I have finally gotten the chance to build my pc after exams So I have been doing a lot of research with pc parts. I want to take the recently released 13900K But I want to take an air cooler so here's my ques : 1) Should I air cool a this CPU for productivity like renders? 2) What will be the highest temps? 3) What will be the the best thermal paste for this CPU and AIR coolers? 4) Should I get a nh-d15 or AK620 ? IF, I under-volt THE CPU or by any pc experts cause if I don't need 5.8 GHZ clock speed for editing and renders its a power hungry CPU I have seen benchmarks it runs pretty hot under load so I wanna know if I under-volt the and air cool The CPU will it work?

Hey, I think I have been fully turned off Kryonaut due to the ongoing pitting issue so I need to find a new paste for my 5900x + nhd15. Whilst I know the difference between reputable pastes are minimal, as my airflow is minimal in this new build and atmosphere temps are not great, every degree counts. Is there any paste that results in consistently lower temps (even if only by a degree)? My only caveat is that the paste cannot be electrically conductive; price isn't a problem and I'm based in the UK if it helps Thanks for the help, Lex

Hey, Im in the middle of building my new system and applied too much paste... I realised after I installed the cooler and figured I would take it off and re apply now instead of later if I had to... I can’t for the life of me get the cooler off and can’t heat up the cpu since the system isn’t fully built (new build) anybody got any ideas I really can’t afford to damage anything rn... thanks for any help, lex

Hey, I put a post out a while back asking whether or not thermal grizzly's kryonaut is still the best thermal compound (for desktop cpus) and the answer was more or less what I expected . Although, after digging around I found quite a few reviews / posts claiming that thermal grizzly's kryonaut has scratched the ihs of peoples cpus or the bottoms of their coolers and degrades at temps above 80c, is this a common / true problem? Just in case the above is true, what would you recommend for a 5900x and nhd15? Ive heard nth2 is quite good; I do know that the difference in the top pastes are minimal but if there is one that is consistently slightly better than others id like to go with that xD. I should mention that price isnt a problem and the only caveat is that it cant be conductive Thanks for any help, Lex.

Hey, I bought the asus b550-e mobo recently and am looking to buy a nhd15 or nhd15/s for a 5900x however I am wondering if there is enough clearance for me to be able to use the top pcie slot? Has anybody had any experience or know of any videos / images that show this mobo and cooler together? Thanks for the help, Stay safe, Lex.

Alright so currently i'm running an I7 5930K at 4.3Ghz @1.251V on a Asus X99 Deluxe II, i'm currently cooling it using a 120mm AIO (coolermaster masterliquid ml120 RGB) with a Noctua fan replacing the RGB fan, but my cpu (as expected) is still running quite hot (up to 90 degrees C) so i ordered an NHD15 and i also ordered some Thermal Grizzly Liquid Metal out curiosity and i also intend to push my OC further, now my question is, since my cpu is a soldered one would using the liquid metal to contact the IHS and NHD 15 offer a cooling performance benefit over using the included thermal paste, and is it safe if done properly? the air config in my case is atm 3x 140mm intake at the front (bequiet shadow wings) and 3x 140mm exhaust at the top (Fractal Design Silent R2's) and the AIO is also serving as an exhaust at the back, and i am using all of this with an aircooled GTX 1070, 48GB of DDR4 3200Mhz (divided over 8 banks) and my case is a Silent Base 801, not sure if all of this is relevant but i thought it might be worth mentioning.

The reason I want to put it in is cause my cpu and gpu are at 80C..... I'm going to do some cable managment tommorow but while I am doing it where would the optimal fan spot be? rn i am thinking right beneath the gpu at the bottom.

