I'm finally making my first GPU upgrade to the system I built back in 2019. Are there general things I should do before or after I put the new card in? I did buy a new power supply last year with the new 16 pin connector, 850 watt power supply so I'm good there as well. I assume the main things will be get the drivers for the new card installed but should I delete the drivers for the old card as well? I will be staying with Nvidia to hopefully make things easier.

Recently when I was gaming and I had a power outage during it. My 1080ti sparked and started smoking so dealing with that was fun. Surprisingly after that it still kind of works, but the only game I can play is Minecraft before the texture update, but besides that my gpu can no longer run my more graphic demanding games so I need a new one. I was thinking about getting rx 6600 xt, is that a good upgrade from the 1080ti or should I go with something different if the 6600 xt is a good idea which one should I get?

I just upgraded my gpu from the GTX 1660 ti to the RX 6750 XT. I used DDU to remove all NVIDIA graphics drivers before putting in the new gpu. I then installed the current AMD drivers from Adrenaline. The pc works fine for a few minutes - anywhere from 3-30 it seems - then it will crash to a black screen on my main monitor (connected with Displayport, if that matters) and a blank green screen on my second monitor (connected with hdmi). Video for reference: IMG_5639.MOV My attempted fixes so far have included updating my BIOS, trying unsuccessfully to update my chipset drivers, and checking for loose cables in my pc. It may be of note that I also had to replace my psu when I upgraded the gpu. I think everything is connected properly, but if this may be a power issue, please let me know. Does anyone have experience with this or know what I should do? I can return the gpu if I have to because it just came today. My google searches lead me to believe this is almost exclusively an issue with Radeon cards. I’ll go back to NVIDIA if I have to, but I’d very much like to resolve this without returning anything. Help!

I recently installed an RX 480 8gb, and hooked up my 2 monitors and powered it on. The second monitor was detected in the BIOS, but when it booted to the OS, it stopped being detected. I tried installing radeon software adrenalin, but it gave me an error after it was done that sent me to this website. I have tried reinstalling the program and the same issue has occurred. I have been working on this for hours and do not know what to do.

On paper the 6950xt looks like it has better specs, but as the 7700xt hasnt released yet, I've seen conflicting specs on multiple websites. My budget is $700 and was wondering if i'm going to get a better value when the 7700xt comes out or if getting a 6950xt for $649.99 at my local microcenter is the right move. Also worth noting I have a 750w psu, an AMD 5600, and aiming for 1440p.

So I finally got a GPU for my potato PC expecting a substantial increase in FPS and smoother experience at higher resolutions. Got a new 650W Thermaltake RGB PSU to support the card as my older one was just 500W. Once I installed the drivers, did all the basic stuff, and expected to have fun, my gaming experience got worse. There's screen tearing and continues frame drops. I used to get an average of 55 FPS in Valorant at 1600*900 res but now it shows 200 FPS but the frame drops are awful and the experience is a lot worse than like playing at 40 FPS. So the game shows frames but it's like they're all disappearing somewhere. I can run games at higher res but the frame drops are just AWFUL!! Sorry if the description is a bit messy but this is how I'm able to explain what's happening! I've tried some general fixes but none seem to work. Please help me solve this issue. PC Specs: CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 2400G RAM - Corsair Vengeance 16 GB *1 GPU - Ryzen RX 6700 10 GB (non-XT) Motherboard - B450 AORUS PRO SSD - Crucial BX500 120 GB HDD - Western Digital 1TB PSU - Thermaltake Lite Power RGB 650W Monitor - BenQ GW 2270H (Later got a newer version of this under warranty and can't remember the actual name)

