Alright so after going through with buying a Razr+ knowing initially the standard warranty didn't cover the inner screen, it was on sale for 699usd and I needed a new phone. I was thinking by now foldables should be fine for the most part, if anything it would be 6 months before /minor/ damage showed up. Within the first month of normal daily use the screen broke, luckily I still qualified for the 'Moto Care' plan that covers physical damage. Otherwise you have to foot the repair bill which is somewhere about 620usd, yikes. So after falling in love with the phone overall, and sunk cost fallacy in full force. I decided to buy the 'Moto care' plan that was also on sale for 172usd instead of it's full 250usd cost. Which gives you 3 screen repairs before you deductible goes up.. . Then, after waiting three days for the digital plan to be "delivered" it still cost me 100usd upfront to file a screen repair ticket. I wanted the unlocked version of the phone that still worked with Verizon, because Verizon hates phones, so I bought the phone directly from Motorola and the sale price was great. But now I can't just take it to the store and have them deal with it. For being Moto's Flagship phone, this is pretty wild. Anyway, I feel this should probably be getting a little more attention than it seems to be. It sucks, I love my foldable, I bought the cool heavy duty case for it that made it look like a sci-fi device, the form factor is amazing. The cool mini screen was awesome, I love Tiny Youtube with it folded on the table, all the shake actions from my Moto Z2 Force are there(which is the phone I had to go back to). Hello, this is probably gonna be one of those times where it turns out im just being retarded, but anyway. Im having problems with putting my sim card in my Moto G5 (dual sim). I looked it up online and both my current phone (Samsung galaxy core prime) and the Moto G5 uses micro sim cards. I have looked up tutorials online and most of them are either for the G5 plus or for a single sim version. Never the less looking at the videos the card should just "slide in" like normal below the metal thing (tray?) where the SD card should be above it. However, it does not. I have attached some photo's here, it seems like there is a small rectangle shaped thing on the left side, this is what (it looks like) is blocking it, it would fit well if it was like the right side where it was gone. The only way I can get it even partially in is if I put the corner in the middle, which of course does nothing. I have tried letting other people try to put it in as well, but they cannot do it either, is the size of my micro sim an "old" larger version or is there something wrong here? I don’t know why, but I honestly really don’t feel like I’m liking my Moto Z as time went on. First of all, this was more or less a phone that I got to replace my recalled Note 7. At the time I got it, I was pleasantly surprised. The screen was nice, the camera didn’t seem to be that bad and it performed splendidly on Android Marshmallow. Heck, the Motomods also seemed quite cool and the battery life wasn’t so bad. Then Nougat hit. Nougat wasn’t bad on its own. But when my OTA arrived, it bricked the phone and showed the ominous “Your device has failed verification and may not work properly”. I called up support and they told me that they are unable to do anything because it wasn’t purchased in the same country (even though it is the same model and runs on the same regional firmware). Reluctantly, I resorted to unlocking the bootloader, permanently voiding my warranty in the process, and resorted to learning how to flash a factory image to get it back up and running. With that settled, I went on to flash Nougat, and it wasn’t roses. The phone got very hot easily, battery life tanked and it very easily throttled, to the point where even pressing the home button took 10 seconds to register. I flashed newer firmware and even swapped kernels and changed governers to help make it more bearable, but it never performed like it would on Marshmallow. I also grew less fond of the Motomods. I currently have the Mophie mod and it was uncomfortable to hold the phone caseless as it got very hot on the sides and needed to remove the pack to make it cool down. Honestly, I question why I got it in the first place. Guess I got suckered into the modular hype that I now realize that I ended up trading a fair bit of usability for that. Guess I’m going to get a new phone sometime in 2018.

I'm from the Netherlands and I need a phone, I already have a contract. My 2 year old lg g3 has died, wifi doesnt work, battery life of max 4-6 hours (even when screen off) and now im surviving on a galaxy s3 mini. I was about to buy the Oneplus 5 but €500 is really at the top of my budget, and I'm got to upgrade my pc too so I'd rather not spend too much money in a short time. My priorities are: Camera quality (including selfie and low light performance) Battery time A 1080p display is good enough, 1440p isn't necissary. Android 6 to 7, I don't want to buy a new phone every 2 years Headphone jack. No doubt. I've been looking at the Axon 7 Honor 8 (but I don't think I'll like the Emotion UI) P10 lite Nokia 6 (I can try in the stores next week so I'll check it out there, I'm a bit frightened of the SD 430 thats inside of it.) Moto G5 Plus and z play seem really good, but I absolutely hate the bulky look and feel of the devices. Sony xperia XA1 ultra has also gotten my attention My budget is ( as I said) up to €500

What is the general consensus on the Moto Z phone? I'm getting a sweet deal from my provider and may make the jump from my Oneplus One. I know there is no headphone jack but that doesn't overly bother me. Opinions?

