So looking to get the "beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO" headphones and confused on whether I should get the 32 OHM or the 80 OHM. I know the 250 OHM you need a proper DAC for it, but what about the 80 OHM version? My motherboard: GIGABYTE B660M DS3H A fairly cheap motherboard I got last year and concerned that the 80 OHM version won't work well without a DAC, should I get the 32 OHM instead? Am I losing in a lot of sound quality by not getting the 80 OHM (and possibly a DAC if needed)? I'm not an expert in audio at all, this is coming from someone who has been using Logitech gaming headphones his whole life.

My mother board, an X570 taichi, does say it can power up to 600 ohm headphones. Here is their direct quote under audio specs. "NE5532 Premium Headset Amplifier for Front Panel Audio Connector (Supports up to 600 Ohm headsets)" So does this mean I could most likely power 250 ohm headphones through the front panel audio connector?

Hello guys Trying to choose the best possibile headphones for under 200$ ( which I AM going to use for 5 years od more) I stopped by open back Beyerdynamic 990 ( previously also considered HiFiMan HE 400i, Philips X2, Sennheiser 650). My friends advice me to choose close back for better immersion into whatever I hear in headphones. Though I prefer hearing a bit what is happening around me, and I definitely hate not hearing myself. I used to have closed headphones before and this is just not for me. So my questions are: 1) Should I choose DT990 Pro or DT990 Edition? What would be the difference? DT 990 Pro seems to be more popular and has that nice retro telephone cable . 2) To experience DT990 true potential should I buy 600 ohm or 250 ohm would be better for home only use? I did not find a clear explanation about the difference. What else should I buy to power them? 3) What is the best "price/quality" DAC/AMP to have the mentioned above true potential? 4) The most important question is if I AM making the right decision about DT990? After watching many reviews they seemed the best possibile choice due to product and sound quality/price. I need to order headphones and possibily the Amp tomorrow as my current headphones are falling apart and I almost do not hear anything while using them. And since there is still time to change my mind about Beyerdynamic and get something else, better for the same price I Ask you to help me with this.

Hello guys, I have found a way to accurately have direct power readings from my nvidia GPU and not a TDP percentage. Knowing how much voltage and power is used we can solve for current draw and resistance right? Can someone verify if this is indeed the values for my core: P is power in watts, V is voltage in volts, I is current in amperes and R is resistance in ohms. P= V x I therefore I= P / V 220 = 1.212 x I therefore I= 220 / 1.212 = 181.52 Now for resistance: V= I x R therefore R= V / I 1.212= 181.52 x R therefore R= 1.212 / 181.52 = 0.00667 According to this, when my GPU is drawing 220 Watts at a voltage of 1.212V its resistance is 6.667 mΩ (or 0.00667 Ω) ? I know silicon is a semi conductor so this resistance value changes all the time right? But with this power draw, are my calculations correct?

Hello! I'm right now looking into buying a new pair of headphones for under 200USD and so far it seems like the DT 770 Pro from Beyerdynamic is the best pair for me (though if you have any other suggestions, please leave a reply ). Now the only problem is if I should buy the 80Ohm or 250Ohm version and if I'll need an AMP or DAC? I'll only use them at my stationary computer at home. My motherboard right now is a Gigabyte Z170 Gaming K3 and my current headset is a SteelSeries Siberia 650 (so I have the SteelSeries Soundcard v2), dunno if this last written information will help though I thought that I might just write it down!

Hi guys, i´m about to buy a beyerdynamic DT990, but there are 2 different variations and i don´t know which one to buy. One is with 32 Ohm and the other with 250. So whats the difference between these 3 products : https://www.amazon.de/Beyerdynamic-990-PRO-offener-Studiokopfhörer/dp/B0011UB9CQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1507635695&sr=8-1&keywords=Beyerdynamic+DT990 https://www.amazon.de/beyerdynamic-990-250-Hi-Fi-Kopfhörer-Silber/dp/B00193FT26/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1507635695&sr=8-2&keywords=Beyerdynamic+DT990 https://www.amazon.de/beyerdynamic-990-Ohm-Hi-Fi-Kopfhörer-Weiß/dp/B0024NK344/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1507635695&sr=8-3&keywords=Beyerdynamic+DT990 Thanks for all Help!

Hello everyone, recently i changed out my motherboard to a MSI B450 Tomahawk and now the graphics card is covering most of my PCI-Express slots. (Its a 3.75 slot-card including the aftermarket air cooler.) The only one left is not usable with a sound card because then the cooler of my graphics card is almost completely blocked off and my temeratures are skyrocketing... I was ruinning my "Beyerdynamic DT 990 Edtion 600 Ohm" headphones with an "Asus Xonar Essence STX II" sound card. I absolutely loved the sound-profile of this combination. Right now the headphones run off my mainboard and the sound is rather flat and boring as it is not made for 600 Ohm headphones. Now i am searching for an external headphone-AMP for 200,- € or less that is equivalent to my sound card. Of course it should be available in Germany and not bottleneck my DT 990 in any way. Any reccomendations?