Hello. I'm trying to figure out if anything can be done about some (what I consider to be) strange thermal behavior, mostly having to do with chrome I believe. I really like to keep things cool so it just bothers me. There are two main 'scenarios' that I am dealing with. One, is that using the youtube player's playback controls causes my temps to go into the mid-60's in temperature. Before using the controls and my cursor is just off to the side, I stay in the low 40 degree range. So this just doesnt seem right to me. Second is that just launching chrome (especially during gaming, but doesnt have to be) causes like a 20 degree jump in temperature, so when I'm gaming with the CPU at ~60 degrees, it gets to 80 degrees just from opening chrome. I just find this very stressful. (Yes, I know this isnt technically dangerous, but it just bothers me) I'm definitely wondering if it's some kind of BIOS setting because my motherboard had PBO on by default, which surprised me. I turned it off and it hasnt effected performance negatively. (I ran Cinebench before and after and scores were the same). So I'm wondering if there are other semi-overclock settings on by default that I'm not sure of. Below there is a link to a quick video of my bios settings. I've tried to make it easier for anyone kind enough to help out by recording everything I thought might be helpful, the links to those will be below. does the nh-d15 air cooler Come with the mounting for a gigabyte x570 gaming x atx am4 motherboard? The only reason I don’t know is that I normally go aio water cooling or custom water cooling, but when my water cooler failed and destroyed my motherboard, I’m no longer risking that.

Hello so a while ago i bought a new pc. to be used as a vfx workstation. mainly using houdini and octane when 3070 comes out. also planning on some deep learning. in the meantime i got a serius headinjury and diden't realy have the time to properly troubleshoot it yet. so what i've tried first was buy a 750 ti and replace the ancient grafix card that was in there. This still diden't cause annything visable to be outputed to my screen. Specs. Planned os. arch or instantos. The powersuply is verry old i got it for free i hope that's where the issue lies. I put my ramsticks in the light gray slots not in the black ones. i'm scared to remove the cooling and accidentaly spill liquid metal on my motherboard. Also i fergot how to remove the whole nocturne cooling setup. do i have to remove the setup from the case? Should i continiou troubleshooting with the case removed. So im building a whole new system, and the only part im on the fence about is the cpu cooler. It will be cooling a 9700k in a Define C case. Id like to OC it to ~4.5Ghz atleast and possibly more depending on the silicone lottery. Anyway these two are what it came down to for me. Looking at youtube reviwes they seem almost identical in performance, with the bigger NH-D15 being a few degrees cooler than the NH-U12A. However a few also said these new fans on the U12A have a lower pich noise and are one of the least annoying ones to listen to. Having read a few topics here it seems people are a bit more in favor of the D15 saying its quieter. I thought about going with the U12A for the aesthetic reasons but im not sure anymore. Price isn't an issue. Can a few people chime in with their experience? Thanks in advance!

I am planning to get Lian li t60 with noctua nhd15. Since the nhd15 is 165mm in height and because of my ram, it is 174mm in height. Would it fit in the t60 from lian li? It seem that the cooler would interfere with the handle at the top.

I know that the NH-D15 can sometimes block the first PCIE slot, so rest assured on that as a question. My question is actually in regard to the weight of the NH-D15 - it's normally from what Noctua's site read's as around 1320g with fans, so my question is; has anyone ever experienced or seen a board actually bend from the weight of an air cooler? Also another question I could throw in there for any Define R4 or R5 owners - how's the size of it in your cases? Cramped / close to the door or no? Hi, I'm currently on an AIO (120mm) with my 5820K at 3.9GHz, and it's kinda fine. CPU is 50C idle and pump is loud. Note that the cooler has been in use for almost 7 year. So, I'm shopping for a new cooler and have end up in a dilemma: water or air? I would like to have good performance to maybe push the CPU to 4GHz (not more), but also want it to be quiet, not silent. (comparing to my loud AIO right now) I came across the NH-D15 and it was really appealing especially for the price (129$CAD). On the other end, I was looking for something like a NZXT Kraken X53, DEEPCOOL Castle 240EX or Corsair H100x. How would the Noctua compare to those?
