When I turn off my pc (shut down) to go sleep, I can hear clicking noises from my pc, it is the same sound I hear when I turn on my pc. It seems to stop after a while because when I wake up it has stopped, I would say it stops within an hour.

I've got my new PC and wanted to bench it and see how it performs since I'm not very knowledgeable about these things, I've decided to post here for some help. CPU when under load does some weird electrical/static noises GPU when under load does some noises too, but I would say they are just much much worse than the CPU here is an audio file of what I tried to record with my phone (GPU) 20230427_204651.m4a Here is a screenshot of doing cine bench: Here is the full build: Intel Core i5-13600KF MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI - Intel Z790 Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact Black TG Light Tint ASUS GeForce TUF-RTX3060-O12G-V2-GAMING, LHR, 12GB GDDR6 Kingston Fury Beast Black 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6000 CL40 Samsung SSD 980 PRO, M.2 - 2TB GIGABYTE UD1000GM - 1000W Noctua NH-U12A

I have (2) 4TB Western Digital Gold HDDs in RAID 1 (mirrored) and (2) 8TB HGST HDDs in RAID 1 (Mirrored) as well. I use both arrays for DATA only. I have a Samsung 860 EVO SSD (1TB) as my primary drive with Win 10 x64 pro. I have another Samsung 860 EVO SSD (2TB) as a DATA drive that I use for Virtualbox VMs (Virtual Machines). Periodically I am getting some really weird successive clicking sounds that do not give me a good feeling. Hoping someone here can ID the sounds and let me know if I should be worried or not. The sound occurs like 6 times in succession. It happens usually only once during a power up cycle ... as far as I can tell. I wear my headphones a lot, so Im not always paying attention. I have added LINKS to the SOUND and MY HDD Benchmarks. NOTE(s): - The RAID setup is using Windows built-in software RAID setup - The benchmarks were taken on each HDD separately before they were put in a RAID configuration - I bought the 2nd HGST HDD a year later that the first. I've noticed that it runs 3 deg C hotter and the throughput is about 20% slower - The HDDs are about (1) year old except for the new HGST drive. - The MOBO has SATA 2 which is supposed to have 3Gbs (300MB/s) maximum speeds. How is that the 2TB Samsung 860 EVO is getting 500MB/s + speeds? Let me know what you think I should do to make sure things are working correctly. If there is a questionable drive, how do I go about isolating it? What software do you recommend for testing? I use CrystalDiskMark and HDTune. Are these sounds routine for drives in a RAID 1 configuration? As always, Thanks in Advance. I didn't quite know where to post this because its more of a general thing but decided to put it here because its fans making the noise. Recently I have noticed periods of time where my computer makes a whirring sound as if ramping up then a click, back to quiet then repeats itself and was wondering if this is a problem or something I can fix with fan curves. Its not a huge issue but can be a bit annoying if I'm not wearing headphones. I have attached a file of the noise its making but it is quiet and has a bit of static/background noise, so turning volume on full is recommended. Other information: I took the side panel of and I don't think its the cpu fan, the cpu chipset fan (I have an x570 board), or the system fans. it sounds like it could be the power supply or possibly the gpu. Thanks for the help in advance! Recording.m4a

Ever since I put a new PSU in my system yesterday, it has been making tapping noises. I know it is not the HDD, what could it be?

I have a Monster Superstar that is creating some very odd clicking and popping noises. I was using it as normal when it ran out of battery, and when I plugged it in and powered it on it began making these awful noises. I don't believe it's the result of any sort of interference between my phone and the speaker because the noises persist even when the speaker is disconnected. I can somewhat drown them out when I play music at full volume but they always linger in the background ruining the experience. The noises don't appear to be totally random, they persist at about 3 clicks per second. See linked video.

I posting this in the GPU section because I’m pretty sure this issue is with the GPU. Yesterday, I overclocked my graphics card (In signature) again after accidentally removing the old overclock. Everything went fine, until I got some errors and issues, so I backed off a bit. I then went to test the overclock. I loaded up FurMark, and it ran fine. I then pressed space to remove the fur ring and my GPU started to make a screaming noise. When I pressed space again to put the fur ring back, it stopped. I removed the overclock, restarted, and when I loaded up FurMark again, the same thing occurred. During this time, the PC seemed way slower than usual. I think the screaming noise has to do with high framerates, because when the Fur ring was removed the FPS would jump to 1400ish. But then again, this has never happened before. Any ideas?

So my power supply starts amking weird noises when i run a graphically demanding programs. So I´m guessing that when the GPU ramps up it´s wattage, that´s also when the PSU starts sounding weird. Should i look for a new PSU? Is this a sign that the PSU is about to give up and could that be dangerous for the rest of my system? The PSU is an Corsair CX750M Thanks in advance!

