  1. Recent got given a node 202, and i have always liked the case. And i was curious if anyone knows of a cable that splits from the motherboard 3.1 gen 1 connector (think its called type e?) To a usb 3.0 and a type c connector?
  2. Hi there. So I'm currently experiencing some issues with Google Drive and NPM. I am using the new Google Drive on Windows (if I remember correctly, used to be called Google Filestream). The issue basically involves the fact that when I do npm install in a Node.JS directory, it tells me that the <PROJECT DIRECTORY>/node_modules folder doesn't exist. Using the same project files and package.json in my local Downloads folder worked absolutely fine and installed everything like it was supposed to. The full error is as below: npm ERR! code ENOTDIR npm ERR! syscall mkdir npm ERR! path G:\My Drive\Coding\1. Node\1. Discord.JS\SleepBot\node_modules npm ERR! errno -4052 npm ERR! ENOTDIR: not a directory, mkdir 'G:\My Drive\Coding\1. Node\1. Discord.JS\SleepBot\node_modules' npm ERR! A complete log of this run can be found in: npm ERR! C:\Users\stent\AppData\Local\npm-cache\_logs\2022-03-13T17_06_01_171Z-debug.log The log file mentioned above has been attached to this post. And my package.json: { "name": "sleepbot", "version": "1.0.0", "description": "A custom bot to fix the brat's sleep schedule", "main": "app.js", "scripts": { "test": "echo \"Error: no test specified\" && exit 1" }, "keywords": [ "sleepbot" ], "author": "Stentorian", "license": "ISC", "dependencies": { "ascii-table": "^0.0.9", "chalk": "^4.1.2", "cron": "^1.8.2", "discord.js": "^13.6.0", "fs": "^0.0.1-security", "moment": "^2.29.1", "ms": "^2.1.3" } } If anyone could help, that'd be great! 2022-03-13T17_06_01_171Z-debug.log
  3. Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Linux Computer Node? Other details: I don't know what the customer wants these for, but I'm building them! As ever my job has steered me into building something amazing. Something not quite Epic, but truly Ripping... That's so bad I'm sorry. We have a customer that has in the past asked for some really beefy rigs as detailed on the forums last June. Mid March of this year they came back asking for more. Not more of the same, but simply More. By that I mean they want systems with more Cores/Threads, RAM, Storage and all of it in a 2/3U Rack mount... Now I told them point blank that I can't go past 128GB's of RAM on anything short of HEDT and they said Yes. After a few quotes we came down to the following specs. CPU: R9-3970X (32c/64t) Cooler: Dynamix A26 (Small and fits.) RAM: 8x32GB Crucial Ballistix 3,200Mhz CL16 (They wanted 512GB but didn't want to pay for ThreadRipper Pro) Mobo: ASRock TRX40 Creator (Does what they want +10Gb NIC for inter node connection) Storage- SSD: 1TB Samsung 970 EVO (Because they don't need a 980PRO) HDDs: 3 x 8TB Seagate Ironwolfs in RAID 5 (More Storage, More Better) GPU: GT710 (No GPU Compute in these rigs.) PSU: BeQuiet PurePower 11 500w (Enough power, 80+ Gold and Modular) Case: iStar D-Storm 300-PFS (3U, Full ATX, Rack mount) + Extra Noctua fan for airflow. The only thing I'm woried about is the small CPU Cooler, but it's rated for the job given enough airflow. Here is the Parts Picture less the case, I'll upload the build when It's all done.
  4. How and why I made Syntatical (an NPM package that changes how you write JavaScript) Basics of Syntatical: Goal: The initial goal was to make an NPM package that changed how JavaScript is written. Not to make it "easier" or "weirder", just a different way to write it. How it works: Syntactical basically just puts JavaScript code into functions. Making multi-line functions one-line. It also makes console.log shorter, I did this because I hate using console.log() to log everything. To show it better I will use a snippit from the index file "arr_buff":function(num){ if(isNaN(num) == false){ var b = new ArrayBuffer(num); console.log(b.byteLength); } else if(Array.isArray(num)){ var x = num.length; console.log(x) } else { console.log("input invalid") } }, This basically takes if(isNaN(num) == false){ var b = new ArrayBuffer(num); console.log(b.byteLength); } else if(Array.isArray(num)){ var x = num.length; console.log(x) } else { console.log("input invalid") } and shrinks it down to s.arr_buff(633) // ------ OR ------ // You can use: s.arr_buff(["a", "b", "c", "d", "e", "f", "g", "h", "i", "j", "k", "l", "m", "n", "o", "p", "q", "r", "s", "t", "u", "v", "w", "x", "y", "z"]) The one on top will print out: 633 The one bellow will print out: 26 s.arr_buff("a string, not an array") This one will print our "input invalid" Why Node.js and NPM? JavaScript's syntax is fine, but I thought I could make it simple. I would have done it in Python if I felt like Python needed this, which I feel it really does not. JavaScript's syntax is easy, but I wanted to make it easier. How to install and use: Install script and view the Syntatical NPM repo What does the future hold for Syntatical? A lot actually. I am going to gather a few friends to continue development on the main Syntatical package. Plans for syntatical-electron, syntatical-discord, syntatical-express and syntatical-passport do exist and are being considered. Having a Syntatical.py module is also in thought, same with a Syntatical.lua package. However these are plans in consideration, not yet confirmed!