I am considering building a new PC and thanks to the massive increase in prices for this generation of PC hardware, I decided to consider used hardware as a part of the upgrade. Lately I have been watching last-gen Graphics cards to see if I could score a good deal and unfortunately it seems like it is just never going to happen. At this point Ive decided "screw it", Im just going to pay the money and get myself a new Radeon RX 7900-XT because the MSRP has dropped by $100 since launch and now it's a DECENT value (neither good nor bad). I figured I should explain why I am going with a next-gen card despite the rediculous pricing and why I feel like anyone considering a used higher-end card to try and get close to the performance of these next-gen cards should just buy the next-gen instead. Lets start with AMD since it is my card of choice plus the used market seems to be worse on the AMD side of things. So the card I am interested in is the ASRock Taichi 7900-XT for $849.99. I chose this card because my 3440x1440 resolution is fairly demanding and my goal is 120 FPS on High Settings for a nice blend of high refresh rate and high visual fidelity. I chose the Taichi specifically because I enjoy tinkering and overclocking and the Taichi is the best value AIB card right now. The chart below shows the performance differences between the RX 7900-XT and its $200 more expensive cousin, the RX 7900-XTX, at 3440x1440p with completely maxed out/Ultra settings on all games tested. A Taichi 7900-XTX will cost you over $1100. I feel the 7900-XTs performance is more than satisfactory and there will even be a bit of performance headroom in most games for a few years at least, so the additional $250 required to go from a Taichi 7900-XT to a Taichi 7900-XTX simply isn't worth it in my opinion. Only those targeting 3840x2560 4K resolution should consider the XTX from team Red. Now how does this price-to-performance ratio stack up to the used market? Well unfortunately, the used market doesn't even come close. The value you get for the money you pay is substantially better with the 7900-XT than anything on the used market that even comes close to the same performance tier. For example, the average price of a USED RX 6900-XT right now is $700. Thats simply rediculous. The 7900-XT not only has about 15% more performance than last-gen's flagship 6900-XT, but its also a brand new card, with a warranty, piece of mind, and no history to worry about. Its also got more features and updated I/O being a next-gen card. A USED 6900-XT would only start to make any sense whatsoever if you could find one for $500 or less, and that just isn't possible right now. Even the 6800-XT isn't selling used for that low of a price. Im not sure when people went absolutely insane and forgot that their used hardware isn't worth anywhere near the same money as new hardware but consider this when selecting used hardware: 1.) Its used, this automatically lowers its value by at least 30% because it no longer has a warranty and is no longer new and you are taking a risk. 2.) Value must be compared to what is available at the time of sale. So because a 6900-XT is used and 15% slower than a 7900-XT, a used 6900-XT's asking price should be 15% lower than the 7900-XT because of the performance gap, and then ANOTHER 30% lower because it is used and you are taking a risk. Obviously, a $700 asking price on a used 6900-XT is simply rediculous and thats all there is to it. Now lets take a look at the NVIDIA side of things. The news is ever so slightly better but not much. The very cheapest new RTX 4070-Ti will cost you $829.99, so that's not even beginning to look at nice AIB cards with good cooling designs, thats bottom of the barrel. Well, a used RTX 3090 is about $675-$700 and the performance is about 15% less than the 4070-Ti. Ugh... Its pointless, its completely pointless. Once again, the asking price of the USED RTX 3090 makes its price-to-performance ratio about the same as the 4070-Ti despite the fact that the 4070-Ti is newer with more features, a warranty, and no history to worry about. So in conclusion, if you were hoping to save some cash by buying used flagship cards, just forget it. There is absolutely no point whatsoever. The smartest options available are: Save up the extra money from purchasing a last gen flagship and just spend the extra $100-$150 on next-gen instead. Or - Wait for the less expensive next-gen offerings to hit the market and hopefully that will force the used market pricing to come down once they realize just how bad the pricing is. Either way, looks like I have a 7900-XT Taichi in my future .

I am thinking about buying this GPU from Newegg because I need a new GPU. My old GTX 970 is showing it's age and I haven't been able to run games like Guardians of the Galaxy and Cyberpunk 2077 with at least 30fps, even as low as 720p! Now, with it falling below the recommended specs for games like Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, I need a new card in order to play it. So I am thinking, for at least the time being, on upgrading to the 6700 xt so that I can play my games at 1440p while also hopping to reach 120fps in some games. I found this card for $369. I have a Intel i5-12400 so I feel like this is an achievable goal. What do you think? Should I jump on this card? I am thinking of buying it and then selling it when the new mid range AMD cards come out, if they are like an actual good value. https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-radeon-rx-6700-xt-gv-r67xteagle-12gd/p/N82E16814932418?itemPosition=1-12&exactIndex=2&isPLP=true

Hello Guys, I recently installed a second GPU in my build because I didn't have enough Display ports, I installed it, plug in the 8 pin power and booted up my PC but to my surprise there is no signal coming out of the second graphics card, The fans are spinning but I'm not sure what is the issue. I have checked Device manager and the Card does not show up, I have also check my bios and it doesn't show up either. I'm not sure what other steps I can take to troubleshoot this, hopefully some here has encountered this issue before. Thanks in advance. This is my current build: Ryzen 9 5950x MSI B550 Edge WIFI Nvidia RTX 3070Ti (Primary GPU) Nvidia GTX 1660 S (Secondary GPU) EVGA 1000 Watt 80G Thanks!

