Hello, I was recently gaming on my computer when all of a sudden my screen went black. Upon reboot, the motherboards lcd indicator stated cpu for 2mins the got stuck on vga. Tried a different gpu got it to post once(not after that did it post) and then tried it in a friend's pc and also didn't post. Any ideas?

I have an intermitent problem with my computer. When it occurs, there is no signs of life: no fans start spining, no lights, no sound, no beeps. The system does not power on. This has happened to me twice already. I rma-ed my power supply and my motherboard. When the issue came to an end, I hadn't done anything. The system simply powered on again, one fine morning, like it used to. Since the last time, the system has worked for about 6 months and did work the day before. I haven't installed software, or moved the computer, or did anything special. Things I've tried: - Clearing the cmos cache - Unplugging every wire connected to the system but the power cord - Unplugging and replugging every power related wire - Changing the 24-pin and 8-pin power cables, changing the power cord - Testing the power supply with the 24-pin test, that shorts two pins : The power supply fan spinned along with the drives. - Removing the ram, the graphics card and disconnecting drives to isolate the mobo, the cpu, and the power supply no beeps, no signs of life - Checking the power button connector and shorting it manually - Jerking the system side to side System specs: - msi z97 g45 motherboard - intel i7-4770k cpu - msi gtx-970 gpu - g-skillz 1x8gb ram - evga 750w psu - corsair case Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit As I said, the issue has occured before and has remedied itself, therefore, I don't see how one of the main components (mobo, cpu and psu) could be faulty. Last time, I couldn't use my computer for more than two months. I am desperate.

Hi, Any help is greatly appreciated! I am an electronics enthusiast but I am not a pro in building PCs. I built a desktop with Ryzen 1700x, 16Gb ram, SSD+HDD, 750WEVGA PSU, x370 killer motherboard, and a used 980 Ti. A week ago, it seems like the 980Ti overheated and burned out. I got instant black screen and It smelled like burnt resistor/PCB but I didn't see any magic smoke so I was not sure if it actually was the 980ti that has failed. The computer does not boot with the graphics card installed. Ryzen 1700x has no integrated graphics but the computer boots without the GPU and I can access it with TeamViewer(basically a remote desktop). Now the problem begins: After installing new 1080 Ti hydro, the boot retries about 8 times, during the entire process I got no fan, no pump, and no post on the 1080Ti. The LED does light up and the computer boots without the installed 1080ti. I can still remote access the computer through Teamviewer. I dont see the 1080ti detected in device manager. Things I have tried and did not help: Clear CMOS Uninstall all nvidea drivers in Win10 Trying 2 PCIE slots Restarting many times, with USB devices unplugged. Things I tried and got interesting effect: Plugging and unplugging the 12v VGA power supply after the computer is booted can often trigger the pump and the fan in the graphics card to turn on. But I dont see GPU detected in device manager. Reverse engineering the 12v VGA input pins of the 1080ti, all 12v rails are internally connected. 2 GND are reserved for detection for if the power cable is connected. All trigger requirements should be met. 12.5v voltage is present whenever the other part of the system is running.(This does not mean the overcurrent protection isn't tripped, though. I dont know and have zero experiance.) WHAT SHOULD I DO ? I can not access BIOS because teamviewer runs after win10 boots. CPU PCIE controller fried? Overcurrent? Old BIOS? Broken GPU? I feel like I'm about to die. Any reply is greatly appreciated including IDK, etc.

Hi first full build, I really appreciate some help I've probably messed up somewhere but finding out where is proving a struggle. A Tom's hardware post to another user said to try the initial test without RAM to see it that elicits Memory error beep codes so I tried that and no beep codes. We have not connected any video card yet, nor any hard drive, we are only testing the components to get into the BIOS (I guess it is called EUFI now) Took it all apart, cleaned up the thermal good, and put CPU and heat sink back in place just to double check everything. Same results. Anyone have any suggestions? I sent a webmessage to ASUS support but I have no idea how long it would take to get a response if ever. I made the mistake of buying this stuff from NewEgg in early January for an end of Feb birthday and I assume that after 30 days they will not want to hear from me, even though the boxes have remained unopened until today

A forum poster with a reputable history on WeiPhone.com claims to have information about an upcoming MacBook/Air refresh. According to this source, the new model will sport a 12-inch design close to the current 11.6-inch model, but will feature significant internal differences. The updated MacBook will reportedly not have a fan, will feature a Retina display, and redesigned trackpad. This new trackpad will ditch the mechanical button that has been in the multi-touch trackpads since they first debuted. Instead, the new Air will use only tap gestures for clicking but may feature some tactile feedback to simulate a click. 9to5Mac previously covered a KGI report stating that a 12-inch Retina MacBook Air was in the works.
