[Specs] CPU: Intel i7-4770 Motherboard: ASUS Intel LGA 1155 Micro ATX P8H67-M Ram: Two sticks of DDR3 8gb ram Storage: HDD 1 tb Misc.: Tower Fans, Tower RGB light Hello, I have recently purchased a new Motherboard, PSU, and Tower. I moved all my components into my new Tower, but I still have my old Motherboard. The new motherboard is screwed in, my Graphics card, RAM, HDD, and CPU are all in and well-seated. My PSU is hooked up, plugged in to my wall, and connected to my HDD and motherboard. My I/O, fan, power, and audio connectors are all plugged into the motherboard. However when I attempt to boot my PC, nothing happens. I double checked and confirmed that the front panel buttons are connected and booting the PC by touching the connectors with a screwdriver, so the buttons are not faulty. The PSU's cords have been hooked up with every wire, except the VGA wire because my Graphics Card doesn't have a connector for that. The motherboard has a green light on it, so it is recieving power. My monitor is plugged in to my wall outlet and motherboard as well. I've removed all but essential components such as 1 stick of RAM and the CPU so see if one of my components was faulty. It did not boot, even when removing all non-essential components. I've done this for both sticks of RAM. This is everything I've tried this far, and I provided as much notable information as I could. Please help me troubleshoot this, I'll be on standby answer any questions.

My current rig 10yo Asus H97m-e intel i7 4970 32Gb ddr 1600 RAM GTX 1080Ti HPE ProLiant DL360p Gen8 CPU 2x Xeon E5-2650L v2 @ 1.70GHz RAM 64Gb ddr 1600 RAM GPU nVidia GT1030 2GB DDR4 Palit DVI-D HDMI Low Profile It has been a while and i kept upgrading my PC to the point where this is it. Not that i complain the PC works just fine runs games that i play on one monitor and multitasking on the second no problem. Problem is i run davinci resolve with 1/4 proxys and it runs fine until the video starts to get longer or i add color grade speed up video or FX. export in 4k is around 20 fps (i let it run through the night if i have to do 10 renders) I edit mostly files from the HPE server i have a basic shared folder setup and gigabit connection (i know its not optimal but my computer knowledge is limited) Tho result is very similar when editing on a local SSD so i assume storage is not the main issue. Since my server has 40 threads i thought i will edit straight from the server thats why i tried putting in a GPU but i find the experience unsatisfying and laggy (using REMOTE DESKTOP) Parsec does not support GT1030 GPU The thing is i have yet to receive any income from my videomaking but i want to make it a side hustle for real and i enjoy creating a lot (been filming and editing since i was 12) I just can't justify spending 5000€ for an editing rig specially since the current one kinda works altho nerves are breaking more and more often. Is there a way to optimise my workflow so i can edit straight from the server using some other remote service? Would a 10 gigabit connection between my PC and server help with that and is it worth the € ? Mind you i live in EU so Computer components are expensive and sought after even on ebay I have found out that maybe Davinci resolve free version is the bottleneck since it does not utilise the GPU but my CPU is at 100% when i edit so i doubt that is the main problem. I have never used an Apple product in my life apart from iPod but i'm seriously considering getting a Mac mini hearing the performance is good for this kind of work For me in my country an option for M2 mac mini 16Gb RAM 256Gb SSD is 1000€ and i keep the old rig for gaming. (not fond of the idea tho) Or can that money be spent on a motherboard and CPU that can take me further than apple silicone? I have cold feet about spending a 1000€ for the most basic Apple product i know nothing about. A machine i cant open take apart or modify in any way and above all 0 chances of component repair or replace. I was looking into second hand M1/2 devices to dip my toes into the Mac world but i cant find anything worth the money in Europe. I just don't trust the small box despite all the good reviews i believe this community will know what to do. Thank you in advance for anyone willing to read this post

Hello, I'm buying a new motherboard for the i5 8400 I have. But when I see the audio specs, almost all looks the same. All have realtek audio, the same blank glowing line to reduce interference. Smartphones have specs like LDAC or something, but these are not available for any desktop motherboard I saw. For context, I'm considering to buy ASUS PRIME B365-PLUS, is the audio of this particular motherboard any different from Gigabyte B365 Gaming HD? If yes, then please explain

