Getting (not necessarily stable) down to 90/100 fps in cs2 (dm Vertigo) with these specs (HP Omen prebuilt) cpu: i9 11900k gpu: 3080 (10gb vram) ram: 2x16gb Kingston HyperX Fury I'm hating the hp bloatware (and the fact its locking advacned bios settings from me), so looking to build my own PC. Wanting to use some of my parts tho, and wondering what the bottleneck here seems to be. Probably CPU? More info screenshots attached. Also: If I want to have my pc be essentially a custom built (i.e. no remainding crumbs of influence by hp making my life slightly less comfortable :3 ) I figure all I need to do really is change the motherboard ? (& uninstall bloatware)

ram HP Omen 25L and XMP. I AM FREAKING OUT !
ya_freezy posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hello, a few months ago, I bought the HP Omen 25L with an i7-13700F and an RTX 4070ti, and upgraded the RAM to 32GB. I initially had issues with XMP, as it simply wouldn't activate through the BIOS. Last week, I managed to activate XMP at 5200 MT/s. Everything was working fine this morning. In the afternoon, when I turned on my PC, I noticed that booting into Windows took quite a long time. In the Task Manager, the RAM speed was back to 2000MHz. I've now set it to XMP Profile 1 in the BIOS 10 times, but the Task Manager still shows 2000MHz. CPU-Z and CMD both display different RAM clock speeds. Which one is correct? I'm even considering replacing the motherboard because HP's BIOS is simply AWFUL. Can anyone recommend a good Micro ATX motherboard with LGA1700 socket and DDR5 that isn't too expensive? The RAM sticks are 4x Kingston Fury Beast 8GB DDR5 each, specified at 5200 MT/s. Or is there anything else i could try ? Thanks in advance for any replies. -
Hello! Recently I discovered an issue with my and some other people HP gaming laptops, including Omen and Victus lineups. I have an HP OMEN 16-b1000, with i5-12500H and RTX 3060. Hardware side: - HP laptops lack cooling solutions and thermal interfaces, so they are thermally restricted. - Many recent HP laptops have special separate board with IR thermal sensor, which pointed upwards, to the keyboard. Here is the official HP guide with covers it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZebpxQZP4JI&t=839 at 13:59. - Overall CPU and GPU temps are still ok, they are not thermal throttling. Software side: - HP laptops monitor case temp and dynamically lowering PL1 value for CPUs. Without any software running, default power limit in the long run for the i5-12500H (and most Alder Lake-H CPUs) is 25 watts, despite it being a 45-watt spec CPU. AMD ones are similar, but they handle these better, with better power efficiency. This is VERY low. CPU performance is like 50% of the estimated. - HP gaming laptops are designed to work with always running Omen Gaming Hub (OGH) software, which is very slow, bloated, and still gives a low number of settings and customizations. - Even with Performance mode set in OGH, with fans running 100%, CPU PL1 still drops to 35 watts. Again, not even 45 watts. What I tried and discovered: - I did a good cooling system maintenance, replaced thermal paste with Honeywell PTM7950. CPU and GPU temps are much better than stock, but this case throttling issue is still here. - Local service center by the warranty replaced my 230 watts PSU to another one, and issue is still here. - I tried to disconnect the IR board ribbon cable, and the case throttling stopped! So, it's confirmed. But overall laptop always was running very hot, CPU always at 97c, fans not maxed out. It's not designed this, and I'm afraid of losing the warranty. - ThrottleStop with sketchy settings and OGH running in the background is able to override this, but it's a third-party tool, so cannot be considered as a reliable factory solution. - This is an example of how CPU performance lowers, and how much it affects: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgX8mxD0tTE - Multiple people in the HP Omen official Discord could confirm the same issue. The recent case I met is Victus with Ryzen CPU, so it's correlated to HP do its laptops. - HP support doesn't provide any solution. I ask you to help me draw attention to this issue, as I find it is pretty disappointing and even close to scam, to get an expensive laptop with hidden CPU throttling, with lower-than-expected CPU performance from a multi-million-dollar US-based company.

