I'm wanting to run four 4k monitors. One monitor at 144+ Hz. Three monitors at 60Hz. This is the screen configuration. I will be doing it from either a 4070-Ti, or a 4080. My questions are: Is this possible? Nvidia say you can run 4 independent 4k displays at 120Hz, and that other display configurations may be possible based on available band-width. I've heard that running multiple monitors at different refresh rates can hurt performance, is this true? Is the impact significant? How can I best achieve this 4 monitor layout to optimize for performance? Thank you

As the title mentions, I am randomly getting screen blackouts that last between 1-3 seconds. From what I can tell, it doesn't just go black but completely turns off. But it isn't like the typical power outage or cable diconnection where it shows something like "Displayport" or "HDMI" as an overlay on the monitor itself. It just goes black and then comes back. I've tried swapping out cables, making sure the monitors aren't set to ECO mode, and I've also tried different ports on my 3080. I am on a brand new build, except for my GPU, which I am using from my previous build. The only strange thing is, out of the three monitors I'm using, only two monitors have this consistent issue. All three monitors are from ASUS: PG279Q (connected via HDMI running at 60Hz) PG32UQ (connected via HDMI running at 120Hz) PG27AQDM (connected via DisplayPort running at 240Hz) The only monitor not experiencing this issue is my nearly 7-year old PG279Q which can natively run at 144Hz (OC 165Hz) but since I'm only connected via HDMI 1.0, I only have it at 60Hz right now as a third monitor. I'm not sure, but could the higher refresh rate of the two other monitors be causing the blackouts? This issue never happened until about a month ago, and I have reason to believe it was a driver update that might have caused it. Other specs: CPU: Ryzen 7800X3D GPU: RTX 3080 (GeForce 536.99 WHQL driver. Latest from Aug 8, 2023) Ram: 32GB PSU: Corsair Shift 850W Any advice regarding this issue would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Hello, I have a Galax RTX 2060, and i am planning to use 3 or maybe 4 monitor, but i am still having doubts (reasons will be stated in the footnote). I am currently using 2 Monitors, One is the primary with 1080p 75Hz (MSI Optix G241VC) (DisplayPort) and the other is a Drawing Monitor Tablet (Huion Kamvas Pro 13) (HDMI), planning to buy another one for more working multitasking but here are some of my questions: How do i connect the third monitor? Should i just connect it to the DVI? What if the Monitor i buy only have HDMI and VGA port, use converter is that possible and not a problem? Different refresh rate, a problem or not? (My two monitors having different Rate of 75/60 now but just to confirm) What if i want to add another monitor (4 Monitors)? What device/splitter should i use? Thank you. Footnotes: My knowledge about these aren't that much, i've been searching and still doesn't find a good and exact answer to my problems and i don't have lots of money to spare so this is a one time chance to buy.

Custom PC for Gaming and Rendering in multiple rooms
Clare posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
Budget : unlimited Country: USA I want to build a custom PC to run in three different rooms in my house on three different floors of the house. I will have in total 7 different monitors from tv, projectors, VR headset and regular pc monitors. They will range from 1080p 60fps to 4k. I'm not sure what I need to expand the number of monitors allowed on a single rig. Is this only dependent on the number of GPU or do I need something else. If anyone has a better solution I'm all ears. Please and Thank you -
Hello good people, your collective advice recently helped me massively upgrade my PC, for which I'm eternally grateful. But the issue I'm facing now has to do with the double-edged sword of working from home. I'm a technical artist/graphic designer, and as part of my newly-permanent work-from-home position, my employer sent me home with a Dell workstation, along with the expectedly crappy Dell monitor, cheapie keyboard, mouse and headset. Like every other designer on my team, I immediately ditched their peripherals in favor of using my own existing setup (how does anyone get anything done without at least dual monitors??) But the 2x daily (at least) ordeal of crawling around under my desk to reroute all the cables (my personal PC sits on my desk in a place of pride, my work PC sits underneath in a place of shame) is really starting to get to me. I can't have nice things like cable management of any kind, or dustbunny-free hair. I know I need a KVM switch, but the one I was provided when I brought the issue up with IT was a cheap no-brand plastic one that stopped working within 2 weeks (started causing massive lag and erroneous keystrokes, doubling, sticking, etc.) and I'm now a bit hesitant -- I want to guarantee I won't run into those same issues again. I'm providing a little diagram of what I've got going on in terms of peripherals, with two caveats: 1.) My current monitor setup isn't permanent. I have two Asus VS24As, 1920x1200, and they've done the job for a long time but I'd like both better resolution and color accuracy going forward, and would ideally like the KVM to support up to 4K to accommodate that likely upgrade soon. (Home PC has 2x HDMI and 2X DisplayPort out, work PC just has 4x Mini DisplayPort out so I'm currently using adapters to HDMI) 2.) I know a nice metal housing =/= quality internals necessarily, but ideally I'd like the KVM to have some weight to it so it can sit nicely on the desk without the bend of all the cables going into it moving it around. The old plastic one was constantly sliding around and falling behind the desk. Any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated!

