OK, I saw the video that showed Linus updating a old phone so I have a nice in perfect condition Samsung Note 3 which I put away. I found some nice deals on new battery for it but was stuck on what software to add to it? I found that you can add android pie to it but is that good? what would be a good software to use on it so that it's safe? I don't remember the software OS Linus used in the video and I can't find that video so was hoping someone would see this and help me bring life back to my old phone I really liked it.

I Bought a replacement screen about 2 months ago and I removed the board, screen ect. I got it back together and I've noticed that its started to get hotter and hotter with game use and Youtube. I know there are different thicknesses of tape and my searches have turn up nothing on what thickness tape that is used on the note 3. I'm wondering if anyone has any insight on this thanks in advance.

So my trusty 1st gen Moto G is really showing its age as of late, with the lack of expandable storage, 1GB RAM, relatively small screen and no 4G to boot my phone has become pretty lacklustre.. I'm hoping to finally get a new phone at the end of the month, but as I eagerly researched budget phone (less than 200 euro) I had a eureka moment, why not get an older flagship..? And here I am, torn between all the choices, like the Note 3, HTC One M8,LG G3 etc. But here is my problem, I quickly realised (after almost falling for the Note 3) that these phones won't be getting updates, I know the M8 has Marshmallow and the G3 has plans to get it. My problem is I want a phone that'll last at least another year and a half without getting sluggish. So my questions are, should I get a newer budget phone (feel free to recommend one) or go for the older flagship route? Will the older flagships become completely outdated in the next 2 years? Or am I being paranoid? (Because damn I want a note 3 so bad) As a side note, I live in Ireland so prices due to the Euro's state at the moment are pretty dismal... (I'll probably buy from a UK site if they deliver to Ireland) What I want in the phone is: 4g At least 2GB RAM 1080p (preferably) Expandable storage Big ass screen, the bigger the better, I have big hands And a strong enough processor to easily multitask for the next year and a bit. If you've any other questions let me know, thanks.

Hello, I'm trying to record a 1080p video at 60fps on my Samsung Note 3 (if anyone else still has one). I was wondering if you guys could help me with the setting, I've checked the specifications of the device on GSM Arena and it is able to record at this frame rate, however I am unsure of how to set the frame rates like on an iPhone. I've included a screenshot of the settings I am aware of.

Hey guys, So I've been using a Galaxy Note 3 for about 17 months now, and I loved this phone. However, here recently its come down with a bunch of issues. Phone batter does not even last half the day, by noon I'm having to recharge it from dead. Although thats not a huge issue for me, its kind of annoying. Wifi on my Note 3 has completely been thrown out the window, I can either look at pictures on online, watch a video at 240p, Snapchat, or barely browse Facebook, but NOTHING can be running at the same time, otherwise phone will freeze up and drop wifi connection. And even if I'm very careful about what I'm running it'll still randomly drop. Phone calls drop, 4G is stronger but randomly will drop, it usually takes around 3 tries to get a text message to send. And if an app automatically updates... my phone might as well be a paper weight while it updates, not only dropping multiple times when trying to update, but going at a very slow rate. Usually when the wifi and 4G issues start acting up, anything from turning off/on the wifi and sometimes Air Plane mode will fix it for a short period of time, sometimes restarting my phone is necessary too. But I've tinkered around in the phone settings trying to find what could be causing the issue, tinkered around in my router settings thinking it could be something related to that, nothing. I eventually just went and factory reset my phone, but the problems STILL remained. My plan doesn't have me upgrade until May of 2016, which is still a long ways away. I would love to be able to find a fix for my phone to last me at least until then. If not, should I just try and get rid of this phone and find a cheap option? As always, thanks for the help.

Whenever i call someone or receive a call it ends automatically after few seconds. I have even updated the android from kitkat to Lollipop but the problem still retains. I have even checked the manually end call option but still nothing.