  5. so I'm trying to create an error event handler in javascript. I'm purposely adding the website wrong so that I get a specific error message but thats not what I'm getting. When I run my code I get the following: undefined:1 SyntaxError: Unexpected end of JSON input at JSON.parse (<anonymous>) at IncomingMessage.<anonymous> (/Users/elmaschingon/Desktop/app.js:24:30) at IncomingMessage.emit (events.js:327:22) at endReadableNT (_stream_readable.js:1201:12) at processTicksAndRejections (internal/process/task_queues.js:84:21) Here is my code below // Problem: We need a simple way to look at a user's badge count and JavaScript points // Solution: Use Node.js to connect to Treehouse's API to get profile information to print out const https = require('https'); // Function: to pring message to console function printMessage (username, badgeCount, points) { const message = `${username} has ${badgeCount} total badge(s) and ${points} points in Javascript.` console.log(message); } function getProfile(username) { // Connect to the API url const request = https.get(`https://wwwteamtreehouse.com/${username}.json`, response => { let body = ""; // Read the data response.on('data', data => { body += data.toString(); }); // Parse the data response.on('end', () => { const profile = JSON.parse(body); printMessage(username, profile.badges.length, profile.points.JavaScript ); }); }); request.on('error', error => console.error(`Problem with request: ${error.message}`)); } const users = process.argv.slice(2) users.forEach(getProfile); The really weird thing is that when I make the site "https://wwwwteamtreehouse.com" (adding an additional w and still missing the '.') I get the right error code that I'm looking for which is: Problem with request: getaddrinfo ENOTFOUND wwwwteamtreehouse.com Any help would be GREATLY appreciated guys
  6. Hey guys so I'm just learning to code in Javascript and APIs and how it all works. I want to practice but idk where to start? Does anyone have any recommendations or can point me towards a free API that would be "fun" to work with as my first project?
  7. Hi guys, I’m a huge fan of the Linus Tech tips and i would really need the help of the wonderful community. Currently a computer engineer at Edinburgh i am currently working on a javascript project and i made a quick survey to understand some needs of web developers. Please fill up this survey (takes 2 minutes) : https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScs9DWk2qmytXCROCwri5wVf4Dp9l9KZmxOQM5ol4Y0nzyCPg/viewform#responses Thanks
  8. Looking to buy the node 804 from fractal design. The radiator compatibility looks awesome. I wonder if any of you people have any custom loops already built? If so any words of advice for a water cooling noob?
  9. So I've pretty much decided to build in the node 804 (I like cubes), and by pretty much I mean I'm just waiting for it to be delivered. I do have a few loose ends to deal with; I'm definitely going with an AIO watercooler and I like the look of NZXT's Kraken x52 BUT I've only just realised that if you take out both drive cages on the right side of the case (which I probably won't populate anyway), you can fit a 280mm AKA the Kraken x62. The only problem with this is that the pump would have to reach around into the main compartment to mount of the CPU, meaning it would have to fit through the cable management hole at the front of the case. So, long story short, could anyone with experience of either (hopefully both) of these items - the Kraken and the node - help me out? Will the Kraken pump 1) fit through the hole into the main compartment? And 2) reach the CPU and be mountable WITHOUT stretching the tubes? Cheers for any/all answers
  10. Hey everyone; i've just started delving into server setup and NAS setup. I've recently built a low power server pc for testing deployed applications with elixir, phoenix, node etc. In addition I would like it to have a NAS capability. Can anyone point me towards a direction re-software? I'm leaning towards Linux due to incompatibility of windows and phoenix deployments and my business partner also uses Linux. Would i need additional software on-top of Linux to deal with the NAS part? Specs of server are: Intel G4560 16Gb DDR4 2133 Ram 120gb nvme boot drive 3TB WD Red NAS drive Thank you =)
  11. https://vimeo.com/214786788 AKiTiO who has been a proud sponsor of my film "The Southwest", recently released their Thunderbolt 3 eGPU enclosure. With the National Association of Broadcasters trade show quickly approaching we thought it would be cool to do a flashy trade show version of the NODE. Just putting a window on the side and some RGB lights would have been easy and throwing in an all in one cooler wouldn't have been much of a show stopper, so I decided to see how extreme we could go while at the same time utilizing the existing case. That meant filling the case to the brim with custom water cooling components, a full windows 10 computer, and system monitoring sensors. Inside is a MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X card that is cooled by EKWB components. The whole system is controlled by a Corsair