Besides the little bump in price is there any reason to not get the NH-15 straight up and then just not use the 2nd fan if it doesn't fit? Cooler going in a Lian Li o11 Mini, AM4 ATX board with Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM Thank you

Title pretty much sums up my issue. Last year I upgraded from an r5 2600 to an r5 3600. Was using the hyper 212 black on both of them and temps were great, even overclocked. At the beginning of this year I decided to upgrade once again, but this time to a 5800x. I figured I'd probably need better cooling so I opted for the Nh-d15s chromax. In the meantime, I was using the 212 while waiting for the nh-d15. Curious of course, I decided to do some testing. At stock, the 212 was providing the same amount of cooling on the 5800x as it did on the 3600 overclocked. I figured that made sense since more cores and such. However, once the Nh-d15s came in it was spitting out the same numbers as the 212. Even when the 5800x was overclocked. For context, the 3600 would hit about 85c while running cinebench. I understand that cinebench isn't normal load, but I wasn't expecting to have identical temperatures between the two coolers. And this is with all fans at 100% for both cpus. Temps are fine while gaming, usually around 65c. But I have to adjust fan speeds higher to keep it lower. My only thought was maybe a bad paste application? At this point its been like 7 months cause I'm lazy, but the fan noise is becoming annoying. Currently using a Phanteks P300a mesh case with 4 140mm fans. Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome. As title suggests am looking to upgrade stock cooler AMD Ryzen 3600 , more so for noise but also for cooling thinking either Noctua NH-D15s or nzxt kraken x62 280mm aio Either way I'll be getting some more case fans either route but just looking for input , thanks

I'm putting together my new computer and I'd like to go with a super cheesy black and gold theme. The case frame and a few other bits (video card cover, motherboard shield thingy, etc) are going to hopefully be spray-chromed gold but I'm hesitant to do the same with the air cooler heat sink (an NH-D15S) because this particular spray-chrome process (there are a few) essentially involves some layers of paint. I know most people are going to say that getting the cooler itself gold-electroplated sounds ridiculous and is probably not a GOOD idea; I'm not going to dispute that. I just want to know if anyone thinks it's a horrible idea; are there better, safer alternatives? Gold has pretty decent thermal conduction, but would the electroplating process itself cause any unwanted thermal insulating factors? Additional thoughts?

So im building my first build, it will be a: .-Asus TUF Z-390M Pro Gamin (Wifi) (m-ATX) .-i7-9700k .-Seasonic Focus 650w Platinum PSU .-Asus Dual fan RTX 2080 OC My cpu cooling of choice is the Noctua NH-D15s (with the S) and after much tinkering and searching i concluded i wanted to put all that into a Cooler Master Mastercase Pro 3 but looking in the compatibility chart Noctua offers in its site i cant find said case, in the other hand, specs chart from Cooler Master's site says it can support 190mm of cpu cooler height (Images of the two charts included). I dont know if Noctua's site is out of update or i am looking in the wrong messure on Cooler Master Case Specs, but it'd be helpfull if you guys could help me. Thanks

im upgrading from a 5820k to a 7820x , i got myself a x299 gaming 7 gigabyte board , i plan on OC'ing the 8 core cpu either with automatic at first or might do manual OC. is a nh-d15s enough for the cpu ? without a OC i think its fine .im wanting to know with a OC , like anyone else who has the same chip or the 10 core ect if they have used a tower cooler . i got the 140mm fan that came with it and its either a 2400/3000 rpm ek vardar 120mm on the front of the tower cooler , set to min 45% pwm . i know the x299 cpu's run hotter then my x99 one , i do have a h115i corsair AIO but i was having temp issue with it on my x99 board . thats why i got the tower cooler , AIO wouldn't stay at a good idle temp for more then a week . never figured out if it was the board having some issue with the mount of the AIO or it was the AIO already dieing , its not even 9 months old was a RMA replacement for my h110i when it died . (was brand new the cooler above .ant a refurb). idle with the tower atm is in the low 30's c and 100% load high 50's low 60's @ 4.3ghz 1.25v . if the tower cooler wont do any suggestions i will take , i rather stay away from AIO's if possible . i do have my old 2011 custom loop parts but i know i would need a block upgrade

