Hello, I have XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 7800 XT and I want to set up for 5 displays. I know it has only 4 output so I both also this splitter: https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0CD7PDLXC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8 And I think spliter works because I cant get 2 display to wouk out of this spliter, but all in all together I cant and cant set up 5 displays, however I conect I always get max 4 displays. Is it even possible to have 5 displays on XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 7800 XT? I know under AMD it says 4 displays max, but i thought that is only reference to that it only has 4 outputs. I don't really want 2 GPU, just more chance of 1 going bad over time. All display is 4k 2x 144hz, 3x 60hz, that should be a problem for the GPU tho right? Can't really find good answer for the online, all other talk about not using all 5 together and using iGPU, that i don't have. The 3th on the photo isn't really working (I also tried switching monitor/cables. Tnx in advance for all help. My PC: AMD 5950x (so no iGPU) Motherboard ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING GPU XFX Speedster MERC319 RX 7800 XT Ram 32gb

I have a strange bug where in Windows if I plug in a TV 2/3 of my monitors lose input and go black this is even true when the TV is turned off. I do not have this issue on Linux where all four of them have correct outputs. Have 3 monitors Two 2k 170Hz, One 1080p 60Hz and the 4k 120Hz TV At my wits end on how to fix this. Tried DDU, reinstalling drivers etc... I should add. I don't care about the displays being disabled when using the TV. (Since I typically turn off the monitors) the big issue is that it messes up my monitors even when the TV is off
-
Hello everyone, The issue itself it not lengthy but I'll try to explain it in detail (with images and everything I've tried) so maybe you can identify the root problem more easily. System Configuration: I'm using an dual monitor setup where I have a external Dell monitor connected through HDMI to my Dell Latitude E5470. I recently installed ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS alongside windows 11 (using dual boot) and am using it for development purposes. What caused the issue? A few days back, while messing with display settings on ubuntu i accidentally disabled the built in laptop display using the button on top right of display settings. At the moment I thought I would just be able to turn it back on whenever so I didn't care much since I was mainly using the external display anyway. But then sometime later, an ubuntu firmware update happened. And after that when I tried to enable the built in display from the display settings from the external display, it just wasn't there. The display settings showed up like there was only one display attached (See the image below) One thing to note about this image is that, the system does realize that this is second monitor, indicated by the number 2 on the top left corner, it just doesn't detect the built in display for some reason. Things I've tried to resolve it but failed: 1. On ubuntu, I disconnected the HDMI cable, since doing so normally auto switches to the builtin display, it did switch instantly but the laptop kept going to sleep (a.k.a suspended in ubuntu) just after a few seconds and I'd have to manually press the power button to wake it up and login again. 2. I tried opening display setting within the few seconds period I would get on built in display but that would freeze ubuntu and immediately go to sleep again. 3. I tried opening the display settings on external display and then unplugging the cable, so the built in display would be forced to display the display settings but the display settings page would just show one Night Light option (see image below) 4. I thought the issue could just be ubuntu related, so i restarted the system to boot into windows, and disconnected the HDMI cable so that it show everything on the built in screen. And everything appeared normal till windows loading screen, but after that the screen went blank, even though I could hear the windows startup sound. I then plugged the hdmi cable back and the lock screen appeared on external display. So i opened the display settings on windows on external display, but it also showed the settings as if there was just one monitor attached. (See the image below) I can't check what the display settings look like for built in display on windows because as soon as I unplug the HDMI cable on windows, instead of showing everything on the laptop's built in screen, it just continues to display a blank laptop screen. Few other technical things I've tried: 1. Tried to reset display settings on ubuntu using command line -- didn't work. 2. Tried reinstalling display drivers on windows -- didn't work. 3. Even tried reinstalling ubuntu but that didn't solve the problem either. And one particular thing to note about the re-installation was that even during the ubuntu installation from my usb stick, if i had the hdmi cable unplugged the built in display would keep going to sleep after every few seconds and i'd have to either constantly manually wake it up by pressing the power button of just attach the external display in which case it would switch to it and won't cause any issues. 4. Thought the issue must be bios related at this point since it is OS-independent, so reset the whole BIOS, but that didn't work either. If anyone can help me revive my laptop screen, I'd be super grateful since my laptop is just 'windows mini' (derived from mac mini) at this point. # EDIT 1: Please note that, I CAN work with BIOS on my builtin laptop screen as long as I want and that doesn't cause any issues. In bios settings, everything seems normal with the built in laptop screen.

