Hi there Linustech forums! I have an issue and would like to know what the cause of it is. I can narrow it down myself to a few things, but its still too much to be considered. I'd like to have some assistance with the process. I have many details and already know this post is too long, but I don't know how I can compress this any further. (sorry !) My problem: I sometimes find my desktop after being away from keyboard, to have a black screen, unresponsive to user input and that the fan's are spinning at 100% (not all, possibly just the GPU, maybe CPU too. Case fan's are not affected). Turning down the machine by short-pressing the power button on the desktops case does turn it down. A fresh boot right after will results in a black screen after loading and displaying the UEFI splash screen. Once this event is triggered, the same restart procedure as before gives the same result, meaning that it is stuck in black screen after UEFI splash screen. This also happens when i am not running any programs. (happens when i wake up and boot and come back after shower) Workaround: I hope this workaround gives some indicators as to what the problem may be. Extra details: Artifacts: Gaming artifacts: System Health I have latest drivers and my full-malware scan (Avast set as sensitive & scan all completely) came back clean. Most of my hardware is just under a year old. I take care of it both in software as in hardware. Overclocking: I think by default intel turbo is enabled and also memory-XMP profile is set. Besides that, I generally do not overclock. (I like my silent system haha) My specs: PSU: 650W CPU: i5-9600K GPU: MSI GeForce® RTX 2070 Super, 8GB, Gaming X RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB(2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 Boot device: Samsung 940 M2 NVMe MOBO: MSI Z370-A PRO BIOS: 2.B0 from 1/07/2020 (according to CPUZ) What i think: I think it could be my GPU that is dying. But it does not make sense to me that it is a hardware issue when i can still see things when I enter the UEFI. Besides, how would this work arround have such in impact that it either works or doesn't? it confuses the hell out of me. That's why i also think it could be software related. I hope it is related to a windows update or something I can still access my desktop with the workaround but it makes me feel unease about it all. i am looking forward to your insights! Nick J

Hey Guys ! I really hope you can help me since I cant find an answer whatsoever for my Problem. Specs: Xeon E3 1231V3 MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X (oced 2GHz) 16 GB HyperX Fury 1866 Mhz (oced to 2133MHz) 850W PSU 256GB Crucial SSD 2TB Seagate Windows 10 The Problem is a bottleneck that only occurs in GTA V and Battlefield 1, all other Games run perfectly at a 100% GPU Usage (V-Sync off), but These two dont. You may think that it is the CPU which bottlenecks the system, but even the first core is never fully loaded. I run all Games on 1080p on a 144Hz display. EDIT: I have already cleaned and updated the GPU Drivers with DDU !! So in GTA V and Battlefield 1 I cant reach the full potential of my System and hover around 50% and 90% of the GPU and 40 to 80% on the CPU ( both not overheating) and no other component is fully loaded. Is there another component I havent counted into that equation, or is there a solution I have overseen? I hope you can help me ....

Today when i was searching about processors, i came up with an Intel i3 8100h high performance series laptop processor on the intel website. Intel never officially revealed revealed this processor and they doesn't produce the i3 version for the Intel h processors series. Do anyone knows about this type of mysterious processor or not? If yes plz tell me in the replies. Hi guys, So i ordered the Edifier R2000DB from Massdrop and i finally received it. However it came with a power cord i have never seen. How am i supposed to love my new speakers without power.... Picture: Strange powercord Please help!

What case fan is this?

Hello guys, im new to the LinusTechTips Forum and i have been having a bunch of strange internet problems lately. It suddenly has gone from 10mbps to 2-4mbps. But the wierd part is when i reset my internet it goes back to 10mbps and stays for about 2 minutes. I will start up battlefield 4/Speed Tester and use them for about 2 minutes then my internet goes to crap. I have tried seeing if something on any computer in my household is using up all the bandwidth all of a sudden and none seem to be doing that. Besides that i dont know of anything else that could do effect my internet that much. I am a gamer and love to watch youtube videos/twitch streams while i game. I have been wondering if im being throttled by Century Link because i have used so much data.If so could this be a sign of being throttled? I could sure use some help and would love it if you helped out. Thanks- KruNight

Hello Everyone, My computer gave me a wonderful Christmas present by erasing all my programs (Program Files (86x) on one of my drives. And i cannot figure out why, how or what is doing it. The facts: Earlier today i noticed about half of my desktop icons were missing (mostly games), looked in program files to see half the folders were gone. Restore Point for yesterday: Negative, no help Scanned for viruses: Negative. Checked if they were hidden: Negative Installed and used recovery program: Found all the missing folders, files were corrupt though Started moving any non corrupt files back on the computer. Rebooted only to find the rest of my program files got wiped (everything except for two folders which are empty) All other files on this drive (E Drive) are unaffected and my C drive SSD, (holding all windows files, most used programs, etc) has also be unaffected Changes made today: Changed anti virus (although the first wipe was before i changed anti virus and the second wipe was after i uninstalled it because i thought it may have been the cause). Definitely the weirdest computer problem i have found. Any help offered would be awesome! Thanks in advance, Lachlan

So just this morning I discovered a large amount of files all starting with the letters awh and ending with .tmp in the middle is a random combonation of letters and numbers. an example of one of the files is awh2a79.tmp are these files anything to worry about as they are sitting in my c drive and im not sure when they got there. also could these files be connected to the amount of annoying pop ups and ads when im on the internet no matter what browser im using whether it be firefox or chrome or internet explorer. please help