Commander Mini running on a Latte Panda motherboard which is a full windows 10 computer thats just about the size of a deck of cards. This is all interfaced on the 7" IPS touch screen display. The software not only controls the EK PWM water pump, but the radiator fan, LED lights, water temperature sensor, air intake temperature sensor, and air exhaust temperature sensor. It allows the user to monitor the loop and adjust settings for different types of working conditions. So you can have it running very quietly when your not rendering or gaming and then adjust it depending on the load. One side of the NODE was replaced with a custom cut matte black acrylic face that has an inlay clear window to see the water block and an opening for the touch screen. On the opposite side is a small clear window to see water flowing thru the reservoir. The EK Coolstream SE 120mm radiator and EK Vardar fan pull clean air from the rear of the case and out the front. There is two temperature sensors to monitor the in and outflow air temperature and a coolant sensor in the loop just after the water block. An EK T valve was added to aide in draining the loop, so that everything wouldn't have to be removed to flush the system. The NODE comes with a non-modular PSU that has no additional inputs for powering the loop so a Silverstone 700w PSU was added. It was hot wired so it would run without a motherboard signal and I made custom wiring to fit in this tiny case. A leftover DEMCifilter from my NCASE M1 Mini itx build was added to the side of the PSU. 12. Since my main rig is too heavy to lug around at LAN parties, I wanted to build a "tiny" PC that could use some used parts I had lying around. Full configuration: - Intel i7-4790; - DeepCool Gabriel with Silverstone FW121; - Gigabyte Z97N-WIFI; - Corsair Dominator 2x8GB 1866MHz; - Palit Geforce GTX 780 with Arctic Accelero Xtreme III; - SSD Qumox 128GB; - SSHD Seagate 1TB; - Fractal Design Node 202 bundled with Integra SFX 450W; - Noctua Industrial 2000rpm PWM. I already had the CPU and the GPU laying unused in my room, so I bought a 30€ MB with a damaged socket and the rest of the parts were bought used except for the case. Here's the final product: Success! It fits in a bag. The full build gallery can be seen here Maybe tomorrow if I have time I'll copy the full 36 image build gallery here since it takes ages hahah.
  13. Hello, I was wondering if anyone was up for sharing there cjdns nodes or location fo cjdns public nodes.
  14. Hi there everyone! TLDR: I would love (if need be to start) a new RGB Discussion Topic. I am new here but have followed LTT for a while. So short story long (sorry but my handle is an IRL nickname, I didn't get it by chance) I own a small PC repair and service store in Copenhagen Denmark. Since taking it over from my much older cousin who retired I have been following LMG on youtube to get myself back to snuff in terms of current knowledge. I have played around with PCs since I was a spoiled 10-year-old so I know "a few things" and can fix most common problems but I by no means know it all. My Wife and I run the store together and we are both gamers (but have no time, yay small business) and we are discussing making some upgrades to our own systems if just to showcase what we can do. However I have hit a snag and discovered I have made some incorrect assumptions based on how easy it is to light up a PC with RGB. Now we have a case, a mobo in mind, some rgb fans and we want to get it all sync'd up. But finding easily accessible information on how RGB "works" together seems to be difficult. SO! I am hoping we could add a topic to this forum where we can try to gather and pool an extensive amount of knowledge of the basic and fundemental workings of RGB hardware and software. Basically I think knowledge should be open source and not just be in the hands of those who have tried. Is that something that you, we, they can get behind? I am trying to ask politely cause I can't find any hits for "RGB Discussion" and whlie there are posts about RGB they all seem to be very specific.
  15. The problem is pretty much as the title says, have to grant internet access to a node (already gave it an ip with my server dhcp) with the use of ip_tables which as far as I know it could be tricky to use, and I do not want to fuck this up, help please :C
  16. So, I'm wanting to make a Node 804 build. And in his review Linus talks about a slim line optical drive. Anyone know were to get one? I have looked it up and can't find one that looks like it would ft the case.
  17. Hey! I'm trying to make an interactive bot that talks via Twitter through Node.js V.8.0.0. It's 2019 and I don't think the servers for 16.04. (It was the only download I could find for a strictly 32-bit system (Yes... It's an old server. I don't need a new one I don't think.) Could someone please tell me what the old source list for it? I use Ubuntu 16.04 Server edition, w/o any updates. It doesn't have a graphical interface installed since it's a server, and I don't need any security updates since the server won't hold anything important (This is more of a project than anything.)