TL;DR PC freezes with green dots all over the screen when I use single monitor setup but it works absolutely fine when 2 monitors are connected and turned on Hello, so I got a very weird problem with my GPU Here's a link with my PC specs and build: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/mircato/saved/#view=XZHKqs I bought the GPU like 3 months ago, it's a 3080 gigabyte vision 10G rev 2.0 It all started when I unplugged my second monitor power cable while the PC was on and now the PC won't run on a single monitor. Initially it would show green dots, and flicker but continue to be usable but now it will just freeze the entire PC forcing me to reboot it but now it immediately shows green dots and freeze after 5-15 seconds after I boot the PC with only one monitor I could install and uninstall GPU drivers normally before, but now it goes blank when it flickers during installation or uninstallation, I found a workaround to install the drivers but that's not the issue Here's what I tried so far: 1- removed one new memory kit I added recently 2- removed all extra SSDs and HDDs 3- Reinstalled OS 4- Tried Linux because I thought it might be a windows only issue 5- Tried another GPU on the PC and it worked flawlessly without any issues on one monitor 6- Tried safe mode and it works normally on one monitor 7- Did reset all MB bios settings 8- tried undervolting and underclocking using MSI afterburner 9- tried another monitor 10- tried another DP cable then tried an HDMI cable 11- Tried booting into an OS installed on another SSD 12- Tried different 8 pin cables that came with my PSU 13- Tried a different PCIE-4 slot 14- Tried other electricity sources with and without power strips 15- Unplugged all electric devices in my house except for the case and the monitor to make sure it's not an electricity problem 15- Tried new and old GPU drivers and nothing worked so far When the 2 monitors are connected PC works just fine without any issues, Furmark benchmarks are great! and i never faced issues playing my games at highest possible settings at 1440P like Apex Legends, Valorant, ESO, and CS:GO Some friends recommended RMA'ing it but it would be somewhat difficult because I bought it internationally from Amazon Spain but I live in Africa and that would cost me much to send it for maintenance so i was hoping to find a fix or a way to know for sure that the GPU is faulty before taking any further actions

Hello, I am currently running a RTX 3080 (MSI VENTUS 12GB) and was wondering what my best option is for running another video card allowing me to run more monitors. I currently have 3 monitors and a Valve Index plugged into the 3080 but want more monitors hooked up. My CPU is a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, so no onboard video there. I tried an ASUS GT 730 (GT730-4H-SL-2GD5) but have had zero luck getting it to work along with the RTX 3080. The drivers do not want to play nice together and I can't have both video cards active together at the same time. I tried troubleshooting the best I can but am just going to return the card to Amazon as this shouldn't be so difficult. What is my cheapest and simplest plug and play option? Would prefer PCIe x1 slot, all HDMI similar to the GT 730 linked and under $100. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello, the issue I am having is: when I plug in my 4th monitor my 1st monitor no longer gets video feed to it. as soon as I unplug the 4th monitor video feed returns to the 1st one. I am unsure of what is causing this, I have a GTX 1080 which should support 4 monitors. I tried installing an extra graphics card and plug the display cable for the 4th monitor into that one but the issue persisted. my OS is windows 10 home here are my monitor specs incase that helps: monitor 1: 1920x1080 144hz monitor 2: 2560x1440 60hz monitor 3: 1600x900 60hz monitor 4: 1440x900 60hz

Hello, I'm new here. I ran across the Linus Community and am impressed!! I ran across Linus searching for some rackmount build options. I want to build a great home server. Business minded. 1. Budget / Location: TN USA $2500-$3000 ( If anyone thinks I can get out cheaper GREAT) 2. Aim: To knock out 2 birds with one stone. I'm in need of an upgrade. Wife is in need of an upgrade. - I am actively trading markets.. ALL I DO IS STREAM market data... I run 3 programs.. Period (don't laugh) * I run one automated program * There is a lot here as far as streaming live data. But no extreme backup / storage desires. -She is a recording artist.. She records on MAC and Edits on Windows.. I want her to be able to transfer data FAST without compromise.. And Archive all recordings. -We both have lite extra business we use these for as well. Since Storage is so cheap now... I would love to have an archive system for her to save ALL of her recordings in a easy manner. 3. Monitors: I need 2 on my desk (nothing insane no 4k) I would like her to have 1/2 on hers. ** Ideally -- She and I could share a Trading workspace ( I have 2 monitors Downstairs in my office) She have 1 that we both could be in simultaneously. *** Then she have her own independent "recording workspace monitors" 1/2 (probably just 1) I hoping by me going over the above.. you kinda get what I'm going for... I want POWER and a "Workspace" environment for the both of us to share in a sense and do business in. I'm sure this is a subpar topic but am new to the whole concept of home server style setup. I just want to knock this thing out of the park and do it right the first time. Thank You so much in advance.. Matt