I recently purchased a 3070 ti MSI Gaming x Trio and replaced my 1060 6gb and it's currently performing worse and weird. When I boot it gives me a few green lines, reboots and then starts normally, with no green lines again even if I reboot. Just the first time in the day. This doesn't happen with GTX1060 which runs and performs like it should. Before I could run Conan Exiles at a mix of Low to High settings on my 1060 and would get 40-50 fps depending on what as around. On the 3070 ti I can't even get 20 fps on everything cranked to low. Games recognize my 3070 ti and auto set things to high, but once I am out of menus (maybe 60fps) and into games, it tanks to average 10-20fps on all low settings. I did a clean install with DDU. I made sure to update my MB to the latest Bios and the GPU to the latest Driver. Did a fresh OS install on different HD. I actually sent the card back to newegg and got a completely different and new sealed card and same thing. And made sure GPU has 2 different power cables. So I got my hands on a fanless R7 350 with one chunky heatsink. I tried plugging it in my PC but no display comes out. I didn't want to put my fingers on the heatsink since I didn't want a mild burn to just see if the gpu starts.. I can see it has a fan port but the previous owner told me it worked just fine without one. I haven't tried reseting the motherboard yet. When I plugged my old gpu back it worked just fine. Anyone got any clues? I connect it thru a DVI to VGA connector since my monitor has only one VGA port and nothing else. Should I try connecting it thru HDMI to the tv?

Hey Community My Dad bought himself a Lenovo ThinkStation S10 Core 2 Quad 2.83GHz and it was a Nvidia Geforce GT 240, and would like to uprgade it. I tried my Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660 6GB, but the Computer beeped a bit and then proceeded to not display anything. I also tried a AMD Radeon HD5770, same results. (System service parts - ThinkStation S10 (type 6423, 6483, sadly no GPU's listed or i couldn't find the GPU section). <He wants to use his Workstation for editing, and his GPU is no weak and doesn't support a function required for the editor of his choice (soemthing with a C and 2, don't remember anymore). Anyways Id like to know if you, the Community, have some ideas on wich GPU's still would run in that Rig and wound be enough to run DaVinci Resolve for Full HD editing (1920 x 1080). Thank you in advance. Elia Sigrist

Couple of years ago I built this rig: R7 3700x Gigabyte RX 5700xt MSI B450 Tomahawk max 2x8GB 3200mhz RAM 500gb samsung evo 650W power supply Ever since I built this I had nothing but problems with this GPU (frequent crashes, black screens, etc) It's getting worse and worse every day, so I decided I should buy new GPU. So far I'm down to get 3070 ( MSI RTX 3070 VENTUS or another Gigabyte 3070, even tho I have bad experience with Gigabyte) The reason for 3070 and not something newer is price, 3070 looks like an upgrade to 5700xt and won't break the bank. I would still like some other opinions and recommendations on this subject, considering I'm not so much into this stuff, feel free to leave it in the comments Budget (including currency): ~700euro Country: Croatia/Germany from Amazon Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Any AAA game, LOL, Da Vinci Resolve Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hi! I recently upgraded my PC from a GTX 1060 to a RTX 3060 in order to get better FPS. Before switching cards I made a factory reset to wipe my files from the computer(storage was so full that it had an effect on performance). I redownloaded the newest versions of all drivers and slightly overclocked the processor to squeeze some more performance out of it. The issue is that the PC now is slower than what it was before. It stutters more and gives less FPS. I tried switching back to my old GPU to see if it was because of the new GPU being incompatible with my motherboard, but it is still slower than it was before the reset. I have tried most helpguides that I could find but nothing really helped. I would be very appreciative to any and all help with making my PC run as smooth as it used to. Hey, Today i managed to buy the new 4070ti to upgrade my 1070. I also thought i should buy some extra ram and bought another 16 gb extra of ram Wich are the exact same from the ones already installed. After installing the card and ram i noticed that i didn't have any video signal. I tested different cables like display and HDMI but no signal. I started to get annoyed and tried to put my old gpu back in. Still no signal after that i even took out all the ram and only put in the original 2 8 gigs. But still no signal. Is there anything that i should be testing next?

