My pc is struggling to run games like fortnite at 144 fps. I also have a lot of input delay. Is it worth it to get a custom OS like atlas OS?

I'm trying to install windows 10 to an old pc I had from 2016, specs being i5-7400 and a gtx 1060ti. The old ssd died and now I'm trying to install the OS on an HDD (we're tryna cheap out) from a USB, but as seen in the photo it's stuck there for a while now. It's the very beginning, right after choosing whether the 32 or 64 bit. Is it just taking long? This is like the very beginning, no text has been seen

I've been looking up if Transformers: War for Cybertron is compatible with modern pc hardware and software(Windows 11) as it is a decade old. I found out that it has SecuRom v07.42.0001 on it and that this application could possibly stop the game from running on my pc because Microsoft dropped support for it. So I'm just wondering if I can not play the game because I am planning on getting the dvd. (I am also using an external Asus Zendrive to run it.)

So, i decided to finally switch to POP OS with my Acer Nitro 5 after watching LTT switched to Linux videos. I just YOLO'd it and purchased a brand new m.2 drive and installed the os on it instead of using my old drive. Long story short, I was wondering if it is possible to simply put my original drive into an external enclosure and boot from it without doing any prep work?

I'm about to buy a 2014 Ford Edge, and I was wondering if anyone's ever tried to get Linux or a different version of Windows on one of these Ford systems. I can't find anything online about anyone doing this, but the preliminary research I've done online has revealed that Microsoft used Windows Embedded Automotive for Sync. The system has 2 USB 2.0 ports and an SD reader. I'm pretty sure the SD card reader contains the map data, and updates to the system are issued via flash drive. Seems like there should be a way to highjack the bootloader for the flashdrive and put another OS on there.

Hi all, I'm here to get some advice on resetting Windows. I'll be intending to do a soft reset - the method that (supposedly) leaves most non-program files intact. I've decided to do this as a result of a lot of software clutter that's built up on this system for a few years now; so much so, that the system has moments where it'll freeze up and hang for about half a second on seemingly nothing, and because the list of possible culprits is unreasonably long, I find myself preferring to just reset everything instead. That said, it's still a painful process. Windows tells you all the programs it's going to uninstall, sure, but ever since I did it on one of my laptops, I've had the feeling that there has to be some way, somehow, to make the endeavor at least a litte less tedious. Any tips anyone can provide are appreciated, and I'm willing to answer questions within reason.

Hey, so I am thinking to move my operating system installed NVME M.2 drive in an external enclosure instead of motherboard M.2 slot. The main reason is so that my windows can't inject code to other operating systems and mess them up. Do you think it is practical or any better suggestion to achieve the main goal?

Hello I am having issues and need help. I changed the case my pc is in to help build the S.O's pc. It will not boot to windows. I've tried toggling CSM, fast boot is off, os type is windows uefi, BBS priority is set to the drive with windows (m.2), no over clocks or anything is set, I tried unplugging other drives (ssd, hdd). I have no idea what to do. in the bios it sees all of my hardware (M.2, SSD). I dont know what to try next, please help. Spec - Ssupd meshlishous, Impact 8, Strix 3070, 850 cooler master sfx, Ek-aio 240mm + A12 fans, Samsung 1tb ssd, Crucial 1tb m.2 (with windows), Seagate barracuda 2tb. Changes from old build NR200 -> ssupd, 2tb Seagate hdd-> out, 4x Stella 120mm fans -> out, When i dont hit delete and let it try to post the screen sais "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" Any and all guidance would be greatly appreciated.

So while I was doing some multitasking work on my pc it froze up. This has happened before so I did a hard reboot like usual but when the pc started up again it could find the OS and I was greeted with a blue screen and an error code (see images). I got a windows repair drive but it couldn’t find an issue and viewing my boot drive says it still detects the drive my OS is on (an M.2 drive I installed a few months ago). The motherboard has error lights on for VGA and BOOT (see images). Does anyone know a way to fix this without reinstalling my OS. There are some very important files on there that I don’t have a backup of. Thank you.

I have an 8TB and a 3TB HDD along with a 128gb SSD. 64gb of DDR3 RAM. TLDR; First time home server owner. Want a straightforward experience with little need to tinker for home media. I’m tech savvy not but not too savvy with home server creation. I’ve fiddled with Windows Server, Windows 10 Pro, and Ubuntu. Here’s are my asks. - Has a GUI - Is “easy” to use - Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, server dashboard like Heimdall - Is free - Can run a minecraft server for friends without exposing massive security holes - Remote Desktop accessible I know most all of those OS’ can do those things, but I’m wondering what would make it the most straight forward to operate. I wasn’t a fan of windows because I ran into too many issues with Docker Desktop and permissions problems. But it handled the rest very easily with just installing executables. I wasn’t a fan of Ubuntu because apparently Wayland breaks Remote Desktop and makes it unusable. I am leaning Ubuntu though because if I can get past the Remote Desktop issues and just SSH then I can access things through a web gui and solve that problem. So, should I suck up my problems with those and push through? Or is there an alternative that might fit better? Thanks

I have a Xiaomi Redmi note 11 pro 4G and I hard reset it 2 days ago. I don't remember neither it's screen lock password nor the signed in google account because i didn't use the phone for a couple months. I did try all my google account but it's not the account which was signed in the phone. I did try to formating the phone remotely but it says "not allowed in locked state", the same error appears when i try to erase the user data. Now I can't unlocked the phone. I did try all the apps that claim to remove the google frp but it has to be purchased to use the app. Is there any other way to unlock the phone?

