Yuzu seems to be the most popular but has a bit of a learning curve but has trouble running some titles. I read Ryujinx is more user friendly and I've read NSEmu is the more tech savvy one that can play more titles if you tweak it enough. Any advice or things to know when choosing? Also best place for switch roms or is that against rules?

I've been planning to re-paste thermal paste for my V2 switch (2019). It doesn't get seriously hot, but there is definitely an increase in heat fan noise and heat overall. Plus I think it needs little bit of cleaning and servicing! I have serveral years of experience with PC parts and larger consoles, but this is the first time I'm taking apart something small and delicate as the switch. Im planning to do the following to improve the thermal performance of this device, please let me know if I've planned something wrong or anyway I can improve these. Remove the metal CPU shield cover shim (or whatever thats called) and re-apply thermal paste there (Noctua NT-H1, surface will be cleaned with Arctic Clean Kit + 70% alcohol wipes). Put thermal pad on memory modules (options below) 2.a - Put a 0.5mm thermal pad in between the shim and the memory module 2.b - Put only on top of the shim not inside it (but I feel like there is not enough contact between the modules and the shim 2.c - do both above. Then reapply the paste between shim and heat-pipe Then between the pipe and the shield plate I also wanted to know If I can replace the foam pieces on heat-sink with standard duct-tape -----or----- some thermal pads? (Thermal pads on heat-pipe will be a bad idea when it comes to heat dissipation) - I have a feeling they are tightly glued and may tear when removing the heat-sink, just being ready. I need help with steps 2 and 5 mainly here, what should I do?

What are your favorite Switch game mods? Rules: Keep the discussion within reason. Any links to the modifications you list will be reported. Any tutorials you give on Switch homebrewing will be reported. Do not get into heated arguments and do not link to anything Switch home brew related. I'll start. Super Luigi Odyssey. My eyes hurt when I use a normal monitor, so I really hope to be able to play Nintendo Switch on my e-ink monitor. Dasung Paperlike 253: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/paperlike-253-the-first-25-3-inch-e-ink-monitor#/ I had attempted to ask Dasung for help, but their reply to me was: Is there an affordable way to make this work? Thanks!

Hello fellow... "LTTers"? I wanted to use my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller on my Desktop PC, but the issue is that Nintendo Switch Controllers are dInput, instead of xInput. Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers on Windows should still connect automatically, but the issue is that the controller inputs themselves won't work properly other programs most of the time. You need 3rd party programs, such as BetterJoyforCemu, DS4Windows, or ProconXInput, which use ViGEM (or ScpVBus in ProConXInput's case) and HIDGuardian. Alternatively Steam has its own controller drivers, which I tried as well. So with that context, here's the full order of events: 1) I plugged in my Pro Controller through USB, and Windows detected it, and set it up as a game controller 2) I installed BetterJoyForCemu, and its Drivers [ViGEM & HIDGuardian] 3) Success! It worked! 4) Computer kept Blue Screening in a constant loop for unrelated reasons, and I eventually had to reinstall Windows. 5) Windows would not detect when I plugged in my Pro Controller anymore, no notification, no sound, nothing. 6) Nothing showed up in Device Manager either. 7) I spend over a week trying all the 3rd party solutions listed above. 8) I realize that none of this would work for the issue I'm having, since windows needs to detect the device, as a game controller, before any of these 3rd party solutions could do anything. 9) I make sure all of the windows power settings, such as power saving mode is not messing with the USB ports, (In power mode and in device manager) 10) Still nothing, I completely uninstall all of the 3rd party drivers, using this tutorial: https://vigem.org/projects/ViGEm/How-to-Install/ 11) I try to reinstall each solution individually, to try and see if any of them will work in desperation. 11) I download USBTreeViewer and try to figure out wtf was going on. 12) I am now asking for help, as I realize I am in way over my head, but I feel I am getting closer. p.s. both screenshots were taken 2-3 minutes apart, and the controller was plugged in for both.

