I am flipping this older office PC (Dell Inspiron 3847) as a super budget entry level gaming PC and I spent a total of $75 for parts. What do you think is a fair price for this PC? I don’t want to rip anyone off. Specs are in the photos. Parts cost breakdown: $45 AMD Radeon RX 550 $15 Intel 256GB SSD $15 1TB Seagate HDD Тhank you for your answer. It really helps me!

Budget (including currency): Hoping it won't go past $500 (~P25,000 here) Country: Philippines Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming: at 1080p, Subnautica, Minecraft (modded), CSGO, Outlast, Bloons TD 6, GTA V, Fallout NV. I'm not really into the big AAA titles with super realistic graphics, more so thinking of playing older 2010s games and newer indie games, meaning they're not the most graphic demanding games Productivity: Krita, 6k resolution digital art work, Da Vinci Resolve, 720p resolution video work (used to be Filmora 'til I realized Da Vinci is free) Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Recently got into PC building™ and realized how bad my current set up is, like, really bad. So if you think the parts I want to upgrade might look a bit dated in today's standards, then you need to look at what I'm using right now (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DfJFRv) I couldn't list down case or PSU because pcpartpicker doesn't have them in their catalogue, but it's all packed in an Intex IT-516 case, with the PSU being built in to it, most likely not manufactured from reputable brands (It uses spaghetti cables so that probably gives you a good idea on the quality of it). Big red flags you may have noticed is how I don't have an SSD running as boot drive, using only single channel RAM (at a sad 2400mHz due to my mobo + CPU combo) or that I have a poor man's GT 1030 as my graphics card, where a few benchmarks later I've come to realize this is the one component I really need to upgrade the most. With that in mind, I'm looking to upgrade my current rig into something that's much more manageable (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CDwwLs) ofc i'll still be keeping my old hard drive Good news is, I already have the dual channel RAM and the NVMe SSD, they're sitting right here on my desk right now as I'm typing this, I will be installing them by the weekend. Now if you look at the part list you'll notice how everything is a lot costly, no idea why the CV550 costs like that, but here in my country, local shops sell them for much cheaper. And I plan to get a used 1660 from Facebook marketplace, hopefully making everything cost under $500. Unsure if I'll buy everything in bulk, will probably get GPU first, then get everything else after so I can half case swap (I say half since I'd only really case swap the GPU and the HDD) Peripherals I don't really mind them, I'm sporting a 60hz monitor and maybe I'll get a 75hz one in the future. lmk what your thoughts are ^^ perhaps you have part suggestions that do better for around the same price, or maybe I need a higher wattage for my GPU + CPU combo, would love to know!

1. Budget & Location £1000 & UK 2. Aim The system will primarily be used as a central storage device for photographs, CAD files and documents. I acquired a Lenovo ThinkCentre M93 Desktop - Type 10A2. It is a small form factor case with an Intel Core i3-4150 (3.5GHz). This is the basic system I will be using for my build. So far I have upgraded to 24GB RAM (soon to be 32GB). I have also installed an Icy Dock ToughArmor MB606SPO-B to fill with 2.5 inch SSDs as of when they are required. For the time being I am planning to order two Samsung 870 Evo 4TB SSDs which will take up roughly £870 of my budget. I estimate 3-4TB of data will be moved onto them straight away. There is a 3.5 inch bay in the case and possibly room to mount another 2.5 inch drive. There are three SATA ports and one eSATA port on the motherboard. I am looking to get a PCIe SATA expansion card but not sure what to get as there are a lot of them on the market from different manufacturers. The ThinkCentre does not have a WiFi card and there are no ethernet sockets in the house. I looked at powerline adapters for a wired connection to the router. I have other devices like TV boxes that I would like to give an internet connection to as well. We receive about 50 Mbps download and 14 Mbps upload. Running ethernet cables under the floor finishes is not an option either. Perhaps USB WiFi adapters would be better? Can you have too many WiFi devices? It would be nice to upgrade it to an i7-4790 and a low profile GPU but with the current price situation I will not be doing so. In terms of potential desktop use it would be running Autodesk Revit, Adobe CC and Rhinoceros 3D. 3. Monitors Currently there is only one office monitor a 19 inch HP w1907 1440x900 LCD Monitor. However, if I ever get hold of a new power adapter for my LG monitor then I will be able to move my stand-in monitor, a SAMSUNG LS34J550 Quad HD 34" LED Monitor (3440x1440) into the office. 4. Peripherals Windows 10/11 would be the most user friendly option given everyone will use it. It would be nice to have the full NAS functionality that the MyCloud had but shared drives on a local network may be sufficient. There is one Mac device that would need access. I have looked at TrueNAS and UnRaid and the possibility of running a VM on the ThinkCentre but would appreciate any advice on this as it is not something I have done before. I have read and watched a lot on different home server/ NAS set ups and it looks an absolute minefield. I also need to set up a reliable back up system so there is that as well. 5. Why are you upgrading? Our 2TB Western Digital MyCloud NAS is full and is about to lose support and security updates. It would be a lot easier to have a secure central system for storage rather than lots of HDDs none of which are organised. Currently there is not a desktop in the office with laptops instead being interchanged with a monitor but a communal office desktop would be a lot more desirable.