  18. I got tired of all the half-assed attempts people have made to cherry-pick the Bungie.net API to create a "Destiny 2 API library" for node.js. I just built the entire damn thing, from scratch. It's 0 dependency, fully async, and lightening fast. I could use some help testing it before I push V1.0.0 to NPM though. Github Documentation
  19. Hey guys! I have run into at problem where I have two different arrays: // Sample data from function getTimeIntervals() [ RowDataPacket { issue_id: 117648, seconds_elapsed_issue: '318' }, RowDataPacket { issue_id: 118090, seconds_elapsed_issue: '8940' }, RowDataPacket { issue_id: 118092, seconds_elapsed_issue: '5357' }, RowDataPacket { issue_id: 118199, seconds_elapsed_issue: '41604' }, RowDataPacket { issue_id: 118351, seconds_elapsed_issue: '3778' }, RowDataPacket { issue_id: 118395, seconds_elapsed_issue: '2974' }, RowDataPacket { issue_id: 119014, seconds_elapsed_issue: '37680' }, RowDataPacket { issue_id: 119729, seconds_elapsed_issue: '15006' }, RowDataPacket { issue_id: 119735, seconds_elapsed_issue: '26389' }, RowDataPacket { issue_id: 119742, seconds_elapsed_issue: '67' }, ... ] // Sample data from function getIssueData() [ RowDataPacket { project_id: 1445, issue_id: 121007 }, RowDataPacket { project_id: 1445, issue_id: 120921 }, RowDataPacket { project_id: 1445, issue_id: 121011 }, RowDataPacket { project_id: 1420, issue_id: 120454 }, RowDataPacket { project_id: 1420, issue_id: 121004 }, RowDataPacket { project_id: 1445, issue_id: 120868 }, RowDataPacket { project_id: 1467, issue_id: 121010 }, RowDataPacket { project_id: 1445, issue_id: 120870 }, RowDataPacket { project_id: 1420, issue_id: 121009 }, RowDataPacket { project_id: 1445, issue_id: 120018 }, ... ] Now... What I want to do is avoid using a nested for loop for this because using nested for loops is in my opinion the slowest possible way to solve this task (O(n^2) time if I'm not mistaken): I want to add up all elapsed seconds from an issue under the 'project_id' value from the second array. This means producing a result that looks something like this: [ {project_id: 1445, seconds_elapsed: '270129'}, {project_id: 1467, seconds_elapsed: '16012'}, ... ] Does anyone have a solution to this particular problem? Because those I have found out there on the internet, I either do not understand or does not apply to my use case. -- Thanks!
  20. Hey, i am building a site at work using node js, i need it to run a cmd commands (figured out how to do it with shell_process), but the thing is, that i need to run this as a function that parse the data and process it a bit, then retrun it to be compared, displayed and stroed in a db. I also need to run it multiple times, so i figured that putting the function in an external js file, but i cant for the life of me, get the output from the function into the main function, not even to a console.log. Is there any way to use the stdout of the shell_process in the main app? I can really use the help, it is holding me back so badly... Thanks
  21. Hello Guys so i recently wanted to start a project of my own to solve a problem, you see im living with my 2 siblings at the moment, and i hold a large collection of movies (arround 8TB ) that are Stored on my Personal rig and several external hard drives, the problem is that its a hassle to disconect and wait for files to transfer i wanted to create a webapi and a client that could function as an explorer (just like windows explorer) to browse the directory of the hard drives and strema the data to the computer using the browser while the files remain on the main computer i havent been able to found anything like that aside from webstorage and streaming, i only want it to be locally 0 internet im familiar with Javascript and some lable languages for web development, but im at a loss with APIs like NODE.JS and such, any starters?
  22. hey everyone about a year ago i bought a ful nzxt rgb setup (strips and aer fans) but recently ive grown so sick of the cam software and lack of support from nzxt i switched my fans out for the corsair LL series (they also look way better). id like to switch my led strips out too but i really like how the nzxt ones look compared to the corsair ones since theyre white and diffuse the light way better. has anyone tried plugging in nzxt strips to a corsair controller to be able to control everything in one program? i know the plugs are different but being a mechanic i can make them work. id just like to know if anyone has tried it and had any success before me
  23. Hello, I was partway through syncing the Mist ethereum wallet with the blockchain, and it stopped working. I then proceeded to close it and open again, but it shows this every time.
  24. Ever since I built a new gaming computer, I have been encouraging my friend, who I play games with a lot, to build himself a new gaming PC. He doesn't know much about that kind of stuff though, so I am planning it out for him and am going to help him build it. His only requirements were that he wants to keep it under $750, he wants a nvidia card to stream to his shield and he wants it to be very small. This is what I planned out: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/penguin2424/saved/9vDtt6 I'm open to any suggestions except for the case because he seemed to really like that case Thanks
  25.
