Kind of a rant but also want some feedback if anyone else has dealt with similar issues. Also let me know if not allowed, just kind of salty and wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has had a similar one. I purchased a Samsung 49" Neo G9, it arrived DOA, Samsung sent a tech out within two days to look it over. The tech figures the power control board was bad and he replaces it. Monitor powers up and I get it setup and start gaming. About an hour in I notice it has a stuck pixel. Uh-oh. Try all the massage techniques, the works. Bright pink stuck pixel, so out of curiosity I pull up a solid white background. To my horror I find not just another stuck pixel but eight more stuck/dead pixels. Four of which are a whole group making a black/grey blotch. They weren't super noticeable because I literally use everything in dark mode. So I hit up Samsung support again and they say they'll send the tech back out within a few days to replace the panel. Ok, fair enough. I continue playing around with the monitor and it's features, enable infinity core lighting, LEDs are dull as hell, whatever, no biggie, figure it's just how it's supposed to be. Enable picture sync. Switch monitor to PBP to play some tarkov(was working perfectly fine before). And boom. Monitor makes a popping noise and black screens, trips the VGA light on my computer. Have to hard reset both the monitor and the computer as well as disable infinity core lighting to get it to properly display again. So infinity core lighting trips a power surge I guess if I try using it with PBP. Ok, great. So I email Samsung and they say that it's not supposed to do that. Say they're just going to send me a brand new monitor for my troubles. Wait a week and a half, no new monitor, no updates. Get sick of waiting and call. Samsung rep says they are out of 49" Neos and for the hassle and to relieve my issues as quickly as possible has approved sending me a Odyssey G9 Neo 57". Ok cool, yeah I'll take a free upgrade. Well, fast forward to yesterday, two and a half weeks of waiting for the 57" to be delivered via freight. Shipper inspects it for damage, good to go. He takes the old 49" with him. Get it all setup, it was a hassle, need a bigger desk, thing is huge. As I am enjoying an actually pretty solid visual experience playing some RDR2 I see it... A big ole patch of dead freaking pixels in the bottom left. Wtf. This is a brand new unopened, freshly manufactured monitor. And it's MSRP is $2499, huh. How the hell do you get a cluster that large of dead pixels and not see them in QA checking? Blows my mind. So again, back to Samsung, I am now having to wait another two weeks(not sure on exact timeframe that's just how long it took last time) for a new 57" to be shipped out. Honestly, just pretty disappointed, Samsung's QA must just be slipping?

Hello all, I have some questions for Odyssey G9/ G9 Neo users, well really one question specifically. I currently have a dual monitor setup(2x 27" QHD displays) mounted side by side. A buddy of mine recently got a new monitor and wants to sell me his less than a year old G9 Neo G95NA for pennies on the dollar because I helped him build his new PC. I have never used an ultrawide nor a curved monitor before, luckily he is going to let me test it out over the weekend to try to get a feel for it before I pull the trigger on it. My main question is how the PIP/PBP works, I know you can use multiple devices and PIP to make it a dual monitor setup. But can I set it up like it's dual monitors using only my desktop? No other devices connected? There are only a couple use cases for me to need a secondary screen up, the main one being when playing Tarkov with friends as we setup streams in discord so we can see what everyone else does at all times, it helps for mitigating teamkilling and better target acquisition. 90% of the time I'm going to be using it in full playing singleplayer games or games where I don't need to have a stream or discord up but for when I want to multitask I'd like to be able to set it up as essentially two separate displays but running off of only the 4090 in my desktop. I've heard of programs that allow for it, but I'm not sure which one to use or if the monitor can just do it with a specific setting without the need for a third party program at all? If anyone could give me some insight or recommendations that would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

So a little while ago I had an issue with my Odyssey G9 Neo where you hear a loud pop and then my monitor gained a very nice crack right down it. After doing some digging turns out I'm not the only one who has had this issue and now I'm fighting to try and get Samsung to even take a look at it let alone even repair it. They first sent me to a place close by to where I live. Contacted them as requested by Samsung to have them come back and say uh we don't work on this but we will check with Samsung to see if we can. That was 2 months ago and with constant back and forth trying to find out if they have gotten anywhere. Today I will be calling Samsung again to try and get this to start moving but honestly I need help. I can afford to replace a $2500 monitor and for that kind of money this is something that just shouldn't happen. I have asked around to many places for help to get some coverage on this but yea we all know how that song and dance goes. Honestly any advise at all would be welcomed. Update: After they looked at a picture they have said it is physical damage and will not repair it. Keep in mind they have not physicals looked at it just a picture I took. So guess we get to go through this whole process again...

