Budget (including currency): Over £2,000 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 1080 gaming/maybe 1440p in future, streaming/recording (maybe) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): First Off … Hi everyone! Hope your all doing Good and Keeping well enough. Hoping I've put this in the right area, never know with different/new forums. So first off I need people to understand that I am Physically Disabled and I am not able to build a Computer, so i have to rely on only companies that custom build, which have limited chooses in components, and I can't/would not be able to maintain a water cooled system, bad enough cleaning one as it. Anyway with that said I have just brought myself a New gaming PC from a UK company called PCspecialist My current gaming build is CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7GHz 12 Core CPU – 4.8GHz Turbo Motherboard: X570 Aorus Elite Graphics Card: NVidia GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 GPU Memory: 32GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE LPX 3600MHz (2x16GB) Primary Storage Drive: 1 TB M.2 drive CPU Cooling: Be Quiet! DARK ROCK Slim CPU Cooler PSU: Corsair RM850 850W 80 Plus Gold Full Modular PSU I have just brought I new computer which is: Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Eight Core CPU (4.2GHz-5.0GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5) Motherboard GIGABYTE X670 AORUS ELITE AX 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz (2 x 16GB) Graphics Card 12GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 4070 SUPER - HDMI, DP, LHR 1st M.2 SSD Drive 2TB SAMSUNG 990 PRO M.2, PCIe 4.0 NVMe (up to 7450MB/R, 6900MB/W) Power Supply CORSAIR 750W RMe SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET Processor Cooling DeepCool AK620 ZERO DARK I am Happy with the what i have done, with some buying nerv's as it goes but kind of what to know what people in general think to the Upgrade.... Good/Bad please explain why and what you would have done diff. Oh and I am truly hoping when the 50 NVidia series comes out (next year??) I'll be able to upgrade the GPU with this new system... just have to save those penny's again.

Yeah I know there are a lot of questions about this type of issue but I checked everywhere and nobody seems to have the same issue as me. So, I'm using DELL Inspirion 15 7559 from 2016 I believe. Today my screen got infested with thin, horizontal lines across whole screen, height and width wise. Those lines aren't any exact color - they seem like it's 50/50 darker and ligher lines... Or maybe half of them are darker and half of them is 'normal' brightness? I have no idea. They almost look like scan lines on CRT TV. No those arent black, green or whatever else. They seem to come up after few minutes of using the laptop - they arent there from the start. Those lines seem to get worse, dissapear by themselves and re-appear all by random chance. Also. Sometimes, but not always, I do see those lines appear when my screen goes black if i don't use the laptop for a while, then those lines kinda 'fizz out' as the black screen of screen saver dissapears and wallpapaer appear. It's first time using this forum for me, I will try attaching a photo/video of this. And no, they don't appear on screenshots. VID_20240311_195421 (1).mp4

Simple Questions Regarding The Viability & The Overall Market For Such Computer's: Firstly, thanks so very much for sharing your opinions and thoughts on everything and for helping me to find out if it is viable for me to go ahead with sharing the computer's I make for my little hobby of building old vintage PC's with others. My real question is whether it would be viable to proceed with selling old & vintage Computers I build using parts that are as close to new or new old stock as possible. The OS I would mainly be using is Windows XP. What do people think when it comes to the market being big enough & if people would be willing to pay a small to medium premium for me to cover my parts costs, sales fee's, postage costs & very importantly my time that it takes to source the parts, build the Computer's and all the time listing the PC's, communicating with customers and packaging the PC's etc? If anyone has anything at all they can add, even thing or questions I haven't thought to ask, that would be appreciated so very much Thanks again in advance