Hello, planning to buy Asus GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Dual Series http://pcpartpicker.com/product/fPFXsY/asus-geforce-gtx-1070-8gb-dual-video-card-dual-gtx1070-o8g. It has two HDMI outputs, I would like to connect one to my 1080p monitor and one two my 4K TV. Light 4K gaming on my TV (FIFA, Mortal Kombat, NBA and other family fun ) and casual 1080p gaming on PC itself. Will this work properly? I can only use HDMI, because it's only available inputs on my monitor and TV. Thank you for your help

Hi. I'm wondering whether I should get an MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X or an MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X in different scenarios. I'm getting the Intel Core i7-6700K processor. I plan to mainly play games off of Steam and not insane games like Crysis 3. However, I also do plan on video editing if that matters, even if video editing is more based around the CPU. Here are the different scenarios: Double monitor setup at 1440p Triple monitor setup at 1440p. Also a few other questions: Is the Gaming Z series worth the extra money over the Gaming X series when it comes to MSI's GeForce GTX lineups? When will SLI help me? Will I need SLI if I have multiple 4K monitors? Thanks.

Hi everybody, I'm looking for some help to build a work PC that I can have at a second office. 1. Budget & Location I want to keep it as low as possible. I'm in Miami, FL. so mainly I been looking in amazon (with LTT bookmark) and newegg for price and parts. 2. Aim Most of the use of this computer will be browsing the web, and uploading pictures to my job's website (I'm a boat/rv broker). I take pictures of the boats I visit during the day on my phone, and upload them to the computer, and the to the website. I also do some BTC trading. I need something capable of handling around 20 tabs open on chrome, SLACK, and Outlook open at the same time. 3. Monitors My plan is to use the monitor I have at home a ASUS VG278HE (144hz) and an old 32 inch tv (hdmi) as monitors. I plan to buying another ASUS VG27 or similar in the near future. I plan to drive them with an old GTX 780 (not Ti) which currently sits in my home PC. 4. Peripherals I will be using windows on this PC. my plan is getting an SSD to boot system and a mechanical drive for storage, something around 1 TB (boat/rv pictures). Planing on buying cheapest mouse and keyboard combo available. And for now, I will be using the monitor speakers. The reason I'm not moving my home PC overthere is because I want to keep a good computer home and just build a cheaper one. Hopefully, if everything goes well I can upgrade my home PC because it has been a while, that would be for an other project thou. My home PC as a i7-4960X water cooled, 64 GB RAM @2133 MHz, 2 SSD (500GB boot, 1TB games) and 1 HD (2TB photos, music, etc), and 2 GTX 780. My plan was buying a new board, CPU, storage, and case. And, use one of the GTX 780 for this system, and a Rosewill 1300W 80plus gold that I have from a miner I used to have. I was thinking going with a past generation i5, something around 32 GB of ram, and a regular motherboard that will make it all work. I need some help with actually pairing the sockets to the correct i5, they are kind of tricky (1150, 1151, 1156) not sure which one is the one I should be using. Any help, idea or comment is greatly appreciated.

Hello all. First post here. I have only ever heard that if you are running a "ti" nividia card (I'm about to get a 1080ti), you cannot run any other video cards. What I would like to do for my upcoming build is run that 1080ti for my main monitor, and run a 1050 for my second and third monitors (one will be vertical). Is this possible? What I know tells me that I can run the two cards in SLI, and I don't plan to anyways. But I'd really prefer to let my 1080ti just handle my games. Here is my proposed build, minus the 1050: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/W9NgM8 It's time for a new build for me cause my current build is about to turn 6 years old. Building to last. If I can't run the 1050, I'll just run with two monitors, but I'd really like that third monitor. Thanks for reading.