Hi All, My old reliable monitor recently died and I now need to purchase a new setup. I will be using my setup for productivity and flight sim. I care about high resolution over refresh rate as my flight sim rarely passes 60 fps. I also need a lot of screen real estate as I work with multiple browser tabs and excel sheets open at once. I was really excited to wait and see what reviews were on the new 57" Odyssey, as I have been waiting for a high resolution ultra-wide, but now that my current monitor died I am not sure if I can wait until the 57" comes out. The new 49" G95SC OLED caught my attention, but Samsung's website is riddled with 1-star reviews citing a variety of concerning quality problems for such an expensive monitor. Then, I looked at 4k monitors and found the Dell G3223Q to be acceptable for both flight sim and productivity, but due to a Samsung discount I could get the 49" OLED for the same price as these two Dell 4k displays. What are your thoughts on this dilemma? Should I try to limp by without a monitor until the 57" ultra wide releases (supposedly 9/11/2023), should I risk the quality concerns and lower resolution of the OLED 49", should I get the ol' reliable dell setup, or is there another monitor setup that you would recommend? Thank you all in advance for your help!

I originally made the post on reddit about issues and recalls on the 1st edition Samsung Odyssey G9. I have since returned 2 of the original Ody G9s, under recall. If you own one, they will allow you to return it, without question, for a full refund. All you have to do is keep telling them "its under recall".Even when they want to send someone out to troubleshoot it, just tell them "no, its under recall." They are under recall due to a 240hz horizontal scan line issue (as seen here: https://i.imgur.com/7P7K7Ls.png). I went through 2 monitors, hoping one with an updated manufacture date would resolve the issue. It didnt. My next thought was, "ok, lets return the 2nd one and get the Ody Neo G9, upgraded panel. They must have this issue fixed in this panel right?" WRONG. The horizontal scan line issue STILL EXISTS in this new Neo G9 panel. The updated monitor and panel are nice, I'll say that. There are additional buttons for quick switching between monitor settings (profiles). Its a bit more durable (doesnt move around as much), the frame has a more streamlined look to it, the colors and contrast are quite a bit better than the original. The blacks are amazing. Im not sure what Im going to do. Who knows if this issue will ever be fixed. It's not present in 120hz, only in 240hz, so at least Ive got that going for me. I am certainly going to reach out to Samsung support and have them look at this. For awhile they were saying that replacing the mainboard on the monitor was resolving it for the 1st edition. But then later they told me that was no longer an option. I wanted to share this with all of you that are looking at upgrading to ultra-wide. I will post more updates as I get them. tl;dr - New Samsung Ody Neo G9 has the same horizontal scan line issues at 240hz that are under recall on the first Ody G9.