Hey, I recently installed Kali Linux with Windows 10 on dual boot. I have 3 monitors and 2 of them run on a 1650 Super and the other one runs on Vega 8 in the CPU. I use force IGD to make the integrated GPU to power a display. I left the settings same on Kali but only the integrated GPU is running and the other 2 display's are not showing up in the settings on Kali. Thanks.

So I've been stuck at work since 10 this morning(currently 6pm) and I've been trying to solve an issue with our new tv walls. We bought 3 VisonTek Radeon hd 7750 eye 6 graphics cards and put them into 3 separate prebuilds. I updated the drivers to the newest version that i could find for the cards but I'm running into some problems. The computer will only display to 2 monitors at a time despite having 6 ports and advertising that it can do 6 at a time which is what we need. We're running HDMI fiber cables to the pc and using an hdmi to mini DP to connect it to the card. The cables are fine as they actually produce a signal if it's one of the 2 plugged in. All the ports on the card work. The computer shows that more displays are connected but it doesn't automatically display to them nor does it let me change any settings for that display. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

Hi guys, my new PC's search bar next to the windows icon is always showing on the wrong screen when I start the PC. I have tried unlocking the taskbar and moving the search taskbar to the correct screen then restarting etc, to no avail. I've also tried setting the primary display multiple times and on different screens yet nothing changes. It's really annoying that it won't stay on my primary display. I have tried googling this issue multiple times but from what I've found people just seem to say "just unlock the taskbar and move it to the correct display and lock it again" which of course I do every time it starts up but it doesn't remember to stay there. I am using a 4K screen as my primary screen with two 1080p screens stacked on top of each other to the right of the primary on extend desktop mode (see image) Any idea's you guys have would be really helpful! I've attached a picture of the desktop when I start the PC up, the search bar should be on the primary screen (bottom left) not on the third screen (top right) Windows version: 10.0.19042 Build 19042 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 MOBO: Asus ROG x570-f gaming RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 3200 GPU: Asus Strix 3070Ti PSU: Corsair RM1000X

Hey! So I am just getting a new job (virtual) and I am looking for a clean solution to being able to have both a personal and work desktop hooked up to my 2 monitors and peripherals. I would like the ability to use the same mouse/keyboard for both computers as well as flip flop monitors between each desktop (whether that be one for each and both for one machine). I have found a bunch of KVM Switches that can do this I would leave me with the issue of needed a switch for each display and then a switch for my peripherals to go between them. I don't have a great way of explain this so Ill drop what I am hoping to do below: Warning: I am a horrible at paint but I hope this explains the idea. I am aware this is a stream deck but I was hoping to find or build something that could look similar to it. Thank you all for the help!

I have three monitors, one 1440p 165Hz display and two 1200p 60Hz displays, for my up to date (2020-10 cumulative update for Windows 10 2004) Windows 10 PC on a RX 580. When the two 60 Hz displays are off, the 165 Hz display works at 165 Hz, 144 Hz, and so on. However, once I turn on either of the two 60 Hz displays on, it forces that refresh rate on the faster display. Turn off the 60 Hz displays, and the 165 Hz display goes back to whatever it was initially set at. I've also tried 120 Hz to see if doubling the refresh rate of the slower monitors did anything and it did not. From what I've read about the Windows 10 update I have installed, this should not be happening - my understanding is that the displays will stay at their set refresh rates provided the hardware is capable of it and I have confirmed that they are both with the display settings given in Windows 10 and with the graphics card software. Does anyone have any idea why this is the case and if so, how to fix it? In the event that I find a post online about an issue like this, I see that other people are experiencing this issue and others are not at all.