Hello! (Hope this is the right subforum) I thought I'd ask for help here, as this just doesn't make sense to me, and it would be much easier if I could do this. I have an admittedly older PC (new one soon, but not yet) with a 1050 Ti and while it works perfectly fine with my two regular screens (a main 27" 240 Hz and a smaller 60 Hz side screen I use vertically), my TV refuses to work with it when I plug it in with a HDMI cable, and Windows just refuses to detect it. The same TV works perfectly fine when plugged into my laptop (HP EliteBook I think, it just has an Intel GPU). I specifically bought a *long* HDMI for this, which feels extra awkward now. Now, the things I know and why all of this makes no sense to me: - I was previously on Win8.1 but upgraded to 11 recently. I thought maybe 8.1 didn't handle 3+ screens well, but nope, nothing has changed. - It used to work okay-ish when I plugged the TV instead of the main monitor into the same HDMI port, but now that won't work either for some reason. - Newest NVIDIA drivers etc., I've tried messing with all sorts of settings in both Windows/NVIDIA settings and on the TV, nothing helps. - Random but feels related somehow, I also tried plugging either monitor with DisplayPort instead of HDMI once and it just wouldn't work either. Works fine via HDMI, Windows refuses to detect anything via DisplayPort. Would be grateful for any ideas as this just feels like some kind of weird mystery. I'm wondering if this simply isn't a case of an old/degraded graphics card (purchased in 2018), but I'd like to figure out if there are other options before I get a new PC and end up disappointed again... Thanks in advance for any help, and Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! [and also attached HWinfo in case that helps]

So some context, the laptop is an old Toshiba Satellite L755, its my father's and he only uses it for watching movies but it was really slow and gave error messages for anything, it had windows 7 so I decided to take it home and try to do something with it, I formatted the drives and put Linux Mint on it, even the installation process was slow as hell, it installed but it was a pain in the ass to even navigate, so I put Chrome OS Flex on it, which doesn't helped it was still slow, now it has a Windows 10 (cuz not the OS the problem here and atleast I know something about windows 10 so I knew where can I search for the problem) surprise it's slow aswell but not slower then the other OS's so I opened the task manager and everything seems to be fine BUT the CPU utilization is always on 100% the hdd seems fine at 20%, etc. So the problem is with the CPU utilization, what can cause it? tried virus scan, it didn't show anything, the Task Manager shows normal processes but they use a lot of CPU for some reason When I try to watch something on YouTube it's hard for the laptop to even load the site, and a 144p video is laggy, unwatchable.

My student association just discovered a pretty old server just sitting on a shelf but we can't identify the cpu. It's most likely way to old to be used but would be fun to know. It runs DDR2 and the harddrives in the server were only 32GB so suggests how ancient it is. Thanks for any help

So I have this old RM750X corsair PSU. I haven't used it since I bought it 5 years ago because of financial reason. Is it still ok to use this when I finally have enough money to buy the rest of the parts?

SN is F92422848 from Taiwan. A post from reddit from 10 months ago said something of a Toshiba Clone or Olivietti, but maybe someone seeing this post knows more. The branding of SEMO makes it also unlikely. Quite unfamiliar with DOS, but will try my best here. Just gonna copy most relevant info from startup screen here plus some added info from brackets. @da na You do this type of stuff. Give me some advice. Ok so. Thinkpad R61. Yup. A link to more general Thinkpad R61 (Not my exact model):https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd013965-detailed-specifications-thinkpad-r61 Specs: (Its a massive image so spoiler) I want to upgrade the CPU, RAM, and HDD I've seen posts that the manufacturer says the maximum amount of ram you can have is 4 gigs. But people have installed 8 gigs and its worked fine. Can anyone confirm this? Because I'd prefer 8 gigs if I can get it for less than 50 bucks. I think the fastest RAM speed I can have is PC2-5300. Or is there something faster I can use? I've picked out some ram here: https://www.newegg.com/mushkin-enhanced-4gb-200-pin-ddr2-so-dimm/p/N82E16820146697?Item=9SIA1K6JJZ9394 The SSD I'm thinking I'm just going to pick something from the options listed on this page: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/lenovo/thinkpad-r61-series Now the CPU is the most controversial thing I've come across. I'm looking for some clarity on my options. Here are the links to the descrepency: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=124276 and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-L-R-and-SL-series/rebuilding-and-upgrading-thinkpad-r61/m-p/4446727 and https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=104106 But the just is, P socket verses M socket, and something about upgrading BIOS to Middleton. Help. Thank you!

I've been looking up if Transformers: War for Cybertron is compatible with modern pc hardware and software(Windows 11) as it is a decade old. I found out that it has SecuRom v07.42.0001 on it and that this application could possibly stop the game from running on my pc because Microsoft dropped support for it. So I'm just wondering if I can not play the game because I am planning on getting the dvd. (I am also using an external Asus Zendrive to run it.)

