I had a usb headphone. That headphone had a crackling sound on my pc but not on my laptop. Now I bought another headphone with 3.5mm audio input. Even that headphones had crackling sound on my pc but not on my laptop or even mobile. That headphone came with 3.5mm to usb adapter. When using that adapter, my pc showed similar crackling. I know that usb to audio adapters or usb headphones have their built-in DAC so it doesn't matter what is the condition of the onboard sound. So the problem isn't with the onboard sound. So what are your opinions where is the problem coming from. My headphones are completely ok on my laptop and mobile. I'm using core i5-2500, Gigabyte H67MA-D2H motherboard. I know its an old motherboard. Secondly i get very mediocre speeds on my usb port like 1-2MB/s max.

Hi, I got an old Pc from a friend and it has a MSI 970A G43 Mobo alongside a FX6300 and a GTX750 wich i put in there since it came without a gpu. The problem is I dont get any sound from the Backpanel and prontpanel pins but it detects them when i plug them in. I tried reinstalling windows and installing the realtek drivers from the msi and realtek websites but they dont help. I tested my headphones to the work without any problems on my laptop and tried even a second pair of headphones. I get audio from HDMI though the Nvidia drivers but thats the only audio i get from the PC. I looked into the BIOS and the Onboard sound was enabled and i even reset the bios but nothing worked yet. Specs: MSI 970A G43 FX 6300 16GB DDR3-1600 1TH WD HDD Geforce GTX750 1GB

Hi everyone, Apologies if this is a noob question, or one that's been answered before. I'm building my first PC soon and as I don't have an endless supply of money I'm going to cannibalize some of my old components from my current pre-built PC. My question is this: My new motherboard is a Strix Z270E. My existing PC has a Sound Blaster Recon 3D (http://uk.creative.com/p/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-recon3d-pcie) which is probably rather dated by now. Does anyone have any advice on whether I should bother adding it to the new build or is the onboard better? I'm no audiophile but I do like my games to sound good. I have Logitech Z506 5.1 speakers and I like the fact that at the moment I can hear when my enemies are behind me :-) I realise I could probably do better with an external DAC but alas I need to keep in budget, maybe one day...

Hey guys, Recently built a new Ryzen PC, but am having some audio issues with my front IO. Like what the title says, changing the windows master volume does not seem to change the headphone volume on my front headphone jack, which seems to be constantly pinned on 100%. This is even after Re-installing latest drivers from the manufacturers website. Volume on the back IO is fine. Below are some observations that I have made: 1. Realtek HD Audio manager (default settings) does not recognise it when my headphone or mic is plugged in at the front - the front panel ports remain greyed out when the plugs are in - headphone works, but is constantly blasting at full volume - Mic is not recognised in skype or audacity, so cannot be used or tested in this scenario 2. When I disable front audio jack detection in audio manager, both jacks are never greyed out and - headphone works, but is constantly blasting at full volume (no change) - Mic can now be detected in audacity I have tested this with a different front IO panel and the same symptom is found. Below are my specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 1500x Mobo: ASRock AB350 Pro4 AM4 ATX Motherboard RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR4 2400MHz GPU: Gigabyte GTX1060 HDD: Seagate ST1000DM010 1TB BarraCuda 3.5" SSD: Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB PSU: Antec VP-600P Case: Gigabyte 3d Aurora (yes, old case - also tested front (Top) IO from ft03 mini) OS: Win 10 Pro x64 I think I've ruled out an issue with the case, could this be an early driver issue, or could it possibly be a mobo hardware defect? What do you guys think? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone: I just rebuilt my PC, so I picked up a new motherboard. I got an ASUS Z-170K, and unfortunately the onboard sound is god awful. I have HD 598s, and they went from sounding very crisp, to very tinny. Now, all audi sounds blurred or muffled. Would a DAC, or an AMP fix this? I assume a DAC, because to my knowledge, the HD 598s do not usually need an amp, correct? Anyways, this is what I am looking at, as it is the least expensive option: https://schiit.com/products/magni-2 Would this correct the issue, or this this the wrong product?