Hello there, I am looking for a cheap and decently reliable PSU for an office PC that pulls around 200W as it runs on integrated graphics. The PSU won't be that strained as most of the time the PC will be used for web browsing

Hey! I had a Dell Vostro 230 that got given to me awhile ago for work and I decided to give it an upgrade. Current Specs: 4GB DDR3 HYNIX RAM Su800 ultimate 256gb ssd Nvidia quadro k600 1gb 435w HP psu Intel Quad Core q8400 2.66Ghz I was thinking about upgrading the ram to 8gigs but on their website it says it only supports a max of 4, so I look around on some forums and saw that there was talk of 8 gigs working with specific ram types. I need help figuring out what to buy and my budget is $65 CAD Thank you :)

Hey everyone, I am in need of a new office pc for work and am having trouble finding the right case to put it in. The contents are straight forward, an Intel Pentium G4560 processor, a yet to be determined m-itx mobo, and M.2 storage. I am looking to get the case as small as possible. Most cases I am finding still allow room for a GPU, which is a good amount of size more than I need. I am flexible on the type of power supply, but do not want an external brick. To clarify, I have built several gaming PCs before and have a solid idea of what I am doing. My work situation is annoying and employees are highly encouraged to provide their own office computers (computer bays are present but they are very inconvenient to use). My laptop of 5 years died recently and I need a new computer to use at work, and since that original laptop purchase I have grown to fancy using a desktop more than a laptop for extended periods of time. Unless I am unaware of something, the G4560 should suffice for what I need (spreadsheets, word processing, web surfing, light coding and matlab use), at least when compared to an i3. I am open to hardware suggestions, but my primary goal is to find a small form factor case to put my selected parts into. This may not be possible (again selecting my own parts are important), and if so then no worries. I have seen the in win chopin, and while I like it a lot I feel like I can cut down on 4.4 liters. If the community has any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i wish i'm not in the wrong forum I build this pc about 3 weeks ago, cable management wasn't easy at all with this power supply, what you see now that's the best i can do with the cable. Processor : INTEL Core I3 6100 Mobo : Gigabyte GA H110M DS2 RAM : 4GB DDR4 2133 MHz from Apacer HDD : SEAGATE 1TB PSU : EVGA 430W CASE : CUBE GAMING LUXE ($20) I want to upgrade this pc a few months to go, i would like to add Grapic card (RX 470?) i want to play game though, with this current pc i can only play DOTA 2, more RAM, AIO COOLER, also want to change the crappy fan from the case with some decent fans What do you think guys? do you have any idea what to do with the cable from non modular power supply? it's rather irritate my eye

