My Laptop Spec: CPU: i7-5500U GPU: R9 M375 (broken) Ram: 8gb HDD:1T & SDD: 125gb I'm the planning to use the riser card (4$) 'coz it cost me cheaper than the beast (50$), it's rare to find a riser card that is converted to ngff m.2 so I have to find an adapter for it. (NGFF M.2 to USB adapter if you wanna check it: GFFP2U-G01 PC M.2 NGFF to USB Riser Card KEY A-E Adapter 2-Port for Win7 8 TG | Lazada PH ) So in total using the riser card package cost me 10$. And planning to use RX 570 or lower GPU. So my question is I would like to know if there is a massive difference using neither of the one, is there a performance loss if I use the riser or is my laptop compatible using these EGPU docks? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!! Have a great day!

egpu What cable do I need to get EXP GDC Beast working?
Kenonline12 posted a topic in Graphics Cards
Recently I have purchased an EXP GDC beast 8 mpcie version along with a GTX 1060,550w PSU,molex to 8 pin cable to upgrade my HP elitebook 840 g2 soon the shipment arrives and in my excitement that I can finally play games at playable graphic setting and decent framerate I hurriedly screw my laptop open and to my horror, what awaits me in the wlan slot that I thought was supposedly a mini pcie wifi card was something else all along and the mini pcie is too large to for in the slot I took out the WiFi card and identified it to be a https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/84177/intel-dual-band-wireless-n-7265.html and its form factor turns out to be M.2 2230, M.2 1216 So do I have to order an NGFF cable to replace the mpcie one I have right now? Will an NGFF cable fit in the M.2 2230, M.2 1216 slot? and will the NGFF cable works with the mpcie version exp GDC beast? I have invested so much into this endeavor any help will be greatly appreciated -
Hello, https://item.jd.com/11006430838.html On this Chinese tech site and this specific assortment of ssd and m.2 drives, there are 2 different m.2. drives, both at the same price as each other and both m.2 drives being cheaper than all the other SSDs one says NGFF and the other 3D flash memory when translated to english, would anyone know the difference or which one to get? thanks, also why are the m.2 drives cheaper than the regular SATA SSDs?

So mainly as a curiosity, but also because I have a laptop that could benefit from some extra graphics horsepower, I've purchased this. http://exp-gdc.blogspot.co.id/2016/08/exp-gdc-beast-laptop-external_98.html It hasn't arrived in the mail yet, but it is my understanding that with a solution like this I would be limited to at most 4 gen3 pcie lanes. I plan to either use a gtx 1050 or an rx 560, 2gb, because I believe I won't get all the performance out of any better card with these bandwidth limitations. Am I on the right track here? I don't know very much about pice lanes, so if anyone has any more info regarding how well I can expect this to work once I have all the parts? The laptop I'll be trying this out on is an ASUS TP301UA with an i7 6500U chip with intel HD520 igpu, 512gb Hynix SSD, and the wifi card being replaced by this janky solution is this one https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/wireless/wireless-products/dual-band-wireless-ac-7265.html any help, information, or insight about what I can expect would be really helpful. Thanks in advance

DISCLAIMER: I've searched the forum, and i didn't find what i was looking for. I apologize in advance if there already is information about this, but I'm not familiar with the jargon enough to recognize it when it's there. ANYWAYS. I bought a 2016 Razer Blade with a 128 GB HD. got a good deal. Then i proceeded to hunt on ebay and got my hands on a Samsung NVMe sSD 960 EVO m.2 1TB. Now I'm trying to install the new HD into my notebook. I've done something like this before where I connected the new SSD to my notebook via USB. Cloned the drive. Then switched out the HDs and DONE. finito. This time, it seems the NVMe SSD is far too advanced and new for things like this... The best i could find was a M.2 NGFF external enclosure which can connect via USB. My question is this, can I buy this relatively cheap enclosure to perform a clone? It says it supports: B key end connector M key end connector B+M key end connector But the thing is... the enclosure says it is for NGFF m.2. Will it work enough for me to connect my NVMe drive to my notebook to just clone the data, so i can remove the old 128 SSD for my new 1TB SSD? Is there another way? Am I going about this the right way? I would really appreciate some help! Thanx in advance. -doubleo