beyerdynamic dt 770 pro Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 32 ohm vs 80 ohm?
RogerRoger posted a topic in Audio
Hello! i care alot about good audio and am planning to buy the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro to be my main set of headphones. My Use: Listening to Music, Playing Games, Video Editing Platforms: PC, PS4, Mobile but i don't understand Ohms, i was originally going to get the 250 but understood they aren't good for my use especially since i dont own an amp what should i buy? and what is the difference between them? -
So here's the deal. (Im not very familiar with audio setups, so please excuse my incompetance) I got two Logitech Z906 systems mounted in a caravan me and some mates use at festivals during the summer. The systems are connected thusly: Phone connects to a MyJack bluetooth-to-aux reciever, sending it's signal into a "Music X2 controller" wich uses the AUX signal and a 230V to 12V 150W converter to power a long strip of LED's (synchronized to the music). The aux cable continues via the music controllers output, going 2 meters before reaching a Y-splitter, going to the 2 different Z906's. I'm contemplating splitting the signal via another Y-cable (before it reaches the splitter mentioned above), to power 2 of those tiny "water-dancing" speakers, just for the little extra ligthing. Question here is: does a phone output a strong enough sound signal to provide a z906 with it's recommended signal strength? Does it even matter when the speaker has a built in amp? Does it still provide sufficiently with an aux-splitter (how much does it weaken the signal). I do feel like the systems play alittle quietly...

The bass is very low on my new Sennheiser G4ME Zeros, which I know is a common problem among PCs with bad integrated sound cards. The requirements state a minimum of 50 Ohms, but my motherboard can output 600 Ohms so I don't see why I have this problem. (Yes they are connected directly in to the motherboard, not in the case. lol) Motherboard: MSI z97 MPower MAX AC

Looking at buying a new pair of headphones (upgrade from Turtle Beach X12's i've been using for years). (*I can honestly say I don't think I've ever listened to music on a decent/expensive pair of headphones.) How does the ATH m50x compare to the DT770 sound quality wise? The DT770 has a low 5Hz frequency response compared to the 15Hz of the m50x's, not really sure how important this is for sub/bass. Also been looking at the HD598's - heard good things about them but are they worth the 30% additional cost over the DT770 and M50x? Thanks.

Hi Guys and Girls, after my Monitor upgrade i wanted to go the next huge step and get some good Headphones. I do not know what is better and ask you which of the ones i should take. I´m a newbie if it goes to Headphones. Currently i own Razer Kraken which are absolute shit and Creative Fatal1ty which are a lot better. My Motherboard is a Gigabyte Z97x Gaming 7 which has a Sound Blaster X-Fi3 onbord. I get really impressed by the OHM´s . On the daily bases i play Counter Strike GO, hear Music and watch some Twitch or YouTube. Also i live in Germany and would love to buy on a German Web store (Amazon or Something). My Budget is 150€ MAX. Here are the ones that i consider. 1. Sennheiser HD 558 http://www.amazon.de/Sennheiser-HD-558-Stereo-Kopfh%C3%B6rer-schwarz/dp/B004FEEY9A/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1427485484&sr=1-1-catcorr 2 .Audio Technica ATH-M50x (recommended by m8) http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00HVLUR86/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3OC2K16G18CCT&coliid=I1UE4D065GUF99&psc=1 3. I'm looking to buy the DT 990 250 ohm version, but do I need an AMP to drive all dem ohms? I have seen a lot of nonsense on the internet about it, so I just want an answer... Is it really needed, or is it just to make it sound better? If I stick it in my phone, will I get sound? If an AMP is needed, please recommend me one (please, not to expensive).

Does anyone know how many ohms the audio card that is included with the Asus Maximus VII Gene, can push. I want upgrade my audio but I need to know if I should get a seperate DAC Amp or if i can just save money and stick with this audio solution. Thanks in advance.

Hi LTT. I've been browsing the part of the forum for quite some time and I know there's a lot of these threads and I don't want to interrupt another OP's questions with all my questions. So, I need a new pair of headphones to replace my horrible Roccat Kave 5.1 and I was looking for some second hand deals and found a pair of unused DT 770 Pro. The seller listed them at $145 so I might be able to negotiate them down to $130. If I had to buy the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro from a retailer here in Denmark I would have to pay at least $220. Is the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm good enough for what I intend to use it for. I do a bit of gaming but perfect positioning is not required at all. I've gotten used to the Kave so anything would pretty much be an improvement. I prefer a better music experience over a gaming experience. I live at home right now, so there's some noise and will move to the capital soon where there's a lot more noise. What music do I listen to: Electronic Hardstyle Hardcore Drum and bass Trance Rock/Metal Linkin Park All That Remains Volbeat Sienna Skies I guess there wont be a headset that's perfect for all these genres at the same time. Again I'm coming from a crappy Roccat Kave so everything will be an improvement. Anything I should consider, maybe another headset will be better for me? Hope this is enough information for some of you to help me, otherwise please let me know. Cheers Shaqalac.

When I look at headphones on amazon and all I see is 32 ohm 22 ohm headphones all the time and most of them are from beyerdynamic which is a headphone company known for outstanding headphones and they sell really low impedence headphones and not just these guys but vmoda, audiotechnica, grado, and etc when people buy really high end amps and dacs which can handle 600ohm headphones now why is that

so... i'm really tempted to upgrade from my siberia v2 to something more serious, but i don't know a shit about headphones... i got a basic understanding of sound (the physics behind it, why khz matters, size of the elements, and such) but i have no idea why ohm matters. would someone mind explaining it in a simple way? (or write a freaking book about it, doesn't matter as long as it's understandable) in case it should matter: i'm currently using a xonar dx and the siberia v2, and i'm considering upgrading to the xonar phoebus and some sennheiser hd 598's (or something around that price, recommendations are always welcome)