Numerous articles have popped up all over the place about the rumored "Switch Pro". While the OLED models debut is definitely a disaster for most, does it point to something potentially better? The four main upgrades we received- the OLED screen, the kickstand, the speakers and the dock were lacking the main thing most of wanted; more power. But the one thing that seems to be confirmed is Nintendo's main priority, the gaming experience. Every upgrade the Switch has undergone has benefitted the user experience, increasing battery life (the initial chip uograde in the OG Switch), and now the visual experience with the buily in screen. The Switch may just be too small to pack in 4k gaming power while maintaining battery life. So what options does Nintendo have? External GPUs. What if Nintendo released another dock with an external GPU built in, solely for the purpose of 4k output to the TV? This would allow for lower cost, and it wouldn't impare the current experience with the Switch. While I certainly would like at a FHD display, the 720p screen has a huge advantage for battery life, and is sharp enough for enjoyable gameplay. As an optional accessory, an upgraded dock would allow for mass adoption for those either unwilling or unable to fork out the money for an entire new console. What are your thoughts?

I connected my nintendo switch through an hdmi to vga adapter I bought today and for some reason this effect happens when I use it, any idea why that could happen? My monitor is overclocked to 75Hz, could that maybe be the problem?

Was not sure which was the proper category to put this in, so I am sorry if PC Gaming is incorrect. My family and I have a Minecraft world on the Switch that has gotten to the point of being unplayable because of the size of the world/lack of horsepower on the Switch. It has reached 250mb. I have searched online but I cannot find a way to transfer to PC that will work. Realms can't upload the world, giving an error message saying "We couldn't pack your world file for upload. Maybe your hard drive is full?" when there's nearly 20gb open. I haven't found a way to access the files on the Switch through a PC without methods that would potentially brick the device/ get online account banned, which are not options because the Switch is not mine. I read that there is a size limit to what the Switch can upload, but is there any way to transfer the world?

Even if I've been following Linus since the very beginning this my first post on the news forum so please let me know if I inadvertently infringed any rules. Summary Finally, one of the most requested updates finally hits Nintendo Switch! Bluetooth audio support Quotes My thoughts I've always had a hard time understanding some of the decision that Nintendo make. For example, waiting years before allowing Bluetooth audio on the Switch or not doing a remake of Ocarina of Time *insert facepalm*. But needless to say I'm happy with the update and looking forward to some sneaky late night gaming without worries of making too much noise for the significant other Sources https://mobilesyrup.com/2021/09/14/nintendo-switch-bluetooth-audio-support-update/

I am looking to purchase the DLC for LoZ: BotW, Super Smash Bros - Ultimate and both Pokemon games. I was wondering if they have ever discounted them in the past to wait or if they haven't and I should just pick them up now; any useful info is appreciated, thanks!

I'm doing a repair of a Nintendo Switch, had to change LCD, Touch screen, and battery. Also did repair of a speaker by soldering the wire back with the help of you guys from the forum. So I put the new battery in, and it was fast charging, but I got no screen, the touch screen was working cause I could hear sounds when clicking the screen. Then I removed the battery and tried to reconnect the LCD ribbon, probably didn't place it right. When I had everything in its place, I try to turn on the switch and nothing happens. Tried to see if it was fast charging and nothing. Checked for shorts, nothing. It stays at 0.41A, and I can't turn on the switch like I did before (I don't really know how it turned on last time, because I had no image, it was kind of an accident) Is there something I could do? Bought all this tools and lcd, touch, battery, it was going so well

I was changing the touch screen on my Switch and the red wire for the left speaker got disconnected right at the solder, how can I fix this? I tried googling it but no luck. I just bought a solder iron to fix a xbox controller but didn't try anything yet, just watched some videos on how to do it, the very basics. Would just placing the iron in the right solder circle in the speaker and then connecting the red wire be enough? The cable is very thin, not sure how I'd remove the red cover if I need to.

Reddit Post Horizon Linux is a Linux distro that lets you run Switch applications run natively on Arm64 based computers. (No CPU emulation involved!) So far it can run some homebrew applications and one commercial game (Puyo Puyo Tetris). I find this really interesting. It's like some form of Anti-Emulation. I'm interested to see what big names in the emulation space think of this. Let's just say that for now Macbook owners may be in for a treat some time soon.