New build update 10/3/22 CPU: Intel 13900k Cooler: Arctic 420 Motherboard: ROG Maximus Z790 Ram: UNKNOWN Storage: SN850X 2tb + older SSD's from last build Video Card: 4090 Case: Phantex 600S Power Supply: Thermal Take Toughpower GF3 1200w Notes: Looking for advice on RAM __________________________________________________________________________ Original Post Budget (including currency): ~$3500 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: StarCitizen, MMOs, Black Desert Online, Recording footage, light video editing, Other details: Current PC(2016): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qpHpwP Monitor: Odyssey G9 - 5120x 1440 - 240hz New build so far: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VBFtrD When I plan to buy: Oct 20th Intel vs AMD: Depending on the price for the Intel parts, I may go with them as my primary game is StarCitizen and supposedly everyone has seen a major improvement with CPU's with more cores and intel will have the 24 core CPU. CPU: The top processor for either AMD or Intel, however it does depend on the price as 7950x is already beyond what I wanted to spend but I would prefer more cores. CPU Cooler: I'm really set on getting the Arctic 420 cooler. Motherboard: Depends which CPU I end up with but I do want a mid-high grade. I dont have experience overclocking other than auto but if I get AMD I think I will as I hear it helps. Memory: Currently I wanted to buy the cheapest DDR5 ram that's 32gb and 2 sticks. Can anyone confirm or deny the 2 sticks better than 4 for ddr5 and overclocking? Storage: Currently set on the WD Black SN850X, will be my first M.2 and thinking of having a 2TB work for all my games until I can afford another. Video Card: 4090 , would prefer 4080ti but waited so long, I'm ready to upgrade! Case: I already have a Phantek p600s Power Supply: So this one is up in the air at the moment. I would really like to get an ATX 3.0 PSU made for the new gen GPUs but I'm worried it wont release by the 4090s release. =/ Kinda don't know what to do with this at the moment. I do currently have a Corsair AXi 860w but just worried the 4090 will require much more. I'm wanting to build a new PC by Oct-Nov in the hopes I'm actually able to get a 4090 as I dont want to wait for the 4080 preferably. I've been trying to plan the build but keep finding things out every day that I would have messed up and thought I should ask some experts on what to do. I did want to mention, a big goal is to be able to finally utilize my Odyssey G9 at 240hz and fullscreen. Been killing me having such a nice monitor but cant even get over 60hz or fullscreen most games with my current build. Also was curious, has there been any news on if buying GPUs/CPUs will be easier this time around or any advice? I just remember it was a nightmare before, so bad I've even considered buying a pre-built, I just have no idea who I'd go through if I did. If you have any input on the build, parts, or general advice, please let me know. I would appreciate input from more experienced people, thank you!

Hello all, This is my first time posting to this forum, and I'm sure someone will comment that I didn't post in the right place, or something along those line, so I apologies in advanced if that is the case! As the title expresses, I am experiencing some odd issues with my new Samsung G9 monitor and it's HDR 1000 feature. Although, I am not sure if its the G9 that is causing these problems, or another piece of hardware, or even software being the culprit. Issue #1 (with HDR turned on) When at the login screen/ logout screen / task manager screen, there is a constant flashing / flickering until I enter my password and enter Windows, or re-enter Windows. Once I return to Windows world the issues stops. Although, the second I return to windows world, the screen undergoes a brightness adjustment. Not sure if that is normal with HDR. I do not experience screen flickering in any other forms, besides mentioned. With HDR disabled, these screens are all normal, and the issue does not occur. Issue #2 (with HDR turned on) As I alluded to earlier about the brightness adjustments, also, randomly occurring when gaming, and even sometimes when just browsing the web or at the desktop, although I mostly recall it happening primarily when gaming, the brightness will shoot straight up until the screen is practically white, and re-adjust back to the correct levels within a couple seconds, obliterating my eyes. This can happen a couples times, once or never during a session. I am not sure what's triggering it. As pointed out, this issue only occurs when HDR is enabled in Windows display settings. When I disable HDR, I do not experience any of the above issues. Possible 3rd issue I cannot not seem to get nvidia control panel to display the monitor running at 240hz. It only allows me to select 60hz and 120hz. I do have it selected in the monitors menu, along with response time = fastest, and adaptive = sync disabled. I did have a chat with a guy from nvidia about this issue, and he mentioned that he was pretty sure that a 1080ti did not support 5120x1440 at 240hz, only at 120hz. Although, he did not seem sure of himself. I am currently running 3 screens, including the G9. I did see in Linus's review of the G9, and that he had a little hiccup when trying to get the monitor to run at 240hz, but was able to correct it. I am assuming he was running a RTX 2080ti, which may be the reason I cannot get it to run at 240hz because of a bottle neck, which is fine, just would like to validate there is nothing wrong with the hardware. I plan on upgrading to RTX 3090, which would allow me to test this issue, but who knows when they will be available, and I'd like to get this sorted, because having a $2,000 monitor that your not sure is running properly, and there was a weird recall involving quality control, and other sketchy things, bugs me out, along with the fact that you can't purchase the G9 presently, at least that I'm aware of. So, I am trying to solve/ understand these problems, so that I can make a proper decision if whether I need to RMA, and go down that sad, long trail. Other than these minor issues, the monitor runs great, truly a treat to game on. Would not want to down grade, unless this product was indeed faulty. My set up; Windows 10 Home Version = 1909 OS Build = 18363.1082 nVidia Driver = 451.67 Intel i9990k 32 GB ram GTX 1080ti Asus Formula X mobo Samsung 970 EVO M.2 Thank you so very much! : )
