I have a RTX 2060 and I was wondering if mounting it vertically vs horizontal is better for performance. I know that the traditional way is horizontal but if vertical is better and gives better performance then that's an easy and cost effective fix

Hello! Today I've ordered an ssd to come for tommorw. However I want to install it from the front of my case. When I look I have no clue on how to Mount it onto the plate. Would I have to borrow a mounting bit off of the back of the case 'near the psu at the back' and put it on there? I'll show you what I mean. Also the case is a CiT Raider.

I am trying to mount a share from my Synology NAS called Backups to a specific Folder on my Ubuntu VM (on Windows Hyper-V). I have found a bunch of tutorials that use CIFS, so I tried the following command: sudo mount -t CIFS -o username=corectusername //NasIP/Backups BackupDel But I unfortunately get the following error: mount error: cifs filesystem not supported by the system mount error(19): No such device Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) and kernel log messages (dmesg) It would be nice if anyone could help me. So i bought the corsair 3000d case built my pc and realised theres no ssd mounts i had to remove the brackets so my psu could fit, i have an old inwin 101 case with mounts would they work in my case or no?

So I currently have a 32 inch 4k lg monitor as my main primary monitor and next to it is a dell vertical monitor similar to this. It's on a desk that I got from staples. I was just curious what monitor mounts you would recommend if I wanted to put one on the top above my 32 in. I don't trust the wall behind, as I don't see any studs to be able to mount wall ones and that's the last thing I want to do.

Not exactly PC build planning related...But desk planning related. I've been looking for a triple monitor mount solution that can support having one monitor in the center, one overhead, and one on the side... attached an image as an example. Is this achievable with an single monitor mount? Or do I have to grab two mounts to pull this off?

Here's everything I've tried. 1) Since my Samsung T5 SSD is in Ex-fat format and seems to work properly. I backed up 3TB data and then formatted it to ex-Fat and moved the data back. It still doesn't seem to work. 2) I've tried using WD discovery to mount. It just doesn't work. Not even an error. 3) Tried Removing Password. 4) Tried Using WD Security for the same. 5) Tried mounting using the disk Utilities. Got this. "Could not mount “My Passport”. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 49223.)" 6) Tried using commands in one similar thread that removes the fsck(whatever that is. I'm a first-time mac user. Been a windows user for years). 7) Tried mounting directly from the terminal. Got " Volume on disk4s1 failed to mount " 8)Tried mounting in read-only mode. Still Doesn't work. (A week ago, It worked in Readonly. Even when it was in NTFS. But suddenly disappeared.) Disk checkup says the drive is OK. And it still works perfectly fine in Windows.

Hey, I am about to buy a VESA desk mount for my dual monitor setup. Currently, my primary monitor is 24" a Samsung S24F356 and my secondary monitor is 21.5". My plan is to use the Samsung one as my secondary monitor and buy a 27" one as a new primary monitor. Now I'm thinking about buying a desk mount that supports two monitors with a size up to 27", so both will fit well. The problem is that the VESA mount of the Samsung monitor is rather low instead of being in the center, while the new monitor's one will probably be centered. As you may know, there are two popular types of dual monitor mounts. The first one has a center column with one arm for both sides. The second type is the one which has no center column but two big arms. I personally like the first type more because I think it looks better. But the issue with this kind of mount is that you cannot adjust the height of each monitor individually. The second type doesn't look that good IMO, but it would easily fix the issue with the low VESA mount of my Samsung monitor. So, my question is this: If I decide to buy the kind of mount with a center column, is there any way to adjust the height of the Samsung monitor, so it's similar to that of the primary one?

I'm trying to install a new radiator in the front of my case, with the fans on the inside in a pull configuration. I was able to install it without issue, but my new layout requires that I mount my pump/res combo to the fan. I picked up an EK Uni Pump 120mm fan mount (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-uni-pump-bracket-120mm-fan-vertical) but the rad screw seems just slightly too short now. It comes with 30mm screws which is sufficient to go through the fan, the case mount and the rad, but the added 1mm of the pump mount, plus the 1-2mm increase because the screw is no longer countersunk means that it's too short. I've spent 2 weeks with my PC in parts, looking for a 35-40mm long screw, but I can't find one with the same threading. I'm wondering if I can use the 30mm screw to go through the front of the rad to the back, and then into the fan, and secure it with a nut. Then use a small (5mm) nut and bolt on the other side of the fan to secure the pump. I did test by screwing one of the 30mm screws through the rad, but a family member says that I bent the fins when I did that. I can't see any bent fins, but also, does it matter? As long as it's not cracked and water continues to flow through, bent fins shouldn't really be an issue right? Does anyone know if it's safe to send the screw through the rad? As you can see in the images, I can fit a nut on both sides of the fan...won't be easy doing the back end, but I haven't found another solution.