Hello, I am interested in the External GPU docking station from Beast and wonder if I can fit it onto my laptop. My laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad W541 with a Quadro K1100m and an i7-4710MQ. The beast external GPU connects to a laptop through a mini pci-e port but I noticed my laptop has a spare NGFF slot. Online I have found a NGFF to mini PCI-e adapter and I wonder if I can just use that and connect the Beast to my laptop through the NGFF slot? On a sidenote, this laptop has the option of connecting to a docking station. Those docking stations have an ethernet connection, would it be possible to connect the external gpu to something inside the docking station? Because that would be extremely usefull. So I have an acer laptop that has an 7th gen i3 and I want to be able to game with it. I watched some videos about an external gpu dock and looked it up. My laptop has a ngff wifi card so I searched a compatible one. Found this one but it doesn't say that it supports 1050ti (there's a picture below). Here is the amazon.de link (because I'm buying from finland) . It's in german but I just use google translate built in google chrome. (or an extension) If I shouldn't buy this one could you guys help me find a good other option? (Preferrably ngff)

I have ordered for a mini PCI-E external graphic card dock. https://m.banggood.in/Mini-PCI-E-Version-V8_0-EXP-GDC-Beast-Laptop-External-Independent-Video-Card-Dock-p-1011222.html?rmmds=search But i found out today that my WiFi port was NGFF slot. So does using this as a connector decrease the gaming performance in any way? https://www.amazon.in/Buyyart-mSATA-Adapter-Replacement-Converter/dp/B075TDTRN1/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=2RQQC3NHFKPJL&keywords=ngff+to+mini+pcie&qid=1553355626&s=gateway&sprefix=ngff+to+mini+pc&sr=8-1

Hallo :P I have an issue with a NVMe(1) I have and I really don't know what to make of it :E My motherboard doens't have a M.2, so I purchased an SATA-Adapter(2), but when I conected it, to didn't show up.. and get reeeaal hot! My first intuetion was to look for shorts on the board. Nothing. Check the on-board voltage regulator, check the pinout of the connector, but nothing. I disassembled my laptop afterwards, to test it, but the NVMe worked fine, so no problems there. A USB adapter(3) showed that it needs another voltage source, becaus the laptop coundn't deliver the current. But when a 12 voltage source is applied, it don't reconice it... and again, it get's hot. So, is it posible that I'm just an idiot? I mean, my knowledge about all the pretty numbers and text on the NVMe itself, itsn't great. My train of thought was somthing like: It's M.2, I need a M.2 adapter. Which is now alot to go on, I'll admit, but I thought that was enough :( Does anyone know know what chould be the problem? I just don't feel like it's the SATA-Adapter(2), but I definitely chould be wrong c: (1)NVMe: https://www.cpumedics.com/toshiba-kxg5aznv256g-256gb-m-2-pcie-nvme-2280-mlc-3d-nand-ssd-solid-state/ (2)SATA-Adapter: https://www.digikey.dk/product-detail/da/tripp-lite/P960-001-M2/TL2202-ND/6680074 (3)USB Adapter: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32978430883.html?gps-id=pcDetail404&scm=1007.16891.96945.0&scm_id=1007.16891.96945.0&scm-url=1007.16891.96945.0&pvid=23c47400-11ef-4783-8e1a-1c0cdb63a8d7&_t=gps-id:pcDetail404,scm-url:1007.16891.96945.0,pvid:23c47400-11ef-4783-8e1a-1c0cdb63a8d7,tpp_buckets:668%230%23131923%2358_668%23808%235965%23518_668%23888%233325%239_668%232846%238112%23595_668%232717%237561%23331__668%233374%2315176%23445

