So last night there was a storm and the power went out for 2 hours max. My computer was on at the time, but not in use and not sleeping/hibernating. When I turned my computer on for the first time since then tonight, it wouldn't boot and gave the 0xc000000e error. I went into the BIOS and saw that it did not register my SSD but it did register my HDD and my CD drive. Perplexed, I switched the port to one of the working ports, and checked again. No bueno. Then I tried switching cables. No bueno. Then I tried power cycling. No bueno. Now I am trying to boot into Windows with a USB 3.0 flash drive, although I think that the next ice age will come and go before that happens, and I have no idea why it's taking so long. I have considered the possibility that it is bricked by the storm, but I find that unlikely since I am using a surge protector and my PSU has some kind of similar feature built in. In addition, besides my sanity, it is only my SSD that is having issues. Does anyone know any magic incantations that could fix this? I would gladly pay any price or make a deal with demons to sacrifice my first born child or only eat toenails for the rest of my life, or both. If I must perform a blood ritual, then it looks like the neighbor's great dane is going to run off while they are at work tomorrow. Seriously though, someone please help. I just bought a new graphics card, a msi rx 480 4gb, but everytime that I try to search for a game in csgo my pc restarts on it's own. I though it could be a PSU problem, but I have a 750w psu so idk. I've tried reinstalling windows but it hasnt helped. Any ideas what it could be or what I culd do to fix it? Here's my build: Mobo: MSI Z97 gaming 5 CPU: i5-4690k 3.5GHz GPU: MSI RX480 4GB PSU: CX 750M RAM: 8GB HyperX Fury 2400 MHz Storage: Seagate 1TB + Kingston Hyper X Fury 240GB

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong sub to ask this question. A few weeks ago I noticed that I couldn't wake up my PC from Sleep on Windows 10 by pressing keyboard or clicking a mouse button. If my memory serves, I don't have this problem back when I was using Windows 7 (on the same PC or even on my old laptop). After doing a bunch of searching and trying almost everything that the internet has to offer for a possible fix, nothing worked, but I found a very simple solution to this problem, which is enabling the "Resume by USB Device" option on BIOS Settings (I'm using MSI Z97 Gaming 5 mobo) under "Settings\Advanced\Wake Up Event Setup". I could wake my PC up from Sleep using my keyboard/mouse now. (sorry btw, couldn't find a FAT drive lying around, which apparently needed to save BIOS screenshot) This, HOWEVER, apparently creates another issue for me. I rarely shut down my PC, I usually just use Hibernate or Sleep (I actually use Restart more than Shut down). But last night for some reason I wanted to shut down my PC before going to sleep, so I did. That's when I noticed that my keyboard was still on (the LED or whatever effect on my cheap gaming keyboard was on), my cheap little speaker that's powered up via USB 2.0 was also still on. They usually turn off immediately after I shut down my PC. I got curious, thinking maybe I misclicked on Sleep instead of Shut down, so I pressed a random key on my keyboard and it turned on (not wake up), doing POST, booting, and all that stuff. I then tried to shut it down again a couple times and same results. I just did another test and apparently I can also wake my PC from hibernation using my keyboard/mouse. This isn't how it used to be. So, the question is, is there a way so I can still wake up my PC from Sleep using keyboard/mouse, but at the same time prevent them from booting up my PC from a hibernation/shut down state? Obviously if I disable the "Resume by USB Device" option, I can prevent turning on my PC by keyboard/mouse, but then I couldn't wake it up from sleep using keyboard/mouse, which is what I currently need because I stay at home a lot. But sometimes when I do go out, I usually shut down/hibernate my PC and I don't want something or somebody accidentally pushing a button and turning it on. Any help or response is appreciated. UPDATE: So far, I've tried: Disabling "Turn on fast startup" in Power Options. Didn't work. Disabling Fast Boot in BIOS (I don't even know what it does, or what it's for). Didn't work. Enabling the "EuP 2013" power management option in BIOS. 50% works. It prevents my PC from booting up while keeping the ability to wake it up from Sleep via keyboard/mouse, BUT my keyboard and speaker (and probably other peripherals that are still plugged in via USB) are still on, which is annoying because I can't turn off the damn light effect on this keyboard.

Hey, guys. I'm looking at buying an SSD for my boot drive. I'm really interested in the OCZ RD400 M.2. My only concern is that I've heard about compatibility issues with certain Z97 motherboards, like not being able to utilize all four PCI-E lanes. I have an MSI Z97 Gaming 5 (MS-7917) (Screenshot attached.) I've looked around, but I can't seem to find anything that confirms or denies that I'll be able to use this M.2 SSD without bottleneck from the PCI-E bus. In fact, I've just gotten really confused. Could anyone help me out and tell me if I'll be able to use this SSD to its full potential, or should I just buy a regular SATA 3 SSD? Thanks!

Hi guys!I'm in a desperate situation right now couple of days ago i upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10. it went well. after that I thought to perform a clean install since I can use my genuine windows 7 key for windows 10 activation. there after during a restart, I change the boot order and exit the BIOS! BOOM!!! machine power went off suddenly. And it restarts again. But this time it didn't boot. My Plextor M6S SSD is not showing in the boot menu!!!Neither hard disk boot priorities. So I just restart again. same result! then I cleared mobo CMOS by shorting the jumper pins. ( at least i thought so ) and restart again.... Then I could see my SSD on boot menu. but when it try to boot from it it didn't go through. some times Stuck at A2 for a long time and then it's missing again from BIOS. Then I did the same thing again and this time removed the mobo battery for more than half an hr, And start the system again. same result. I tried with SATA cable changes, port changes, start the system with only SSD plugd in to mbo,(msi Z97 gaming 5) and with only one ram. And updated my BIOS with flash drive. no luck there as well.some times it appears but it never went trough and boot. I'm pretty much out of option here. could you guys help me on this please!!!!. It will be huuuuuuuge help!!Thanks in advance!Dayantha.