The Galaxy Note 3 is the phone that arguably kickstarted the interest in larger phones, or phablets, with its fairly large 5.7 inch 1080x1920 display. But is it a good phone? Let's find out... Display The display is really nice, it is truly large enough to be able to enjoy watching a movie, reading a book or anything else you seek to do on a smartphone. It doesn't bode well against screen glare though - even on a higher brightness the screen is practically useless when there's a lot of sunlight. The display is suitably sensitive as well and has great viewing angles, ultimately, I would give it a 7/10. Software Here is my biggest gripe with the phone and what made me fall out of love with Android as a whole, Android manufacturers are including crap software and bloatware on their phones which are often impossible to remove without rooting and even then, removing the software and bloatware can sometimes cause serious problems. TouchWiz is ugly, clunky, resource-heavy and crash-happy to the point where I wonder why Samsung even included it in the first place. We also have to suffer the horrors of Knox; some sort of software security tool which will void your warranty if you attempt to root your phone meaning that you, as an Android user, are being limited which is ironic because the point of Android is being able to be free to do as you please. The sad part is that a lot of the bloatware that Samsung includes solely exists just to act as a tech demo for the phone which in practice seems stupid to me. The "tech demo app" for the Galaxy Note 3 is the note taking app, or, S Note - an app that works wonderfully with the included stylus but could just as easily be replaced by any other note taking app. I also feel disgruntled at the fact that this software is basically Samsung's excuse to bulk out the Galaxy Note 3 by including a stylus and a holster for said stylus. Why not make another version of the Note 3 which is slimmer or has a bigger battery so that we don't have to be stuck with a stylus that you'll only ever use a handful of times before getting bored with it? I do like, however, the multi-window tool which allows for multiple apps to be used at the same time, so you can watch a video on YouTube while playing a game such as 2048, but when multi-window isn't in use, it is truly an obstacle. You can accidentally press it and you'll have the little white menu appear or you could try and watch a movie and the arrow on wherever on the screen you moved it will block some of your view. But, it is actually practical, so I will let it off. I can really dig the eye scrolling tool, but sometimes it just doesn't work and you end up actually having to tilt your head to scroll instead of just moving your eyes. You also can't scroll to the side with your eyes, or rather, head which is disappointing because longer e-mails would sometimes require you to need to do that. Oh, and ignore the stock Samsung web browser because even though that supports eye scrolling, it's slow and it sucks. 4/10 Aesthetics, or look and feel Samsung made a phone which definitely looks better than a lot of their previous models with a silver border and a really thin bezel, the front of the phone has an LED for notifications which can sometimes be annoying when you're trying to watch a movie or show and you also have a half-decent camera at the front. The front speaker which is only used for calls does stick out, but it doesn't look awful, so I won't complain. What does look awful, however, is the flimsy faux-leather back. It comes off really easily and is too bendy for my liking because it just perpetuates the cheap image that Samsung are criticised for. The side of the phone is all-plastic with some chrome looking paint which does eventually wear off which is a shame because from a distance it can look really good. The various buttons on the phone are non-obstructive and it is clear which button is which due to their clearly different sizes and of course, there's the now-iconic home button and the non-physical 'back' and 'menu' buttons which really do come in handy and light up when pressed. That's cool. What isn't cool is that Samsung tries to tell everyone that their phones are sexy and trendy now before giving us this quite frankly awful looking charger port which requires a really wide connector to supply power to it. I can appreciate that charging can be done in no time at all thanks to the larger charger and wall socket, but if you plug the phone into anything else but the wall, as far as I've seen, the Galaxy Note 3 actually charges slower which is a shame because that means you can't transfer files to your PC or laptop while charging it fast enough to get out of the door when you need to. I also feel as if I should point out that the phone is not really scratch resistant and it picked up a few scratches from small drops which are very, very noticeable. 6/10 Hardware The Galaxy Note 3 is powerful. It has a meaty 2.3 ghz quad-core processor and an Andreno 330 GPU which allow for some solid mobile gaming so you can be certain that your favourite waiting simulators such as Clash of Clans and Boom Beach can run very smoothly. There are three variants of the phone, the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models, all of which support expandable storage which quite frankly is fantastic and in my opinion, that's what the iPhone sorely lacks. Again, I refer to the colourful display which has great viewing angles and whatnot but is still defeated by screen glare. I also have to point out that the phone gets very hot under load sometimes which makes me question how cool this phone actually is. The cameras are underwhelming. There is no support for decent slow motion, the highest framerate you can achieve is 120 FPS at 720p - not exactly the best. The 4K footage you can shoot looks alright but again, not great. The camera app has a lot of features which take full advantage of both the phone's camera's fantastic sensors but is let down by a general lack of functionality in some places. Also, the focus is a load of garbage on the phone. If you like taking photos or play the selfie game then I would not recommend using this phone's camera. 7/10 Is the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 a disastrous phone? No. If you can get it for a cheap price then I would actually encourage you to buy it. But this phone is betrayed by poor hardware optimisation, middling software and DRM, a wimpy camera and other issues with the overall look of the phone. The design on the phone in some places is well and beyond flimsy which is a shame because Samsung also tried to make their phones look premium so that consumers wouldn't look the other way towards Apple, but in doing so, the phone looks worse by sticking to a plastic and faux-leather construct. This phone scores a total of 24/40, or, a 6/10.