Hello guys, I built a PC recently, it entered bios, motherboard didn't show any led warnings, all parts are compatible! CPU temps avg 28-30c° but I couldn't install any OS on it. I ran the first usb drive with windows... It got stuck in windows "installing". Mouse didn't move at all and CRT +ALT+ DEL didn't respond. I changed to multiple USB with different windows installations same results, I even tried an official CD from Microsoft. Next I tried installing Linux. POP OS 76... I ran the "install now" command and it abruptly shut down the PC. In every run and different USB drives it was the same process. I tried elementary OS. And it just couldn't even boot bios. My last resort was installing ARCH LINUX. After using a USB Thumb drive/ISO it ran (Arch Linux archiso x86_UEFI USB) correctly for a couple of seconds) and then it froze. On the second run I could get passed (Arch Linux archiso x86_UEFI USB) and it just shut down the whole PC. Everything related to Linux just shuts down the PC and windows just got stuck on the few steps of the installation (for windows I couldn't get to chose on which storage to install the system) If someone can help me it would be nice. on my most recent build im having trouble installing an OS at all onto the machine. so far i have attempted to use a USB stick to install windows with the installation tool from the Microsoft website. i have also tried to use Ubuntu on a USB. i have followed several tutorials, re-seated the CPU and ram. the only thing i haven't yet done is use different drives. i have tried using different USB sticks and i keep getting fail messages from windows. and the time i attempted to install Ubuntu it froze to the point i had to turn off the power supply. I have no clue what I should try next or if I i have a dead part somewhere. any advice is appreciated

I was wondering if I could run Windows 10 and Linux at the same time and just press a key bind on my keyboard to switch between them. I've seen tutorials on how to do this but they require the user to reboot in order to change, I want to boot both of them simultaneously and then switch without having to reboot and vice versa. I don't know if this will have a big performance hit because the system is running two OSs but I wouldn't have thought so because Linux is very lightweight and can run on almost anything. I want to run the Linux distro "PoP! OS" because its better for gaming and looks like Ubuntu. Please let me know if I can somehow do this.

Hi there, Been struggling with my pc recently, was hoping someone would be able to help. I first noticed something was wrong when my hdd did not show up in the windows file manager(not my main drive), I have windows installed on another drive (ssd). I decided to ignore it and hope it might show up I then proceeded to open a few tabs on chrome and then a few minutes later the pc froze and then i lost display output and then got a BSOD (Stop code critical process died). since then it has struggled to restart sometimes taking a few tries, lights will come on but no output to monitor or peripherals, i then switch it off by holding the power button and try again. Every 3 or so tries it will manage to boot to windows only to freeze a few minutes later. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've never experienced this before so I'm at a loss. The issue is 2 specific apps, important monitoring apps, are being auto closed by the OS (Windows 10) when my system switches to battery power. It's not like the OS is closing everything that requires a lot of processing and/or power draw because games and stress tests continue running, it's just these 2 apps that run in the background and barely take up any processing power at all and no other background apps close, it's only these 2. So, does anyone know of a way to set apps as a priority or something similar so they don't get closed automatically? [Solved] After 5-6 days of messing around, dozens of posts on different platforms and forums, even contacting Micro$oft support (Haha, I'll get a reply next year), I suddenly noticed a greyed out box in Task Scheduler: "Stop if system switches to battery power", but it's unchecked and greyed out because it's connected to a master option above "Only start task if the system is on AC power". Now, this is grey out and unchecked so it wouldn't make any difference if I checked both boxes, then immediately unchecked them again and saved, that would possibly fix the issue because that wouldn't make any sense at all... so of course it fixed it. Why? Because Windows 10, that's why.

os Does the operating system of a server matter

platform switch impacts operating system
BottomLack posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Quick question: Does a switch from AM3+ to AM4 without exchanging my storage force me to reinstall windows? I remember that one LTT video about them pirating windows because they'd have to buy a new product key every time they make a fundamental change to their setup (e.g. exchanging the MoBo) for benchmarking purposes. -
I've been recently having issues with the computer I recently built. The problems are lately the USB ports in the I/O panel of the motherboard cannot seem to recognize some my USB storage devices such as my flash drive and phone, strangely they seem to work fine with other devices such as my mouse, keyboard, headset and webcam. I have tried almost everything from: uninstalling and re-installing the drives, disable them and re-enable them back afterwards. The other problem is that whenever I to launch disk management from either the command prompt or directly from the computer management shortcut the following message appears: "An internal error occurred. Please restart the Disk management snap-in". I did as it told me and went to MMC, ran it as administrator and added the snap-in to the console, however when I was about to save it the same error appeared. I also ran sfc / scannow from the command prompt and it said that there were some errors that it couldn't fix, leading me to believe that there might me problem with the hard drive itself rather than Windows, however I'm not able to tell. I also forgot to mention that the hard drive that I'm using is 6 years old as I'm unable to buy an SSD at the moment. I have no problem with backing my data to a secondary hard drive and doing a clean install again but I don't want to do it unless I am absolutely sure that there's no other solution out there. Detailed answers are preferred but other answers are certainly welcome. Thank you