Some dude on reddit I made mald? ( Not to blag, it was rly funny if u were there ) Today I want to share with you my current project to show people a way to "De-Cycle" certain electronics and use them as everyday tools, appliances, or in this case, computers / consumer electronics. Much more than just a games console. Today I want to show yall what you can do with a pristine model HAC-001 nintendo switch, or even a ripped apart one you obnoxiously modded and have in the dock. Either way, I have set up my switch to us as a linux machine for a few days while I worked on my pc and network. As a short test, I tried out chrome, file de/compression, photo rendering, emulators, and music conversion, my normal day to day tasks, and I am pleased to say it works. Although, I tested L4T ubuntu 1804. While I had all the settings I could want, even power limit un-restriction, the user experience was.... beta quality. Though if you need the 1804 toolsets... well then whatever. Today I am installing a new HorizonOS setup, linux, which will be what we will mostly be showcasing today, and android 10 at the end to see if we can get the AetherSX emulator to work. I wanna play dothack on the pooper. I can't seem to add a video file right now, but I will later. Basically, I want to show what could be done with a console you don't play anymore, or a broken one you can use in the dock as a pc at college. This is a simple personal project, but later Project_R posts will include reusing old routers, using older hardware as appliances, minimal-damage electronics recycling (climate wise), vehicle modifications, random ventures into modernization, and Q&A posts / Polls. At some point, a bigger part of the project will start. However that is for.... later... Also Linus why the hell is it way cooler over here than at L1. Your discord mods could use a little training, but that's my only complaint xD Anyways. ~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~ What is 'De-Cycling'? ~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~ So I don't want to bring politics into this whatsoever. People get political, I am solely considering scale. As our recycle trade with China closes, we have been mowing to place industry back into America. With this, we will see changes to not only economy and trade, but honestly the pollution of recycling itself. While we are lead to beliewe that the good old Reduce Reuse Recycle is all we gotta do, I say we aren't doing enough. There is an example that I think is easy to give. While metal, glass, and pcb materials can be reused in many forms, ~plastic~ can only go so far. At some point, the plastic becomes fleck, a form of waste, that can't be used for anything, as of yet. This ends up burned, in landfills, or in some random place by accident. Think literal sinking ships. No bueno. In the case of electronics, while there are filtration systems at some facilities, not all of them are outfitted for solder gasses, plastic or oil fumes, or whatever other gaseous noxious bleh you could get. And while you can resell some tech, older tech gets over looked, or slightly damaged tech, maybe a switch with a damaged screen, gets ignored completely. Fact is, people just don't know how to optimize. And in some cases, its even easy, cheap, or free to do. I hope to demonstrate how, and show how to do it yourself so you, too, can be a hacker. But a traditional one :3 ~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~-=-~ This is an intro post, and the posts below are reserved for future additions. Any questions asked I will edit in below as a TLDR of sorts. Thanks

Hi Guys, I purchased a new Nintendo OLED model today. However after purchase and setup I find that the download speed for any game/software from the nintendo e-shop is shockingly slow When I check the network speed from the switch internet settings it shows 10MB/s upload and download but game/software is downloading at 150KB/s Have tried changing DNS and MTU but that doesn’t help either. I am currently using a TPLink MiFi dongle and all my other devices are working absolutely fine. Have tried disconnecting all devices from the wifi but no luck. Tried placing the switch on the dock, placed it beside the dongle but that didn’t help Is the Nintendo estore garbage or the switch itself? Any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance Abhishek

So, I was wondering if it would be perfectly ok to play competitive games on my Nintendo Switch using a native 144HZ IPS Monitor, as I own an Acer XF243Y. Would there be any noticeable artifacts, or screen tearing? I mainly play Splatoon 2, which is one of the more competitively focused games on the Switch, and well as some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