Hi there I was wondering if some of you could help me. I have recently sold my gaming pc because I have realised I wasn't gaming as often as I used to. I'm now on my old laptop. I'd like to build a new desktop tho, I'm not really sure on parts yet. I'm searching for a cheap, very reliable and stable motherboard for the current intel cpu's (LGA1151). I'm not planning on overclocking and I probably am gonna buy a i5-6500. I'm planning on building a compact pc so a M-ITX motherboard is needed. I had a Gigabyte Motherboard before and wasn't really keen on its UEFI and stability. Ports I need: -many USB Ports, as my mouse, keyboard and external HDD already use 4 of them (3 USB2.0, 1 USB3.0) -HDMI graphics output as im relying on the iGPU (at least for now) -5.1 surround sound output either on 3.5mm jacks or optical Toslink jack Ports that would be nice: -USB3.1 Type C Port Prices up to around 100 US$ I've searched for a long time but couldnt really find a really good one. I was wondering if it would be worth it waiting for kaby lake processors which are said to be released in the beginning of 2017. I could wait as my laptop does work for the moment. The pc is being used for office applications(microsoft office), internet browsing (chrome) and maybe later light gaming with a later added GPU. Thank you very much for your help

I'm looking to build a PC that can function as a home office. Something that can load spreadsheets quickly and store lots of data, and yes, I want it to play games on it relatively well. 1. Price: I'm looking to spend around $0-$600ish dollars on this build, but cheaper is preffered. 2. Aim: Like I said, this is going to be an office PC. I want something that can run office programs and, this is a big one, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere. If at all possible I would also like it to run games, such as Diablo III at a decent framerate. (I don't need anything crazy for gaming, though, because Diablo III is probably the most GPU demanding game I will ever play) [Skipping step three because I already have a good monitor] 4. Peripherals: I already have a mouse and keyboard on stand-by, but suggestions would be nice , I also want Windows 10 5. Why I'm Upgrading: I currently use a pre-built Dell PC (The Inspiron 660) and it runs like a mushy potato. It's slow and it gets very hot, the parts are very old and it's just time to replace it. I went ahead and created a PC with those specifications, feedback and ideas are welcome. Case: Corsair Carbide Series 200R [ATX Mid-Tower] Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z170X-UD5 [LGA 1151 Slot] CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3M 3.7 GHz [LGA 1151 Slot] CPU Cooler: COOLERMASTER RR-212X-20PM-R1 120mm RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 8GB 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM [x1 Stick] GPU: GeForce GTX 680 2GB DDR3 PCI-E [x1 GPU] Power Supply: EVGA 600 B1 600W 80+ Bronze HDD: WD Blue 1TB Desktop HDD 7200 RPM 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch [x2 HDDs'] All of this is complete guesswork on my part, due to my lack of PC knowledge. Please help

So my dad is starting to work from home now so i wanted to surprise him with a dope machine that can do all kids of office apps like Word, Excel and most importantly Access. I came up with a parts list: ASUS PRIME B360M-D INTEL I3 8300 (20EUR more over i3 8100) KINGSTON HyperX DDR4 2666Mhz 8GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO 250GB CASE is reused as well as the PSU (Chieftec GPE700S - an EU brand) HDD WD BLUE 1TB 7200RPM Windows 10 PRO 64bit Office Professional 2016 So motherboard must be the same and the ram must be the same for anything else i will take recommendations (SERIAL PORT and NVME support, and RAM is just the cheapest stick of 8gb i could find so...) What would you change, thanks ahead Also i live in Eastern Europe but that wont affect anything else as much as the price Thanks in advance !

Budget (including currency): R 3,125 (186,11 USD) Country: South Africa Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly office, business, home PC type of stuff, nothing overly fancy maybe some low-end gaming to round out the system's capabilities Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Not gonna buy anytime soon, but more or less planning for when I do part-time PC building as a side hustle while I study next year. When it comes to gaming, maybe being able to play older games (as in 2012 and earlier) at 60 fps. I haven't added any detailed specs yet cause I'm not sure as to what specs I can use for an office pc that's cheap yet effective? But I have these specs in mind for the machine: 8 GB DDR4 (either dual or single channel at 2666MHz) 256 GB SSD (and maybe like a 500 GB HDD?) Thanks in advance for the help, guys!