Good Evening everyone, System specs: Case - NZXT Lexa s - Two intake fans 3 exhaust Motherboard - Gigabyte P55m-UD2 CPU - Intel Xeon x3470 - currently with 3.8GHz overclock Ram - 16GB Crucial Ballistix sport XT GPU - MSI R9 390x PSU - 700Watt Rosewill Green Series I just installed the Noctua NHD-15s in my LGA1156 system. I recently upgraded my CPU from an i5-750 to a Xeon X3470 (similar to an i7-870 from what I have been told.) I found that my Zalman CNPS9900a could not keep up with the stock cooling demands of the Xeon. I also recently installed the MSI R9 390x which has bumped my case temps up a bit. I overclocked it to 3.8GHz and am seeing idle temps of around 44 degrees with an ambient of around 25 degrees. The cooler is nearly touching the R9 390x which runs hot, hooray for backplates! I am currently running a 1-1 ratio fan curve on it. The GPU is idling around 47 degrees. When I first installed the cooler I was getting idle temps of around 37 degrees with the base clock. I noticed something strange when I loaded up Crysis 3 - Welcome to the jungle mission. My clocks started fluctuating, Core one spike at 9.2GHz and cores 2 and 3 spiked at 4.2 and 4.4 GHz respectively. To me this seems like it should be impossible. My temps under load are 73, 74, 71, and 77 (well over TJ Max). These seem unusually high. My video card topped out at 67 degrees C I am using a Gigabyte P55m-UD2 motherboard, I disable the turbo boost feature in bios. I used this setup as a basis for my overclock but took the voltages down a notch as well as the core clock. Is there something I am doing wrong? Should I re-mount the cooler? I have mounted several coolers in the past and never had a problem. Is the CPU cooler just that close to the GPU that it is absorbing heat? See attached for pictures of my system, my cable management is not the best, I did what I could given the non-modular power supply and the mid tower case. I appreciate any assistance or insight you guys/gals can provide. I will post my overclock settings when I can get to it.

Okay so I tried GTA V the other day and noticed that the CPU temperature maxed out around 85-86 C and I thought: Enough of this, time to replace that stock cooler. I've purchased Noctua fans before and have been really impressed. And after checking compability on Noctuas website for the three coolers they all seem to be no problem for my Z87M-PLUS. Now the question is: Which of the three should I purchase? I'll take all the advice/opinions I can get! I should perhaps mention that I'm not planning on overclocking my system at all, ain't nobody got time for that. Thanks!

Budget (including currency): 1800~1900€ Country: France Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming, not interested in streaming, a lil bit of 3D (Inventor). Mostly open world rpgs or shooters; Fallout 4 (crap tons of mods), Skyrim (heavily modded as well), Horizon zero dawn, Shadow of the tomb raider, Red Dead Redemption 2, Final Fantasy XV, Cyberpunk 2077, and hopefully sequels of Fallout, elder scrolls, and upcoming Starfield and Diablo 4. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I've been playing on a laptop for too long and I'm tired of thermal throttling and crappy framerates... Time to (re)build the big guy. I plan to re-use my cooler master storm trooper as there is plenty of space inside (hopefully), I don't care that much about the dated front I/O. And I already bought the screen and the SSDs. Resolution would be 1440p @ 165Hz (144 or 120 would be fine), only one monitor for now, but an additional 1440p is possible down the line. It's not my first rodeo but I'm quite rusty and not aware of the latest tech stuff. I imagine there will be some clearance issues with the NH-D15 and the RAM so I've chosen the S version. Also it will be the first time I will get an AMD graphic card, no clue if I'll be missing out on something important or not... Does anyone see any big mistakes with this ?