So on March 25th, Nintendo released 8 new tracks for Mariokart 8 Deluxe, and they're all ports from the mobile game, Mariokart tour. It's not the fact that they're all ports that disappoints me. It's the fact that it's so clear that Nintendo put the least amount of effort in when it comes to the first new tracks in a mainline game in seven years (MK8 DLC pack 2 released in april of 2015). And if you compare the new DLC tracks to their tour counterparts, they don't look all that different. A bit uprezzed maybe, but no effort to incorporate anti-grav sections at all. Anyone who has played just the official MK content are like "THIS IS THE BEST EVAR!!!" Most likely because, again, this is the first new MK content in 7 years. Anyone who has delved into CTGP however, has already seen a number of things like alternate routes for different laps, most notably in the Custom Tracks Incendia Castle and Six King Labyrinth. (Go check those out if you can. The MK modding scene is awesome.) And to top it off, dataminers have already found the names of the next wave, again all ports from Tour. How long would you expect it to take to uprez a bunch of mobile tracks? Nintendo says it's going to be 2023 before we see the end of this. And I just don't feel that's justified for the quality they're putting out. P.S. I have access to the dlc via the Switch online family pack, which my mom insisted I use. (If it were up to me, I wouldn't pay a cent for that Shit.) Now it takes nearly two minutes to boot into MK8, because it needs to check the internet to make sure I can play this software. FU, Nintendo.