Ok, I really need some help. I just bought an MSI GTX 1080 Founders Edition from Amazon and I have spent the past 2 days trying to get it to work. I got it installed and all the drivers installed without issue, but as soon as I rebooted the computer and hooked up my three monitors(1 HDMI Ultrawide, and 2 16:9 DVI one of which is running through a display-port adapter), all to the the 1080s IO. Windows became unusabley laggy. I had to pull all the monitors restart and plug into the motherboard's HDMI to get it back up. Since then it's been a whirlwind of unistalling and reinstalling drivers, testing, my computer refusing to output anything on the 1080. Finally when I was able to get windows semi-stable enough to use with the 2 16:9s plugged into the card(don't ask me how I don't know and was never able to replicate it), and I launched Premier Pro to test it out and this happened on both screens. I really need to get this fixed as my computer is essentially out of commission right now. What is going on? I have exhausted my knowledge of PC configuration, so I turn to you the LTT forms for help. PC config: Intel i7-3770K ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Gen3 16GB Old Graphics Card: Original GTX Titan 1x SanDisk 256GB SSD, 2x 1TB HDD Windows10

Ive recently purchased a 4kTV which Ive plugged into my 2080ti along with two other 1080p monitors. When the TV is on everything is fine, apps scale properly when dragged onto the screen and games run well... BUT When im gaming on one of the two 1080p screens and the TV is either off or disconnected through Windows display settings, its constantly connecting momentarily and then disconnecting making windows chime that fucking USB connect/disconnect noise and stuttering my other two screens. The only way Ive found to stop this is to just unplug the HDMI cable when Im not using the TV which sucks or keep the TV on while Im using the other screens which I dont want to do for burn in reasons... and I just dont want to have the TV on a static image for hours on end. Any ideas? Should I just keep unplugging the shit every time I wanna game on the 1080p screens without random interruptions or should I take all of this garbage and shove it directly up my ass? Thank you.

Hi everyone, As seen in the photo, I have four monitors connected to my PC but across two different desks. I come asking today if there is a way to group the monitors to turn one set of monitors off (eg the desk on the left) and keep the ones on the other desk (eg the right desk) on. For reference, I have a 980ti so I am open to suggests that use the nVidia control panel. Thanks :)

Hi everyone, I work from home and am provided with a work laptop, a laptop docking station (laptop connects to it via USB-C), and 2 external monitors. I will be upgrading my home PC soon and will be purchasing a 1440p ultra wide monitor to use with it. All 3 monitors would be used at the same time (all for work or all for personal use). I'm looking for a way to switch between laptop and PC input to the 3 monitors, while using 1 keyboard and 1 mouse to control whichever is the active input. Is there a KVM switch or a video splitter (or some combination of both) that is capable of this?

I want to build a setup with 4 monitors that can be used (in a 2x2 arrangement) as one big screen for watching movies and whatnot, but then separated into 4 separate systems to game on with four keyboard/mouse setups. I was thinking of using four separate PCs, but I am open to using one and setting up virtual machines. All four screens will be 4k, so what graphics card/s would I need to run the system on one PC? Additionally, what software is there for setting up virtual machines (preferably free/one time payment, no subscriptions).

My question is, can these two different cards run at the same time in this system? I’m not particularly interested in SLI or crossfire since either card has plenty of memory in addition to my system memory. I would just like to have the option of configuring NVIDIA surround Physx to blend the image across the three screens if I want to at some point.

Hi, I've recently gotten a RTX 2060 6GB with i5-9600K and 16GB of RAM. I currently have two monitors connected, both 1080p, running at 144Hz and 75Hz, I've been wondering if I would be able to add another 1440p 144Hz monitor to the mix? I'll be using the 1440p one as the main gaming monitors with the 1080p monitors for web browsing, streaming, etc. Could I just use HDMI for the 75Hz monitor (as 2060 has only two display ports)?

Hey Guys! I have a RTX2060 running in a 2700x, X470 MoBo, 64 GB RAM, and a 3 monitor setup. The Middle monitor is a LG 32GK650F-B 32" QHD 144 Hz Gaming Monitor( For main work and mostly Gaming) The 2 side monitors are both Viewsonic. All 3 monitors are connected using DP connections to the RTX 2060 Middle Monitor is also my Main Display in Display settings. This is the issue: When I lock my PC and come back after sometime ( The monitors have gone to sleep) tap the space bar to wake up the PC, the login screen appears on the Left monitor for about 2 sec, then it moves back to the middle monitor( My main monitor). Also when I log back in, any open windows I left when I locked the machine, are all on the Left monitor. I cant seem to be able to figure out how do I get everything to stay on the Middle (main) monitor. I have swapped out the monitor cables on the GPU and make the middle monitor connect to a different DP, but this behavior does not stop... Any idea's as to what is the deal and how can I fix this?