Budget (including currency): 200 $/ 15000 Indian Rupees Country: India Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Android Studio, Blender and Illustrator Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I bought Gigabyte B360m Gamming HD 2 yrs ago, it passed away 2 months ago, the company refused to gave warranty because I changed the thermal paste on the chipset heatsink. Now I have the i5 8400 and need a new mobo. I run my PC almost 18 hrs per day. 6-8 hrs when I sat on the desk and after that it renders in blender while I sleep. I saw the ROG STRIX B365-G GAMING. Is the i5 8400 worth this motherboard? Should I choose a lower end motherboard for my build or this is the one for my needs? I'm thinking of buying a case in that budget too as I was running my system adjusting the mobo in a thin dell optiplex case with very bad airflow. I must have purchased a Ryzen but those were not available at my place that time. Please help!

Motherboard Suggestions will be nice (£200 GBP aroundish can go higher if needed - planning on upgrading to 5000s in future) CPU:3700x Motherboard: MSI MPG x570 Gaming Edge Wifi (Known to run hot, got it for like £60 of a friend who never used it tho). Hello, today I was just playing some games while watching netlix and my computer suddenly black screens, I looked inside the computer case and noticed that on my motherboard in the EZ Debug LEDS that the CPU was lit meaning it isn't detecting or it is dead (something a long those lines). At first I thought it might of Overheated but normally there is a Blue screen for that (I think). I left it to cool down and tried it about 10 minutes later and still nothing, just the Red LED, then I started to think if the mobo is dead or the socket at least as all fans are moving, gpu fans are on, (also chipset fan). I moved my CPU to my second PC to see if it was the CPU or mobo and it worked fine on my 2nd pc. I went back my main put it back in (reset bios/cmos as well) and still nothing. Is this due to a dead Socket? or could it be something else? If it is the motherboard and it has died, any recommendations? I can spend around £200 (GBP)(can go a bit higher if needed) Any information will help, if I am wrong about something please say as learning about these problems are very interesting to me. Edit: Also the case power buttons do not work (power button and cold restart).

So I just upgraded to a new motherboard the Gigabyte Z690 UD AX DDR4, everything is installed correctly and working. However I noticed that when I flip the power supply switch from Off to On the PC instantly powers on without me pressing the power button on the case. I also noticed that when I ask Windows 11 to shut down, my computer will turn off, but will instantly power back on again. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? Thanks -Matthew

Hi, a few days ago I’ve changed my motherboard from Asrock H410M-HVS to MSI Z590 Tomahawk Wifi. I have the same other components, which worked on the Asrock, but now It’s self restarting on idle. But when I’m gaming or stress testing It’s all stable and good, CPU temperature under 50°C and GPU tepmerature under 60°C. My specs: Intel core i5 - 10400F GTX 1650 SUPER 4GB RAM Patriot Viper 2666Mhz Motherboard: MSI Z590 Tomahawk Wifi PSU: Zalman 750W (idk the model exactly, but it worked fine, don’t think It’s PSU problem according to not bluescreening) The most weird is that it doesn’t bluescreen when crashing, it simply starts lagging and after it restarts. Then it loads for a little longer and works for a few minutes again. Unlucky is that I cannot try to raise the CPU voltage because It’s not overclockable CPU. Thank you everyone for your tips for solution.

Hey guys! I am a first time builder so recently I got all the parts for my new build. I bought a used MSI Tomahwak B450 Max and a new AMD Ryzen 5 5600x. When the CPU finally arrived, I started building my computer but when i tried to turn it, it would give me the CPU red light error and there would be no display either. After trying to troubleshoot by replugging all the components and reseating the CPU and the cooler it would still give me the red light. So now I am looking for a new mobo, prolly gonna buy a new one. If you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. Would love to keep it under $100 but i can spare a little more if it’s worth the money.