Hi guys I'm looking to buy a new laptop, I've seen two laptops both with pros and cons HP Omen 16-wd0006ns: CPU: Intel Core i7-13620H 4.9ghz (it has fewer cores) RAM: DDR5-5200 MHz, 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Link: https://amzn.eu/d/eTqkFJd OR HP Victus 16-r0032ns CPU: Intel Core i7-13700H 5.0ghz RAM: DDR5-5200 MHz, 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8GB Link: https://amzn.eu/d/36sXLO3 I've also came up with a third option: HP Omen 16-b1020ns CPU: Intel Core i7-12700H 4.7Ghz RAM: RAM DDR5-4800 Mhz, 16GB (2 x 8 GB) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8GB MAX-Q Bônus: The screen is QHD 165hz with 300 nits while the other two have a FHD 144hz 250 nits. Link: https://amzn.eu/d/b9IGac6 Due to specs it should be obvious since they cost about the same but my question is in terms of build quality, I've seen some reviews saying that the omens have a far superior build quality comparing to Victus and that worries me about the laptop longevity, what do you guys think I should buy ?

Will Noctua NH-D15 fit the HP omen GT13-0005no?
FastByte17 posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Hello everyone, My friend has a Hp omen GT13-0005no and he wants to upgrade the cooler for better temperatures. I was wondering if the Noctua NH-D15 will be a good choice and if it will fit width wise and if it will interfere with the RAM slots? Another option I was looking at was the NH-U12A. Thank you -

Hey guys and girls! I recently got myself a OMEN 25L Prebuilt (full specs available here) and as there is two 92mm fans in the system (one being the CPU cooler fan (RGB) and the other being a non-RGB exhaust fan at the back of the case) I was considering adding 2 RGB fans to make my PC run cooler and if possible quieter. My problem here is that, being a prebuilt PC (I had no choice at the time to get myself all the components I wanted to in order to build my first PC because of stocks, so here we are...) I have a proprietary motherboard made by HP, and it seems the only connector available I have on it is a 4-pin connector named "CHFAN" - will this 4-pin connector support a Y-splitter to connect 2 non-RGB fans (if yes, what Y-Splitter would you recommend?) or will it only support a single RGB fan (if yes, how can I set that up so the RGB actually works?)? Would love some help on that!

So I bought this laptop almost a year ago and I've noticed that the fans keep spinning even when the system is idle and well it creates an annoying noise. Also doesn't it take away from the battery life ? Please someone help from what I could find on the HP forums, this is a genuine problem with Omen 15s powered by Ryzen CPUs i.e. their fans start spinning when the CPU or GPU hits what like almost 50 degrees which is ridiculous and that creates an irritating noise. There is no way to control this fan noise, please someone help me before I go crazy. I get that the fans would spin If I would be doing some intensive task like gaming or some blender renders or some other CPU or GPU intensive application but even when this thing is idle ! its fans keep spinning. I have disabled "the fans always on" option in BIOS but that doesn't work.

Laptop : HP omen 15 Dh0138TX Okay so an extended cut of what happened. I was playing a game on my laptop called The Ascent, ran fine at 80+fps. No issues. Did the same last night, no issue. After playing the game for a while, I shut it down, opened up opera and started to watch some videos on YouTube. While I was watching videos my laptop just suddenly turned off. Not like a proper shutdown, but just a tak and boom, no light, no display. When I pushed the power button, no response, the battery charging light wasn't even starting up, the laptop was... Dead sort of. I looked up a few articles, I disconnected the battery, tried just ac power. No luck. Did the reverse, just the battery. No luck. Then I did that power button holding thing for 1 minute and then plugged in ac, no luck. Then I just kept the laptop as it is, went to sleep. Woke up like 3 hours later and now it's runs fine again??? It showed a CMOS checksum error 502 on the start, but told me to just reboot the computer. I did. And I am not getting that error anymore. Now the laptop runs fine on battery and on AC power. What exactly happened here? And should I be worried that it might happen again in the future? Thanks for the help in advance!

Howdy guys, i'll drop the image of my hardware info below or above, don't really know how it works in this forum. So... look. I'm looking for 1 RAM card. I know it has to be a SO-DIMM RAM, as it's a laptop. I know that it's gonna be 16 GB in one card. I "think" that it has to be at 2666 Hz and DDR4. I don't know how that CL thing works so i'll ask you guys. I know that usually you use 2 RAM sticks of the same supplier and of the same variety as to not have any problems, but i'm open to alternatives which also work great. The brand for the original RAM stick on this laptop is SK Hynix. Thanks! P.S. In case you ask why i'm gonna use 32 GB of RAM, i'm a 3D animator and this laptop is my main workstation. Also my main gamestation.