When I was on my console kick a while back, I actually forgot at the time to ask about a topic which I hadn't given much thought to: audio. But better late than never, right? Now, the consoles that I have are the PS2 Slim, a Wii U, & the original Nintendo Switch. As for the PS2, I know I can get audio out of it by simply using the AV Multi Out to RCA cable if I were to hook up to like an older tube/crt tv. No problem. And if I chose to use it with like a modern flat-screen tv in the future, thankfully I have that RCA to HDMI converter/adapter that I got off of Amazon. But since the Wii U has a different type of AV Multi Out port on it, I was wondering if any cables for it exist if I wanted to get audio out of it? Also, I think if I remember correctly that HDMI can provide audio as well, but not sure if it's dependent on like the version or whatever. [Feel free to correct me IF I'm wrong.] But yeah, I just want to explore all viable options on that. And finally, for the Nintendo Switch, I know it has a headphone jack on it & some pretty okay sounding speakers, but I'm not sure if it actually has Bluetooth or not. Still, since I have to use my monitor as a display for some of my console needs, it's not too big of a deal. My only concern with using the Switch with my monitor is if I could connect my speaker to it if I wanted better sound? For anyone wondering, I recently bought myself the LG UltraGear GP9 after watching the ShortCircuit video on it & seeing other really good reviews for it, I felt like it would be the perfect addition to my setup since I've been needing speakers for SO LONG! Anyway, I'm glad I finally decided to ask by putting this out there getting it off my chest since it didn't occur to me at the time. Like always, if any of you happen to have any questions for me or need more details, please be sure to ask & I will answer back. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, I've read content creators' predictions about the Nintendo Switch replacement, which everyone seems to be on the edge of their seats for, I thought it would be fun to post my own guesses for posterity's sake on what this thing will look like. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong or post your own predictions in the thread. Based on the rumors and leaks, and the current state of technology in early 2023, I think there’s a sane conclusion about what the next generation Nintendo Hardware console like. I’ve followed others' speculation closely and I’m surprised no one else has made the same points, maybe I'm way off base, in which case roast away. With the caveat that this is all speculation, here goes: The Name: Nintendo isn’t going to call it the Switch 2/Switch Pro. Why? While maintaining the product line brand name across generations worked for the Gameboy and DS, they’ve since been burned by the consumer confusion about the Wii U, and so I think they will be more cautious this time, and thus give their next-gen console a new name entirely. My prediction is the Nintendo Mix or the Nintendo Merge. (Name will be explained next) The Gimmick: I haven't seen anyone else predict a gimmick, but Nintendo has had a gimmick with the past several generations of home gaming hardware, they won’t give up having a gimmick: -GameCube: 3D gaming (never released) -Wii: Motion Controls -DS: Dual Screens -3DS: Glasses-Free 3D -Wii U: the Wii U Gamepad -Switch: docked/on the go gaming/removeable controllers I predict the gimmick for the next generation will be mixed/augmented reality. (Hence mix/merge) Why? Two reasons, (1) Nvidia advertises Orin as being optimized/useful for machine vision, and (2) the Mario Kart Live toy smelled like Nintendo testing the waters of mixed reality development. To make this happen, my bet is there will be Windows Hello/Kinect Style Cameras on both the front and back of the next-gen console. Those devices will interact with AR cards provided as a pack in with the console (like the Nintendo 3DS), and my assumption is there will be other more elaborate devices that are compatible, like Amiibo. You will be able to look at the real world through the Merge's screen and see virtual characters interact with it, through machine vision, and the AR cards. The Hardware: My guess is the Nintendo Merge will look recognizably similar to a Nintendo Switch, but with cameras added on the front and back of the device. The Joy-Cons will remain, but now with a actual camera on at least one Joy-Con as well as IR lights or retro reflectors to enable the Merge to accurately measure where the joy-cons are relative to the console. To share the mixed reality gimmick, my bet is the dock includes hardware of similar performance and spec to a Amazon HD Fire Stick, enough for low-latency 1080P gaming via a direct Wi-Fi connection between the two devices, enabling players to move the console around the room with the console's screen streamed to the TV. In this vein, I could also imagine Nintendo offering a streaming stick instead of a dock, there's just no need for the dock with a wireless connection. The joy-cons will remain, but a little more optimized for single player in terms of ergonomics compared to the Switch Joy-cons. The Merge 4K: the truth is that 1080P vs 4K doesn’t matter that much at couch distance, even more so for typical Nintendo customers. But the Press (and the nerds like those of us on this forum!) are into 4K and I could see Nintendo not wanting to get bad press for releasing a console that doesn't support 4K. There is probably currently a conflicting internal debate at Nintendo as to whether they should make the console more expensive so all devices sold support 4K, or whether they should sell 2 versions of the console at launch like Microsoft, which Nintendo seems adverse to doing. -If Nintendo can build the Merge 4K for <$350: they will, in which case there will only be *one* Nintendo Merge. My guess is that users will have the choice of plugging their Merge into their Dock to play at 4K 60 FPS or streaming the game at 1080P 60 FPS. This makes sense as the kinds of games that are best suited for wireless streaming (mixed-reality games where moving the Merge around is part of the game) are going to be less visually intensive, and the lack of 4K will not be a big deal. I mean *maybe* it’s possible to do low latency 4k 60 FPS with H.265 (Orin doesn’t support AV1 encoding), but it’s still iffy. But they more likely stream at 1080P 60 FPS (or heck 1200p-1400p or something) and then upscale that image, and all the most hardcore