Thank you in advance for any help. In a magic wand world I'd like a Matrix Switch that has two HDMI in and 4 Outputs but have not found anything that works. I have 3 Tv's (2 - 4k @ 60hz and 1 - 4k @240 hz ) and One Monitor (with Display port for Computer and HDMI for Console also 144hz) and a XBOX One and a PS5. I want to be able to have the xbox or ps5 work on any of the TV's and connect to my computer Monitor. I have yet to find a good solution for 120hz and wanted to see if anyone else has tried to do the same or something similar. If I have to settle for 60hz it is what it is but I think it's possible. I've read that Switches can be daisy chainged but have not had any experience with it. If that is the case I've created a diagram to show what i've come up with. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks!

Hey guys and gals, quick question. I have a ThinkPad X1 Yoga that I normally plug into dock using a Type-C. The dock has two display port out which were sent to two pretty stand 24" HP monitors. I would normally work with my laptop open giving three usable displays. I'm building a gaming rig and ordered a 32" AOC monitor (1440p/144hz). While waiting on my parts to arrive I thought I would integrate into my desk set up. I currently have the AOC connected to the dock via a display cable, one HP monitor connected directly to the laptop via HDMI, and the other HP monitor connected to the dock via HMDI to Display Port adapter. All displays are working, but here's the issue. One of the HP monitors is at a low resolution and the option to change it does not exist in the display settings with a max resolution of 1280 X 800 when previously both HP monitors ran at 1080X1920. Any thoughts? Also, if I open my laptop now the display does not turn on. Have i maxed out the capabilities of the GPU for this laptop? All in all it's not a big deal and I see it as a learning experience. I plan to run the same three monitor set-up when I get my rig built this weekend. I appreciate any help you can give.

I am having a fairly major issue with my PC that only started this last Monday… It would be easier for you to look at my profile for the specs than for me to write them all in here. Basically, whenever I turn my computer on, it posts then shows the windows logo with the loading icon, then once that is done, it just stops. The display goes black and stays that way. It sounds to me as if the computer then tries to restart, going by the noise it makes. If I then unplug all but one monitor and wait a while, it recovers, displays the login screen and allows me to continue. The strange thing is that if I only plug one monitor in, doesn’t matter which one, it starts perfectly fine when I first turn it on, shows me the login screen and allows me to use it normally. Now the super strange bit… Once logged in and fully ready to use, if I then plug another monitor in, it accepts it and adapts windows to suit. Then, I can plug the third one in, no trouble and all three work at the same time as if nothing was wrong! However, if I plug them in before it is finished booting or too quickly after each other, they all freeze, go black and the whole thing just halts. It’s odd because if I then unplug all but one again, it eventually recovers but it seems like the OS freezes too for the duration, because it doesn’t finish booting in the background, but continues once the display is back up. When it locks itself after not being used for a while, I’ve had it sometimes freeze and not display anything, but sometimes I am able to unlock it again just fine. I have tried taking the GPU out and plugged two of the monitors straight into the motherboard, which it didn't seem to mind. I have tried turning it off at the wall for several seconds, rolling back the graphics driver, reverting to a restore point, doing a full scan with Malwarebytes, fixing registry errors with CCleaner and checking for bios and windows updates, none of which worked. I have restarted it so many times now and every time, it does the same thing. I am currently back on the latest graphics driver (378.92). I have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, version 1607, build 14393.969, Bios version 1504 . Help would be much appreciated!