So, this is an ongoing issue. I was in the market for a small form factor DIY desktop build. I currently have a ~7 or 8 year old wall-mount build, and have longed for a portable computer for ages. I'm a long time system builder for my own personal use. However, due to part unavailability and market price increases, I decided to bite the bullet and pick up a laptop. I don't normally consider laptops because they typically don't have the longevity of a desktop. Found a recent good deal on an HP OMEN 15z-en100 with a Ryzen 5 5600H and a supposed 115W RTX 3060 and decided to pick it up. To summarize my experience with this purchase, I'll include my review of the product: "I bought this days ago, and MAN, what an experience this has been. WOW the screen is fantastic, very bright and vivid. This is so HD you'll be crapping your pants. But really, these new gen graphics cards are really what we as gamers have been waiting for for so many years. However, I was unfortunately separated from my new love long before we could even consummate our relationship. 30 minutes after powering on for the first time, she breathed her last breath. Yes, this is a sad story about a man and his unrequited love. But it's more than that, too. HP's customer service is so awful, I have been literally trying for days to begin the RMA process for Lappy, who died too soon. But i work an unfortunate schedule with long drive times to and from work that have kept me from being able to actually speak to a representative. I have tried their online support SO many times only to be told to try again later. What happens when HP's online warranty support doesn't work? Do they give you a phone number to try? do they provide their claims support email address? Absolutely not. 'Try our broken website again sometime in the future'. I have worked for quite a while as a 'Claims Coordinator' in the supply chain/manufacturing industry and I spent the previous 10 years prior to this in a salaried Management position that could get fired for poor customer service in an industry that sells MUCH cheaper products (So I understand how both sides of this experience should work). The fact that the tech industry as a whole is growing too big to care about their customers should be a major concern to most consumers. As for myself, I will never buy another personal HP product until I hear that HP has improved their customer service". About to spend a day of vacation just so I can return my laptop. I can only hope that their telephone customer service works any % better than their website. Wish me luck, I'd really enjoy getting my $1000 back if that's even possible. Anyone else have any recent atrocious customer service experiences with system builders/tech giants?

So, i'm an animation student with an OMEN 15 series laptop, RTX 2060, Core i7 8750H CPU, 16 gb ram and with Windows 10 Home. My problem is that for some reason, before I reset my laptop, Microsoft Store had stopped working, and all apps related and downloaded by the store stopped working entirely. I tried to reset the store, nothin' happened. Then I ran the the troubleshooter and nothing. After that, I tried the WSReset and the differente reset and re-install PowerShell Codes. Nothing happened and nothing worked. Now i've reset fully, deleting everything on my laptop (Don't worry, I backed-up my important files on a hard drive) and had a clean installation of Windows 10 Home. Tried opening Microsoft Store again. Nada. Tried resetting and cleaning the Microsoft Store and clean it's cache and everything, still nothing. That is why I recur to LTT Forum, I need you guys in my life. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I'm trying to install a Scythe FUMA2 air cooler on a pre-built HPOmen830-110. I can't remove the mounting bracket on the motherboard — it's like fucking glued to the motherboard (I did remove the front screws that hold the retention bracket). I am also unable to just make due because the screws on the AIO cooler that came with the desktop are too small, meaning the Fuma 2's screws are too big. Is there a way to remove this thing without damaging the motherboard? Thank you for your time!

So I was playing rainbow six siege mid match and my computer randomly turned off. No error code, nothing just a blank screen and an uncovered computer. I proceeded to try and turn it back on and it lit up and then instantly turned back off again. Now it won't turn on at all. Is there any solutions or advice for this? Thank you.

Hi everyone, today i come here to expose a serious issue. TL;DR : HP still stelling a "gaming" keyboard you can't game with Despite being warned multiple time about an hardware bug, HP didn't aknownleged nor recall this product and still selling the HP Pavilion Gaming Keyboard 500. This keyboard have a major flaw : when "w" is pushed, in combination of any otther key, a third one won't register (on qwerty keyboard, on azerty it's the "z") This problem can be spoted in less than 30 secondes in any fps* : try to forward strafe then jump (a pretty common move) you won't leave the ground. After 2 years we could say HP had plenty of time to adress this. But they don't care, so I hope someone here will show HP they can't freely mess up with people. The store page where you can still buy one (or not) https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pavilion-gaming-keyboard-500?jumpid=ma__product-tile_dlp_nan_3vn40aa_hp-pavilion-gaming-k And here, the fair warning I give them (moderated because I asked for public apology from the ceo) https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Accessories/Story-of-a-total-failure-HP-Pavilion-Gaming-Keyboard-500/m-p/7803289#M4475 *except some old ones like Doom :D