pixel peepers wouldn't notice. -If Nintendo can't make $350/Merge 4K work, they will sell a downcosted version that doesn't support 4K output. To make things easy for developers, the downcosted "HD" version will have the same Nvidia Orin SOC as the 4K Merge, the difference will be that the Merge HD will come with a more basic wireless streaming dongle *without* the option to plug the Switch in for 4K video, and the 4K version will come with a more advanced dock that supports 4K video. This setup also allows users to buy the $300 console now, and buy the ~$120 upgraded 4K dock later if they want to. To sweeten the deal, Nintendo might include a 4K upscaler chip to make "4K" wireless streaming practical and to better justify the price jump. Marseille, who is the best known entity who makes such a chip, has been awfully quiet for the last couple years, maybe that’s what they have been working on! Pricing and release date: My bet is it comes out in the first half of 2024. We just aren't seeing *any* leaks which indicates to me they aren't on a 2023 production timeline. In terms of pricing, if they can't sell the Merge 4K for $350, I think the lineup will look like this: $299: Nintendo Merge (no dock!) $379: Nintendo Merge + HD Stream Stick/Dock $449: Nintendo Merge 4K + Dock *later* $229-$249: Nintendo Merge Lite What * might* happen with the Merge: Hacking Wifi 7: I could see Nintendo repurposing wifi 7 chipsets, which unlike previous generations, can simultaneously transmit on 2.4, 5 and 6 ghz to transmit the video signal to the dock over 6 ghz while saving 2.4 and 5 for online connectivity. This would make wirelessly streaming 4K video at least somewhat possible. Camera Bar: to allow multi-use of the sensors, my guess is Nintendo will design some experiences around having the Merge docked front and center below the TV with clear view of the players, there may be cases where this is impractical (like you want to stash the dock behind a cabinet door like I personally do with my Switch) to fix this, I bet there will be an optional USB webcam with the same cameras that the Merge has that you can plug into the dock. Dolby Bitstream Surround Audio support, Nintendo consoles (GameCube, Wii, Wii U) used to support Dolby bitstream (compressed) surround audio, but the Switch does not support Dolby, it instead supports PCM 5.1 surround which doesn’t work over ARC or eARC. This wasn’t a big deal when the Switch was designed, back then most surround audio systems owned by people who actually cared about whether their console did surround sound had actual AV receivers, which take PCM audio from a source just fine, and the decision saved Nintendo Dolby licensing costs. But now times have changed, lots of people have surround soundbars connected to their TVs over ARC, so I could see Dolby making a comeback, either as Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 over HDMI or more likely … Dolby Atmos Backwards Dock Compatibility: I could see Nintendo allowing Merge users to reuse their existing Dock for experiences that don’t use the mixed reality functionality, or if the experience *does* use that functionality, the Merge’s Size could have it it peeking over the top of the Switch dock to make docked mixed reality experiences possible. Users would still have to buy the “Merge” Dock to play at 4K or stream wirelessly to the tv. What I don’t think will happen with the Merge: actual CPU/GPU power in the dock. Hot plugging an EGPU mid-game seems tough to avoid crashes, wirelessly streaming to another actual SOC in the dock as one cohesive experience sounds hellish to develop for and regardless it seems expensive. *Maybe* Nintendo designs the Merge to work with a future dock that supports such a thing, but my money is it won’t be available at launch. Extended Switch support: they are going to move away from the Switch *fast*, to try to get people to jump on the Merge ship Roku/Fire Stick/Apple TV streaming, while it is technically feasible to stream from the console to an app on an existing streaming stick rather than using a special stick made by Nintendo, (1) Nintendo hates working with others, (2) unless said others gave Nintendo very low level access, they would have to route the connection over the home’s wifi network rather than direct connect, which is much less reliable. Out of all predictions, this is the one I'm least confident on though, I could see Nintendo considering this trying to get out of the cost of the Stick. Interoperation with iOS or Android devices: as augmented reality objects. In theory there’s nothing stopping you from connecting your iPhone to the Merge and joining the mixed reality fun in a multiplayer gamebut in reality I don’t think Nintendo likes customers using another company’s devices so it won't happen. Better voice chat for online gaming. Nintendo designs their devices for children, and parents who are buying this for their child don’t want their child to stumble upon the Nintendo equivalent of Xbox live trash talk. My bet is the jank app system as we know it sticks around. HDMI 2.1 4K@120 hz at launch: They will save this for a mid-cycle refresh, to allow DLSS to mature enough to make this work with a 20 watt TDP (Ampere, which Orin is based on, doesn’t officially support DLSS 3, DLSS 3 or better will be necessary to hit 4K 120 fps) Gaming experiences that work on just the Dock/Stick. Even though the stick could be built with enough horsepower to run Switch games on its own with negligible marginal cost, there could be concerns about consumer confusion and cannibalization of Merge game sales that keep this from happening. Switch backward compatibility will probably exist on the Merge though. Apple Silicon instead of Orin: In some ways, this would be a good match, Apple is the world leader in high performance, low power ARM chips, Tim Cook might like the chance to smite Nvidia, but Apple doesn't need the money. *<aybe* if Nintendo committed to release some games for Apple Arcade, but it still just feels out of character for both companies.

I have ACER NITRO XZ342CK ultra wide monitor and I can not seem to get my switch to fit with the correct proportions in the screen. I have tried all the settings I can think of and it is either stretched, squished, or has black bars on BOTH the sides and the top and bottom. I would love to have it either fit vertically with black bars on just the left and right, or ideally have it fit the whole screen without being stretched. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.