Recently got a new motherboard and I just can't seem to get the front panel connector to plug in. This is my first time installing an upgrade and I'm not really sure what to do. I will say the cord almost looks to big to plug in and tips or solutions as to what I can do to fix this

So I am building a pc and am stuck with what motherboard to get. The specs I plan on running are a Ryzen 5 3600, 32gb of DDR4 Ram 3200mhz Corsair Vengeance, Gigabyte GTX 1660S, Crucial 500gb NVME, Corsair VS650. Should I A buy a b450m tomahawk max and have no future proofing , only upgrades being the higher end 3000s. Should I B buy an Asrock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 and have future proofing for the 4000s series of cpus but spend £50 more. Or C should I wait and buy a b550, even though at the moment I am unsure if it is compatibke with the 3600, and spend £50 more than the b550?

Im upgrading from the FM2A88M Pro3+ mobo and AMD Athlon x4 860k cpu to the h81m-p33 mobo and the i5 4590 cpu. I was looking at benchmarks and all that stuff about the cpu when I came across someone saying that when you get a new motherboard and cpu you have to buy or re activate windows. I have no clue what so ever how to do that. I saw that the new Windows 10 anniversary update had an option where you could sign in with a microsoft account and I think it lets you get windows on a new mobo for free but I dont know how to do it. I'm guessing that when I turn on my pc it will just ask for the activation key and I just sign in and re install from there ?? I honestly dont know.

Right I'm buying a new motherboard soon, and i would like to do a fresh new install of windows 10 on it. The way in which i obtained windows 10 was through a free upgrade from windows 7. (I bought windows 7 legitimately and still have the disk and ID) Now I understand in order to be able to use windows 10 again on a new motherboard you have to link a microsoft account to windows 10 on your current system to activate it. I've done this as you can see in the image below, however what i'm not undestanding is how exactly do i activate windows 10 when i boot up my new motherboard for the first time, with completly wiped drives. I have no idea where the windows 10 installer would show up, on a completly new system with empty drives. I would assume you need to create an installer on a usb drive or something. But to be honest i'm not really sure, I've only ever had one pc, i've never upgraded. Can anyone explain step by step, as soon as i boot up my new system for the first time, how to re activate/reinstall windows 10, with this microsoft digital licence thing. Thanks, GR412

Yesterday, I went to boot my PC like any other day and I was greeted with a USB overcurrent error. Fast forward through a few hours of troubleshooting (even tried both of my bios options and reset both also) and finally ripping the motherboard out of the case and running minimal hardware (video card, cpu, and ram only), and I still am greeted with the same error. So from what little information I can find on the topic, it seems that the motherboard has just gone bad. I have ordered a new motherboard (it is the exact same model) and it is on the way. However I am a bit worried. I have some extremely crucial data that isn't backed up (due to space limitations and stupidity). I have a RAID 5 with three 3TB hard drives. I was wondering about the difficulty in moving this raid to a new motherboard. Even though it's the same exact motherboard and presumptuously the same raid controller, is there a step process I should follow to ensure that the data isn't accidentally erased when setting up the raid again? I cannot find much information on this topic. Thanks in advance! Motherboard is MSI X99S and I use the built in raid controller with Intel Rapid Storage sofware.

Hello all, I've just ordered a Ryzen 7 2700X with B450 Chipset motherboard to replace my ageing i5-3570k and Z77 board. I've got my current install of Windows 10 64bit installed on an SSD, and was wondering whether it'd be simple as plug in to motherboard, choose boot drive in BIOS, then continue as normal? Or would the change from intel to AMD 'spook' the OS install a bit (I have no idea)? Thanks, Rhys