I'm building my dad an affordable office PC, and I've gotten all the components besides the CPU. My dad is only using this PC for office purposes; that includes things like Microsoft Office, third-party programs to punch in numbers (he deals with finance) and Google Chrome. I ordered the Ryzen 3 3200G off Amazon on June 24th and it was set to deliver in 4 days, however they've pushed it back twice now and are asking for my approval yet again to have it delivered by August 7th; I've given up on it at this point. I was originally pairing the Ryzen 3 3200G with a MSI B450M PRO-M2 MAX Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard and a 400W power supply. However now that I've chosen to find another CPU - and the prices of CPU have gone up since then (I'm trying to stay within the $75-90 CPU range I was initially within) - I've been thinking of getting the AMD Athlon 220GE. It goes for $80 on Amazon, which is only $7 cheaper than the Ryzen 3 3200G when I bought it - so it's in a similar ballpark regarding pricing. Does anyone know if there is a better alternative that could work with the motherboard I've already received?

Hi, Will I see real life performance gains if I just upgraded the cpu from 4160 >4770? The pc is my work pc. I have no trouble running photoshop and all Adobe cc full suite software, 3d viewer software, autodesk recap. I usually have 2*27" monitors on all the time with the third for customers when needed. Since I don't have a higher/powerful cpu, I am not sure if I am missing anything. my current setup is this : i3-4160 512 GGB SSD SATA 16 GB RAM GTX 770 2x 27"1440p monitor, 1x 1080p 24" monitor. P.S. This topic is in the wrong sub forum. Sorry for the mistake.

I am planning to build a pc for my father for OFFICE USE. He is mainly gonna do accounts on it so i need a basic PC. he is using Core 2 duo which is now starting show it's age. i am now confused between ryzen 2200g and 7100. is there any stability issue with this new skew cause he won't be able to troubleshoot it when i am out. i want something that will last him more than 10 years down the line. budget is limited so no other cpu recommendation. He doesn't want a Pentium I just don't know why. Thanks

Hello! Is AMD FX-4300, GT 710 2gb and 8 gb 1600 mhz RAM enough for LibreOffice, internet browsing and for watching videos in 1080p? I'm pretty sure that it will be enough but I just want to check.

Hey guys, I am building a PC for a friend of mine on short notice and these are the parts I was planning to get. The PC is specifically for office use and video streaming only, but the friend wants upgradability and lag-free use of all basic programs. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/b9Qw6X The case and PSU are placeholders so far. Also, please note that I am ordering only in Germany. Any thoughts on the system? Cheers, ildamon

i need a fast pc for office use for around 600 euros italy. dont need windows just the rig. also dont need to look good as well as it will be under the main desk where i cant see it budget can go up down a bit if there is a big performance increase.

Hi Guys, My father's friend asked me to build a new pc for him for home use (Internet, music, videos, some flash games and so on...). It's not the fanciest thing in the world, but here's the build (I didn't use pcpartpicker because some parts weren't available): I know that power supplies integrated into cases aren't really good, but I read good feedbacks from buyers and he's on a really tight budget. So, what do you think about it? Should i change something?

So, fairly soon I am going to be building my mother a new office PC for her work, and I just found out my budget for it is going to be a bit bigger than I thought it was. A while back, my dad asked me about building him a PC for him to backup his work laptop on. So I got to wondering if I couldn't kill two birds with one stone. Is there a way that I could set up the new office PC to function as a NAS as well? If so, how would I do it? I have no experience with NAS what so ever. Basically, I want to have an office computer for my mom, that also shows up wirelessly for my dad to connect to via his laptop, and upload his work files.