Hey guys, what is my complete system worth? http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/DWhybv It's overclocked to 4.4Ghz stable, windows 10 + linux on a crucial m500 256GB SSD, the only things different is that I currently have the noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler on it, but I want to keep that for another build, so will put a new 212 evo on it instead, and I couldn't find the PSU on PCpartpicker, so out the closest I could.. mine is actually the L8 730W semi-modular and I'll include a dvd writer if the buyer wants it, I can't remember which brand it is as it's in a box right now.. I have a bd writer on mine at the moment that I am keeping. Parts are approx 20 months old which are the mobo/cpu and M.2 SSD... the rest are newer, except the PSU which is almost 4 years old, but still going strong with no problems. RAM and case are not even a year old. So what do you think?

Hi, I recently got my new motherboard, the MSI Z97 Gaming 5. The problem with it is that it doesnt has got an Optical Port. The Astro mixamp used to connect with my pc with the optical port, wich i dont have right now. Im connecting my A40 via a 3.5mm audio jack to my pc. So i looked up some cheap 5.1 soundcards and i came across the "Asus Xonar DG", it has an optical port and it is 5.1 dolby. Is it going to be any good? Am i realy getting that 5.1 with this soundcard? links: Asus Xonar DG MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Astro Mixamp

Ok guys I currently have a very old PC and when I say old, I mean it... It has Intel DG41WV Motherboard, 4GB DDR3, Core 2 Duo processor, that's it! nothing else. So I wanna upgrade to the following specs:- MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Intel i7-4790k MSI GTX 970 4g Corsair Water Cooling H100i Corsair Carbide Series Air 540 - High Airflow Mid Tower Corsair power supply based on how big of a power supply required If you guys have suggestions let me know. But that's not the actual question. I'm low on budget so I will have to be saving up for everything on my own and that's gonna be tough given the fact that my parent are not helping me with this and so its gonna take some time to complete since the build is a bit expensive for me. So I was wondering if I can buy the MSI GTX 970 4g from the new build and use it on my old PC. Any suggestion is appreciated.

Hello guys! I have a problem, that my CPU wont overclock. I have a MSI Z97 motherboard and i5-4690k CPU. The problem is when i go to BIOS everything is locked, i cant change or do anything that can change the speed of my CPU, the only things i can change is the part that has: [ .. ] around it. But thats just some small boost and stuff. (Photo 1) When i have my mouse over "CPU Ratio" it says: This item can only be changed if the processor supports this function. (Photo 2) I send a message to the shop where i bought it and they were like: "Nope, You tried to overclocked it so thats not our problem." Yes i have updated my BIOS, and updated all relevant stuff in Live Update 6. So.. What do i do?? I can't get into my bios at all. I've tried various keyboards but when I boot my pc it does not seem to register that I have a keyboard plugged in until after the OS has loaded. I tried using the Bios Mode setting on my Corsair K70 keyboard but that is not helping either. I need to change the boot order, but can't get in at all. Any tips?

Hi guys, I will buy my new gaming PC in few weeks and my case will be the phanteks enthoo pro and my mobo the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 I was wondering if the cpu_fan2 connectors of the mobo is a true PWM signal modulation? Because I want to use the hub fan connectors of phanteks (to plug all my fans, except the cpu cooler), and I want to be sure I will control them like I want, and not just with voltage (like 3-pin fans). Thanks.

LINK TO MY PC BUILD:https://pcpartpicker.com/user/CFerguson87/saved/ At long last I have finally decided upon which parts I will use in my first ever PC build! And now before I order and purchase my parts, I have decided to come to the forums to ask on your advice on a couple of aspects before I spend all of my money on my PC! These are the questions I have about my build : 1. Are there any Improvements I can make to my build, without spending any more money as I have already exceeded my budget. 2.Is my PC good for gaming in 1080p? Can I play most titles with maxed out graphics in 1080p? 3. Would my PC run GTA V, Bf4, and The Witcher 3 in 1080p at a stable 30+ Fps at completely maxed out settings? 4. Are all of my parts going to work together well? Will any be bottlenecked? Or unable to reach its full potential? These are all of my questions regarding my PC! ( I know my Motherboard is better then it needs to be, but the reason I chose it is so that I have extra head room for upgrades in the future!) Thanks for your help! I just really hope my first build is a good one! As you can imagine I'm nervous and anxious to get it up and running so your help is highly appreciated! By the way my case and fans will have blue leds, the reason they are white on the link is because i couldn't find the blue models on Pcpartpicker.com! thanks!

I buy i7 4790K, but do not know witch motherboard to prefer MSI Z97 GAMING 5 or Asus Z97-A/USB 3.1 I also own: G1 Gaming 980 Ti Sound Blaster Omni Surround 5.1 (MSI claims to have "MSI® USB Audio Power (5V)", is it just for ad?) AOC G2460PG (input DisplayPort only) Zalman CNPS 9900 LED Antec 900 I plan to OC CPU... Does MSI MSI® USB Audio Power (5V), Killer NIC and so on really work? Does ASUS futureproof and so reliable, 5-way optimization, SATA express... What mobo is better for my setup, consider reliability, stability, features and looks, What you think?

So I'm planning on getting a new MOBO sometime soon, and I've been considering the Z97 Gaming 5 by MSI, however I once heard of something to do with the RAM and I can't get my mind of it. Basicly I've heard that you can't run a singe Dim of Ram, and that you have to run either 2 or 4. Is this true? And I'm currently using Crucials Ballistix sport 1600 RAM, will it work with this mobo? Thanks to any and all help!