Hello, I've already contacted a couple of people regarding this issue, and so far no solution. I currently am using a Samsung 6 series 4k TV as a secondary display. When I have the TV (and turned on/and off) plugged in via HDMI It causes screen refreshes every 15 minutes to an hour on both the primary display and secondary display. It has even caused my game to crash/freeze. Also, when I have the TV plugged in but powered off, my primary monitor wont power off, the back light on the monitor will just stay on, like its still reviving a signal from the video card. I really would like to get a solution to this problem as for the business I do I need the second bigger screen. So far I've been told: 1. The refresh rate of the TV (60hz) and the refresh rate of the monitor (100hz) is causing the issue, however, I run another setup which I use a 144hz and a 60hz displays without issue. 2. The different resolutions 3440x1440(monitor) and 3840x2160(TV) will not work together, however, my other setup is a 144hz 2160x1080 display and a 3840x2160 60hz display as well, and I've had no issues there. 3. The monitor and TV just don't work together, however, on my other setup I'm using the EXACT same TV but different monitor and not experienced any issues. What I've tried 1. updating graphic drivers 2. clean install of graphic drivers 3. check if windows was up to date 4 switched orientation of connections on video card *primary monitor is a PG348Q* Thanks for any help!

So I just make sure that the computers work fine at a school as a sort of unpaid internship. They got some REALLY old computers. I found an Nvidia D33088 in a Dell Optiplex GX260 without discrete graphics. They let me take it as they were planning on scrapping the whole line of old computers. So I have a Dell Optiplex 9010 at home with 8GB RAM DDR3 @1600Mhz and an Intel i5 3470. (I know, but I don't game or anything). I want to set up multiple screens. The computer has two DP's and one VGA port at the back. My question is whether the graphics card has better graphics than the i5 3470 (I'm not sure if the graphics card has 64MB or 128MB) and whether I can set up three displays using the VGA and the DP's without any graphics card (i.e will the processor's inbuilt graphics support 3 1080p displays)?

Recently bought an Acer ED273 and since monsoon started the monitor has a black line on it that doesn't go. I'm sure it is not a driver problem of my laptop cause I have checked it multiple times. Also, my house does not have any earthing and I occasionally experience static when it rains. Can this static be causing interference with my monitor and displaying the lines? Here is the line that I'm talking about. It doesn't appear in screenshots or on the screen of my laptop so I dont think its a driver or gpu problem. The cables are also not loose.

I just want to full screen my game on my main display and have a YouTube video open on the other, but every time I start the game google chrome moves behind the game. If I tab out and fix it then go back to the game the same thing happens. Does anyone know a solution to this issue other than playing games in border-less full screen?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition with an R9 380 graphics card and with three preexisting monitor solutions. I'm looking to add a Huion GT-221 Pro to my display setup for when I do graphical work. I have the ports for it on my graphics card and it can handle the load I put on it. The display, cable, and other such things work all fine independently. It is only when I try adding the display that I have this problem. The USB data is going through just fine as I can use my display as a regular tablet but I can't get it to recognize it as a monitor. By that I mean that Windows understands that this is a monitor but it does not allow me ti extend display or copy my main display over to the monitor. This is a major issue for me. Any advice?