Hello, today my Eisbaer LT started to make weird noises. First of all I thought it would just be the water starting to flow, but even after hours the noise was still there. I started shaking the case a bit, turning my pc off and on again in the hope that the air, that is probably in the loop, would go away but the noise was still there. Now I laid down my PC on the side and it started to get really weird. I immediately turned my PC off and I messaged the Alphacool support (waiting for their answer). Maybe someone who had similar issues with a water cooler could tell me what it might be and what I can do to fix the issue? I attached a video where you can hear both noises. First more like a "rattle" noise and laid down it sounds like the thing is wrecked. Sorry for the english and thank you for the help in advance ^^ Eisbaer Noises.mp4

Z370 Aorus Gaming 5 Intel i7-8700k Corsair RAM 2x8 GB AMD R9 390 Sapphire Corsair RM750 Gold PSU Old build I bought almost a year ago and replaced the mobo, cpu, and ram on a few weeks ago. The noise doesn’t cease. Sounds almost like a crackle sometimes (hard to tell from video) but at first just sounded like a loose fan. I have tried unplugging the fans but none of them seem to be the issue. There’s also a low buzzing sound which goes away whenever I press on anything on the mobo. Hi there, I'm not sure if I'm just browsing through too many random horror stories, but it's definitelly wierd. I'll try to make the explanation quick. My colleague bought Asus ROG gl503vd laptop few moths back and I really liked it. I knew they were going to update that cool chassis with 8th gen Core i7-8750H processor, so I waited a bit. Last month I bought that baby and I really love the laptop. ...except, since pretty much day one, there is this scratchy high pitched noise comming out of it. It's not the harddrive, it's not the fan, it's comming most likely from CPU's PCB on the mother board. Whelp, I packed it, sent it to a local ASUS service center and it stayed there for three weeks. It came back with replaced motherboard (which also means a new processor in laptop terms) and the noise is still there. They wrote in the report that the noise was eliminated a little, but it's supposed to be a natural behaviour of the laptop and it's within tolerances as it's not louder than 10db. (I'd really love to know where they got that number.) Well I did my digging anyways and found out I'm definitely not alone in this. What's more interesting, people report exactly the same problems not only on other ASUS laoptops, but also on Dells, HPs, MSIs and even MacBooks. ...and there is often (not always, but very often) a one common detail. 8th gen Intel CPU. This is how my gl503ge sound: https://youtu.be/Ho_0b9IxuaM (before repair) There are few others: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIVJHgDCUSw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VbElCtHvOI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89INEtXhd7s (little lost in mic noise on this one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEO3cn406Ig (this gui amplified it nicely, this choppy one is exactly what I have after the repair) And here are various topic across various manufacturers dealing with the same coil whine-ish issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ssrep9dqdmU https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/8ptfu8/would_you_accept_this_level_of_coil_whine_dell/ https://www.dell.com/community/Linux-Developer-Systems/New-Kaby-Lake-XPS-13-coil-whine/td-p/5088148/page/30 https://www.reddit.com/r/apple/comments/8zyuyx/is_anyone_noticing_coil_whine_noise_in_their_new/ https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-Spectre-x360-8th-Gen-i7-Noise/td-p/6394376 https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/2018-mbp-15-coil-whine.2128494/page-2 (This guy exchanged 5 macbooks...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGswmkw-yJA (Also I've joined this post of various gl503ge ang gl703ge users with the same issue: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?103230-Asus-ROG-Strix-GL503GE-SCAR-wrong-ram-slot-scratchy-noise-cpu-always-on-max-clock) It's something that has to do with C1E power states as turning C1E off makes it mostly go away. (but also renders i7s power effciency useless) ...and when idling you can hear it mostly when CPU gets small bursts of work. Also unplugging the laptop from the wall makes it go away in lot of cases including mine. Is it possible that Intel screwed something up in Coffee Lakes and they make various PCB boards scream? Please help, because we often invested in over 1,2k USD laptops and we can't even sell them brand new, because they emit sounds like that. ...and manufacturers see it as a normal thing, so RMAs do not work either. Cheers, if you reed this, love ya, Linus, Martin.

I have a pair of Logitech Z313 2.1 50W speakers and sometimes they make crackling noises and sometimes buzzing, when turning the sound up or down and sometimes when I turn them on or off, as they have a power button, but when nothing is played on them. I've had them for a year and they didn't have any problem since like 1 month ago. Could this be a cable issue, as they are really tight tied with other cables from my PC?

Hello Everyone and thank you for joining me on this, So I have recently built my 2018 set-up (Last week), It features an I7 8700k, a 1080 ITX, 32 Gb of RAM, 240 SSD M.2 and the important thing: 4TB WD caviar Blue 2.5" accelerated with an optane module (16GB). Everithing looks perfect on paper, synthetic benchmarks are no problem, got over 900 mb/s read, 200 mb/s write on my WD blue and windows works just fine. But when I do play games, installed or not on the HDD, my hard drive (I'm not sure if it is my hard drive really) starts making the sound in the video attached and the game stops working... I don't know what to do, I have checked even the power draw of my computer... Hope you can help me guys, thank you in advance!

