Hello. I have a problem with my pc. I'm pretty sure it boils down to memory though but that's all I could figure out. So.. The problem is when I play a game, like Diablo IV, I like to ''watch'' movies or tv-shows (streaming on firefox browser on my second monitor) which takes up about 2gigs of my memory out of 16gigs total (2x8GB DDR4 3000mhz). As soon as I open up my game, let's use Diablo IV in this case, Diablo lags like crazy, then it runs smooth, then huuuuge lag spikes etc etc. Diablo IV uses around 5,5gigs of memory. I went to task manager and added all the memory usage together and under load it uses around 8gigs. On my monitoring software (NZXT CAM and task manager as well) I can see it says I use 94% of my memory when Diablo IV is running and I'm streaming movies/tv-shows. And that's where I get confused because I have 16GB of memory so why it caps at 8GB only is weird to me. It's not only happening with Diablo but pretty much every game I play. Multitasking is almost impossible. ALT-TAB'ing takes forever, can't browse the internet unless I have 5 minutes each time I want to google something and go to a new page etc etc. I'm on Win11 Pro (64-bit) Windows and CPU-Z both detects 16gigs of memory. So does anyone have any idea what's happening? faulty memory stick or something else?

So when I play games I like to watch YouTube on a second monitor. However, when I do this, either YouTube loses frames (with GPU scheduling enabled) or my game is loses frames (with GPU scheduling disabled). I want to be able to game and watch videos at the same time with no performance loss. I currently have a 3070 ti. Could I pop a GTX 1050 Ti into my system solely for video decode?

Hello! I was wondering if it is possible to play in one screen while working on another display at the same time? I tried by putting the game in borderless mode but each time I open the browser in the other screen the game even thought it does not close it stops responding and it does not follow the game pad inputs until I click it in the taskbar again. So I was wondering if there is a way that I can play a game and play it while another person is working in the other screen without stoping the game? I have the two displays connected to the same gpu, one with a hdmi cable which is the TV and the other with a display port cable which is the monitor.

Hi! I’m looking to get a new graphics card for my PC, because my current Radeon RX 580 series is just not cutting it. It really struggles when I’m using OBS and Audition as well as running a game at the same time (understandably) but sometimes it literally makes my main monitor to black for a few seconds. (I do have two monitors too, a kinda weird combo. One Acer KG25IQ 24.5” and one HP2009m 21”ish lol) Attached is a list of my computer parts currently installed! Please let me know any recommendations you’d be willing to make, because I am pretty new to all this. Thank you, Twon82

What games do you guys play when you wanna watch something but you don't wanna JUST watch something? lol sounds weird I know but I know someone gets it. You throw on some youtube maybe the latest LTT video, you slap it on the aux monitor and load up.... what game? For me, I often go with something along the lines of Terraria or PCBuilding Simulator maybe some World of Warcraft casual questing. Occasionally some Starcraft 2 if its something I can just listen to (though that game eats up most of my focus more often than not). How about you guys? What's your muscle memory "gaming while watching" go to's?

Budget (including currency): £1000 - £1400 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, InDesign) My workflow usually requires me to have 2-3 of these programs at the same time switching between. Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qbr4PX Here is what I've managed to come up with so far but I'm open to advice on how to optimise my build. As mentioned I'll be doing a lot of multitasking which is why I've gone for 32GB of ram and a decently powerful (I think) CPU. Graphic Design programs are mostly CPU heavy and the GPU doesn't really do much beyond rendering my workspace while my CPU does the actually processing. As far as gaming goes I don't play often and I've never minded not being on the highest quality settings so I feel that I can cheap out on the GPU here. I don't think I want to mess with water cooling but I still want to keep my PC cool, I'm not sure if the cooler I have chosen is the best idea for my price range. Also I know this is an annoying ask but I want to keep it themed to all black with no/minimal RGB I would ideally want 64GB of ram but that can come later down the line. In terms of displays such, I have a 60hz 4k 32in monitor and a 24in 1080p secondary. I'm looking to buy this once I leave my job at the end of the year. TIA

Specs Below. I usually play league with streams in the background, music, movies, whatever. I've always comfortably multi-tasked with my PC. No problem, specially with league. Lately (Even after a full OS reinstall & Driver reinstall) I cannot have anything open behind my game or ill start to drop frames during fights. Ill Usually have Mobalytics behind the game (game overlay stuff) and now I cant even have that. Any idea what's going on.?

Answer: no reasoning: the App Store has about 6 or 8 split window browsing apps. One of the most popular is Split by Savy soda. The issue is that you have to go back and forth typing new searches. Ideally the app would mirror the first search to get both windows to the first google page, then un-mirror allowing the user to tap through multiple links without pressing the back button which wastes loading time. Then re-mirror and un-mirror. Maybe with some ai or something. A solution to the "back load time" is another app which promises zero latency back presses. That app is called "fastback." But there is no practical purpose for split windows. Searching time actually goes down going back and forth. For background music there are other apps that play in the background. You do not need to sacrifice half your screen to play music.

I've watched many of the LTT videos, and as much as I enjoy watching the videos about gaming computers (I still don't understand threads, or cores or anything), I haven't seen a video about how to build a computer for regular everyday business activities for people such as myself (Especially with a lot of people that are having to work from home now). The only thing I know about computers is that they turn on and magic happens. I'm not a gamer, just a project manager. 98% of my day is excel, and I have found that I am going to need 4 monitors (I'm currently using 3). The spreadsheet that I formatted uses 3 separate excel files. With that being said, I need some advice on what I should look for in a computer. I'm replacing my laptop and docking station for a desktop. I do have one in mind, but I'm always welcome to opinions and advice from people who know a lot more than me about computers and tech. Many thanks in advance.