EDIT: Restarting the PC in safe mode without audio enabled results in electrical noise when moving the mouse. I guess the new GPU has resulted in additional electrical noise within the system so that the onboard soundcard can no longer block it out as it could with the previous GPU. But that is just a guess! Hi, I recently build a PC with an MSI B450 Carbon AC and Ryzen 2700. Ive been using it for about a month without a single issue and was really happy about it. I did not have any audio issues back then. Two weeks ago I installed an RX 5700XT Red Devil as the new GPU and have not used my headphones since, because I have a quite good audio system which is connected via USB and his its own soundcard. Today I had to use my headphones again and a USB mic because of a Discord conference. Plugging the headphones into the mainboard, I instantly noticed the static sound and was quite pissed about it. As I joined the Discord call the others said that my microphone also has a static noise. After that I tested it in Audacity and yes, a loud as fuck electrical noise, probably the same as in my headphones, is audible. Keep in mind, the only thing I changed compared to when it worked was a new GPU! I already reinstalled the realtek audio drivers 2 times directly from the MSI website. That was when I noticed that the static stops as soon as the driver is uninstalled and prompts me to restart my PC. After the inital post and before windows is loaded fully, no static is heard in the headphones. Only after the Windows login screen is visible the static starts to play. Thats why Im guessing that the audio drivers are to blame for it, but Im not so sure about it. Has anyone else had this issue? All fixed I found online have not helped to far.

Recently I posted that I was looking for a good internal sound card. After reading the feedback, I concluded that internal sound cards are old-tech and external is the way to go. So, I have reached a new dilemma. I was looking at upgrading from my current computer speakers (Creative Labs - Inspire 7.1 Surround Sound Speaker System (8-Piece)) to more of a home theater experience. Right now I have my eye on the Klipsch 600m bookshelf speaker pair. They have a 100W RMS, 400W peak. The creative labs external X7 DAC (Limited Edition) I was looking at only outputs about 50W per channel, so that's out. What I have found is that a lot of people hookup A/V receivers to their computers. If this is the next best method, I do not plan on using the A/V receiver for anything else besides audio. Yes, I plan on stocking up on more Klipsch speakers but I would start here. The A/V receiver I am looking at is... - Onkyo TX-RZ820 THX-Certified 7.2-Channel 4K Network A/V Receiver So, my first question is, does this method work? My initial thoughts are once I rebuild my PC, I was going to use the S/PDIF out and into the receiver for audio signal. I am looking to buy the GIGABYTE AORUS Extreme (https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813145158) when I do my rebuild (expected CPU: Ryzen 9 3950X, for those who are interested). Should I use the S/PDIF coming off that motherboard or should I invest in an EVGA Nu Pro and use that for signal? Also, how would tuning work? Would the software for the EVGA interfere with the manual tuning built into the receiver itself? Will it be a mixture of the two? Intentions: - I am trying to build a killer 7.1-11.2 channel surround sound system for my PC because I listen to a lot of music, watch a lot of movies and use multiple streaming platforms (mainly Prime and Netflix). However, as a hobby I am a podcaster and content creator so I want quality audio when working on this as well. Does anyone have any other suggestions or methods for an amazing, albeit overkill, audio experience. Computer speaker kits in stores and online are junky cheap rip offs. I'm trying to go hard and go home, lol.

Afternoon guys, Got an issue which is really starting to grind my gears. I've a machine with a i5, 6gb ddr3, and just recently a zotac gtx 1050. I have the onboard realtek 5.1 config going out to my arcam DAC, and I get loads of interference from the GPU under load. Whining and buzzing when I switch between sheeting like v sync, AA and Anis-filtering. I also get interference whenever any graphical change occurs when on the desktop, mouse movements, scrolling or whatever. Normal stuff. I've recently added a xonar dgx sound card, and I'm still getting the same interference as before, under the same 5.1 config, and it's placed 3 PCI slots away from the 1050 I've tried the spdif on the card, and I'm getting very little interference, namely internal DAC interference, but it only outputs 2 channel over spdif annoyingly. Any ideas to mitigate the interference? I heard ferrite cores could help. Thanks all!