Hey Forum! I haven't been active much in the past very long time, but maybe I should get back into that. Anyways, I have a spectacular situation going on with my phone. Before you go and try your best at Google-Fu, this seems very unrelated to the popular issue with the Moto G 2nd Generation, where the battery circuitry decides to let the battery discharge far below safe voltages for no good reason. So, my phone is a Moto G2 Second Generation, with the model number XT1072. It's been a good device (but slow), until now. When I plug my phone into any USB power source, it triggers some sort of protection. I believe it's gotta be short circuit protection, because I doubt that my phone would try to draw 2.4 amps with its broken charging circuitry. This is especially apparent with a Trust powered USB hub from a few years ago, which turns off its power LED when I plug the phone in, while if I plug in a 'healthy' device, it works fine. Now I'm lucky that I don't need to use the phone as I've got a Nexus 5 to replace it with. However, I did use the Adoptable Storage mode, with plenty of stuff on my SD card on there, meaning that I'm unable to access the data on any other device. Pair this with the fact that I don't have enough battery power to get everything copied across and no way of charging the device, and you have my interesting situation. So, should I try to disassemble the phone and externally charge the battery, somehow giving it the right voltage on the input and being careful not to blow it up? Should I try to remove the battery from the phone and find myself a 4v power source, then hope that I could wire it in and that it would be happy without additional stats that the battery would report? So I have decided that I want to get a smartwatch but am having trouble finding the right one. I have an LG V10. I have been looking at the Samsung S2 / S3 as well as the TomTom Spark3. Here are my requirements. 1) Must play music (Bluetooth headset) without another device - ie. smartphone or mp3 player. 2) Must be water resistant (I sweat a lot and would like to swim with it) 3) Would prefer to have GPS function to track running distance. 4) My budget is dependent on the quality to price ratio. So after reading this, would any of you have a better suggestion than the Samsung or TomTom watches listed above? If so...why? Thank you for your time in advance!

Hi! So, I recently bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, and it supports quick charge 4.0, the thing is, can I use a Moto fast charger without damagin the battery? I had a moto g5 plus, and the Moto fast charger has three outputs, standard: 5v-1.6A, turbo1: 9v-1.6A and turbo2:12v-1.2A. The only difference is that Xiaomi's phone has USB type C, which forces me to swap cables. The original Xiaomi charger has a single output of 5v-2A, and the phone recognizes the fast charger when I plug it in. Using it normally, and with Xiaomi's type-c usb plugged in moto's fast charger, will damage my battery? I know fast charging degrades the battery "faster", but I want to be sure this doesnt damage the whole thing in months Thanks!

So I've no idea how long I've been looking, but this stupid ringtone called Sequin seems to have vanished off of the face of the earth. If you google it, you find one random forum post with another guy looking for it too, but the only answer on that post was some other guy saying "yea its a song called sequence of events. It's by the black eyed peas." I have searched and searched and searched and I cannot find any song by the black eyed peas called Sequence of events. No yt videos, nothing. If you just watch some of the random videos where they show all of the ringtones on a phone, it shows up in a lot of them, but other than that, nothing. Absolutely nothing. If anyone has any idea on how to find it, that would be great. The model is a Motorola Razr v3 on Verizon if you need it. The ringtone is called "Sequin". Thanks -RiverChicken