Hi my name is Tomas, A couple of years ago I started hearing a weird noise. It was not constantly but it was very often. It was like someone talking, but the talking was so vague that I could'nt understand it. I was understanding one word. very vague tho so I could've misheard that, it was my name. It is very loud and interrupting. I don't know what it is. It sounds like my headphones are interfering with some sort of frequency for intercoms. It stopped. I think I had a Sennheiser HD201. Today it started with again. first with the HD201 at my little brothers pc. Didn't hear it with earbuds tho. (his headset broke so he needed a replacement). Now like 5 hours later. I hear it at my pc. I have a Sony MDR-XB950BT. Sometimes it is just like screaming. in a com like in the ones in police cars of coaches. such quality but worse (understandable) Maybe im in a frequency of an airplane, coach or the police. but the HD201 doesn't have bluetooth. so how. Maybe my cable is broken and i hear something from that (unlikely) Can someone help me stop it or atleast say what it is, because I have absolutely no idea.

It seems I'm having an issue with my HDD, where when it starts up from being powered off for a while (Few hours) that the issue will repeat. When I start up the computer the HDD makes loud noises, like a loud whine, and it seems like the drive is struggling to start up. It will sometimes sounds like the drive is just about to get to full speed but it will then dip again and make a lower whining noise. It will eventually get up to a constant, normal sounding noise for the rest of the use of the computer... Should I be worried about this? Is my drive failing? If I need to replace my drive, would this SSD be worth it? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/kingston-internal-hard-drive-sv300s37a120g If not then I would just buy a new HDD, or use one from my old computer.

I bought this PSU, the Corsair CX600, back in November and it's started to make strange clicking noises, which speeds up depending on load, so I'm assuming it's the fan. Shining a light into the PSU also looks like the fan is speeding up, clicks, then slows down and repeats. This is the first time I've actually had issues with any PC component to I have no idea what to do. Any advice? PS. sad thing is, I moved all my parts into a new case from a Hadron Air because the PSU was too noisy for my taste. Now I've removed the CX600 and temporarily replaced it with the Hadrons PSU... so I'm back to it being rediculously noisy.

I finished building my first computer a few days ago and everything went awesome but a few days after i turned on the computer and a really loud noise (this is a video of it http://youtu.be/RPEkp1B1cWU) sounded like it was coming from the powersupply. But then after leaving the computer off for a bit it will sound normal after turning it on. Does anyone know what the sound is and how to fix it??

Hello, I was hoping someone here could help identify/fix my problem. I've recently made upgrades to my computer and decided to silence my fans using the Asus fan xpert which worked magnificently. However since my fans are now practically silent im hearing an unusual static noise coming from my psu. Its a light static buzzing that seems to occur every time i type/ move mouse/etc. Pretty much doing anything on my computer besides it just sitting around. I have tested everything and the noise is definitely from my psu. I could not find much online about this occurrence besides it possibly being from a capacitor vibrating? Not quite sure what to do besides opening it up and messing with it so before i do that i thought asking the community first would be best. Any help or ideas is much appreciated. The psu is a corsair gs600 and my motherboard if it matters is a Asus f2a85v-pro. Thanks!

Hello, I'm not really sure if this is the correct place to post this (so mods please feel free to move this to the appropriate section if needed), but I'm having a weird issue. While I'm playing or just browsing on my PC, I will hear the tone for when a USB device is disconnected immediately followed by the tone for when a USB device is connected. I usually notice it when I'm in game (so full screen and unable to see a notification in the taskbar). What is the best way for me to go about find the cause to this problem? Its not a real major issue but is something that gets noticed and annoying at times. Thanks for any insight LTT! ~NiftyMist

Heya, Please help me. First issue I have with my pc is that it keeps making a beeping sound as if something is being plugged out and in continuously whenever the pc is on. Attached is the usb log view, hopefully someone can solve this. All drivers are up to date including system updates. I've also unplugged everything and the sound still occurs. Second issue is that my pc keeps "crashing". By crashing, I mean that whatever is on the screen does not move (films will stop moving, the time on the bottom right corner won't change even if minutes go past etc) so essentially the pc is frozen. If the monitor does not freeze like this then the monitor will go pitch black instead however the power to the monitor is on, so the monitor is on but with nothing being displayed. When either of these happen, my keyboard and mouse will stop lighting up as they have rgb lights, the internal fan will stay lighted up however they do not change colours as they are set on a changing pattern. The pc cannot be turned off via force shut down - holding the power button down and also cannot be restarted using the restart button that my case provides. The only way to restart the pc when these happen is to plug out the cable, wait for a few seconds until a strange noise is made then plug it back in. If I plug it in before the noise is made then the computer just wouldn't turn on. I've left it to "crash" with pc monitoring on for example task manager or other softwares that displays the computer's temperatures, all the temperatures are low, so the computer is not overheating. I've included event viewer logs if you can diagnose and fix any issues, these are logs when the pc is left on however, I've also included logs after the pc has "crashed" and I've turned it back on with the method above. Please can anyone help, it would be very much appreciated as I cannot find anything at all on google that can help with this. If LinusTechTips is able to make a video diagnosing and fixing this, it would be absolutely fantastic as there's no online sources that has been able to help with these issues so far and I may not be the only one experiencing them. All help is appreciated, many thanks guys.
