Hello! Sapphire's site is broken. I want to search for older gpus on their site (28nm stuff) and can't do it. Do you know other place to search for said products or a way to contact sapphire about this?

READ THIS BEFORE LEAVING ANY SMARTASS COMMENTS 1) The reason I am making this post is I was unable to find any information AT ALL of people who had tried Intel Optane on older hardware. 2) I am NOT recommending people do something similar to my setup, or do this at all. I just wanted to give out some information on my experience So my current setup is a 4790k, 32gb of DDR3 2400mhz ram, 960gb Sandisk Extreme Pro with Win7. I built this computer about 3 years ago, originally with a 4770k and 16gb 1866. But my friend upgraded his computer last year so I bought his 4790k off of him for really cheap, then I got an amazing deal off of ebay for this ram, so here I am today. This computer is serving me very well, and in most of the areas I use it for, it either matches, or slightly beats the Kaby Lake 7700k. So frankly, I really see no reason to upgrade for a while. Then of course, Optane came out and we got to watch Intel give us the finger. While Optane's sequential speeds do look rather handicapped compared to other NAND NVME drives, it's random 4K speeds are leaving me and alot of other people drooling: 5x higher than the second highest NAND NVME drive, and almost 10x higher than NAND SATA drives. Intel says it's mainly for caching with Mechanical Drives, but with that kind of difference, I think there's some potential for using it with SSDs as well... ....But it's only suppose to work on Windows 10 and with Kaby Lake Core series processors. Windows 10 I haven't have had minimal issues with. I have it on several computers and it works just fine. But I don't see any reason to spend several hundred dollars on a new motherboard, cpu, & ram just so I could use optane, and I absolutely did not want to let Intel lead me by the arm to a mountain and offer me the kingdoms of the world, if only I bowed to them.... ...But I still wanted to play with it. Thankfully, I live near a Microcenter and several Fry's so if it didn't work I could just take it back. So yesterday I ran down and grabbed the 32gb Optane Drive and a SIIG M.2 PCIe Adapter (my motherboard does have a m.2 slot but that would disable several sata ports I have things plugged into). So booting up, Windows immediately installed the driver the for PCIe adapter, but could not find a driver for the drive. Doing some reading, turns out Win7 does not offer native support for NVME. Microsoft does however offer a hotfix for it that you can find here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2990941/update-to-add-native-driver-support-in-nvm-express-in-windows-7-and-windows-server-2008-r2 So install that, restart, and..... BOOM BABY!!!! Intel Optane on a Haswell Processor and Windows 7. So running CrystalMark and.... Sh*t. Figures right. All the speeds are up to spec EXCEPT the 4k Random speeds. There seems to be something bottlenecking the latency; comparing it to my Sandisk Extreme Pro you can see something's not right. I'm hoping it's either the PCIe adapter or there's a problem with this optane drive itself. If it's the NVME driver/Windows or an issue with the motherboard itself, this is really going to suck. Well until I can figure out what that problem is, there isn't really any point in continuing with the rest of my plans for this little project. I'm not even going to bother trying out the Optane Program. The way Intel uses the Optane as a cache is part software, but mostly built into the cpu itself. My thought was to try and use PrimoCache, and use the Optane drive to cache my Sandisk SSD. PrimoCache does say that it can be used to improve boot up times. The downside is that rather than being built into the hardware, it has to load with the first part of the OS before it can start using the cache drive. The upside is that in addition to an Optane cache, it also can be used to create a RamCache. So there's some potential for some serious performance improvement. Best of all is that it's significantly cheaper than a new motherboard, cpu, & ram. So that's all for right now. I ordered another PCIe adapter last night that should get here in the evening, and I have another computer with a Z97 board with Windows 10 and a built in NVME drive, so I'm going to try the optane on it and see what kind of results I get. So that should be all for now, but again, let me reiterate: This is an exploratory mission. I'm not here to brag, but to let you all know that Optane does work mostly as it should on older hardware. Hi, so... the tittle seems legit... If you don't want to read all, scroll down to the RESUME at the end. I have my new PC (Ryzen 5 2400G) running and playing all day (when im not working). The problem is that recently i found my copy of "Shogun Total War: Warlord Edition"... i've tried everything, all solutions i've found online, and seems to go nowere. The problem is that my hardware and the SO (W10) don't wan't to run it. The game was released in 2000, so, retro-compatibility is a nono. I come with an idea, set a VM, get my older Wxp and install the game in it, another "fiasco". The game runs at 3fps, not playable at all. Diggin in the configurations I ended up in the hardware administrator on the XP in the VM... to my surprise is running in software mode, i go to the unknown devices and is there, the graphics card, but windows reject to recognize it. No drivers to install and no way to solve it. The main problem is that after 4 days+ reading and surfing the net, it seems that "GPU EMULATION" doesn't exist, or i really suck in english (not my language so im working hard tipyng here). If is someone out there that knows more of this than me, ¿is it possible to "emulate older gpu's" in a newer gpu?, that includes triking the OS to thinking that i have another gpu apart from the integrated one (like GTX450 or ATI equivalent), and emulated in my integrated GPU or even in the CPU, so i can install the drivers in the VM-Wxp to run the game. Resume: Is some way to emulate an older GPU on my newer GPU or CPU (doesn't matter in wich one) so i can play older games in my virtual machine with WindowsXP? All other options (like compatibility mode, even editing files of the game) are a nono, no one works. (The game: "Shogun Total War: Warlord Edition")