If you haven't heard about Motorola killing the Pie update for all Z2 Force phones except Verizon models, basically they're doing just that. Instead of justifying why they're doing so, they've only justified why they're still bringing Pie to the Verizon model - the 5G Moto Mod that requires at least Pie. So in typical consumer fashion, I've given up on Motorola as a whole, which is frankly a damn shame, because I really loved Motorola devices. So while the Z2 Force is by no means an out of date device for any reason other than having a lame camera and Lenovorola forgetting how to keep promises, I'm going to start searching for my replacement. Some other context - I've never owned any smartphone other than a Motorola device, having drank the Droid coolaid all those years ago. All of my complaints about their devices thus far have been about increasingly worse update support and maybe some gripes about their camera just not holding up. But that's mostly it. The Z2 Force is by far my favorite Motorola device as a whole. So here are my reasons for loving it which may give some clue as to what I'm looking for in my next device: Battery life - I've always loved the battery life in the Motorola devices I've owned (for example, the RAZR MAXX that was basically just that, a bigger battery phone). While the base Z2 Force doesn't have much in that area, the battery Moto Mods have offered unprecedented versatility. If I want to slim down my pocket, I can just go without a Mod attached. If I want to go my whole day (and then some), throw a Mod on, or throw it on later. Somehow manage to drain even further? Swap the Mod out for another battery Mod and carry on like nothing changed. All this while being able to use the speaker mod or camera mod whenever I want, simply by swapping it out. I haven't had to sacrifice battery for anything. In many ways, I've been able to gain independence from portable battery packs. Even though I throw one in my bag out of habit, especially when outdoors, I just simply carry the Mods I need and can swap out battery mods. No cables needed to stay charged. No charging speed issues. It's like it's just part of the device. Extremely clean interface - Motorola has always had a clean skin of Android that feels super vanilla to me. That may simply be because I've never owned a Pixel device or anything else, but for all intensive purposes, it's felt near perfect. Just the other day I gave Nova Launcher another shot and found myself missing things like Google Discovery (the feed) and a few other quirks. Sure, I know of the 3rd party integration for Google Discovery but in my mere hours of testing, it would simply stop working for no apparent reason, with only restarting the launcher entirely as a fix. Decent specs - Snapdragon 835 with 6Gigs RAM. The screen is fine. The camera needs help, but meh. The black & white camera is neat I guess. That's about it. Pretty reliable - Has rarely crashed the whole device. Restarts aren't often required. My biggest gripes: Camera app has been buggy lately and seems to crash when saving. Super intermittent and is just a software thing it seems. Motorola has gone from the best updates to the absolute worst, going so far as to break their promises as mentioned above. My big hands prefer a bumper and Mod for it to feel like a tangible object that I'm not going to break. Hand meat likes to wrap around the edges when holding without bumper Shatterproof screen is super prone to scratches and required a tempered glass screenprotector. While I love how durable the screen is (my prior phone took a ratchet and socket to the screen), being so prone to scratches just seems kinda dumb. The addition of the glass screen protector AND the apparent factory screen protectors that's under it means the front fingerprint sensor/home button wasn't comfortable to use for one-button navigation (gestures across the button instead of on-screen buttons for home, back, and open apps). It was like running a finger over a sharp edge and had super tactile depth that made it kinda meh and unusable. When rocking it modless, the camera bump just feels like I'm gonna break it super easily so I feel like I have to baby it. Extra thoughts: With no real flagship contender from Motorola in the Z3/Z4 era, it just feels like Lenovo just said "nah" to the phone business in addition to the other issues. So with all that in mind, what's my next non-Motorola device?

Recently my moto z2 force battery started dying faster, then it started turning off at or around 50%, but would reboot and be fine. Over the course of a few days it died after only an hour of use and one day it stopped booting. it moves past the T Mobile screen, then starts the "hello moto" boot screen, but only continues for about a half second so safe mode would be very diffucult to get into unless there is another way to get into it that i am not aware of (other than holding the up and power button at the "hello moto" screen). There have been times that it goes further in the boot, maybe continuing for 2+ seconds, but im not quick, enough to get into safe mode .It hasn't booted past the "hello moto" screen, and it hasn't passed this while i am ready to try to boot into safe mode. I can get into the menu that has a bunch of crap I don't understand, but i can also get into recovery mode. Is there any way to backup my data and factory reset it and restore only things i need, or a way to reinstall the O.S. or something? Somehow make it work. IDK. Help is appreciated. Note: i replaced the Battery with a new one from amazon. It was a swark one (i think) and it was about $25. basically its in a reboot loop that wont change unless it dies, i turn it off, or i enter the menu with recovery mode, some kind of barcodes, etc. Thanks

Hello there. So, I've been meaning to buy a new phone for quite a while, and today I went by a local store and found the Nokia 5.1, and it actually looks pretty good, MicroSD, no ugly glass back and even headphone jack! (Unfortunately, the screen has rounded corners, but ofc, you may not get everything) All in all, I think it would suit me quite well. It's even on sale. It is only that the screen almost feels a bit narrow in some way if you compare with my old handset, and that it has not yet received a confirmed update from android 8.0. I've also read about the software being more buggy and not as speedy compared to other phones in this price class. I have also checked out the Moto G6 Play, and although I like larger screens and the powerful battery, and the ability to control display colour, it doesn't really feel as good in the hand as the Nokia, almost a bit big. (Well I mean, comparing feel in the hand is pretty hard with two demo units laced down with anti-theft wires, but still.) And since I really want to get the best upgrade possible for around the 230 dollar price range (coming from a beat up Xperia T3), I turn to you: Does anyone have any experience with either the Nokia or the Moto, and which one would you go for? Or is there another phone that's better than these two for the price? Have a nice day!