So my Razer Taimat 2.2 headset recently broke and i have been using my galaxy S3's included earbuds while searching for a new pair of headphones/headset to buy. I have not yet made my PC but i will link what its looking to be like down the bottom for anyone who is interested. (: The motherboard i will most likely get is the Asrock H97M Anniversary --->http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157547 and the headset i am looking to buy is the Logitech G430 7.1 surround sound headset ---> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104847 It says on the specifications of the motherboard 5.1 audio channels but does that mean in order to get the 7.1 from the headset i would need a soundcard? i am not familiar with headphones and such but i would like to know that if i do end up going for this headset/mobo combo if i will in fact need a sound card to use the G430 7.1 surround sound. After several hours of looking this up i couldnt really find a clear answer and i fell to you guys (: if i will need a card please link a good value one or if there is a similar priced motherboard upgrade that has 7.1 that would be appreciated. also i would like to know if it is even worth buying a sound card or if i will be fine as is. cheers http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/MBymRB

Linus did a review on the 'AuzenTech X-FI Hometheater HD Sound Card' a few years back. I know the card is old now in terms of 'technology years' but is there a better card out there today that does what this card does. Because I still have one and don't know wether it was a good idea in the end holding on to it. or if even onboard sound now does what this card can do. Any thoughts?

I have been using the Xonar DG in my asus sabertooth 990fx 2.0 motherboard. I am not sure weather to switch back to my onboard sound (Realtek® ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC ) or to use the Xonar DG. I have a 52 ohm headphones that do not require alot of power to get it to run loud. I usually put it on pro gaming mode at 25%. But would taking out the sound card affect my gaming Fps?

hi all, I have a problem with my audio on my motherboard, it has this crackling when the volume gets over a certain level, I had this problem before when I first built my new computer a couple of weeks ago. First of all I installed all the new drivers and it was still crackling, I then realised that I left the little rubber caps that were in the in the HDMI/display port jacks on the motherboard after I installed it. So I thought that could be the problem, so I took my motherboard out my case, removed the rubber caps and reinstalled it. It was then working after a restart but I am not sure if that was the actual fix. So now the crackle is back and I have no idea how to get rid of it, I thought that maybe the audio ports got damaged by the pressure when the rubber caps were still in, but I tested it on my front panel audio, which still crackles but has louder audio! I have tried everything, loads of forums say install drivers ect I have tried that, I have disabled my "AMD HD audio device" in my device manager because there is Realtek audio in there aswell and apparently that worked for some. But no luck. So if anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it, my mobo is the MSI z97m gaming, got a steelseries headset (headset works fine on laptop and other things). Thanks.

My speakers have a loud buzzing noise that only appears when my PC is turned off. I know it is from the PC because when I disconnect the wires(it's 5.1 ) the noise stops. I have Logitech Z506 speakers, which also have a bluetooth adapter connected to them. I'm using the onboard sound - and my PC is in the specs. Oh and I can't just turn them off, because I use them with my Venue 8 Pro and Ipod. Any ideas what causing it? I've read in a few places that it might be caused by static electricity....

Hello everyone, I've been looking to upgrade from my g930 and although i will miss the wireless capabilities of my headset i think it's time to see what all the fuss is about when it comes to audiophile headphones. After some research i decided to go for the Sennheiser HD 595, but i'm still open for suggestions , especially closed headphones, my PC might be a bit too loud for an open headphone. Anyway on to my questions, what kind of performance difference can i expect to see from my current headset to these if i still use the on-board sound from my Motherboard (Asus Rampage IV Formula) ? Also will it be able to drive the HD 595 ? I've heard this mobo has a pretty good on-board sound but how does it fair against an actual sound card ? entry level and above. I just don't want to get the new headphone and hear too little difference compared to my current headset, Maybe i should wait until i can buy a sound card too ? Thanks

hi everybody, i bought a 4770k and a maximus vi formula in february and i was quite excited, it all worked on test boots, until i brought it up to my room from the dining room table, then i started to notice something. when i shut down my pc, approx. 10-30mins later it would randomly start back up and at this point i thought nothing of it and i believed that it was a faulty power button, so i just left it, after a while it started to annoy me so i unpluged my power switch and used the onboard one, this had no effect the board still randomly powered up after shutting down, and because i did not know if i had a warranty (because i have yet to fill in the on screen pop up that appears at every start) i just got on with it, but recently i have noticed that the line out jack on my on-board sound doesnt work, i get no audio through it at all, i have tried multiple headphones and i have restarted multiple time, i do not believe this is an overclocking issue as my whole system has only blue screened once (whilst editing a game value when the game was open) so everything else seems pretty solid, and i thought i would get the L.T.T community opinion on what to do, as i have been leaving my system on which does not help the power bill Thanks Blair