I am considering building a computer for work. I've never built one before, and I'm excited to do it. I am looking for any help, advice, suggestions or anything. Since computers aren't exactly my forte, I am here seeking advice and suggestions! What I do: I am basically a project manager at this point. I am working to open a music venue, and I live out of excel documents. The current excel monster that I formatted uses 3 separate files to do all of my calculations. At full load, I have between 5 & 7 documents open, youtube streaming, and another internet window for research. To be fully productive, I will need to have 4 monitors (5 would actually be nice, but I can utilize my laptop for the fifth), and a system that will be able to keep up with my daily workload (I put in about 10 - 15 hours a day average). I am trying to keep this to the lowest amount possible, but I also want to be able to upgrade the system later on if I need to. Stay safe, and thanks in advance.

Hello guys, I'll keep this one short. I bought a 6600K thinking I'd use my PC in a way a 6700K wouldn't have been beneficial for me (gaming and light multitasking). And the exact opposite has happened: I'm streaming a lot of content to a chromecast and it uses around 30% CPU already, then I can't play because I get so much stutters that I miss out on a second of gameplay at times. I've also started making videos for myself and rendering is okay to be honest but what's really bothering me is that I was planning to buy a 1070 but my current 970 is already maxing my CPU out in BF1.. Will I need a 6700K? Won't the 1070 be held back too much? Thanks for answers

Hey! i am building a new pc, which i intend to use mostly for gaming + multitasking (ie, youtube, vlc, chrome, music, visual studio, while playing games.) i also want to be able to stream at 720p 30 fps while i game at atleast 60 fps. and when i game+ multitask i wana push as many frames possibly 144hz at least. Monitor 1 monitor 2 (main screen) monitor 3 BenQ 60Hz AoC G2460PF 144hz AoC G2460PF 144hz all runing at 1920x1080p these screens are from my old pc and i will reuse them. i also have a 1080TI which i will use and i might use a gtx 970 or a gtx 760TI for one of my off screens ( monitor 1 or 3) Now to the hard choice i need a cpu that can keep up with me the 1080TI, streaming at 720p 30fps and the higher frame rates i want when gaming while not streaming. I want to try streaming, and if i think it is fun then maybe i get a second Pc with capture card for streaming purpouses. i am thinking of an i7 7700k kaby lake or a i7 6800k or 6850k or zen 1800x but i don't know if the 6800 and the 6850 is just the same processor at diffrent out of the box clockspeeds or what. is the i7 7700 the best option for frame pushing and will it be able to stream at 30fps while gameing at 60fps+ and will it give me 144fps while gaming and watching youtube/vlc + using chrome VS and other programs. baring in mind that i have 3 monitors not just one or should i go with more cores on my cpu to handle the loads ?

So what I'm trying to do is be able to play my switch/ps4 games while being 100% able to click out and go do other things on my PC if I need to with out switching inputs. Is this possible for relatively cheap with low latency? I realize id need an HDMI switch for the two inputs so I'm really just looking for a capture card that doesn't require me to capture the input, basically stream it to my PC.

Hello everyone, so i heard league of legends only uses two cores being 0 and 1. So as to my question, assuming you only have a DUAL CORE chip the operating system would be forced to use the same cores as league right? But if the chip had hyperthreading, would the OS just sit on threads 2-3 and the game on 0-1? Also if you have a quad core chip, would the os be running on the other cores or the same? Cause if the cores dont matter cause i dont multitask then i may aswell just get the 7350k once the price drops a fck ton cause the new lineup. 2 super fast cores is what i need. Sorry for the poor english LINUS is rubbing off on me ;). Looking forward to the responses. Stay frosty

I'm saving up money for building a new PC within 3 months and I'm having issues deciding between Ryzen 5 1600(Non-X) and Ryzen 7 1700(Non-X). Buying Ryzen 5 will let me buy the PC 1 month earlier. I'm aiming for a PC in which I can game for about 5 years by only having to swap in a new GPU about 2 times. I'm mainly going to game but I prefer having a tab of facebook open in chrome and not closing any background apps like IDM, f.lux or even keep extractions/scans or similar stuff in the background occasionally. Will the Ryzen 7 be worth the 1 month wait? PS : If anyone wonders why that much of a money will set me back a whooping 1 month, I'm a teenager who's saving money ._.

Hi So basically I want to be able to watch a twitch stream whilst playing cs:go without having such a dramatic fps drop, i use a 144hz monitor so need to be realistically playing at around 165fps constantly. I will get around 220-230 when just playing cs and using discord. However when I want to watch a twitch stream or youtube video while playing a game by fps drops completely. I currently have a: i5 4690 8gb ddr3 ram Zotac amp 4gb gtx 960 and I was wondering which of these would need to be upgraded in order to gain the performance I need. Thanks

I am planning on building a small home server for maximum user logged in no more than 10. It runs a VPN server all the time, a surveillance machine that has one camera connected and recording at 1080P 24/7; it is also a NAS server that periodically backs up my laptop and allows me to access the files through internet at anytime; Finally, it is a Plex server that supports me to stream 1080P movies through the internet. I am thinking running the Plex server and VPN server in virtual machines. For this build, I am considering a i5 7500 and i7 7700. Can anyone help me pick one or if you have a better choice? This is a budget build and I am using LGA1151 socket motherboard and Be Quiet Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler. The link to the part list is: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JjG3JV Thank you guys.