Hi, I own an HP OMEN 880-139 and I bought some new corsair vengeance rgb 3200mhz sticks. They look really nice but they only run at 2133mhz. HP showed off something called omen command centre and said you can overclock ram, but that program is useless and doesn't do allow me to oc my ram. When I use something like intel extreme tuning utility and click xmp, the pc fails to Post. How can I successfully overclock the ram without my pc failing? my pc does have XMP compatible hardware like an i7 8700. I also tried to manually set the speed and latency's but that also doesnt work.Thankyou for your help. The ram sticks I have are 3200mhz cl18 I'm fairly sure. My old ram was 2400mhz cl17.

#1 I've had this laptop for over 3 years now. It's an Omen 17 laptop with a GTX 1070 and a i7 6700HQ. I used to play COD:MW at 100 fps, almost everything on Ultra at 1080p. I went to play today and I almost couldn't reach 40 with everything on low at 720p... The temperatures are fine, nothing's changed about this laptop. Did the GPU just fry itself? I did try to play Mafia 1 Remake on it and had the same result. It's not using any onboard graphics cards as my laptop doesn't have one (as far as I know). Is it just dead?

Hey guys and girls hopefully one of you can help me out, im upgrading my cpu in my HP Omen 25L which means upgrading my cooler. It’s currently has an AMD processor but the HP motherboard has spacing for an intel mounting bracket. My question is if I use the intel mounting method for my new cooler will it sit properly on the processor in an AM4 socket?

I currently have a prebuilt I bought back in 2018 when I first wanted to get into pc gaming, I was trying to see if at this point am I better off upgrading parts or just built a new pc I Currently Have This Setup Cpu- i7-8700 Gpu- NVIDIA GTX 1060 Motherboard- 875-0014 Z370 LGA1151 MATX EDORAS MOTHERBOARD L23867-001 Ps-500W Monitor- 60Hz 1080p When I first bought my prebuilt I didn’t know anything about pc’s so I just really bought the first prebuilt I pretty much seen Here a link to the prebuilt for more details- https://www.bestbuy.com/site/omen-by-hp-obelisk-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i7-8700-16gb-memory-nvidia-gtx-1060-3gb-1tb-hdd-256gb-ssd-hp-finish-in-shadow-black/6285800.p?skuId=6285800 i want to upgrade this pc because of course it would be the cheapest option but at the same time it being a prebuilt I know upgrades are limited, I want to also future proof this but I see that a lot of these parts limit each other for example I want to throw in a 3080ti for the to future proof the GPU but it will bottle neck my current CPU and upgrading the cpu is only available to a i9-9700 but that will also bottle neck apparently according to the research I’ve done, so I would need a motherboard upgrade to even upgrade my cpu to even be compatible with the you that I want to run, Well the question is if I upgraded parts on my prebuilt what should I upgrade and is it worth it truly looking into the future or should I just make the jump to upgrade my whole setup, if I do upgrade my setup I think I’m set at gaming at 166Hz at 1440P for the upgrade, I just would need help picking other parts to stay in budget but still be able to run what I want comfortably, I think I’m set on running the 3080 ti so I would need a setup built around that GPU for under $2,000 USD i would gladly take any recommendations maybe I don’t need the 3080 and could make it even cheaper and it still run the setting I want comfortably, I’m still learning so sorry if I said anything dumb or that just doesn't make sense

Hi, I'm having a very specific issue with my headphones, an issue that to be honest i couldn't find anywhere and I'm trying to see if someone could help me, this was my first option since I've seen several issues resolved with this forum specifically. TL;DR, A tiny sensor in my microphone from said headset just stopped working, making the microphone completely useless, in the attached photo I'm showing the specific part thats the sensor and I need a solution to see whether I can fix it or just bypass it, I'm no engineer in any degree I just like to disassemble stuff and wiggle things to try fix them, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't, in this case I don't wanna fuck up anything since I'm kind of a tight spot economically and that's why I wanna fix this.