im trying to find some older OEM systems, preferable from the Windows XP era (2001-2007) preferably for under $50, older pcs on ebay are usually over $50. i would resort to craigslist, but i live in the middle of fucking nowhere, so computers are a rare thing to see. i dont wanna spend more than 50 dollars due to the fact that i was wanting to put a 1tb hdd and put some movies and emulators on it so that i can hook it up to the tv and just watch some movies and play emulators on the couch instead of having to sit in my chair. help would be appreciated.

Hello! I am currently in university (engineering) and I am looking for a laptop. I need it for CAD and photo editing in Photoshop. I was wondering if it's worth buying a workstation laptop from 2012-2013 (like a Thinkpad, EliteBook etc.). Would it run well the software I need for at least for 2-3 years? I found some in my country for 250-350$. Here are some spec examples: HP ZBook: i7-4900mq, quadro k1100m, 16gb ddr3 ram, 256gb ssd for almost 400$ HP Elitebook: i7-3820qm, quadro k3000m, 8gb ddr3 ram, 240gb ssd for almost 400$ Thinkpad W530: i7-3740qm, quadro k1000m, 16gb ddr3 ram, 128gb ssd for under 300$ P.S. I also have a decent PC at home, the laptop would be used at school and when traveling.

I am planing to buy gaming pc. I pick everything but I can't really decide about GPU because price is the same. Here is my part list: Intel i3 6100 Msi B150M Gaming Pro Kingston 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz Seasonic ECO 430W Zalman Z3+ WD Blue 1TB and I think that I will add ssd. Pick GPU between these two: Sapphire RX 460 2GB 128bit or Msi Geforce GTX 750Ti TF Gaming One has Directx and other has Vulcan so it is hard to choose. Please help!

Just want some games that i know i can run. It's a bit tedious trying to find and compare system requirements of older games. Currently have Don't starve, and Hammerwatch installed. Laptop with Radeon HD 6320, Amd e-450 APU @ 1.65 and 4GB ram. Keep in mind that i am running ubuntu

Hi. So I was having a conversation with someone and they made the outrageous bat-shit-crazy claim that older games will get "better fps" with older drivers. His graphics card is gt 630m; a true potatoe. I don't remember the cpu it was some calculator inspired intel dual core. My reasoning is that, my much newer laptop, hasn't gotten a relevant driver update in about 8 months. But there's been a mosh pit of driver releases. Thus these "older" drivers are really the same thing as the new ones. So any fps increase is imagined. What does everyone else think?

i have an old compaq presario 1303wm desktop computer that i gutted and hopefully plan to reuse the case until i can afford to upgrade to a better one. so my question is, will i be able to fit a asus a88x pro mobo into the case, and also will a sapphire raedon r7260x fit in the case as well? i cant find the case model to so cant find what size mobo it supports. hopefully someone can help. thanks!

Hey guys. I'm thinking about building a home server and I'm wondering how to do it, should I wish to do it. What I'd want to do with it: Plex - I guess Some VM work, for fun General networked storage (yes, I know the mobo only has SATA 3Gb/s ports - when I bought it, it was advertised as 6Gb/s...) Maybe running some game servers, but that would only be for LANs because of my slow SLOW internet connection If I replaced the motherboard and put a high-end wireless card in, wireless router? Steam In-Home streaming? I could upgrade PSUs in my main rig and take the CoolerMaster 500w I'm currently using and put it in there. My overall budget: around £100 but could probably stretch to £160 or so if I really wanted to go for it. What do you guys think?

Hwy guys im planning my first build right now. Ive been doing some research on my GPU (i more or less have everything else down). Im wondering what is the difference between the r9 280 and the 7970? What is the performance differences between the two cards? I can get a r9 280 for about $170, how much less would a 7970 cost me? I ask that because i dont have a lot of money. Also would it be woth it to go on eBay and Creigslist and search for a used card? Are the reliable and dependable and not totally sketchy over buying brand new? So, I'm upgrading ofcourse Atm, I have a P8 B75-M LE motherboard from ASUS with an i5 3330. I'm thinking of buying an i7 3770K, but everyone says I would need a Z77 motherboard for OC and stuff. I'm thinking of buying an MSI Z77 in an near future, but for now, I'll pair the 3770K with my old mobo. My question is: will it work? Will I have any probems? I'm currently in the graphics cards "department" and primarily spending my time on that, so I'm a bit behind on the mobo & CPU side.