Hello Everyone So recently i have upgraded from a gtx 1060 6gb to a rtx 3060ti (got a sweet deal on it). I have done all the advanced steps such as clearing GPU drivers and installing fresh ones. Also made sure that the card is getting the required power since my power supply is only 550W rated. Checked everything with the card clock speeds/power and it was running up to spec. Unfortunately as soon as I opened Warzone 2 I was disappointed overall increase from the GTX 1060 6gb was about 20 to 10 fps in some areas. I swiftly made my way to the Nvidia control panel played with some setting and it didn't change a lot. Additionally I observed my systems behaviour in game. The card is topping at around 60-70 % (i play on low setting) meanwhile my CPU is hovering at 70 - 85 %. CPU temps were also looking good due to the upgraded cooler never above 70 C. So I began o get confused on how I only gained this little from a major upgrade. I also ran the gpu through a lot better optimised game Valorant and the improvement there was about 120-90 FPS whish is still kind of low for this kind of systems. So I ended up on the best forms I could find. I am just looking on some answers on why the performance is soo bad when i have watched benchmarks (i know that its not apples to apples comparison) but at least i should expect above 144fps on Warzone 2. Most probable answer is that there is a bottle neck somewhere in the system. But i have no idea which one. The CPU is running at high utilisation but its not maxing out. The power supply is delivering all the power needed to all the complements. When i think about it the most likley sus(pect) is the mother board which is still running the GPU in GDDR5 rather the 6 also it could be the memory only at 2400 or that the game is on a mechanical drive. I will Put my system below. Am Lost Plz Help Thank you very much Prox

Hello everyone. I recently bought a new XFX AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT THICC III Ultra and replaced my old r9 380 today. At first, there was no issue, Windows booted properly, I have checked the AMD software and device manager, and everything seemed in order. So, I started to play Witcher 3 to test it, FPS was normal (80-100) but there was stutter. After 3-5 minutes of playtime, the computer crashed to black screen and wouldn't boot after restart (it powers up but all I see is black screen, no BIOS or anything). I've tried to boot with my r9 380 to see if I mess something else but it runs just as fine before. I've tried factory reset with adrenaline software, installed the new GPU and booted again but the result was black screen. I have used DDU to completely remove the drivers in safe mode with my old r9 380 on, selected the option "clean and shutdown". After shutdown, I installed the 5600 xt and tried to boot, did not work again. Am I doing something wrong, or do I have a faulty GPU? no signal Loud fans and no signal after installing a new gpu
ZxcMbn posted a topic in Troubleshooting
I recently bought a new graphics card and installed it, updated the BIOS (to support it) and installed newest drivers. Everything seemed fine untill I started playing Witcher 3. I cranked the settings to ultra, created a new game and when it finished loading the graphics cards fans started spinning like crazy and the monitor said no signal My specs: OS: Windows 7 64 bit CPU: Intel core i7 2600 Old GPU: Asus geforce gtx 550ti New GPU: Msi geforce gtx 1060 3gt OC Mobo: Gugabyte GA-H61MA-D2V BIOS version: F9 (newest) Ram: 2x4gb PSU: 500W (I dont know the brand) It's a 5 year old pre-built Later I tried putting in my old GPU and the same thing happened. It only hapens when I start laying a game when I am on the desktop everything is fine. Maybe its because of the BIOS update. If that would be true than I think I won't be able to use my new GPU (My mobo has dual BIOS btw) I have never overclocked anything -
I recently got a new gpu (MSI gtx 1060 3gt) to replace my old Asus gtx 550 ti 1gb) andwhen I got it "working" (updated bios from F1 to F7a and installed the drivers) and launxhed a game (Witcher 3) when I clicked New game it started loading and when it loaded the monitor said no signal. I put the old card, installed ita drivers and the same thing! Then I uninstalled the drivers with DDU in safe mode and cleaned the registry with CCleaner, installed drivers again and the same thing. I checked other games - same thing and browsing internet aswell. I unfortunately didn't backup the old bios. I tested the memory with the windows tool and it seems fine. My other specs: OS: Windows 7 64 bit CPU: intel core i7 2600 PSU: 500W RAM: 2x4gb