I built my P/C with my son 3 years ago, and since Windows 10 updated, my Adobe CS is F*ed up! I can't run both Illustrator and After Effects or After Effects let alone opening Photoshop at the same time! I have 16 gigs of Ram, but when I run my stats it doesn't seem to be maxed out. I am thinking I need to go to 32 gigs of ram with new cpu and motherboard. With new motherboard I can also upgrade my ram to better ram since my ram is an older version. I don't know if it is Microsoft Windows 10 that is f*&^ing up my computer or if it is Adobe CS that is doing it. It is just so frustrating that every video I make if I need to go back into Illustrator to do some cool new typography or an illustration I have to close after effects. It is even hard to run a browser while running After Effects. Oh and Illustrator is driving me up the wall! When I am drawing in Illustrator it will often lag so badly that I have black screen between moving objects on the screen. I would tell you what is in my case, but I don't remember and it is three years old so it is obsolete anyways by now! I do remember that I am running AMD, as that was what was in my budget at the time. What would be the best fit for what I am doing and to run Abode CS. I work in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Media Encoder, Premiere Pro, In-design, some flash, and some Dreamweaver but not often anymore on the Dreamweaver. I sometimes game, but that is not my main focus on my computer. My main this is video and then I design art for clothing and my Illustrator files are often 11000 x11000 pixels when I am designing for leggings and dresses. These are massive files, so I need to be able to manipulate them without having my p/c lag/black screen for up to a minute every time I move an object. Below are some samples of what I am working with. This is my business, so having my computer not keeping up is not okay! Adobe doesn't really use my 960 graphics card so that is not my problem. Adobe told me to turn that off, but that did nothing to help with the lag and the locking up my P/C.

Spy pictures from TechPowerUP’s coverage of Computex have revealed MSI’s upcoming Threadripper motherboard. https://www.techpowerup.com/244806/msi-meg-x399-creation-to-be-the-most-outrageous-threadripper-motherboard-you-can-buy Yes, despite being a refresh, it is still called X399. it clams a 19 phase power delivery (most likely a 8+3 phase with 2 sets of components each like they usually do; or a doubled 8 phase (8x2) since there is no 19 phase controller on the planet) which is massive overkill probably even for a 32-core Threadripper if AMD will release one. It has a very, very unique design which is a love-it or hate-it deal. It has minimal RGB which to me is a good thing but for others might be bad. IO wise: Not sure if there is 10gb Ethernet though. This board also claims to have StoreMI integrated as it is technically a X399 "refresh". Bonus: MSi has also teased a B450 board which is spotted by tweaktown: That is so far the new motherboards at computex that I'm aware. Expect more b450/Z490/Z390/X399 boards for the upcoming days.

Alrighty so a bit of a problem. I bought a new 8GB stick of RAM, DDR Corsair XMS, it's identical to my other stick BUT for the part that the new one is 1600mhz, while the old is 1333mhz. Now in my old motherboard there was seemingly no problems, however since then I have upgraded to a new CPU and motherboard and the stick simply won't run. Whenever I insert the stick, before, if it was solo or together with the other one, just infinite boot loop, I couldn't even get into bios. Now I changed some BIOS setting to automatically have the DRAM frequency at 1333mhz instead of ''Auto'', however now instead of just constantly restarting and looping, it just starts up once, fans work and stuff, however just black screen and nothing happens. Motherboard = asus b85m-g plus/usb 3.1 CPU = Xeon E3 1231 V3 GPU = R9 380 MSI Gaming edition PSU = Seasonic S12II-620 RAM = Corsair XMS3 8GB (1x 8GB) 1333MHz DDR3 RAM = Old stick that works perfectly. = Corsair XMS3 8GB (1x 8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 RAM = New stick, doesn't work in new motherboard. Just saw that the new stick has a Latency Timing: CL11 while the old has a CL9, does that change anything?

So I am going to replace my old Asus P5B motherboard with a newer ASRock H97 Anniversary coupled with a used Intel Pentium g3258, new 8gb of ddr3 ram, a new CD-ROM drive, and a new 1 TB HDD. But the problem is that I would like to keep all of my files, games, etc. from my old pc that are on my old HDD, and be able to use them on my new setup. Would I be able to reinstall the OS (windows 7 64 bit) onto the new HDD and then when everything is all set up, just turn off the PC and plug in my older one? Would there be problems with having the OS on two different HDDs? Or could I just slap all of the new stuff together with everything plugged in and have it work just fine and dandy? I am a bit of a beginner in the PC world, but I should understand most of what you are saying, and that is why I am here on the forums, because this is my first serious gaming platform that I am putting together and it would be a shame to lose all of my files because I *thought* I knew what I was doing. Thank you much!