Hello, I would like to know if anyone have this UPS model: APC Smart UPS RT 1000 here's a link: https://www.se.com/fr/fr/product/SURT1000XLI/smartups-online-rt-onduleur-1000va/ apparently it is an old UPS and I would like to know if it's ok to use it with modern hardware, here's my pc specs: cpu: Amd 3950x gpu: MSI rtx 4090 gaming trio psu: MSI MPG A1000G two hardrives 4to and 8to I got that UPS from my father's friend who claims that he had it for two years and then removed it because he doesn't need it right now, so he gave it to us to test it. I don't know how long it has been working. My main work is about 3D modeling and rendering, I want to protect my PC from outages (its been happening a lot these days), is that UPS system good for my needs even if the UPS itself is old and my pc specs are recent? Thanks everyone

So my dad gave me this really, really old gpu in order to be able to POST on my botched home server. Now the problem is the fan of it is really loud and I was wondering if there was a way to change it's fan speed without it's official but outdated software.

Hello everyone, I was able to get a couple of old servers that were being thrown out at my work. One is a PowerEdge R210 And I am not sure of the other one but its manufacturer is Dedicated Computing, LLC. The issue I'm having with these is they are pretty old (but work) and they were not wiped before being thrown out. I am not able to download anything or even update the system. One of which is currently running windows 7. Is there a way for me to basically completely wipe these servers so I can have full access to them? The original administrator is still on these servers and obviously I do not have the password to get in. Do I need to install a new OS? or is there something else I need to do? Please keep in mind that I am not very tech savvy with this kind of stuff so instructions on what to do would be very helpful for me. If more information is needed please let me know and I will do my best to provide it. Thank you

Hi all, I am trying to repair my Dell Inspiron 5759 laptop and am trying to find an AMD Radeon R5 M335 GPU. Unfortunately, it is an older model and not sold by Dell. Any ideas where I can pick one up? Kind Regards, WeTuLo

So I just remembered that I was given an old computer (which is older than I am). It is from about 1999 to 2003 (maybe it has got some upgrades from after that). I couldn't *really* figure out what CPU this is. Can someone help me and tell me if it even has a real (historic / collectors') value? It was sitting on a Compaq-PC's mainboard which has the Socket 462. I even have 1GB of DDR1-RAM from it (2x256MB, 1x512MB), aswell as an ATI Radeon R9200SE. What is the value of that stuff? Can it even run Crysis?

Im trying to find which gpu my first computer had, all i can remember of it was it had an orange pcb with a small heatsink on it, i think it was 512mb (may have been 256mb), and it had an odd model number on the sticker. Something like 7600gs/7800gt as if it were 2 cards? (not the exact numbers). Fun fact the computer had one of these hideous but interesting NZXT Nemesis Elite cases......

This is an old Pentium 2 processor which has no fans. It is cooled by those rods and you don't need to worry about thermal paste because it goes in a slot just like a cartridge. -

I wanted to fix my brother's laggy computer by buying used stuff but I have a uncertainty about if there would be a power shortage or a possible bottleneck. The components are: GIGABYTE ga-880gm-dwh MB AMD Athlon II x4 640 An ASUS GeForce 750ti 8 GB DDR3 Ram A 5.4k rpm HDD 425 watt PSU a 1366x768 monitor It used to run very nicely when we upgraded from a 9800gt to 750TI, at least it could play witcher 3 at 768p with 40-50 fps, but now it is probably throttling due to dust and stuff and gpu usage doesn't exceed %10, while the cpu is at 90 when playing League of Legends and stuff. Temps looked alright, which were 60 max for CPU and about 60 for the GPU Since the motherboard doesn't support am3+ which are the amd fx processors, I found a good phentom x6 1100t to replace the cpu. My questions are: Is the 425 watt psu enough? I used a site to calculate all and it said 300watts would be enough. Is the reason this pc is very laggy on games and stuff the CPU bottlenecking? Do you think a deep cleaning and a CPU replacement could at least play older games and not very demanding online games? Do you think GPU being at %5-%10 usage while gaming is a different problem than CPU bottleneck? Thank you all in advance.