Hi all, after trying to connect 3 HD and one 4k display through an MST Hub on my Radeon HD7970 with only one DP connector I am looking for a way how it could work. As the HD7970 is very expensive for an used card, is there any way to use one 7970 for any calucations and a nother, cheaper AMD card only to connect the 4th display? Will the setup work with 2 HD7970? Thank you!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had the answer to my problem with my dual monitor setup. I am trying to connect my laptop 2 monitors and have the laptop screen off One monitor is 2560*1080 (ultrawide) and the other 1600*900 My HP Envy x360 (2016) with an amd a12 9700p and 8gb ram (windows 10) only has 1 hdmi so I used a 4k hdmi splitter to allow me to have 4 hdmi connections (only using 2 of them though) to me 1600*900 monitor I am using a hdmi to VGA adaptor due to it only having a VGA and no HDMI, when this is just in my laptops HDMI then the 1600*900 monitor works perfectly so does the 2560*1080 monitor when plugged directly into my laptop when using the splitter if I plug the 2560*1080 monitor into the splitter first then the 1600*900 one, the 2560 works fine, but then the 1600 says "input signal out of range", I know this is because my laptop is trying to send it a 1080p signal and it cannot handle this due to being 1600*900, however, there is no apparent way for me to change what signal my laptop pushes to it however, if I plug in the 1600 monitor into the splitter first then the 2560 monitor then the 1600 monitor works fine and the 2560 monitor just duplicates the 1600*900 image of the 1600 monitor, plugged in in this configuration, the monirtors are just displaying the same thing and there is now 3rd monitor in windows 10 settings Can my lapto0p only handle 1 monitor or is there some setting i need to change? 1st picture is when the 2560*1080 monitor is plugged in first 2nd picture is a close up of 1600*900 monitor when 2560*1080 monitor is plugged into splitter first 3rd picture is when 1600*900 plugged into splitter before 2560*1080 monitor

I have an AMD Radeon R9 290. I know with the old Catalyst drivers you use to be able to create display presets and could easily disable a display and change from duplicating to extending. The Crimson interface while a bit more slick seems to have a lot options to offer. As far as I'm aware presets are a thing of the past and it does not seem like they are interested in bringing them back :(. I have three "monitors" I want to use lts call them monitor A, B, and C. I want to have two of them to be extended ( A and B) and monitor C is a duplicate of A. I never need to use all three of them at once. The goal is that whenever I turn on monitor C monitor B turns off and I just have C being a duplicate of A. I want to be able to do all of this from the software side since having to unplug and plug in the cords is a pain because of where they are placed. I do not want to add an HDMI splitter since I could have done this from the software side with the old drivers. Thanks for the help!

Alright guys, I've got a hard one for ya'....I'm looking to get a triple monitor set up, but I'm a bit stuck....I play a lot of aesthetically pleasing single player titles like Tomb Raider and Skyrim, but I also play CSGO quite often. The problem is, I don't know which one of the following configs to get. A bracket set will indicate a separate monitor in a certain position on the desk. Left [24'' 1080p IPS] Middle [24'' 1440p TN] Right [24'' 1080p IPS] Or Left [24'' 1080p IPS] Middle [24'' 1080P IPS] Right [24'' 1080p IPS] Or save some money and buy 3 1080p TN monitors? NOTE: I will not be surround gaming, only one monitor will be used for gaming at a time

Hi Linus Tech Tips community, I'm new to the forums and came by for a little advice. Hopefully im the right place for my question. I recently built a computer with specs: Proccessor: FX-8350 @ 4.0 GHZ Graphics Card: MSI GTX-760 2GB DDR5 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FX-UD3 RAM: HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600 Drive 1: Intel 530 series 120GB Drive 2: Western Digital Blue 1TB 7200 RPM Power Supply: Corsair CX-750 Currently I game on a 32 inch TV at 1080p and 60Hz. I've been thinking about switching around my set up to possibly 3 24 inch monitors at 1080p and 144 Hz or even a single 1440p monitor. My question is what will work best? I'm assuming to do either of those options I'm going to have to upgrade my graphics card. The cheapest and most logical option I can see is getting a second GTX 760 and running them in SLI. Will 2 760s handle 3 monitors at 1080p? I don't play very demanding games for the most part. Currently I'm playing Skyrim, League of Legends, Hearthstone, Thief (all maxed out at comfortable fps), and Shadow of Mordor at high setting with decent FPS. If I get a second card would my rig be capable of running say Skyrim or Tomb Raider at medium-high settings with 60+ FPS? Through some light research I have seen that dual 760s do give a fairly good boost in performance, but it comes with driver issues and the possibility of little or no support. Also is 750 watts enough power for two? If it could handle 3 at 1080p could it handle 1 at 1440p or even 4K? (I know it supports it but I'm not expecting it to handle 4K). But would that be a smarter thing to do? I have also read that many people prefer one stronger card over 2 weaker cards, at the time of purchase my options were limited. So I got the 760, would it be better to try to sell my current card and go for a GTX 780 or 980? It seems more cost effective to stick with 760s but if it is much better to go with a more powerful card that's an option too. Any help would be appreciated, I value any input at all.