Hello there. Since my current phone is in a critical stage of decay and old age in general, I am looking for a replacement. I'm quite liking some models from Motorola, but I can not clearly decide which one I'm going to get. (Worth adding is that because of a very tight budget, I look for used options.) The phones in question are: Moto X4 (181 USD) Seems good because it's a relatively new model, 64gb, but I think I'd like to have a bigger screen, and I'm not so fond of glass backs ... Moto X Style (176 USD) Generally a much nicer design, larger screen. 32gb. Moto X Play (135 USD) Best battery size, also stylish design. 16gb. However, more plastic in the construction, and not as fast as the one above. (X Style and X Play both come from eBay, X4 is local to me (Sweden), which could be an advantage) Which of these would you recommend? I'm pretty stuck right now, so any outside opinions would be highly appreciated! I'm also open to other suggestions. Thanks!

My Moto X play dies at around 30% charge. I thought this was a battery problem hence replaced the battery but the problem still persists. I think this is a software problem as re calibration did not help. Also after the phone dies when I connect the charger to says charging 30% (the phone does not start charging from 0 indicating there is battery power left). My device is around 3 years old and is perfect except this battery issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated to fix the problem. The battery percentage graph looks like, the charge falling steadily until it reaches around 30% then a vertical drop to 0. Thanks in advance.

Looking to upgrade my phone. Currently with a Moto X Pure Edition (AKA Moto X Style aka XPE aka XT1575) and the reason for the upgrade is the battery. The phone is 2.5 years old now and I'm plugging it in 2-3 times per day and, ever since upgrading to Oreo, the battery isn't tracking correctly so now it's shutting itself off with 50% power remaining. Both of which are extremely frustrating. (In America) I do really like Motorola. I've had them ever since the Razr flip phone, the Motorola Backflip, Bravo, Atrix 2, and the original Moto X and I really like the near stock android, plus the Moto Actions, like chop chop for the flashlight and twist the wrist to open the camera. Current options I'm looking at are between the X4, G6, and Z2. All of which have 3000 mAh batteries, support Turbo Charging, and have 12 MP cameras The G6 is the newest of the phones and the cheapest ($234 on Amazon). -Snapdragon 450 (1.8 GHz) -I've found conflicting reports. Motorola used to have the options for 32 GB internal/3 GB RAM or 64/4, but all I can find is the 32/3 option for checkout on their website and on Amazon. The X4 is the next cheapest ($279 on Amazon). -Snapdragon 630 (2.2 GHz) -I'm not a fan of the fact that they've reduced the screen size from 5.5" on the XPE to 5.2" on the X4. -The camera is also a step down, from 21 MP on the XPE to 12, but it gains a second 8 MP camera, which I'm not entirely sure of the benefits but I know there are some. -The front facing camera is an upgrade from 5 MP to 16, but I could honestly not care much less about that. -Released 9 months ago -XPE had dual front facing speakers, but the X4 has a single speaker The Z2 Play is the most I'd be willing to spend and is the oldest of the phones ($360 on Amazon or $408 through Motorola with a free Moto Mod projector, which is otherwise $200) -Most internal storage (64 GB) and RAM (4 GB) of the three -Moto Mods like the extra battery pack -Already a year old -Z3 supposedly coming soon but expecting the price to be higher than I'm willing to spend. (Z2 MSRP at launch was $499) My main concern with the G6 and X4 is the limited internal space. Both have 32 GB internal, but my XPE does too and has 7 GB of that dedicated to the OS. I know you can format a microSD card as internal storage but I've had problems with that, and when I did it on my XPE, Google Play Music and Videos no longer recognized the card and wouldn't let me download anything to it, and with apps, I have had times when the phone said the card was missing and I couldn't access the apps that were installed onto it. My main concern with the older 2 models is the availability of upgrades. On my XPE and the original Moto X I saw upgrades for about 2 years after the initial realease of the phone and it's since dropped off. I know there's rooting and I can probably figure it out, but I still like official support for the phones and am paranoid about accidentally bricking the phone when I try to do so. My brand new moto g5 plus initiates the google assistant setup when I hold down the finger print reader, but the app then the google stops responding always. How do I get this thing to work? It was also saying things like google assistant not supported on my device/ country. Which is bullshit given my G4play worked fine with google assistant in the same place.

I currently own a Moto G4 plus (2gb ram version), but I cracked the screen awhile ago and the speakers no longer work... I am looking into purchasing a new phone. I am stuck between the Moto G5 Plus (32 gb version, $229 ) and the new Honor 7x Phone ($200 in the US on their website). The Honor 7x theoretically is a better deal (4gb of ram vs 2, better camera, bigger battery, etc.), but I am wary about buying it because it is not a brand I know, and I don't know how much different the operating system is from stock android.