Ok. I need some help. Im going to upgrade my ssd which has my win10 os on it. Im upgrading to a larger size. See pictures of the specs of the current ssd i have and the other picture of the adaptor i want to use. Will it work. Please let me know. Its so confusing. My ssd is pcie m.2 key b+m 2280 ngff.... can i use this adaptor i bought, it says... PCIE NVME m.2 SSD To PCIE X16 Expansion Card Input interface: M-Key M.2 NVME ( Don't Support SATA Protocol m.2 NGFF ) Output interface: PCIE X16 If i cant... can you link to an adaptor that will work. If you feel like helping out... can you explain ngff and nvme... are they the same? Does b+m work on just key b or just key m adaptors? Ugh. Im old and out of the loop. Thank you so much in advance. I really appreciate it. Ive done the research but im not understanding...

I want to install a NGFF wifi chip into my computer, but I only have one M.2 slot on my motherboard, and that slot is M keyed, which I'll be using with a NVMe ssd. I want to find an adapter card that will let me plug in my wifi chip (Intel 8265), so I can use that Instead of my dongle. Thanks in advance

My Lite-on l9G L8T-256L9G (256GB) ngff m.2 ssd 2280 has been running low on storage space for quite some time now (due to Win OS and all major apps I installed in it). I always used a workaround by moving files to my 1TB sata hd. It works but my 1TB Drive also gets full and I have to tranfer files to an ext hdd. So now instead of moving files from one storage to another, I was thinking of upgrading to a 1TB m.2 sata iii. I am choosing either wd or samsung evo would be a good choice. (Samsung pro is too expensive for me right now.) Add to the fact that I will be heading to Hong Kong tomorrow where prices are cheaper than in my country, then this would be a good time to buy i thought. but here lies the problem for me: will a m.2 sata iii be compatible with m.2 sata ngff? i’ve read online that ngff = m.2. But then I go to newegg and the filter shows m.2 sata, m.2 sata iii, and m.2 ngff. Yes sata and sata iii have different xGb/s speeds but I din’t see much info for ngff. Could someone shed some light on this ngff? ... will my choice of samsung evo 1TB 6Gb/s m.2 sata iii be a good choice?

I'm thinking of getting this to use as a boot up drive for the Asus Maximus Impact VI motherboard. It has an mPCIe combination slot on the motherboard that I can use. Its sole purpose will be just a drive that I will install Windows 8.1 on and nothing more. My questions are: Is it compatible? The motherboard manual says that the mPCIe combo II card will take M.2 NGFF Type 2242, 2260, 2280, or 22110 for another slot on it. I just want to make sure. I won't have to sacrifice anything else for it, will I? [PCE lanes, SATA slot, etc.] Is there another one that you would recommend I get instead of that one that's, at most, $50? I've done my research to find that it should be compatible and I shouldn't have to sacrifice anything for it. It's the best I could find within my price range. If you can find better, please let me know. I just want to make sure that everything will be peachy once I get it and install it. Thank you.

I'm considering getting one of the Nex gen form factor PCIe2 SSDs for my gaming rig. I'd really like to see a test of this hardware. I was unable to find any reviews on the PCIe2 version of the NGFF SSDs on youtube or any of any decent value anywhere else. You guys could be first in on this one.

Hello Everyone! I am new to the forum and computers so I don't know how things work around here... However, I still wanted to ask a question here: I have a relatively new skylake laptop by acer which has a 256 GB SATA m.2 SSD installed. It also has a wifi module that connects using an mPCIE slot as far as I know. Would it be possibile to replace the wifi card with an SSD (PCIE or SATA, don't mind which), if necessary using an adapter or similar? I am planning to upgrade my storage capacity to around 500 GB. If I can't replace my wifi card I will resort to just replacing my current SSD with a larger SATA SSD. Thanks a lot for anything that you can contribute! J
