz core with 300mhz mem. HDD is used for storing Pics, Videos, Docs, etc. anything not really reliant on quick loads. Current SSD contains OS, Steam and other game launchers, and most of my programs. Any recommendations on the best way to organize my storage and what would be the best bang for my buck is appreciated. TIA!

Hello, I`m new on this forum, will try to help out where I can with what info I have or I can try. Just moved to US, CA, from Europe originally. I love computer parts, adjusting them, improving etc and experiment, as well as make the perfect sweetspot builds. For now, i left most things behind except my laptops, one a gaming 1060 old one & another a Mac (huh?). But as soon as papers are done I`ll start getting back into desktop play though, meanwhile helping members troubleshoot if I can. i`m more into silent PCs lately, as slick as possible without RGB, inconspicuous is my target. I do however appreciate a good RGB build. Thanks for your time.

Hello, I have a rig with an i5-4570 paired with a GTX1060 6GB exoc white and 8Gb ram. I have seen videos which say this build should be able to pull of 60fps at 1080p. Which is what I am aiming for as I am fairly budget and have slowly been upgrading bit by bit. But I often struggle to play games at a framerate i'd like to, sometimes even on default 'medium' settings. (I play Assassins Creeed Odyssey, NFS Payback, Sims 4 amongst other seldom played games) I have an uncertainty over whether my cpu is bottlenecking my build, or whether I am asking too much from the graphics of my games when I play, in terms of settings. From what I can tell settings are quite important for games and how important they are. Could I know what settings I should look out for when tuning specifically for my rig? And if I were to upgrade cpu, I wouldn't be able to afford a new motherboard, so I'd trade my CPU for a i7-47XX. Would y'all recommend me doing that?

I've got a Ryzen 5 3600 with some Corsair Vengeance 3000 MHz memory, an RTX 2070 Super, and an Aorus X570 motherboard. I just booted up Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and I'm still only averaging 30-40 FPS at 1080p. Is there anything I'm supposed to be doing to make sure this run smoother? I'm not exactly a genius at this stuff, but I don't think I'm dumb either.

Hello LTT community. I have recently been fooling around with riva tuner statistics to see what my hardware does when I'm gaming. I mostly play CS:GO and here i discovered that not all of my CPU usage is centered towards this game. Is there a way to force my CPU into either using a higher percentage on all cores or to force the game to have 100% usage on any of my cores? I currently have a gtx 1060 6gb, 16gb of ddr4 ram and an intel i5 7400 CPU. My goal is to have a steady +144 FPS to go with my 144 hz monitor. I attached two pictures of my usage when ingame.

My wife's computer has had some serious performance problems as of late. I recently upgraded her GPU and intend to install an SSD for Christmas. I was wondering if after I finish said upgrades if I would see any noticeable gain by also upgrading her cpu. Before any upgrades were made she was running the following. Windows 7 (ya ya I know it's not 10) FX-6300 16Gb ddr3 (not sure on freq) Evga gtx660ti And a 1tb hdd that has had i/o degradation over time I've swapped her 660 for an EVGA gtx970 SSC and this Christmas she will be getting a Samsung 860 evo 1tb l know those 2 changes are going to make a huge difference in performance compared to what shes use to. However with the new hardware how much is the fx6300 holding her back and would she see a noticeable difference with something like an fx8350? Yes I know she would see speed differences with windows 10 especially boot times which is her largest complaint but I really don't feel like listening to her complain about learning a new os yet. Thanks for the help

So this is my first time ever posting in a forum so I apologize for not knowing too much about how this works. I'm looking to upgrade my gaming PC and know a small bit about systems and how they work but not enough to know if I'm truly optimizing my PC. I will be gaming 90% of the time on it but would like the ability to multi-task as needed. I can only game at 1080p at the moment, but would like the ability to game at 4k (and at least at 60hz) without having to buy a new part in the near future. My parts list is here - https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Vacancy1721/saved/#view=wY8RsY I was wondering if anyone could look at it and let me know if these parts would make a good build that would last a couple years before needing an upgrade or if I could use better parts. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hello everyone! I need advice about what to do to increase the performance on Windows 10 installed on a Dell Inspiron 1545... The laptop is running a brand new installation of W10 but it turns hot and slow when I open 2 or 3 things at once... What can I do to improve the situation? Buying an SSD is not an option here. Apart of the operating system it has MS Office 2016 and Dropbox installed

I'm somehow dropping frames in Fallout 4, which is insane..

I recently bought and installed a new Samsung 850 Evo SSD. Everything was running amazingly well until I downloaded Samsung Magician to optimize the SSD. My system will now longer shut down and there is no way to reverse the optimization. Also, for whatever reason System Restore was turned off so I don't have anything to go back to. I contacted Samsung and they told me to just do a secure erase which I really don't want to do. I asked them if I had any other options and they were just not interested. When I power down my system the message comes up for my system shutting down then my monitors go to sleep, but all the fans and HDD's are still running. Now the only option I have is to hold down the power button which I fear is doing damage to my system. I'm running Windows 10 (64-bit). Is there anything I can try to fix this issue or will I have to do a secure erase? What about resetting Windows to factory settings and keeping my data? Thanks!