I'm currently building an office PC for my mother to replace a 6 year old notebook. The primary tasks are Chrome, Office, maybe basic things in GIMP and some software for education and its lifetime is to be expected at about 3 to 5 years. As I will be using some of my old hardware to build it, I only need advice on some of them that are left now. Moreover, some hardware has already been bought. So these are the parts I want to get: CPU: Intel Core i3 4170 PC1150 3 MB Cache 3,7 GHz retail PSU: be quiet! System Power 7 300W ATX 2.31 (BN140) Mainboard: MSI H81M-E34 (7817-058R) Tower: VS4 - W ATX PC CASE DVD: LG Electronics GH24NSC0 schwarz Cooler: ARCTIC Freezer 13 Down below I'll make some statements what I thought about the hardware, please feel free to correct it if you think I'm wrong. For the CPU I thought about the i3 as it gives more power than Intel's Celeron which I feel will be limited after a few years. As this will be the only component which processes data (DGPU is unecessary) it should have at least some power. I'm not a friend of AMD, but their CPUs are still considerable, but I'm not into AMD so no idea what would be good. What do you think about Intel's i3 power efficient CPUs? There are no boxed versions and a little bit slower, but are only using 35W The PSU was the cheapest I could find here in Austria which has at least 80 GOLD. Cheaper ones were completely no name, which is not good at all. 300W should definitely be enough for this PC configuration. I expect it to use 150W at max and maybe about 40 to 50W idling. The mainboard was also the cheapest for the 1150 socket with at least 4 USB 3.0 (I think having more than 2 USB 3.0 ports is now essential, even though I know I could add them via PCIe, but I don't know if that's really good (drivers, issues maybe, is there any real difference)? I do think that there has to be 1x 4-pin for the CPU cooler and 2 of at least 3-pin fan connectors for intake and outtake (1 fan won't cool properly in my opinion). Would you say that 1 fan at the front and 1 at the back is enough (12 or 14cm)? 2 at the front would be too much and without one at the back, the airflow is not really good. 3 chassis fans would require a more expensive motherboard (no need I guess?) and MOLEX might be nice, but changing the speed of the fans etc. is more complicated, I prefer to directly connect it to the motherboard. For the DVD drive I just picked the most valuable one. SecurDisk seems not to be a real deal and 2 MB cache instead of 0,5 MB is really neglectable. It will be used for watching DVDs, ripping CDs and installing software for education. Maybe Windows, so used pretty rarely. The CPU cooler is the one I currently have in my gaming rig and even though it's big, it's pretty silent and adds some good cooling power. I'm not seeking to build a silent PC but the fan should be as quiet as possible and will be running at minimum speed 90% of the time (that's what I want). Another question would be if you can operate an i3 with only the heatsink of e.g. the ARCTIC Freezer 13 without the fan? Just interested The tower is a midi-tower indeed, but that is for the ease of installation and for the looks. All mini-towers were pretty ugly and also more expensive than 30 bucks. If you suggest another tower, it should have at least 2 USB 3.0 ports at the front and should look like a box (so flat front, not some weird forehead-like bloated surface). Already there: SSD: 240 GB Samsung 840 EVO HDD: 500 GB WD Black RAM: 2x4 GB 1600MHZ DDR3 Crucial Ballistix Sport Monitor: BenQ GL2250HM 21,5 Zoll (+Keyboard/Mouse/Speakers we already have)

Okay, my mom has recently begun experiencing issues with her office computer. It's and HP (yuck) prebuilt thing she got for like, 500 bucks from a local pc store. It was half way decent when she got it, but by now it's degraded from my family being smokers, and generally from being old. I've tried cleaning it out, and cleaning up the OS, and the difference that made has been absolutely negligible. I will list what I know about it, and what the goal is. CPU: I3 550? (That's all windows will tell me) Ram: 4gb (2x2). No idea what speed That's really all I know about the damned thing, as windows (being wonderful) won't really tell me more. My plan is simply to replace the motherboard and cpu, and reuse the rest of the system, although I might replace the PSU that came with it, with my spare EVGA 500w 80+bronze psu that I keep on my desk for various things. My goal is to make her a "new" system that's much snappier, and will last her a fairly decent amount of time. I do plan on reusing the RAM, case, hdd, disc drive, etc. My biggest problem right now is that I don't know what kind of motherboard to get (that will fit the case) and what type of CPU to get. She doesn't need something that can overclock, but I do think she needs a 4 core at the least. The work she does on it is real estate appraisal, so she does scan a lot of things onto the computer, and does run PDF editing software, as well as various appraisal specific softwares (I have no idea what they are, but I know they bog down her computer pretty badly as it is). I am thinking an H97 Matx motherboard (I think, I am not sure what size of motherboard is in there now), and some kind of locked I5 cpu to go with it. Her overall budget is about 300 (MAYBE) 400 dollars. But if you can get below this that would be great. I am currently trying to convince her to get a small SSD for the OS to go on. Appreciate any help you guys can give me on this. Edit: just a side note, this is just planning for the moment, she doesn't have much money right now, so this build might not be happening for a month or 2. Just trying to get a general idea of what my best options would be.