Long story short: I have a Z490 motherboard for an i7-10700k on the intel mounting platform 1200. I have an Arctic Freezer 2 (280) Rev 2, and am trying to figure out how best to mount the damn thing. I have the radiator mounted at the top of my case with the fans as exhaust, with the tubes on the right of the radiator looping down to the CPU. I believe I need to mount the CPU contact with the CPU cooler's VRM fan facing above the CPU, closer to the top of my case. But doing this results in the tubes getting snagged by the radiator's left-most fan. Which led me to ask you all, can I mount it this way: Using the 115x mounting holes (which I believe is Artic's suggested mounting holes also for the 1200 mounting, correct me if I'm wrong), I can get it to fit sideways with the VRM fan left of the CPU, closer to the VRM's of the motherboard and the I/O ports... doing this looks nicer to me, and also avoids snagging by the radiator's left-most fan. But I'm concerned that I will not get optimal coverage of the CPU, or optimal pressure by doing it this way... Does anyone know? Have you tried it this way? So here's my situation. I'm doing some post FX for a TV series and the edit drives they gave me are OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dock's setup in a Raid 0 and formatted as APFS. I have no access to a modern mac. I'm running a Windows 10 machine with an X570 Taichi and Gigabyte GC-Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt card. Drive is connected to gigabyte card via TB3 cable. TB3 Card and motherboard seem to be playing nice. The OWC Drives are detected in windows and even show up in disk management. I have however, been completely unsuccessful at mounting the drives. Things I have tried: - Paragon APFS for Windows: Can see the drive. If I click the mount button and assign it a drive letter nothing happens. The explore options is greyed out. I've tried restarting the drive, paragon's service and my computer. Note this software works fine for APFS usb drives I've tested. - MacDrive Pro - doesn't see the drive in its main page or repair page. If I open the MacDrive Disk Manager it shows the OWC drive but only 1 parition and my only option is to initialize or format it (not an option) - UFS Explorer - can see the drive and explore the files but as a software has no way to mount the drives for use in other programs. not really an option as I don't have equally sized spare drives to transfer the files to - TransMac - same as UFS explorer. Can see the drive and files, but no way to mount. Does anyone have any experience with APFS on windows? Is there any way to use this drive without a modern mac? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I recently made a trip to Ikea in Montreal (closest location to VT), and got myself 2x Alex Drawers and a Karlby countertop (72'') - love it. I currently own 2x Dell S2721DGF monitors, and plan to keep them for quite some time. These monitors have 4 USB ports on them, 2 near the display port / HMDI, 2 more on the lower left. I don't need to use all of them, but I do use some, and cable management on the mount would be nice, even if basic. There is potential for a 3rd monitor (another Dell, or perhaps a higher-spec primary down the road), but not now, I just want to leave room for it. Sound Bar will be placed under / right in front of the monitors, centered (sound bar is on the way) I currently have about 1'' of space between the desk and the wall - willing to expand this if needed, but I want the monitors to be pretty close to wall, definitely no more than 8'' out. Mounts style is clamp to desk preferred, as I don't have studs and wall mounting isn't desired in this case. Ideal if monitors can rotate at least 90°, as bullet hells are beautiful on those monitors when vertical (mmmMMMmm, Ikaruga). I probably want a mic arm too at some point, so if that needs to be considered in this space, jus stating so now. I'm not sure if I should go single mount, dual mount, or what. I've read very mixed reviews about the Karbly supporting weight in the middle, due to sag, it not being solid would (small portion is solid, then veneer), etc. I've also seen many people do just fine here, I'm just cautious. I'm also not sure if I should mount closer to the drawers, and have the monitors meet in the middle (taking stress off the counter), or if they'd be fine in the middle. 2 single mounts gives a bit more control, and less weight centered on a specific spot. Current setup: Any recommendations on specific options with this Karlby counter top, any cable management tips with this desk setup (just something that hangs down the back would be great, not looking to cut / drill), and general single vs dual, brand, etc, would be greatly appreciated. Almost done this setup, can't wait to mount!