Description: I've been trying to get 3 Asus displays to run on my GTX 980 for about 2 months now (haven't had a lot of time due to new baby). I have 3x Asus VG248QE displays. I've been trying to get 3 of the VG248QE Displays to run off of display port but not having any luck. I thought one of my display ports was bad on my monitor so I've set up an RMA with Asus to return it. I swaped in my asus PA248Q IPS display into the centre to replace it as a temp from my mac pro. I can get my centre and right screen to turn on via displayport but not the left one. The left one says "No displayport Signal" then goes into sleep mode. So I've tried each monitor into each port individually and found out it's not the ports because the two good monitors will turn on in any port. I've tried all new cables and same thing, both good monitors turn on no matter the cables used. Nvidia control panel detects the display but the system freezes shortly when I try to select the display and then wont select it anyways (See image attached). When i try to detect the monitor in windows control > displays it detects the 3rd display but wont let me save dipslay settings to it or even activate the display. It tells me to use another combination of displays for setup (or something like that) I hooked up the left monitor to DVI, switched the input to DVI and it works fine. So 2 out of my 3 VG248QE displays wont work on Displayport. Is this a Coincedence or do I have 2 defective monitors at the same time with the same issue of bad displayport? I've tried on setup on my second PC which is a Asus Z77 platform running 3570k and 8gigs of ram. but just built a new system on the Z79 platform using all new parts and i'm still having the same problem. Entire System Specs: - Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit - Case: Fractal Node 605 - Corsair TX750 Power Supply - EVGA GTX 980 SC with updated drivers. - Asus Maximus Formula VII ROG Motherboard - Bios Version 2012 Most recent update (10/1/2014) - Intel Anniversary Edition G3258 Processor - 2x4gig Kingston HyperX 1600mhz memory - 2x Sandisk 256gig SSD (Raid 0) - 2x Noctua PPC 2000rpm Fans - 2x BeQuiet 80mm 2000rpm Fans - 1x Fractal Silent R2 Fan - 3x Asus VG248QE Display - 1x Asus PA248Q Display System is not currently overclocked, and idle temp at 1000rpm is 38deg Celcius and Aaida64 temps are around 60deg at full fan speed. Sorry if I rambled, I tried to stay on topic as per "Read before asking for help" post. I hope it's an easy fix and i'm just missing something. I really don't want to send all my monitors back to Asus for RMA's. Thank you for your help

Hi all, I am thinking of upgrading my pc and had my eyes on Asus R9270-DC2OC-2GD5 ... well the name I found it as is Asus AMD Radeon R9 270 OC DirectCU II, 2048MB, GDDR5, 256bit, HDMI, 2x DVI, Display Port , so I think it's the same. Anyways, all the searching I did I couldn't find out if it has AMD's ZeroCore feature, I think that's a really cool and helpful feature to have, since I don't play that much. On Asus's website it doesn't say, but I figure/hope that they didn't update it. Also I think that's an AMD feature that comes along with catalyst . Am I right? Say yes Also, if you are kind, have two more related questions: 1. if anyone has a card with ZeroCore , is that a thing to notice ? like in power consumption, noise, speed, etc. 2. if anyone has this video card, or does know, it supports multiple displays? I currently have a amd card with Eyefinity feature to it, but when I tried adding a 3rd display I saw that it didn't work. Later I found out that my board can only support 2 displays, even though it has DVI,HDMI and VGA Thanks a lot in advance!