Hi guys. I have the octa core Galaxy Note 3 and I'm wondering, how can I confirm that the big.LITTLE actually works? Is there an app that would let me see that the "LITTLE"(Cortex-A7s) part of the CPU is running at all? Because I remember reading that S4 had an hardware defect that meant it would only use the "big" (Cortex-A15s) part of the CPU. I tried an app called "System Monitor", it let's you see which clockspeed cpu cores are running at and what kind of load they are under and I could only see 4 cores. It makes sense because only 4 can run at one time but the clock speeds that I saw made me question if the A7 cores are even running. As I mentioned in the tittle the clock speeds seemed weird to me. I saw the Snapdragon 800 version on Youtube and its clockspeeds and core usage was about what you would expect. Only 1-2 cores while going through the UI not too much clock speed, maybe go 3 cores and increase the speed, run a benchmark app and they all go full capacity... Samsung eh... But my version was nothing alike to that. For starters there is always 4 cores running no matter what you do, which might be the way the Exynos 5 is designed, I don't know, but the speeds were the real issue. Just scrolling through the UI and all 4 cores max out at 1.9 GHz!? Amusingly, that's the only time that actually happens. Even while running apps, the speeds show variability but going through the homescreens!!!! Max them all out, damn you! I guess the heaviest thing this phone faces is the TouchWiz. Going back to the A7s, because of the high clock speeds we can rule out them working while no apps running, which I always thought what was going on. So I tried enabling the power saving mode since that has an option to throttle the CPU, although it doesn't say how. I thought only A7s would work but no. Power saving mode only throttles the CPU to 1.4 GHz, meaning it's still the A15s running since A7s run at 1.3 GHz. So. I wrote long enough, do you have a suggestion for me to figure this out? Also why do you think this weird clock speed issue happens?

Just like the Galaxy S4 to the S3, there is an inevitable successor to the Galaxy Note 2 on the way. If rumors are anything to go by, the new Galaxy Note 3 might pack in even better internals than the Galaxy S4. Touted for a September launch in IFA 2013 at Berlin, the Galaxy Note 3 has been leaked quite a few times, and we have at least some idea about how the phone will look and what it will come with under the hood. So here’s all we know about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3! Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Leaked Specs and Features Recently it was announced that Korea would be getting a new version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 with support for LTE-Advanced, a faster standard of 4G LTE. The interesting part is that it will now include a newer chipset, the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. Since previous leaks pointed to a Snapdragon 800 on the Galaxy Note 3 as well, we’re pretty sure that this is the same chipset that will be used in it. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumored specs and features . Unfortunately though, most leaked pictures seem to suggest that the phone’s design won’t be too different from its predecessors and it will follow the Galaxy S4′s design language. It’s not a bad thing per se, but considering Samsung has an almost uncountable number of phones out in the market with similar looks, some people might be disappointed. However, according to some reports, a complete hardware and software refresh will be implemented by the time the Galaxy S5 launches. Let’s hope that’s true, because the current design language is getting a bit stale. Like the Galaxy S4, there might be two variants of the same phone, with at least one packing in the Snapdragon 800. Here’s the rumored specsheet: SoC: Samsung Exynos Octa 5410 (or) Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 CPU: 1.6 GHz quad core ARM Cortex-A15 and 1.2 GHz quad core ARM Cortex-A7 (or) 2.3 GHz quad core Krait 400 GPU: PowerVR SGX 544MP (or) Adreno 330 RAM: 3 GB RAM Storage: 16/32/64 GB, expandable via MicroSD to 64 GB Screen: 5.99 inches Super AMOLED HD, 1920 x 1080 (367 ppi) Camera: 13 MP rear facing (1080P video recording), 2 MP front facing camera (1080P video recording) Connectivity: Bluetooth v4.0, NFC, Wi-fi, MicroUSB 2.0 slot, 3G, 4G LTE Battery: TBA OS: Android Jelly Bean 4.3 (Rumored) Like the previous phones in the Note series, the Note 3 will also feature a stylus which expands functionality, but this time we’re betting on much more innovative features considering all that horsepower. Its what makes the Note series unique and sets them apart from other large screened smartphones. There’s no doubt that Samsung is aiming to have the biggest and smartphone out in the market, but this time it’s got competition. Sony’s rumored Togari phablet will supposedly come with similar internals and a screen size of 6.44 inches. HTC isn’t far behind either, and a rumored phablet called the T6 or One Max will be a big contender considering it will come with super powerful internals as well adapt the gorgeous HTC One design. So if you’re considering to buy a smartphone by the end of the year, there will be no dearth of choices. Do let us know what you think of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumored specs and if you’d consider buying this monster when it’s out

Ok so I'm just looking for an android phone and I thought about the Note 3. But then, I rembered that the new android version is coming out later so I don't want to give money for a.... not so cheap phone..... and it's software to get old in 2-3 months. So does anyone know if the Note 3 will support android 4.4? Thanks P.S. If this post is on the wrong category I'm sorry I don't understand the categories yet, but I'll figure it out.

So tomorrow im getting another phone. currently i have the nexus 5 and im going to miss it so but it does not offer enough memory for my music. now from research i came down to these two. I very very rarely play games i just use my phone for music, watching videos, hotspot, scrolling through the forums, shopping, and lastly i need a phone with wifi calling since my apartment is like a fallout.