Hi everyone, Would like your thoughts around creating a bootable external HDD/SDD with either Windows 10 or Linux Mint. I'd like to bring a portable OS with all my work and games and use it at my friend's gaming PC; ideally I'll be doing some rendering and some gaming while I'm staying over. Here are my questions: If my friend's PC uses Windows 10 and my bootable external HDD also contains Windows 10, will there be any conflict when it starts up? If so, will it be better to use Linux Mint in this case? Once I boot into my personal drive on their PC, will I be able to see my friend's hard drives? I'd like to keep his hard drives and my own stuff separate. Have read that you can unmount drives in Win 10; does this mean that every time I use his PC with my external drive that I'll need to unmount them? In the event that my external drive has a virus or malware, will my friend's PC also be impacted? As a safety measure, I'd like to understand how this will impact them since this isn't my own PC. I have a RCA Brand TV from around 4 years ago that I've been using as a second display for my PC. The included stand has broken and I was interested in buying a Vesa Mount/Clamp that will sit and/or attach to my desk. The issue is that when I measured the screw holes on the back, the dimensions come out to be 100 x 75. I've searched all over the net and the only products I could find were all either 100x100 or 75x75. Does anyone know of adjustable Vesa Mounts or adapters that I could attach to a Standard mount?

Hi Everyone, I don't know if this is exactly the form I should be posting in, if not please let me know. Anyways I'm back with my second post, well I guess second question haha I was diving into mass storage the other day, and I came across the ability to mount one storage device, lets say a 1TB 7200rpm HDD, as a folder onto a separate device, lets say a 250GB NVMe SSD. Obviously you can and would use this for organization, but I got wondering whether there would be any other benefits to using this method. I don't believe I fully understand how this works, but here is my question. Would mounting said magnetic HDD, that is slower, as a folder on said SSD, which is faster, in turn make the HDD move files faster? My idea hear was that if the SSD is pulling from the HDD that first pull of information would obviously be at the speed of the HDD, but say you pull a program off the HDD and the program is now in use, would the program now be running off the SSD or would it still be running off the HDD just through the SSD? Hi all! So I have seen a lot of advice and comments across the WWW about the necessary desk thickness to support a dual monitor arm clamp set up. However 99% of the time it seems to be people just suggesting they "don't think that will work." I am hoping for an answer from someone with actual experience (~: Good...or bad. The desk I am currently using appears to be made of particle board (I know, strike one). The thickness of the top piece measures 2cm thick or just over 3/4" thick (and yes...theoretical strike two). Currently I have two 24" monitors with stands on the desk, an ASUS VG248QE and an AOC G2460P. I could not find anywhere with the weights of these monitors listed WITHOUT stands attached so I have weighed them both and both are ~8.5 lbs (136 oz and 134 oz respectively). With the stands the ASUS is about 12.5 lbs and the AOC a little over 13.5 lbs. Most of the non-gas dual arms seem to come in at around 9.5 lbs meaning the weight would come out to approximately the same though it would be much more concentrated than it is currently with the two large bases partially overhanging and resting on the metal sides. FWIW if I move them off the sides into the middle I don't see any sag or sense that the table is under duress- granted the bases are still quite large. I have looked at a number of different monitor arm's and few if any of them list a minimum desk thickness. I have noticed some have much wider c-clamps and I would assume this would distribute the weight better. Similarly I have seen people mention that they have just added a book or piece of plywood to add thickness to the desk and have had that work ok. It looks like I could add up to another 1" of thickness on the underside without running into clearance problems with my keyboard (sliding tray underneath). Alternatively I could add the wood on the top but that seems like an ugly "solution".. I also wouldn't be opposed to drilling a hole to use a grommet mount instead, but I assume that is a bit of a no-no with particle board? All that being said, what are your experiences? Who has attempted this (or similar) and had the desk break or "sag"? also yes there is tape covering up the hole on the side of my Logitech G700s mouse because they refuse to repair (or sell me replacements for) the buttons that broke off. Thanks Logitech. The other blue tape that can be seen on various pieces of my set up is there because I just pulled all of this back out of storage.

I am currently using an L-Desk, but am looking for a straight desk, and one with a monitor arm mounting hole (or one that can be used for such mounting.) My current desk split were I drilled a hole for the mount and to to its size and weight it isn't secure with a lip mount. I really would love something that has some outlets or such, and if something like that is a bit above the budget I would be willing to use it. My mount is for triple monitors. I don't mind anything else, multi-tiers, legs, etc. Just that it is long enough for such a set up, and had a mount would be the best. I worry about redrilling in another desk, since this one is splitting on me.

Hi So im about to buy the acer x34A monitor. But my issue is that my desk is quite shallow, measuring in at 45cm front to back. Therefore the x34's stand would leave me almost no room in front of it. I want to VESA mount it, but ive never used one before, and im having trouble finding one that would fit my desk. My desk around the edges has 8cm deep, 2cm wide oak panels that mean you cant just screw a normal vesa mount onto it (see attatched pics) Are there any vesa mounts that have more than 2cm of space to allow for the screw-plunger thingy to go on the inside of the desk? Or would there be another solution to mount this monitor that wouldnt involve a drill?
